LeafFilter North of Pennsylvania Inc - Pittsburgh Reviews (33)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Regards,
[redacted]

We have been working with this customer to resolve the issue and feel we are close to our goal of customer satisfaction.  We have been out to service the customer's installation and the customer observed the performance during a significant rain.  While the performance seems to be better than it was previously the customer has requested the installation of a higher flow screen in front of the garage.  In the interest of achieving our goal we have agreed and are working to schedule that with the customer at the earliest possible date.  We believe the customer will verify our mutual cooperation to resolve this issue.

Dear Sir/Madam,       In response to[redacted]’s complaint, we submit the following: 9/11/14 – [redacted] contracted LeafFilter North Inc. toclean out the gutters and clean, seal and realign as needed to the best of ourability; also install LeafFilter Gutter...

Protection on the existing gutters ofthe home.  9/15/14 – LeafFilter North Inc. performed the contractedservices and installed LeafFilter Gutter Protection on the existing gutters ofthe home, including sealing the existing gutters to industry standard. 11/4/14 – LeafFilter North representative resealed the seamsas needed for customer satisfaction. We spoke to the customer after the servicewas complete to confirm the service was performed.  7/8/15 – LeafFilter North representative again resealed the seamsas needed for customer satisfaction. We spoke to the after the service wascomplete to confirm the service was performed.  7/9/15 – After receiving notification of the customer’s Revdex.comcomplaint, our Regional Project Manager has scheduled to go out again today to workon the seam again as needed for customer satisfaction.  The Lifetime Manufacturer’s Warranty is a no-clog guaranteeon the LeafFilter Gutter Protection product. This warranty does not guaranteethat the gutters, as the house settles and shifts over time, will never leak adinfinitum. However, in the interest of customer satisfaction, we have visitedthe home on two separate occasions after installation to reseal the seams ofthe gutters at our own expense and no cost to the customer.  In conclusion, we performed the service and installation ofthe LeafFilter Gutter Protection as contracted by the customer nine months ago.During the course of our installation, we sealed the gutters according toindustry standard. For customer satisfaction we have visited the home twice(and have scheduled to go out a third time today) to reseal the areas ofconcern at no cost to the customer. Upon inspection, we have found theLeafFilter product (which carries a lifetime, money-back, no clog guarantee) tobe installed properly and operating as designed. Mr. [redacted] has not had to callour company once since his purchase to have his gutter unclogged because debrishas been allowed to clog the interior of the gutter. Therefore, we find nocause to warrant monetary compensation to the customer in this case.  Please let us know if there is anything further we canprovide to close out this case.  Respectfully, Joe [redacted]VP of InstallationLeafFilter North, Inc.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Revdex.com,This installation has never functioned correctly. That goes back to the very beginning, from the first day. I did not have any problems until your people installed the filters. I paid for new functional filters, they installed filters that needed immediate repair. It doesn't make any good sence for me to accept a product in need of immediate repair. I do not call that new. There have been multiple issues and nothing has been resolved. I suggest they  review my e-mail of August 14, 2015 which references discussions with Pat Clifford among others. Also a review of their Service Cover sheet might be productive. Again this installation is a complete failure, that Is why I am requesting a full refund.
Regards,

Review: Leaf Filter sent a contractor on Jan. 26, 2016 to install their gutter system. After having 3 feet of snow on the ground, I called to ask them not to install due to the amount of snow. The contractor said he needed to install on that day. I believe he had to shovel snow from the roof to do the job as we have a two story house. There were portions of the roof that must have been slippery as he placed screws in several areas of our roof. ( The company denies using screws, however no one else was on the roof that would have done this. Also there is a woven strap that the installer used and it is still attached close to the chimney! Again, the company denies using anything of this nature!) A few weeks after installation we noticed a lot of water dripping from the garage gutters. I called the company and they sent a representative to look at it. He decided to trim back some flashing and said that would help, although we may still have water dripping due to ice forming over the leaf filters. Spring arrives and we notice that when we have a hard rain, the gutters are overflowing heavily. Additionally, when walked to the one side of the house, I notice that the filters were very wavy. I called them again and another technician came. It just happene that about the time he arrived, it started pouring down rain. He said that it definitely was a problem and that high flow filters would help. When he looked at the wavy gutters, he agreed that they should be redone, however he did not have enough material to do the job. It's been weeks since he was here and I called him to find out the status of the repair. A man named Chuck said he would get back to me. I received a call today and the technician said he saw my pictures and didn't think there was anything wrong with the installation! Additionally, he is denying that the installer put screws in the roof. I have pictures of the screws sticking up from the roof. I am definitely disappointed with the whole system. I would like to have the second technician come and do the repairs and replacement. Lastly, the independent contractor that did the initial work in January, no longer works for Leaf Filter.Desired Settlement: Repair/replace gutter system and alleviate the problem of excessive water flow resulting in ice formation on the walkways in the winter.

