I've had a wonderful experience with Stamford Kia From sales to service, they've helped me with purchasing a new car, a nasty car accident and wonderful service experiences

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Please avoid Kia of Stamford at all cost, as it regards to a use vehicle. There is no customer service there. Appears very nice once you go to buy the vehicle. But operated as though a chop shop!
Once the purchase has been complete and there is an issue no one can be reached. Bought a [redacted] had an existing issue. After over 100 calls and an attempt to resolve kia failed to do anything to repair the vehicle. The owner, sales manager and general manager all gave us the round around.
There was no regard for our safety and for our life; as the vehicle shut off on the high way and contacted them regarding this. After less than 90 days of ownership and nothing was done.
It took over 6 months for them to take vehicle back, having to go to court to resolve it. Most painful experience in buying a car. It has left me petrified of dealership.
RUN I SAY RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP.

Hello, We are very sorry that you are having problems with the vehicle we sold you.  As you probably already know, we only warranty our used vehicles for as long as the State of CT calls for under the CT Used Car Warranty.  The vehicle you purchased does not fall under any warranty...

because it was over 9 years old when the vehicle was purchased ( limit is 6).  I did notice that you purchased a [redacted] 24 month / 24,000 mile extended warranty on this vehicle.  You are able to bring this anywhere you'd like in order to get the problem fixed and the warranty should cover it.  My suggestion would be to bring to a shop or dealer that specializes in [redacted] due to the nature of the problem.I hope this is helpful! All the best, George

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I was never employed with Kia of Stamford at any point in the past or present. I have however, worked for [redacted] of Stamford as a sub contractor over 6 years ago. I have also purchased 2 vehicles before from [redacted] and had no previous grudge this employer. Why would I have bought 2 vehicles before and bought this one if I had a grudge.

I had asked [redacted] from October 22, 2014 for a quote of what would be discounted from the price and he told me and I quote" The new service manager was too busy to send me the quote. I have since been waiting on this quote of what they claim to be wrong with the vehicle and the cost that they would cover. I have not received one to this date.

I felt deceived by Kia, as they never informed me after I left the vehicle on 05/08/14 and told them that I would take the vehicle unless was fixed, 2 hours to be coming back to buy the vehicle it had shut off again. To this date, they are yet to tell me or provide record of what they had fixed before they called me back to purchase the van.  I feel that is being quite fraudulent as a business and unsafe in dealing lives on a day to day basis. They fired all the service team, and adding insult to injury, the owner told my spouse that he would call the man whom he fired to find out what they had fixed before calling me back to buy the vehicle. To this date no record provided.

I had done so many other things to this van. I never thought that the existing issue that they claimed to fix before I came back to buy the vehicle, was not fixed and no record r anything of that can be provided to me of what they did. So they basically botched the vehicle and sold me with this problem knowingly without telling me that the issue was back before selling me

I have fixed any other issue which the vehicle has had; without ever contacting Kia of Stamford as that would be as is. However, with the issue of the sparks plug which remains the same as it was at day of purchase which Kia claimed to fix I strongly believe its Kia responsibility. As I was never given the opportunity again, to say I would not purchase when they called me again to purchase the vehicle; Ernesto made the decision as not to inform us that they vehicle had ceased to work two hours before sale and botched it to sell me. Never giving the opportunity to say whether I would take it or not, with shutting off again.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

There are two very different stories regarding this matter. My Finance Manager [redacted] tells me that [redacted] was willing and knowledgeable of the loan going in both her name and her husband, [redacted] came in and signed all loan and registration paperwork on Friday after paying off delinquent taxes. [redacted] came in later on Friday and signed paperwork and picked up car. According to [redacted], they fought on Friday night and [redacted] called Saturday to tell us that she did not want to be on loan, but at that point it was too late.
Long story short, [redacted] seems to be adjusting this story and not backing up her actions. This is a marital problem that she is trying to get Kia of Stamford involved. We are in the process of unwinding the deal and putting it in just [redacted]'s name as a courtesy to both parties.

This complaint comes from a former disgruntled employee who was released of his duties many years ago.

