LanLabs Reviews (22)

Review: I brought my computer to LanLabs for a diagnostic/repair. Upon completion of the diagnostic I was sent an email detailing what was wrong with my machine. This letter notes that only my GPU (graphics card) needs to be replaced. After purchasing a new graphics card I was informed that my motherboard had a short in it and also needed to be replaced. (This was not noted in the diagnostic report) After many phone calls and visits to the store, they have made themselves unreachable to discuss solutions to this problem.Desired Settlement: Since my computer has not left the possession on LanLabs since they inspected and detailed what was wrong with it, it is apparent that the damage to the motherboard occurred while in their possession. This part should be replaced with the exact part that was damaged, or at least a new board that meets the same technical specs of the damaged part. This should be done in a quick and prompt manner, at no additional charge to me.

Response:

I don't understand how a store with business hours can be "unreachable". However, the customer was able to deceive my staff into allowing him to take the computer without payment. So I would assume this matter is settled. [redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

After first filing a complaint with the Revdex.com, Doug (owner) proceeded to curse, insult, and threaten me after refusing to fix or return my property. Nassau County Incident Report #[redacted]. Doug assured the officers and myself that the computer would be ready for me to take at no charge the next day. The next day it was not ready and was told two more days were needed. After two days I returned and saw my computer sitting in the same spot untouched, one of dougs employees began to reassemble it and was done in a matter of minutes. Doug insisted I sign a document stating that he only broke the motherboard. I refused, as he had not shown me any evidence of this. Doug assured me that he would get it in working order. Something I had heard from him to many times over the last 5 months. He then went back to not working on my machine and not being in his store during business hours. After driving back and forth to the store everyday for a week one of his employees were finally there. He explained to me that Doug had not shipped out my motherboard to try to get it replaced and that he didn't know why his boss was acting like this with all of his customers lately. He then apologized for the situation and returned my property. It was taken directly to "[redacted]" for a full diagnoses. The motherboard (which worked when it was dropped off at LanLabs as stated in the diagnostic written by Doug) was found to be defective and in need of replacement. By not being in the store during posted hours and not returning calls or emails the business is, by definition, unreachable. There was also no work done on my machine to be "paid for" according to LanLabs "no fix no fee" policy.LanLabs should pay for the damages that were caused while my machine was in their care. -[redacted]

Response:

Again, William does not understand that he has prevented a solution at every stage of this transaction. The solution he is asking for is ludicrous as that exceeds (or at least rivals) the total value of the system (with the exception of the new video card he bought). He has also removed the machine from the store by lying and tricking staff members. To clearly recap: The machine was brought to us NOT WORKING at all. We repaired it, and assisted him with recovering damages from [redacted]. We also tucked and cleaned the machine, in addition to preventing further heating damage due to past repair attempts (presumably by [redacted]). Shipping costs, materials and labor are lost here. ____As to the machine itself: The parts are antiquated therefore are displayed with obscene prices due to time passing with no update, or "lets get lucky" mentality. $400 + labor is hard to achieve on a top-end MODERN motherboard. In fact, you could replace ALL of the core components (motherboard, processor & RAM) for a similar price with better, more modern equipment. Just to give an idea of how ludicrous this sum is: The motherboard on flagship machine (the Bestia, retailing at $4999.99) has a $400 motherboard in it. Doug

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

To Recap:The machine was brought to LanLabs not working at all. Doug showed me that the machine worked with one of his graphics cards inside. When I brought my new graphics card to the store, Doug told me my machine was cursed and my motherboard "broke on its own" while in LanLabs possession. He then hid from myself and other customers, ignoring his own posted store hours. He then lied about steps he had taken to attempt a fix on the rare occasion anyone was in his store. According to the diagnostic written by Doug my graphics card was the only issue at the time of drop off. His refusal to pay for the damages he caused is both laughable and insulting. Also, Doug has proceeded to make up prices and values for my machine that do not reflect ANY market anywhere. This complaint will not be considered resolved until I recieve compensation for damages and costs of labor to fix, either by cash or money order. I will not accept personal checks from liars and scam artists.
