La Z Boy Furniture Galleries Reviews (23)

I recently purchased a few pieces of furniture from La-Z-Boy Ocala, Fl. During the purchase and several weeks prior I visited the store and asked questions about sales or potential sales that might take place. I was routinely told there are no sales with La-Z-Boy and that the price is the price if you want quality furniture. I like La-Z-Boy personally but was concerned about the price. weeks after I bought the furniture and weeks before it was delivered they decided to have a sale of free tax for any order. This was completely against what I had heard previously. I called the local store and was basically brushed off by the manger [redacted] of the store who even questioned my ability to read. I also made contact with the La-Z-Boy corporate about the same. However since this is a independent store they can basically treat customers as they please which in this case is incredibly poor.
I will not be buying any further pieces from this location and I would strongly encourage you the same.

Review: I purchased $3200.00 worth of furniture on February 25, 2014 and promised deliver in six weeks. As of this date May 19, 2014 we have been put off saying the furniture is on the way. We have not received any calls updating us and I called today now their saying it's being shipped may 29th. I wish to cancel my order but they say I can't. I would like help to cancel my order and get my down payment returnedDesired Settlement: I would like to cancel my order and get my $850..00 down payment refunded

Response:

Good morning,

I'm sorry to hear of Mr. [redacted]s disappointment. This problem Stems from an unforseen delay with the leather on the La-Z-Boy manufacturing end. Several months ago, [redacted], the store manager in Latham, had La-Z-Boy start contact with Mrs. [redacted]. Looking through the sales notes the anticipated ship date has changed several times, from mid May to mid June. Although a delay of this duration is extremly rare, it does happen on a very rare occasion. I've had several conversations with La-Z-Boy Corporate over the last couple of weeks regarding Mrs. [redacted]s order. I was able to speak with [redacted], from La-Z-Boy, who has been handeling Mrs. [redacted]'s complaint. La-Z-Boy has Offered us a discount, which we are matching for a total discount of $235.00, which we will be crediting back to her account. The store has left a message at the home number provided to schedule delivery of the recliner for this Saturday 6/14. The sofa will be shipping from The La-Z-Boy plant next week, the week of 6/16. Once it arrives into the distribution center in New Castle Delaware I've reached out to the dock manger to get it unloaded and call me ASAP. The sofa will then be delivered on a seperate delivery, at no charge to the customer, only a few days after it's unloaded in Delaware. I can assure you we have, and will continue to, do our best to get the sofa to Mrs. [redacted] as soon as possible. I will make sure [redacted], and I continue to follow up with this until it's complete, and I will keep you up to date.

Review: On Saturday October 18th my mom [redacted] bought a lift chair for my father due to his illness and inability to get up from a chair on his own. On Tuesday October 21st, the chair was delivered with a 3 day return date. Unfortunately that same day, we had to call EMS for my father. On October 26th my mother called the Latham store where the chair was bought to return the chair. She was told from a manager that we were pass the 3 days warranty and we bought the chair we own it and hung up on her. After several more calls, the store manager [redacted] indicated we could keep the chair or get a store credit. He gave me the regional managers [redacted] phone number who has not returned any of the 3 phone calls. My mother has been in the hospital and was not thinking about the chair warranty and called the minute she thought of it. My father has not come home and has since passed away and a chair remains untouched.Desired Settlement: Full Refund and the chair removed from the home

Response:

Good afternoon. We're sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. [redacted], and our thoughts go out to his family in their time of grief. Mrs. [redacted] bought this chair for her husband on 10/18/2014 and it was delivered on 10/21/2014 as agreed. The sales associate called Mrs. [redacted] on 10/22/2014 to ask how the delivery went and to insure Mr. [redacted] was able to use the chair comfortably. The associate was notified that Mr. [redacted] was sitting comfortably and enjoying his new chair as they were speaking on the phone. We were surprised to receive a call from the [redacted]'s daughter on 10/28/2014 to hear that she would like the chair removed from the home because her father was brought to the hospital and she was unsure of him returning back to the home. The store offered to issue a store credit to the [redacted] family in place of the lift chair. The [redacted]s found this unsatisfactory. We then offered to take the chair back with the 10% re-stocking fee, 20% less than the 30% restocking fee described on the back of the signed sales agreement, again found unsatisfactory to the [redacted]'s. I've spoken with The [redacted]'s family several times over the last couple of weeks. The second to last time to Mrs. [redacted], from their daughters cellular phone, and offered to take the chair back with the family paying nothing more than the original delivery charge and the fabric protection that they had applied to the chair in case of accidental spills, rips or tears to the fabric. These are charges for services rendered by third party service providers for which I will be unable to recoup. I was told they would have to think about it. I called Mrs. [redacted]s daughter yesterday, 11/13, asking if they've reached a decision on having me pick the chair up and I've again not heard back. I have again provided them my office and cell phone number.

Mrs. [redacted] has stated that someone at the Latham store hung up on her. I've checked with the staff in Latham and I was told one of our associates did cut a phone call short with Mrs. [redacted], but only after he had listened to a series of threats to call the Revdex.com, The Attorney Generals Office, and threats to "bash our store all over town seeing she knows alot of people, unless she gets every penny she's paid". I believe that we've treated the [redacted] family very fairly and I've offered to pick the chair up myself so I can pin point an exact time for the family, as I'm sure they've got alot to take care of. As you know, I work very closely with the stores and I've always been willing to do whats right by our customers. I will make sure to notify you of any further developments as they unfold.

Again, we would like to pass on our thoughts and prayers to the family in their time of grieving and think we've offered them a more than fair solution. If you have any thoughts or suggestions regarding this incident I will be happy to entertain them as always.

Regards,

General Manager