The vehicle in question was sold "as is" with no warranty.  As a courtesy, we offered to fix the issue at a discounted price despite being approximately 6...

months after purchase.  The vehicle is now in our lot for 3 weeks waiting on an answer from the customer but is being towed back to their home today.

To whom it may concern: This vehicle had passed a safety inspection through our service department at the time of sale.  The radiator was not leaking at all.  During the period of time in question, Connecticut experienced extreme fluctuations in temperature from one day to...

the next that may have resulted in what the customer describes as a radiator in need of repair.  Unfortunately, we can not warranty a ten year old vehicle after it leaves our lot.  Ct Used Car Warranty is for no more than seven years old vehicles for a reason.  The vehicle was sold 'as is' due to it's age.  We are sorry that [redacted] is experiencing this problem but it is to no fault of the dealership. Sincerely, George D[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
company
I am rejecting this response because: It seems that the owner George and finance manager [redacted] are all lying and trying to save their job and business from fraud.  I have a copy of the loan application and as I said before that is not my hand writing. That is [redacted]’s handwriting.  The same day I received a copy of the loan documents from [redacted] I went over to [redacted]’s job and asked him why he signed my name on these documents and did he not know that was fraud. [redacted] said “[redacted] ask him to sign my name.”  [redacted] is trying really hard to cover his behind.  Just like police officers need to have recordings when they deal with civilians, Kia of Stamford apparently need to have one as well.  I believe Kia of Stamford is definitely a fraudulent company.  Everyone [redacted] and myself agreed that I was to only register the car under my name.  I am clearly capable of signing my own name.  Why didn't the finance manager [redacted] ask me to sign the loans forms when I was in his office?  He did not ask me because he knew I would not accept.
Another question that should be asked is why would I file a police report against [redacted] for writing my name on the loan documents if I was aware?  Why would I do that to someone I have been married too for six years and have a child with and another on the way?  Why would I do that?  Why would I file a complaint with the company KIA and the Revdex.com if this was not true?  Why would I waste my time doing this when I have a high risk pregnancy to deal with? Why? Why? Why? I am not that kind of person.  But it seems that [redacted] has no morals and do not care but, I see he will save his own behind and deny everything.  Even on the Loan documents under the co-signer section under my name it say REGISTRATION.  It does not have my salary info, just my name and the SSN that [redacted] asked me for.
Another thing [redacted] and Kia of Stamford is lying about is, [redacted] went to pick up the plates for the car on Saturday morning 10/04/14 because [redacted] could not find [redacted] or get him on the phone on Friday 10/03/14.  Yes, [redacted] and I had an argument on Friday night 10/03/14 and what was said in the argument lead me to calling [redacted] on Saturday morning around 8:40 am to cancel the REGISTRATION.  [redacted] informed me that it was too late and that I have to wait a couple of days before I can cancel. [redacted] also, asked me "why, you guys are not friends."  As I was on the phone with [redacted] was walking through the door and the plates was already on the car. [redacted] had already went to the dealership around 8am on 10/04/14 to pick up the plates.  [redacted] never went to the dealership the day before.
Another thing [redacted] failed to mentioned a week after [redacted] picked up the plates [redacted] called me several times (caller ID and text messages do not lie Jay) looking for [redacted] to complete his interview with the loan company. At that time [redacted] expressed his frustration and said that he was getting mad because he was trying to help [redacted] and this dude is not answering his phone.  I said to [redacted] that was not [redacted] phone and I will contact his friend to let him know that [redacted] was looking for him.  Since my name was on the loan and I supposedly signed for the loan how come [redacted] did not ask me to confirm the interview with the loan company? Again [redacted] and [redacted] knew because they are Jamaicans they felt that they were best friends and helping each other out and screwing me behind my back and decided to keep me out of the loop.  When I got a hold of the cell phone that [redacted] was using I checked the voice messages and it appears that [redacted] had left messages for both [redacted] and I to confirm the loan process.  [redacted] never mentioned that to me when he talking to me chasing [redacted] down.
[redacted], the sale manager called me yesterday on 10/21/14 to say they are going to reverse the loan and take everything off my name.  Since they were going to do that I was going to drop the charges against [redacted] and stop searching for a lawyer.
So instead of Kia sending a letter of apology to apologize for this misunderstanding that Kia of Stamford created, They instead trying to make a mother of two soon to have three children, whom has never been in trouble with the law a liar.  For that reason I will go-forth and proceed with my search for a lawyer to handle this civil matter even if it takes me the rest of my life to pay them.  I will fight this because I do not like liars.
[redacted]

