 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
Kingkiner avoids mention of the contractual description of the services to be performed and of their admission that they had not performed according to the contract. They try to make it appear that I felt it was inappropriate,. Avoiding the admission that it was a violation of the contract. In our meeting Kingkiner agreed to certain remedies.  The agreed upon repairs have not been made, despite Kingkiner's disingenuous assertion that they have.
Kingkiner's response does not address the fraudulent advertising Kingkiner is still using.
KIngkiner's response does not address the unlicensed pruning or tree removal of Street Trees such as our Red Oak that Kingkiner  continues to perform contrary to Philadelphia ordinances.

February 28, 2016Dear [redacted],
Kingkiner Tree Service, LLC removed a large number of trees, bushes, and stumps on 8/12/2015 at [redacted]' property located at [redacted], Wynnewood PA [redacted]. While completing the job at [redacted] home, Kingkiner Tree Service...

was asked to remove an additional Maple tree in the rearyard as well as old wood he had on the property, which we happily did. On 8/28/2015, Kingkiner Tree Service invoiced [redacted] for the work that was completed on 8/12/2015 in the amount of $4,850. That same day [redacted] contacted our office and provided a credit card number with which to charge the balance of $4,850. At the time of his call [redacted] made no mention of any issues. In early October 2015, [redacted] contacted Elmer K[redacted] directly and notified him that Kingkiner Tree Service had missed two very small sapling trees, approximately 3 inches in diameter in the frontyard to the left of the driveway. The following day Kingkiner Tree Service sent a crew back out to [redacted] property to remove the two sapling trees in the hopes of rectifying this accidental oversight. Until receipt of this complaint we were unaware of any lingering issue between Kingkiner Tree Service and [redacted].
In addition to the above, while work was being performed at [redacted] home a piece of our equipment knocked over a street sign at the corner of [redacted] notified the Kingkiner Tree Service office of this fact in addition to our crew reporting the same incident. At that time, Kingkiner Tree Service contacted the Lower Merion Township to determine what needed to be done with respect to the street sign. In speaking with Angela at the Lower Merion Township Public Works Department she advised that there were several down street signs and there was currently a dispute as to whether the Township was going to order new signs or repair the original "old-style" signs. She was hopeful to have the new signs ordered and replaced within the next few months. Either way, the Township would be handing the street signs and it was not necessary for Kingkiner Tree Service to be involved any further. Therefore, the street sign will be replaced once it becomes available by the Lower Merion Township and not Kingkiner Tree Service as noted.
Please know that we value our Customers greatly and always want to be sure they are happy with our work. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards,
Christina P.

Review: My neighbor hired kingkiner tree service to remove a tree in her backyard. When cutting down the tree, the tree fell onto my retaining wall, shed, and fence causing extensive damage. Also they cut the tree into logs and left all the logs behind my house when I was not the one who hired him. When I call the owner to come and fix the problem he refuses to take my call and his secretary says he will call back but he never calls back. It has now been a month and still nothing.Desired Settlement: The business has a responsibility to fix all the damage.

I am rejecting this response because: it has been 8 weeks since the incident occurred and the company is telling me that they are waiting for pieces to repair the damage. If the intention was to fix the damage to begin with the repairs would definitely be in my now (2 months). THIS NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED ASAP AND THE DAMAGE NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

Review: Contracted to remove tree from backyard.

I made the mistake of paying them before the work was completed.

From mid-November 2103 when they cut the tree down till now the work remains incomplete.

The tree remains on my property.

They never completed the work according to our signed agreement.Desired Settlement: I would like them to do what they said they would do or refund me my $3000.00

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.They finally did an excellent job.

Regards,

Kingkiner did a tree job across the street from my house and when they left my neighbor's job, they also left decent size chips of wood over my lawn, sidewalk and street without cleaning up. I placed two calls into their office to clean up the mess and have not received a phone call or apology.

Review: Kingkiner Tree Service through the owner, [redacted] Kingkiner, proposed to trim three trees on our property in specified ways detailed in the proposal. Additionally, one of the trees was a "street tree" under the auspices of the [redacted] Park Commission, requiring a license from that Commission before it could be trimmed. Kingkiner failed to follow the specifications in the proposal. Additionally, Kingkiner failed to get the proper license for the street tree and the Commission says that they are not authorized to issue such licenses or permits to Kingkiner Tree Service. Finally, Kingkiner advertises that they are [redacted] certfied, whereas [redacted] assures us they are not.Desired Settlement: Replace damaged maple with a tree giving similar functionality and get a settlement form the [redacted] Park Commission on the oak including its removal and replacement. Cease using [redacted] in advertising.