Response:

We received the complaint from the Revdex.com and then reached out to the customer. Based upon the discussion with the customer we scheduled to come and service the installation. We did indeed perform the service on 8/30 and since have left a message with the customer as a follow up to work toward making sure our actions have resolved the concerns the customer had reported.

Regards,

[redacted]Leaf Filter did indeed come and install new filters and corrected most of the problems, however, there is still a problem at the garage gutter. When it rains, the water drips underneath the gutter. I have sent an email to the person who did the repairs, but have had no response. There was a message from Mike at Leaf Filter, and I will call home today to see what can be done.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

We had Leaffilter installed 3 months ago and it has been wonderful, all of the pine needles just run off! The installations was fast and the installer was courteous and cleaned up any mess. We needed to call for a repair as a gutter seam was leaking that should have been caulked. The response was quick; he called the next business day to set up an appointment for the same day.

The representative that came to the house was Luke D[redacted]. He investigated the problem, showed me the caulking he removed and apologized that it didn't work as it should have. He re-caulked the seam and then tested it with water to make sure it wasn't leaking. Luke explained what he was doing and answered all my questions. It is always a pleasure to do business with a company that stands behind their promises!

Review: I contracted with Leaf Filter North, Inc on 10-18-2014 to install gutter filters at my residence. I have had continual problems since the very first day.

The installers encountered installation issues and failed to tell me that they would be repairing and rebuilding each individual filter. This was necessary because the screening inside of each filter was upside down.

They never gave me the option of replacing with new filters.

Since they installed the filters, we have had continual water draining issues associated with the filters. We have water going over the sides of the gutters and a nasty draining issue over the front door. Leaf Filter North responded to my calls for help and sent several servicemen to the house.

The first service man, Scott G[redacted], was professional and corrected some issues. He was the first person to tell me that many of the filters had the screening installed upside down. The sedond serviceman was Pat C[redacted]

He took a cursory look at things and tried to sell us another product called "Drip Edge."

I told him I wanted a refund, but he told me that he would instead give me a huge discount on drip edge.

Pat [redacted] intimated that he was a decision maker in the company, and his decision was not to grant me a refund.

A third serviceman Luke D[redacted], came and replaced two filter units, that he felt the sun might have caused to buckle. Upon the removal of the units he found significant structural damage to the bottom of one of the units.

He was unable to explain why. Conditions have worsened since then. I called MrD[redacted] again on 7-27-16 and he canted to sell me "Drip Edge." He also told me that there is a $95.00 service charge after the first year of coverage.

I did not see that service charged mentioned in any of my paper work.

So now, I am out $2,577.00 and my roof and gutters are in worse condition that when we started. I now have leaks where the there were none. In addition to the above comments about the filters themselves I have attached pictures of my roof. As a matter of fact, the enclosed photos show they made the situation worse. Please note the stark difference between my roof and the literature circulated by Leaf Filter Inc. They advertise a flat, uniform, contiguous installation. My roof has waves, is not uniform and gaps are between the filters. They have not kept their part of the contract. They have created problems that never existed in the previous years I have lived here.

Therefore, I am requesting a full refund of $2,577.00.Desired Settlement: Full and complete refund.

Response:

We have reviewed the complaint submitted by the customer. We have also spoken to the customer in an attempt to rectify the customer's concerns. In reviewing the information available and speaking to the customer we were able to how to best service the customer to rectify the issues. We requested to come to the property to inspect exactly what product is not meeting factory specifications as per the written warranty. The customer declined our request. While the concerns expressed by the customer do not qualify for the customer's requested solution, we did provide an alternate solution that included replacing any product requested by the customer at no cost to the customer. The customer declined our offer.

Review: LeafFilter rep, James H[redacted], guaranteed the work. We contracted for the gutter protection system; not to replace the gutters themselves. He said when the work crew came if there was any issue with the existing gutters the crew would stop work and talk to us about the condition of the gutters. We contracted for the work on Sat morn, 2/20/16. He pushed to get the job started on Monday, 2/22/16 in his words "to keep the crew busy". The crew arrived on Mon 2/22/16, worked appx 7 hrs. The end caps and gutters were supposed to be guaranteed not to leak. My wife happened to be home that day ill. When the job was complete the woman with the crew came to my wife with a form to sign that one gutter on the front of the house had pinholes in it and she signed some form to that extent. We were never given a copy of that form. Now we have at least 4 areas where the gutters are dripping where the end caps were to prevent that. We did contact the company on one occasion shortly after the work was done; they sent the same crew out who arrived just as my husband was leaving for work. They said they would check out the gutters and get back to us. We have not heard one word from Leaffilter. The gutters leak each time it rains, when there is heavy dew. The contracted price is too high for the work that was done.Desired Settlement: Billing adjustment and acceptable repair. We want the job completed so the promised result of no leaks is kept.

Response:

We have reached out to the customer and addressed their concerns with the leaking gutters with a service call earlier this week. They do have one persistent area that we are scheduled to take care of next week when the customer will be home. The customer has indicated they were satisfied with our visit this week and we have assured them we will be out next week to address the one persisting area of concern.