I have reviewed the customer complaint with our management staff. Our Sales Manager, [redacted] tells a bit of a different story. [redacted] claims that he followed up with the [redacted]'s for many months to take advantage of the pull ahead program. On 1/24/15, when they finally decided to use...

the program they told [redacted] that they did not pay their past due payment due 1/21/15. At that time, [redacted] claims that he told Mr [redacted] that he may need to pay that payment because it was already past due.
That is exactly what happened. Kia billed him for his past due payment and now he's blaiming us. He has now complained with bad reviews online to the CT DMV and to the Revdex.com. I would be happy to resolve this by cutting him a check for the $209.20, if he were to take down all of his negative comments, close the case with DMV and Revdex.com and promise not to swear or cause a scene in our showroom again. I have reached out with a phone call and I will await a response.

We stand by our version of what happened. I'm sorry if this did not go down as you had expected.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: When talking on the phone with the finance employee Terry I was told that I would have to call a number to make sure any more payment were taken out. However the number given was just a soliciting number for more offers and sales. At this point I am looking to have them give me the right number seeing that I still paying for a car I don't have?
Sincerely,
[redacted]

The vehicle was sold "as is" as per the vehicle CT Used Car Warranty. We have offered to fix the vehicle at a heavily discounted rate and feel this is more than an adequate compromise. Thank you.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:George,
It is very clear that you are failing to understand my concern. Moreover, the fact that you apologize for the issue and being the face of the dealer decide not to help is more concerning. You have stated nothing in your response that I do not already know. I have decided to not bring the vehicle elsewhere due to the fact that KIA of Stamford should have been knowledgeable and qualified to address whatever issue is at hand. KIA of Stamford sold me a vehicle that clearly has an issue. I was not informed or advised that the vehicle had any issue. Bringing the vehicle to any other shop to be looked at will most likely cost me.  There will be costs involved and I will not be responsible for them. This issue has been one from the moment I purchased. Nobody at KIA of Stamford has been helpful in my concern and complaints. The service has been unprofessional and very overwhelming to myself.
George, the customer service, issue and or complaints should be really taken seriously. As a customer I am highly dissatisfied and are requesting my full monies be given back for the extended warranty. I should have been able to bring that vehicle to KIA with an immediate solution to the problem over a year ago. I should not have to go elsewhere and by you requesting me to do so, says a lot.
The issue at hand may not be covered by that warranty and more important, Why was KIA of Stamford unable to help me? Unable to fix my vehicle? Why did nobody respond to most of my emails? Why did I have to come in to KIA to leave with no understanding? Why, was I not informed that your maintenance department did not have the proper knowledge to understand the problem at hand.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Review: Bought a vehicle from Kia of Stamford on 05/08/14, initially informed that I would not purchase the vehicle, unless it was repaired. They called me back a few days later stating that the vehicle was fixed and I purchased it there after. In the end of August the vehicle then shut off with my partner off the highway. Had it brought a mechanic abd the same spark issue that had existed prior to the sale was there. It had appeared that the spark plug had just been tact in and the head was not holding as before.

I contacted Kia in September regarding this; asking for a record what was initially fixed prior to selling it to me as being fixed and they informed that they had no record and I bought the vehicle in the existing condition. I kept calling and calling and in October, my spouse spoke with [redacted], who informed her 2 hours prior to selling us the vehicle. The vehicle had again failed. However, we were never informed; instead in response to me asking to repair my vehicle for failure to disclose the vehicle was unsafe and unfit for for retail sale. They fired their Service Manager and asked me to come out of pocket 1200; without outlining what they would be fixing the discount that would be givenDesired Settlement: I would like them to cover the full cost of the vehicle at a trusted Mechanic Shop, not theirs, as the reliability and standard of their service cannot be trusted

RUN I SAY RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP.