Regards,

Review: I first contracted Kingkiner's tree service on 10/21/2011 to take a hemlock tree down. Their agreement stated that the area will be left ground level and the grindings will be removed. Not only they did not remove the grindings but attempted at staffing the ground hole with them. I caught them doing it and they promised to bring top soil on another trip. They never did. As for the area it was left with sizable holes instead of ground level as they had promised. I had to put hours to clean up and add top soil and grass seed at my own expense. To this day the grass doesn't grow and the dirt patches are easily spotted. In the summer they get covered with weeds. Despite all the inconvenience I paid them in full and never complained. I called them again after the rough winter we just had that split another small tree in half. When they removed the first tree in 2011 they had verbally quoted $200 to take this one down which at the time was healthy. I declined from taking the tree down as it provided some shade and it was healthy. This time around I knew they will not honor their verbal quote but I was not prepared for the estimate they presented me with. The same estimator came his name is [redacted] and he uses a lot of bait and switch tactics to get the sale. He estimating the tree and a few fallen limbs in the back at $625! he then estimated to grind the stump, remove grinds and fill the hole with topsoil and seed for $135.

Of course any estimate he writes he includes the DISCOUNT although HE NEVER INDICATES the price he discounts it from. He handed me this estimate on 2/27/2014.

This time having had the bad service experience from 2011 I was not quick to take his proposal. I shopped around and found a small landscaping service which did A GREAT JOB taking the tree down for $300 less. Unfortunately they do not have the grinding equipment to remove the stump. Therefore I called Kingkiner to grind the stump for the price he quoted just a month ago. The woman in his office named [redacted] (or [redacted]) acted manipulatively. She inquired and again and again why I want the stump work done but not the tree. A little later [redacted] Kingkiner called me and flat out refused to honor his estimate. He emphasized that he gave me a discounted prize that he would not honor because I did not give him the tree job. I told him that I was fortunate enough to have it done for $300 less. He did not like that at all and he demanded to know why did I not give him the opportunity to counter.

I said to him that I was not aware that I HAD TO! If he wanted my business he should have given me his best estimate up front instead of high balling and wait to see if I caught the bait. He is unethical and he runs his business unethically. I asked his receptionist [redacted] when I called if he is the owner. She said he is not. I have not idea why she lied I suspected all along he is the owner because an employee usually is not cavalier about turning business away.

Mr. Kingkiner tried to drive the point that "he must done something right because I called his tree service again." No his crew and himself did nothing right and everything wrong. The reason I called again is because back in 2011 he had given me a competitive estimate so despite the lousy service I thought I should give him another chance. Never again, in his case it is absolutely true that you get what you paid for.

I proceeded to look Kingkiner's Tree Service on the internet. I was not surprised to find that the company has several really bad reviews and complaints.Desired Settlement: I'd like Mr. Kingkiner to send his crew to grind the stump, remove grindings and fill the hole with top soil and seeds for the price of $135 that he quoted me on 2/27/2014. I would be very surprised if he agrees to honor his estimate. If he does I will supervise his job personally from the beginning to end.

I also like Mr. Kingkiner to apologize for telling me that it was "bad karma to shop around just to save a lil money" Obviously Mr. Kingkiner thinks that $300 is not worth coughing and he would rather see it in his pocket than mine.

Response:

This is in response to complaint#[redacted]. [redacted]. [redacted] was given a estimate to remove a tree and grind out the stump. The price for the removal of the stump was contingent upon Kingkiner Tree Service also doing the tree. [redacted]. [redacted] hired another conpany to remove her tree, when she called in for Kingkiner to grind out the stump she was told there would be a difference in pricing. [redacted]. [redacted] was very nasty in her response to Kingkiner Tree Service about ther price difference.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: The contractor did not offer to resolve the issue. He flatly stated he won't honor his stump quote because I hired another contractor to cut the tree and paid $300 less.

The written estimate from Kingkiner does not state that the price for grinding the stump is contingent upon cutting the tree; he clearly quoted two different prices for two different jobs. The contractor was fully aware that I was disappointed with his high tree quote and that I intended to get more estimates. He never stated that if I get a lower quote I should call him back and see if he would match it. In his words he said it was "bad karma to shop around just to save lil' money." Apparently the contractor has no respect for other people's money and he treats it as though money fall from the trees.
