Low Rates Appliance Repair Reviews (38)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
When the problem first arose, I contacted *** directly as we had been so unhappy with the service we received from Low Rates initially and I was willing to pay for a service call and what I thought would be a minor repair rather than deal with the previous Low Rates technicianBefore the *** technician arrived, I explained the problem stating it had been replaced months ago, I knew the warranty was one year, but it had suddenly quit working*** agreed to try to resolve the problemAfter examining the ice maker the technician determined the ice maker was defective and asked for the original paperworkHe also remarked that the front cover of the ice maker had not been replaced which was unusual since it was part of the new ice makerWhen I showed him the paper work he said Low Rates was not certified by *** to install and work on their parts thus *** would not be able to replace it because of thatHe also noted there was no part number listed on the invoice so he couldn't actually be sure it was an actual *** replacement partThat's when we contacted Low Rates and again they stated they were certificated to work on *** refrigeratorsAfter we explained the problem, the manager denied she said that and told us we would nee to pay a service charge to have them come out and look at the problemI then filed the complaint with Revdex.com
Since then the manager contacted meAfter an exhaustingly lengthy conversation during which she told me almost everything I said couldn't possibly be true, she came to her own resolution which was to have me contact the *** technician and direct him to put in writing everything he told us when he made the service call, and then I was to send that information to her.
The *** technician was extremely helpful, and may even be willing to do so, however, I am not willing to pay him to come out again and explain his findings in writingI am already out $plus one service callI am not going to increase the amount of our loss
My complaint is NOT about the warranty Low Rates offeredMy complaint is that, one, I'm not sure I actually have a new *** ice maker since the face of the ice maker is missing and no part number was included on the invoiceSecondly, because Low Rates is not certified by *** to repair and install refrigerator, which the manager claimed when I asked her specifically both times I called, thus invalidating ***'s warranty on the ice maker
I will send a copy of the invoice as requested.
Regards,
*** ***

Dear Revdex.com
We contacted our mutual costumer again and tried to resolve the issue directly. We did express our apology and explained to him that the invoice that he sighed has paragraph Limited Liability to express exactly that type of situation we got  "our insurance carrier requires us to inform you that due to the nature of your appliances installation ,any damage incurred by our service technicians the product, the surrounding cabinets, or the flooring covering ,when removing your appliance for repair(s) and in performing the requested service(s) will be your responsibility, and relieve us of any cost of repair(s),should damage occur.(naturally we will be as careful as possible)"
And again its not effect the look or the preferment of the unit.  We still offered refund of $200 costumer refused.
Thank you. [redacted].

Tech arrived over one hour after appt window, was polite, but hasty and asked questions that made me suspect of his ability to competently diagnose and repair. Consequently, we opted not to proceed with recommended repair and paid service fee. He left service ticket in broken English that was not legible. Later found he had affixed a Low Rates Appliance Repair sticker in our refrigerator...a newer appliance that he was not asked to inspect or repair! When I called office to complain, person who claimed to be the owner, [redacted], was defensive and belligerent. When I advised her I would file a complaint with the Revdex.com she threatened me with a lawsuit.

I want to warn people not to use this business for any reason. They are Thieves! If you read Yelp about them, I wish I had, you would not use them at all. [redacted] came out to repair my Thermador oven and broiler, used General Electric parts, and charged me $1,000. He was here less than 1 hour, charged $568 for labor, $400 for parts plus tax. Next day I called a certified Thermador dealer, Nutter Electric, and to my dismay was told they would have charged $363, using Thermador parts, labor and travel. These people are bad. They decide on the spot what they think you can pay: your zip code, your house and your appliance. Terrible people, should not be in business at all. They did refund me, after my husband and attorney called numerous times, $250.

These are the following inaccuracies regarding the phone conversation as reported by the manager: The manager told us the warranty was for only 3 mos. (even though 1 yr. was written on invoice), she said a return trip would be at our expense, she never mentioned the possibility of an alternate source of the problem, and she never offered to discount anything. She was accurate in the fact the customer was clearly very upset as she was not willing to accept responsibility for anything and continued to claim her company was certified to work on [redacted] products when in fact they were/are not. The initial repair resulted in the installation of an ice maker, manufacturer unknown, during which a part of the existing cover was broken. (When we called about the broken part the manager agreed to replace it, but never followed through.) We have contacted [redacted] and they were willing to consider replacement of the ice maker (even though it was technically out of the one-year warranty period) until it was determined that the repair service we used to install it was not authorized by [redacted] to do so. [redacted] recently determined the ice maker to be defective and questioned whether or not it was indeed a [redacted] product since a new identifying cover was not included and the part number was omitted from the invoice. We want a service, certified to install [redacted] products in our [redacted] refrigerator-freezer, to replace the ice maker and not a company only claiming to be certified.

[redacted]

They came out to fix my fridge which they could not do, and didn't give me the $15.00 discount for first time customers. So I ended up paying the service charge in full. There is nothing on the site that says you have to complete the repair to get the discount, only that the 45.00 would go towards the repair if a repair was done. $15.00 discount was for new customers, which I was. they were also two hours late for an appointment scheduled between 11 and 1. They came at 3.