I've had a wonderful experience with Stamford Kia. From sales to service, they've helped me with purchasing a new car, a nasty car accident and wonderful service experiences.

Review: [redacted] the finance manager at Kia of Stamford suggested to my soon to be ex-husband [redacted] to register a car under my name that [redacted] wanted to buy because at the time my [redacted] owed a lot more property taxes on previous vehicles then I owed. I agreed to pay my taxes and register the car. On October 3, 2014 I paid my property taxes and went over to Kia of Stamford to give [redacted] the Finance Manager a copy of the tax release form to register the car. [redacted] took a copy of the form and that time he also requested a copy of my driver’s license. As I proceed to leave his office [redacted] asked me for my social security number. I asked him why, what he needed that for. [redacted] replied "it’s just for registration purposes" I was a little puzzled about that. I thought since I always finance my cars and the dealer always have my information I thought it was something that was needed to authenticate the registration. I gave [redacted] my SSN and told him "do not use my number on anything else" [redacted] replied "oh no I’m not it’s just for registration" I said "[redacted] don't play with me do not put my name on any loans" he said “no it’s okay” and I left his office. On October 7, 2014 I received and e-mail from [redacted] stating that I just had a hard hit inquiries on my credit report. On October 15, 2014 I called the company "[redacted]" that did the inquiry; a representative name [redacted] told me that they have a LOAN application from KIA of Stamford with my signature. I told her that I did not apply for any loans and to forward a copy of the application. When I received the application I saw that my soon to be ex-husband [redacted] had sign my name on the loan application on October 03, 2014. That was the same day I was there giving [redacted] the Finance manager the copy of my tax release form for the registration. My question is how come [redacted] did not ask me then to sign the loan application. The answer is [redacted] knew if he asked me to sign the application I would have said no. It looks like they wanted to make a deal no matter who get hurt in the process. When I received the application I also went to my [redacted]’s Job and asked him why he signed my name on this application and did he know that was fraud. He replied "[redacted] told me to sign your name." [redacted] advises my husband to sign my name without my knowledge and without me being present. [redacted] knew from beforehand that my husband had recently messed up my credit by having a car that was both under our names repossess. [redacted] knew I would have never agreed to sign for another loan. But instead [redacted] went behind my back and had [redacted] forge my signature and did not care how this would affect me. I thought we were in a free country where we as women can make our own decision and not be forced or coursed in to things that we do not want to do. This is one of them. I never agreed to sign for a loan. [redacted] as the “Finance MANAGER” was well aware how I felt because he knew by my husband telling him that he previously messed up my credit that I would never, never agree and so does [redacted]. They both knew. For that reason I have filed a police report against [redacted] for fraud.Desired Settlement: First, I would like the loan removed from my credit report. Second, I wish I could press charges on [redacted] the finance manager as an accomplice to fraud. I believe [redacted] should not be able to hold a job as finance manager if that is the kind of fraudulent practice he is doing. [redacted] does not seem to care how he hurt families. [redacted] did not advise [redacted] the right moral way to proceed with the loan application. Due to [redacted] actions, [redacted] has now forced me to press charges against [redacted] my children’s father to show that this kind of practice should not be allowed. I felt like, I just had my rights taken away. If [redacted] is found guilty he maybe be returned to his native country and my kids will be without a father as if we do not have enough of that in our community. [redacted] should be "fired." If Kia of Stamford the company keep [redacted] around as the finance manager than they are as guilty as he is and they accept fraud as part of their business.

Review: My vehicle was purchased from KIA of Stamford in July 2014. The purchase was a USED vehicle. From the moment I stepped foot in the shop there was nothing but disappointment. The sales person ran off on my sell, did not have a chance to introduce himself seeing his wife was having a baby. This is what I was told from the sales person who took over that day to help me. The purchase ended up being done by phone seeing the sales person helping me needed to get an approval.

Within a week or two of having my vehicle the "service engine soon" light begin to display. I brought the vehicle in and a mechanic ran the codes, to come up with what he told me was nothing. This experience in itself was horrible seeing this specific mechanic was inappropriate. I had to contact KIA via email about this experience. I was told from George D[redacted] that it may be as simple as an oil change. He said "service engine soon" is a maintenance light versus a "check engine" which would be something that we would need to fix. I did notice that the oil change sticker was not removed from previous owner on that visit. I suggested this to the mechanic at that time and he checked oil said it was fine and replaced the sticker with one of KIA's.

