Leckner Ford Reviews (31)

January 20, 2016To Whom It May Concern:This letter is in response to
the complaint filed by Mr. [redacted], case number [redacted]. In early December 2015 Mr.
[redacted] contacted our dealership with intent to purchase a new vehicle. We had
the vehicle he wanted in stock, a [redacted] (Vin #...

[redacted]) and
agreed to come in person to purchase it. At this time we gave him a value on
his trade, an estimate on what the taxes and fees would be for the state of New
Jersey where he lives, and payment options. The numbers were agreeable to both
parties and we assisted Mr. [redacted] with financing the vehicle. At this time we
rolled in $1,782.19 in to the amount finance by [redacted] to cover his
taxes and fees. Once the paperwork was given
to our tag and title department they sent the information to [redacted], a 3rd party company that we use to get various tax and fees required for our out of
state customers.  They responded with a
quote of $2,786.51 to complete this transaction (See [redacted]). We noticed they
had a charge of $297 for registration fee, which did not apply to Mr. [redacted]
since he was transferring his tags from his trade in, it should only have been
around $25 or less.  That left a
remaining balance $682.94 that was owed to the Middlesex County Motor Vehicle
Commission. Our Sales Manager Phil B[redacted] called Mr. [redacted] and explained
that the initial estimate provided was not enough to cover the total fees owed
and Mr. [redacted] agreed to pay the difference. We then collected that amount via
credit card payment and sent the money to New Jersey DMV (See [redacted]).A few days later Mr. [redacted]
was called in to the DMV to complete the process and they told him we did not
send enough money. They said he still owed an additional $89.50 that we did not
send in. Rightfully so, Mr. [redacted] contacted our accounting department very
frustrated. He proceeded to swear and curse at our Office Manager, [redacted]
She requested that he stop screaming at her so she could figure things out and
he refused. She then told him if he continued to yell vulgar obscenities at her
that she would hang up the phone. He continued and she hung up on him. At this
point the entire situation was brought to my attention and I reached out to Mr.
[redacted] personally. I apologized for the frustration and offered to refund him
the $89.50 that we were unaware of. This was not sufficient for Mr. [redacted] and
he began to scream and swear at me. He informed me that if I didn’t refund him
$1,064.94 that he would “ruin my career” by contacting the Revdex.com and Attorney
General’s office. I made a final attempt to make things right and offered to
reimburse him half of the $682.94 that we didn’t collect the first time. In a
very disrespectful manor he declined and hung up on me. That was the last
contact I had with Mr. [redacted]. I attempted to call him back the next day
thinking he may have cooled off and we could come to an agreement but he did
not return my call. In closing, I do not feel we
are liable to pay Mr. [redacted] the money that was rightfully owed to the State of
New Jersey simply because he is frustrated with the process. It clearly states
in section 6 on the reverse side of the purchase order that he signed in
person, “the Purchaser assumes and agrees to pay any and all such taxes, and
any and all other taxes except income taxes, imposed on or incidental to the
transaction covered by this order, regardless of who may have the primary tax
liability.” In addition, Mr. [redacted] did not pay the money he is requesting in
full to us. Out of the $1,064.94 that he is requesting, he only provided
$682.94 and the remaining amount was financed by [redacted] Financial. If you need
any additional information I cn be reached anytime, 7 days a week at the
numbers below. Thank you for your time.[redacted]

Ms. [redacted],

Leckner Ford did not provide us with an extended License plate when we notified them in a timely manner that the Temp Tags were expiring(5 days before they expired) per Mr. W[redacted]'s promise/agreement to send them if we had not received our State vehicle license plate.  They [redacted] tried to exthort money from us by saying that the only way they would send extended temp tags is if we took out a loan, paid via check or give them our credit card number for their mistake in figuring. We specifically asked them if there would any problem with the taxes before we signed the papers and and Mr. Don W[redacted] and Joe H[redacted] said no.   Leckner Ford has now put it on us to get license plates on our own when we have no idea how or what to do.  This is a very awkward and unfortunate situation that needs resolution.
We would like the following:
01) Have Leckner Ford fulfill their promise to send us an extended Temporary License plate because we contacted them in plenty of time for them to extend them (contrary to what they said)
02) Pay at least half of the $455.75 for the mistake that they made
03) Have Don W[redacted] apologize for all the confusion and problems he caused
04) We need them to help us get License plates for our vehicle  (we do not know how this is done because other dealerships do this for us)
In all my years of purchasing vehicles, I have never had a dealership do this.  I have bought vehicle in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia and never before been don this way.  We need help resolving this.
Thank you,
[redacted]