Dear Revdex.com,

On May 31, Mrs. [redacted] contacted our company on Sunday that she has an emergency, her refrigerator was leaking and needed a immediate attention. We offered her an appointment between 1-3. She told that she willing to pay extra just to get to her...

place earlier that Sunday morning and we did   had our technician earlier. He identified the problem and offed the estimate to fix it. She agreed and approved the estimate and wasn't charge any extra cost. The retail cost for that part is $185 and mark up was $65. She was happy with the service and paid with her [redacted] card. About 3-4 days later another gentlemen contacted us claiming been the owner of that place and demanding lower price. He wasn't there at the time of the appointment and can only assume for how long out tech. was there despite the fact that we were hired and paid by a different person we offer the gentlemen part number and also offered discount of $30 off. he still requested more like half off. Unfortunately we are not willing to offer that and also tenant Mrs. [redacted] confirm later on that she was happy with the service and fine with the cost of it.

Thank you. [redacted]

Dear Revdex.com,
The previous company offered to fix this refrigerator for the price over $1,600 and we did fixed it for $950. We  explained this costumer the repair we were planning to do and the cost of it. She agreed and the job was done. After the repair was done and refrigerator...

start working she  called regarding different issues. She told that her ice maker wasn't working and I offered to have  our technician come back free of charge and check, although the problem that was repaired was  not related to ice maker. She refused! Next she requested to give her the parts number that were install and I did, It took me a while because this unit is older model, over 20 years old and some the original parts were discontinue. She was calling back again and again getting angry with me. When finally I gave her the part number she told its $15 part which is not correct and even if you search in the computer or call manufacture she probably was unable to find it!!! Again its a older refrigerator and find the parts pretty difficult.
I also confirming that she was offered discount of $100 off and she refuse that too. She got angry with me again and hang up the phone. When I dial later assume its got accidently disconnected she didn't pick up any more.
Thank you. [redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I am the owner of the unit and I'm responsible to reimburse Ms. [redacted] (tenant).
We were charged $250.00 for the part and the retail cost of the part is not $185.00 but Approx. $135.00 on numerous web sites ( free shipping), thus their mark up is $115.00 not $65.00. Their excuse for the excessive mark up was because "they had to come out on a Sunday"....but that's why we were charged what we feel is an excessive labor amount of $180.00. Why should we also be charged  an excessive mark up on the part.
I did not assume the time it took. I was told by my tenant (Ms. [redacted]) that it took approx. one hour.
Our first conversation a $30.00 discount was insinuated but never offered and our follow up conversation it was not again mentioned.
Please check your record (Revdex.com) as to the many complaints against this business, 6 out of 15 were regarding billing.

The part was not new and I was lied to.  The lady on the phone was very rude and nothing was resolved because she was so defensive about her position and would not allow me to follow through with one sentence.

Dear Revdex.com,

The company admits they bent the metal frame of my refrigerator (see attached photos), which is causing the spring on the freezer door to squeak when you open it.  Their technician used a crow bar to lift the refrigerator which bent the frame.  He tried to stop the squeaking but apologized and said that was the best he could do.  Therefore in order for the door not to squeak, the bent frame has to be replaced; requiring the refrigerator to be emptied, removed from the built in cabinets, lay refrigerator on the side, and the frame support assembly be replaced.
The cost estimate for the job is $1,000, therefore I am expecting a full refund due to the damage their technician caused.

Dear Revdex.com,
Our goal to provide each and every costumer with exceptional service and professional job. Again, the estimate was given ahead of time(the copy of invoice with authorized signatures from this costumer available to proof)  as of right now the microwave is working . I don't feel we are able to offer this costumer any thing else especially after her comment ( YOU HAVE TO GO BACK WERE YOU CAME FROM). I did ask her if any thing else I could do for her and her reply was "No I would like to file complained against your company". Unfortunately if this is something personal there is not whole lot we can do.
Thank you. Y[redacted].

Dear Revdex.com,

We are sincerely surprised regarding this issue. We maintain to respond to our costumers 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. We apologize for this incident and did checked all our lines to make sure all of them running properly.  We suspect most...

likely this costumer might miss dial and would like to inform that all lines are with a live operator and if all lines are busy its roll over to Answering Service with a live operators too.

Thank you. [redacted] O.

Dear Revdex.com,
We had a repairmen replaced condenser motor for build in refrigerator the unit was removed and the new part was installed a week later we got a complained from costumer that this motor is to laud. We did send the same repair man again and replaced motor with another one...

less noisy. After   about another week or so we received a phone call from wife that the motor still too noisy and she wants to have a different technician to come out. We did made another appointment and send a different technician to replace this part again. When he moved the unit out he used a tool to help him and apparently the metal frame underneath the refrigerator got bend a bit  the technician make sure the this wont effect ether a look or the way refrigerator will work. The costumer confirmed that its work nice and quit this time. Later on the husband called and told because of this issue I have to refund some of his money back him. We offered $100 off he refused and ask $600 . We didn't agree again refrigerator working good and its not some thing you can see by looking at it. We still honor warranty and sure it'll work for a long time.

Thank you. [redacted].