I drove around for months with this "service engine soon" displaying. I sent KIA another mail in October 2014. I went in for them to again find nothing wrong with the car. They again, ran codes and did not come up with anything.

I reached out to KIA in February 2015 in regards to maintenance. The sales manager Ernesto D[redacted] apologized for the delay. It took a week for someone to get back to me. He was to have service contact me "when they had a chance." I never received any calls from service. In April 2015 I reached out to George and Ernesto informing both that I had never had a follow up call in regards to my maintenance concerns and or questions. In that mail I did advise that I still had high concern in regard to the "service engine soon" light still nine months later coming on. I did not receive any communication from KIA in regards to my concern.

I ended up having to go directly to KIA on April 8, 2015. This was two days after my last mail in regards to informing them that I did not receive a call in regards to my maintenance questions. In addition, informing them that I had still been concerned now months later about this "service engine soon" issue.

In this visit they were again clueless. This day a code pops up however I did not get it from them. They sprayed some stuff in the front of the car to clean something out and mixed a solution into the gas tank that was to clean out the exhaust. I was informed to ride around and go through the gas. I followed up three weeks later letting them know that the "service engine soon" was still popping on and off. This light to be specific to date has come on and off since I purchased the car. It will come on and stay on for days, minutes and seconds. I never received a response in regards to this mail letting them know I had gone through the solution and problem was and is still persisting.

On September 12, 2015 I sent a very specific email about my concerns. Till date I have kept up with all of my maintenance requirements. I have chosen to not go to KIA for any of them seeing they have not been knowledgeable nor helpful in the bigger issue at hand. At one point I asked them about their maintenance seeing they could look at the car as a whole to get down to the bottom of the issue. Never received a response as this has been the concern and issue at hand.

A few days ago, I had taken the car to Auto Zone they read the code for me. The reason I had not taken the car to have the code read in the past is thinking there was a difference between: Service Engine Soon and Check Engine. The probable cause that were displayed on the receipt are: Ignition System Faulty; Fuel System Faulty; Vacuum Leak; Engine Mechanical Condition. To me these ALL seem like BIG concerns. This is not your simple oil change! What I have found out from research is that depending on the car and year the service engine soon can be the check engine. This right here worries me seeing there is an issue that I do not understand and the dealer who has sold me the vehicle is not aware of. To me this is ignorance and the worse customer service. I should not have to go elsewhere and have a full dialysis done paying out of my pocket seeing the issue has been there from my purchasing. In my last communication September 12, I requested that a knowledgeable party in KIA's maintenance department complete a full dialysis. I did not want to be charged for this service, seeing this should have been suggested and done. Since June 2015 my ABS light has now come on and I feel that these warning are related.

I have called and left a message as of recent and are awaiting a response. Sad part is, I am sure I probably will not receive any call or communication back.

I have in most emails involved more than one recipient. All of the emails that I have included in my concern(s) are: [redacted]. My last mail which would have touched any party who was not clear and certain of my issues up, had been sent to all of these parties. NO RESPONSE! (since September 12, 2015)Desired Settlement: At this time, I am requesting all monies that I have put forth to KIA for my warranty. I am extremely unhappy with the service not provided by KIA of Stamford. I have waist time and energy, worry and frustration in trying to rectify an issue that is not worth rectifying when it comes to KIA of Stamford. My service engine soon and now a new warning is displayed and my concerns and worries are still present with no help or resolution.

I have a child that I ride around with each day. I addressed safety in my last mail in regards to having a child in the car as well. These concerns were ignored not one of the above recipients out of courtesy has bothered to reach out and get to the bottom of any of this.

Response:

Hello, We are very sorry that you are having problems with the vehicle we sold you. As you probably already know, we only warranty our used vehicles for as long as the State of CT calls for under the CT Used Car Warranty. The vehicle you purchased does not fall under any warranty because it was over 9 years old when the vehicle was purchased ( limit is 6).
