MagicJack LP Reviews (24)

I have been using Magic Jack for my home phone for several years. The Magic Jack Plus device had stopped working, so I logged into my account for support on how to trouble shoot or replace the device. I found nothing whatsoever regarding upgrades or rolling over the service. So I bought a new device from Radio Shack. Again, there was no documentation or information regarding how to switch my existing service. So I plugged it in as instructed on the package. When I checked the line a few days later, it said I needed to register the device. I logged into my account and did so. There were no options to roll over the service, at least I didn't see anything referring to it.

I noticed that I was charged twice for 911 service which called my attention to having 2 different accounts. I got onto their chat service to find out why, only to be told that I can't roll my existing service over now because I didn't choose that option initially and now it is too late. This is not something that can't be done, it is simply something they will not do.

I just want to warn others that this company doesn't document anything and be very cautious as you proceed. My device lasted 2-3 years, then I was left with no idea how to proceed. No tech support exists in documentation for this problem. I made the mistake of thinking that it would be intuitive. It is not.

I decided to purchase a magicjackgo online on December 1, 2014. I had looked at the device prior to that date when it was at the $59.95 price and was glad to see they were running a Black Friday/Cyber Monday Special that took $20.00 off the price so it was going to be $39.95 for the device and one year of service. I placed my order and waited for it to come. By today, December 10, 2014 I felt like it was taking too long to show up and decided to call to check the status of my order. The first lady I spoke with told me that my order did not go through and she had to transfer me to someone else to find out why. I was left on hold for 12 minutes and finally hung up because I not able to hold any longer at that time. I called back about 2 hours later and needed to be transferred 3 times before someone could halfway explain what happened and the explanation makes no sense. [redacted] claimed something was wrong with my IP address and that the credit card was not able to be accepted. Why not? I have used the same card on Amazon and Ebay numerous times and NEVER had a problem with the charges or receiving my merchadise in a timely manner. I think this is a bait and switch in the pricing. The company has all my info in their system, I had to give them my email address to find the account and then they had me verify my address. Why was an email not sent to me to advise that there was a problem with my order. If I gave a credit card, clearly I was interested in purchasing, why not advise me that something was wrong?? I am now being told I cannot purchase the item at the Black Friday/Cyber Monday price of $39.95 which was only offered for those 4 days. I must now purchase at the $49.95 price that they are currently running. What is the point?? At this rate I will also have to pay the $10 to port my current home telephone number which makes it the same price as paying their regular price of $59.95 with free portage. There is no deal in that! Or just as easy, go to Best Buy and get it with no waiting. My advice, go with their competition. I have already called OOMA, customer service was much better!

This is not a business. You do not get any service lost of money and time. This a fraud. http://www.yelp.com/biz/magicjack-lp-aka-ymax-corp-west-palm-beach

I got my MagicJack a few months ago and everything was working fine. Suddenly, I started getting an influx of random calls. When I call people, they say there are beeping noises on the other side along with a constant dropping of calls. I don't sell my own phone number and MagicJack says that they don't sell my number. Then my MagicJack device was deregistered and when I called, account review said that I violated the terms of service and "they do not want to do business with me". I asked what term I violated and they did not say which term it was! I am displeased with their customer service and this MagicJack. I do not recommend this product and if you're considering purchasing this, my very very cautious. In fact, just buy their competition!