This is the first I am hearing of this issue. If a remote start is owed to this customer I can have it done in less than a week. I'm not sure who said one would be mailed, that doesn't make much sense, it is a system that needs to be professionally installed. If Mr. Glenn could provide documentation...

stating we owed him this product, I will be more than happy to handle it personally. On every transaction we do there is a form marked "We Owe" that both the dealer and the customer signs. This form list any items that were not able to be completed at the time of purchase. I am available 7 days a week to assist. Thank you

I apologize for the delayed response, after reading this complain I needed to get to the bottom of this on my end to properly response. It took me a few days to find our who Mr. [redacted] was working with and find out why we weren't able to accommodate him. First and foremost, the prices we have...

online are valid and anyone who "locks in" is guaranteed to receive that price. Unfortunately there are a few stipulations that are clearly listed underneath on our disclaimer that state "Pricing includes all rebates and incentives available. May require financing through Ford Motor Credit and as such are subject to lender approval. Special Finance rates offered from FMCC for buyers with approved credit are in lieu of applicable customer cash rebates." That statement is made on every one of our listings because we advertise the lowest possible price, however if a customer chooses to go with the factory special APR the customer cash rebates must be added back in to the price. From what I'm told, this was confusing to Mr. [redacted] and he was upset. Not only did he want our lowest possible advertised price, he wanted further discounts and special financing. Now it's no secret we want to sell him a car more than he wants to buy one, but putting our best price online up front leaves no room for negotiation. I do sincerely apologize that he and his family did not have a favorable experience with my staff. If there is any other information you wish me to provide please let me know and I will do so in a timely manner. Thank you for your time, have a great day.

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I do not accept the offer of this business. Its a scam to get customers in and to have them in confusion until they get to the dealership to find out that this was all way different then the way its advertised. I was told in the response that the customer gets the locked in price when they get here, where as I did not even after I repeatedly told them that I locked in the price online and that is why I drove all the way there. The way its all advertised is a way to fish people in and leave them hanging until they get there. They know they do this because even before they showed me the cars they wanted to talk prices. No one talks about prices on cars even until they are driven and decide on the one they want. The gentlemen that was helping me even told me people sometimes have dropped jaws just when they see the prices of the cars but thats usually never the price they get.

I called today just before 1 p.m. to check on an F-150 for just under $19,000. I spoke with a sales associate verifying the stock number I was calling about. She said she would verify the price and call me back in 5 minutes after she talked with her sales manager. She did call back a couple minutes later saying yes the sales price you see on the internet is the correct price. I responded by saying so you are selling this F-150 for $18,747 which she responded with a yes. We talked about the limited pictures that were there and I was told she would take pictures of the truck and find out more as to why the price was so low. Just over 2 hours later I called to ask about the pictures. She said she was unable to locate the truck on the lot but would confirm with someone that the truck would be at their dealership later that night. As we were talking I heard someone mention the price was now around $28,000. I asked to speak with the sales manager. He pointed out the fact that people make mistakes and that there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the page. The price stood around $28,000. I told him that I understand the disclaimer but I was told verbally by the sales associate who verified the price with him, the sales manager, that the price was correct at $18,747 and their disclaimer had no weight. After going back and forth with both sides picking up our tones he said there was absolutely no way he would let that truck off his lot at that price and there's nothing I can do about it. Then why did he, through his sales associate, tell me the price earlier was $18,747. At the end of the conversation I told him I was going to write a review everywhere I could and notify the military to try to put his dealership on the exempt list. His response was "I am sure you will with all the time you government employees have". After serving over 15 years in service of this country, at times being gone for over half of my childrens lives, I took this extremely insulting and now hope this gets through to some potential buyers.

Review: Ok, We financed our purchase through Ford Motor Credit and at the time of the purchase I specifically asked the finance mgr. about the taxes for the State of West Virginia and he said they sell to out of State customers all the time. He said they are added into to finance agreement. Now a month later, they come back to me and say that we owe them $455.75 to finish paying for taxes owed. All this was supposed to have been added in to the contract that we signed. I could possibly understand them being a few dollars off, but not almost $500.00. The finance Manager Donier W[redacted], promised to send us a temporary Tag if we did not receive our regular truck License by June 13, 2016 as long as it was a couple days before June 13, and he would ship them over night, We notified him on June 9 2016. That was plenty of time to get those to us. We are now without any Tags because they refuse to send us the Temporary Tag renewal promised and they say we owe them $455.75 to finish the deal. We need your help.Desired Settlement: They need to get us our License to be legal and we should not have to pay them any more to get them because taxes title and license were added into to the papers we signed.