Review: Last Fall I had LeafFilter install new gutters, fascia and downspouts on my home. I was assured by the salesperson that these gutters and their filter would take all the water a heavy rain could produce. Unfortunately, that is NOT true and water goes right over the top of their filter leaving what their own service person calls "Zebra Stripes" or dirty marks down the gutter every 3 or 4 feet. Looks terrible!!! Additionally, water is going down behind the butter and running down newly installed siding causing dirty marks all the way down my new siding. It wasn't until after the filter was installed that their installer told me about a filter that has larger holes, used at ridge areas to accept heaver amounts of rain water!!! They should have told me about the filter with larger holes when they sold me the product and I would have installed it which might have stopped rain water from going clean over the gutters causing the "Zebra Stripes". I have called them no less than a dozen times to fix the problems and NOTHING!!! Happens. I called their main office in [redacted] and a person named [redacted] said they would come out and install the filter screen with larger holes but then I've heard nothing from them. I just want the problems fixed right. That's what I paid for and what I expect, nothing less and nothing more. They should have told me about the filter with the larger holes up front, not after the fact. Perhaps the Revdex.com can get some action from them.Desired Settlement: I would like LeafFilter to correct the issues I have called them about for months now. They can do this by installing the leaf filter with the larger holes and fixing the gutter so that no water goes behind the gutter and runs down the fascia and down my siding. I just want the JOB Finished and Done Right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Response:

To whom it may concern,I have spoken with Mr. [redacted] again today. He confirms that we did in fact fix all of the installation issues. The one issue left over is the black streaking or tiger striping that Mr. [redacted] told me he had before the LeafFilter Installation. I told him that the tiger striping is absolutely NOT from the LeafFilter and when I answered him and told him that we would not power wash the gutters, he told me he would spread bad reviews and "maybe that would make me do it"! Either way, we did fix all issues and we are always, always available to address LeafFilter issues only.Respectfully,[redacted]VP of Installation

Regards,

Just had a salesmen show up for a free estimate today on an install of there grade A gutter guard system. He was early which was nice. Went through the product and then gave what he thought was a reasonable price of $1553.00 Ask if I could think about it and get back to them he was like no we wouldn't have time to process before the end of the month. While filling out my credit application he asked for my income. Which I told him was 17404.....he put on the paperwork 20000. Then I told him to fix it he said but you mentioned getting a second job (which I did, but do not have) So I got up told him to leave about 5 times and then he finally did I told him I will not have someone lie on a credit application to get approval I had gotten ripped off from a contractor in the past that did that and have learned my lesson. I would not recommend any business who thinks lies is the only for them to obtain the credit approval. I do not recommend then at all.

Review: My mom and I bought our house in end of march 2013. we had no problems with gutters, downspouts, etc. we had leaf filters installed about spring/summer of 2014 to prevent gutters and downspouts from getting clogged. we have have nothing but problems. the downspout at the corner of our house by the garage has completely frozen to the point the seams busted in the back. I am paying to have the down spout replaced tomorrow. we now have damages from the entrance to our garage ( the concrete) heaving up. we have never had any problems until the leaf filters were installed. I want these repairs made to my property. Once these problems started I've heard other people having nothing but problems with the leaf filters.Desired Settlement: I want the damages to my house fixed.

I have spoken to Ms. [redacted] today (3/2/15) atapproximately 1:00p EST. Per our discussion today, it has been agreed that shewill be taking care of any alleged damage/concerns with the driveway herself,as this would not be an issue caused by our system or the work we performed ather home. Ms. [redacted] did state there are areas where the LeafFilterTMseems to be buckling. We have agreed to have a localrepresentative come out to her home to inspect and address concerns with ourinstallation as necessary. She has agreed that it would most effective to waitfor several consecutive days of warm weather before we do so. We have opened anew service on this and are tracking it through our Service Department In closing, it has been agreed that the concern with thedriveway will be addressed by the homeowner and we will address any possibleservice concerns with the LeafFilterTM system through our Service Departmentas soon as the weather permits. If the customer should have any furtherconcerns, she is welcome to call us back for us to address with her. Sincerely, [redacted]Vice-President of InstallationLeafFilterTM North, Inc.

Review: Since having the leaf filter system installed we have had a problem with the

gutter leaking at a seam which was to be fixed before installation according to the warranty. One service person came and "fixed" it but it still leaks. We have made several calls which resulted with no response or promises of someone to call and arrange for a time to repair it. This took 5 calls and then the appointment was canceled. We had to call the contractor back and he promised to come early the next morning. He didn't show up as promised. It wasted a whole day of waiting for him to show up. The customer service with this company is deplorable. The product is extremely expensive even tho it seems to work fairly well. The warranty sounds fantastic but it's not.Desired Settlement: Gutter to be correctly sealed to stop leaking and a monetary adjustment issued according to the warranty
