Bait and switch for repair services.
Bait and switch.

The screen replacements are not OEM, so the screen quality will not be the same as an original, unless you ask. They carry a few different varieties of glass, and without telling us of options, they started us with the lowest quality. We were surprised that they did not inform us of that. This became an issue since my wife is a professional photographer/artist. In short, they kept back this information to upsell $60, beyond the original $60; it's an old-fashioned "bait and switch," in that they do not tell you any of this upfront. In fact, they didn't tell us at all until we were about to leave and then complained; this added another 40 minutes or so as they did another repair. (Remember that *** can replace a screen for just a bit more than this.)

We were told there were two locations. After driving to one, it was closed and no one was there during business hours (the worker was sick).

Upon driving to a second location, we were then promised no wait (reserving a spot for us), but it turned into 24 hours (including an hour in the store). We were told that we'd be called once the phone was ready, but did not receive a call. We then waited another hour while the glass was exchanged for better glass. While the workers are not to blame for this, customers should be aware that promises over the phone are not necessarily kept at the actual location. The workers themselves told us that these realities do not match. They said this was common.

The workers gave mixed answers about water resistance, so the lack of consistency is worrisome. I'm not sure which response is true.

The workers said the owner was never available, only via telephone, so it was sad that we were not able to talk to him in person. If you'd like to talk to an owner, be prepared for them to walk out of the room and talk to the owner in private, which does not allow access to the owner.

Oddly, one worker asked if the phone was tested. He said, "Yes, but not in front of the customer." That exchange was odd because we were told to pay prior to having a chance to check for problems.

To be fair, the OEM screen looks good, at least for for now. Other users report problems later on, but we have only had this for a day. For now, the problems were related to failed promises and fluctuating prices.

Desired Outcome

Refund so we can repair the screen at *** instead.

Hello Sir,
I have a few issues with the way you are handling your situation. You described my store as a bait and switch. This phrase implies that I offer you a lower price to get you in my store and then I try and show you a higher price screen. This is totally false we repair approximately 1000 phones a month and we never try and upsell people to an original screen. I don't even like selling original screens.
The average phone is upgraded between eight and 12 months by the time people break their screen they want to get it repaired as reasonably priced as possible because they know in just a few short months they're going to upgrade to the new iPhone 11 or 12 or whatever the next phone may be.
You inquired about a better quality screen we did not offer me you inquired about a better quality screen we did not offer it. We only sell original quality screens maybe once every three months.
My next issue is that I don't believe you're from Milyer with how the Revdex.com works you see the only reason to get them Involved is if you can't come to an agreement with me my name is Jonathan and I am the owner.
I spoke with Michael and he told me at no time did you inquire about getting a refund. If you would like a refund we will gladly take off the parts that we installed on your phone and put on a broken screen and give you a full refund Michael tells me that you never requested that. The Revdex.com is here To help handle disputes that can't be solved and obviously all you had to do was ask and I would've solved your problem

We spent several hours addressing this problem, so telling us we did not address this properly is confusing to say the least.

Here's the issue: We were never informed of different options of screens. The screen replacement was not the same quality, and we were not told about that. We only caught that when about to leave the store. At that point, they told us they could give the same quality but for much more money. It's not right to replace screens without telling customers that the quality will not be the same. There is no notification about that.

You mention selling 1000 screens -- yet none of those customers are alerted that the quality will not be the same?

I don't know what "I don't believe you're from Milyer" means. I have no idea what Milyer is. I am not sure who Michael is. We talked with multiple people.

Now a few days have passed, and the Paris phone case that we bought for $25 is falling apart. It's less than a week old.

The trick is that we are from out of state, and your business is located in a tourist area, so that is part of the problem. Most people would not know the screen is a different quality until they leave the area; in our case, we noticed that earlier.

I think it's essential that customers are informed ahead of time that the screen will not be the same quality. Otherwise, people who are on vacation are waiting 24 hours (as in our case), then needing to wait longer and pay more, which was not mentioned in the beginning.

In your *** review of my store you said that the screen we put on your phone is working perfectly but now you're asking me to give you a refund without giving me my product back
All you need to do is go repair your phone elsewhere then send me back my original screen in perfect working condition just like you received it and I will gladly give you A refund.

Unfortunately, I don't think you're reading my reviews or responses carefully enough.

To start, the screen is only one issue of many that I mentioned. In my *** review, I mentioned many other concerns, and the Revdex.com is welcome to review that.

Secondly, the issue is not functionality of the screen, but how the screen was sold. In other words, my primary complaint involves sales practices.

Again, I'm asking what measures you are taking to inform your customers that your replacement screens are not the same quality as the original -- and if they want that quality, they need to pay more.

It's not right to NOT tell customers, and then after they notice, you offer something that costs more. Not only is that deceptive (withholding extremely important information), but it costs extra time and money. In our case, we had to wait double the time, since that information was not shared with us upfront.