Response:

Mrs. [redacted], Mr. [redacted] is correct, we are capable of selling vehicles to customers out of state, as well as complete the tag and title process as a courtesy. We did give him an estimated cost associated with registering his vehicle in West Virginia of $1,482.29 which is subject to change based on the fees associated with his county and/or state. It clearly states in the paperwork he signed that the fees collected are an estimate and are subject to change at his expense. After the purchase we sent the documentation to WV DMV and they informed us that the total to register where he lives is $1,938.04. We reached out immediately to Mr. [redacted] to let him know of the additional fees required by his state. He refused to pay them, which unfortunately holds up our tag and title department from completing his registration. Once his temporary tags expired he called us wanting a new set, our Finance Manager Don W[redacted] informed him that we would not be able to issue him a 2nd set until he payed in full his tax and fees, again he refused. The taxes and fees associated with his state have nothing to do with our company, the price of the vehicle, or our documentation fee. If he would like, we can title the vehicle as required by law and refund him the money we collected for registration and he can complete this process on his own at his local DMV. Ultimately, we had a good experience dealing with Mr. [redacted] and wish to maintain a good business relationship with him. If there is any other information I can provide, or if he would prefer me to send the refund as referenced above, I will be happy to do so. I can be reached day or night at any of the numbers below. Thank you for your time, have a great day. Michael S. V[redacted]General ManagerLeckner Ford(540)709-1280 office(540)709-1251 faxwww.lecknerford.com

Review: told Ihad to pay $682.94 for county tax or I could not get the reg trans/title in NJ, after doing so DMV in NJ called me in to do the paper work and told the dealer didn't send enough money so I had to pay another $89.50 out of pocket. Then the NJDMV told me the dealer over charge me for the registration transfer, the dealer charged me $297.00 for a fee that was only $4.50.Desired Settlement: pay me back for all the money I had to pay out of my pocket and for the over charge (total $1064.94) all of that cost was already in the contract.

Review: Hello, I am writing this complaint for very false advertisement. I am looking at cars and suvs to purchase. I went to autotrader and saw that there were a couple of ford explorers for sale at a great price compared to some others I saw. Online it said the price MSRP was around $40,000 and discounted to the price of anywhere from $30,000 to $36,000 on a couple of the suvs. On their website it said lock in this price and so I clicked on that. I waited and no one contacted me the next day, I called back the next day and talked to the dealership and made a appointment to go look at the car. I took my whole family thinking these are great prices and I would be able to negotiate a little and be in the perfect price range. I took my family driving almost 2 hours to get their and ready to buy. As soon as we get their I went into the dealership and talked to the female I was talking to over the phone. She took me to another salesperson and said we will be working together with you. I said that's no problem they made a list of what I wanted to see. Then all of a sudden they come back and said wait lets talk about the price before we even look at the suvs. I said no problem I saw the prices online but we can still go over them. Then they sat me down and said "oh the prices that are online are not the real prices, we only put those prices up to bring in customers there's no way we could do that for you" I was stunned I said what are u talking about I had talked to you guys before we came. I was just basically told those prices are not what I am getting even though online it said "your price" In a matter of fact they told me if I had told them that I wanted to get that price over the phone they would have told me not to even come and waste my time because there is no way I was getting that. I along with my 2 sons and wife were just in shock looking at each other of what is going on. Then another thing I was told was I cant get 0% financing. Even though ford is doing for everyoneDesired Settlement: I would like the dealership to apologize to me for wasting my time, and to give me the deal that I had gone to get. Not only is it misleading but they are doing it on purpose. They know what they are doing because they kept saying that's the only way we would get people to come in. But its all lies. I want to get the deal I offered them for the 2016 explorer xlt. The manager even didn't take us seriously when we told him. Instead of working anything out they showed us the door and told us they cant do anything for us. I want my price I went to go get and the suv I want.

If there is any other information you wish me to provide please let me know and I will do so in a timely manner. Thank you for your time, have a great day. Response:

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I do not accept the offer of this business.
