Maritime Documentation Center Reviews (%countItem)

This company is sending you requests for register your vessel and make it look like this would be the official way of getting the registration done. We discovered too late that this is a hoax with fees 3 times the official rate. A cancellation request submitted immediately after submission was answered with a rude letter where they point out all their fine print where they do not accept cancellations. How on Earth is that legal???
This company is the worst! Stay away!!! I would give ZERO stars but have to add one to submit this review!

The form of deletion for my vessel was easy as pie on the Maritime Documentation website.I didn't even have to leave my house. I accessed everything with ease and got a fast return. Thanks again, guys for making my life easy.

Best vessel documentation company around.I recently purchased a yacht and of course I needed the papers for it.I went on Maritime Documentation website and submitted the registration documents and I was the proud owner of a boat in no time.Highly recommend you use them for any needs.

So, I filed a complaint in October.. I accepted the fact that I got taken advantage of and paid for three years of service. I originally emailed them to cancel and went back and forth a few times but realized they got me and I was not going to get a refund.. per a worker.. I accepted that and moved on..
Imagine my surprise when my documentation renewal was late.. I contacted the original person I emailed and he said .." well you cancelled via email"...
THEY NEVER REFUNDED MY MONEY AND THEY DID NOT DO WHAT I PAID THEM TO DO.. can you imagine.. I cant believe that a company has the right to NOT refund me then say I cancelled so they did not complete the service.. AND KEEP THE MONEY!!!!!!
just want them to do what I actually paid them to do..

Kenneth S,
Maritime Documentation Center. located in Billings Mt is a Scam. They make their website look like Coast Guard Documentation Center. They have been in business for only one year and have many complaints.

This place is allegedly a middle-man between boat owners and the US Coast Guard. They file the necessary forms for vessel documentation. I used this company to get my newly purchased boat documented with the USCG in the fall of 2017. My Certificate finally arrived in December of 2017, and all was well for almost a year. Then in September of 2018, I received a "courtesy letter" to remind me that my documentation was set to expire on December 31, 2018. So I immediately sent them $70 for another year of documentation. The certificate arrived within days but, the expiration date had been moved up to September 30, 2019 (three months short of a full year). I have tried contacting them by email, phone, and chat window. The chat was the only one that responded, saying that "payment earlier than 60 days from expiration may result in an adjustment".

Maritime Documentation Center uses unethical business practices to present themselves as a government agency for renewing vessel documentation. I fell for their approach and renewed the license for my boat. After completing the transaction, I immediately realized my error and contacted them to cancel the transaction. Their business policy is that all the money is non-refundable including the licensing fee that would be paid the the United States Coast Guard. They refuse to refund my money.

There are numerous complaints about this company on the internet including the Revdex.com.
If the Revdex.com can help resolve this dispute, I would appreciate it. More importantly, if there is a way to restrict these unethical businesses from existing and praying on the unwary, hurried, or trusting public, that would be wonderful.

I also fell for this scam. I thought that the US Coast Guard documentation fees went up which is why they were charging $75, expecting that they would take a $5-$10 service fee. I signed up for two years. After I clicked the submit button I went to the US Coast Guard site and saw that their documentation fee was still $26. Within 10 minutes I sent an email to Maritime Documentation Center saying that I wanted to cancel my transaction. The next day, they sent me an email saying that they have canceled my transaction AND will be keeping my money. If you take the time to read through their terms and conditions it clearly spells out that there are no refunds. It also tells you all of the nasty things they will do to you if you engage with your bank to block payment. Shame on my for not reading the fine print. However, one does assume that most businesses will operate with a sense of fairness. Not them. Stay away!

the letter this company males you sent makes it seem this is an official government agency to document your boat... they are a third party and charge a lot more then what it costs to go directly to the government website.. there is fine print at the end of the process stating they are a "private company" but no warnings ... they do not spell out clearly that you are paying them a lot to renew a document for a boat... I truly thought the letter was from the government agency and this was the only way to pay.. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS... I REPEAT , THERE ARE NO REFUNDS !!!!. I actually paid for 3 years for the service... I totally got scammed and taken advantage of .. when I tried to cancel 10 minutes later they said I will be contacted via email. I got an email 2 days later with highlighted areas and my signature. they must have a template to send people after we find out we just got taken advantage of... its a shame because I am on top of things and I really feel I got taken advantage of... so please you DO NOT need to use this service.. it cost 26 dollars directly on the USCG website. learn from my mistake..

Maritime documentation center is set up to look like an official coast guard site for vessel documentation. When I called and asked they said they were a third party and not part of the US Coast Guard. They are applying for vessel renewal and signing my name for me. The fee is $26, they charge $75 and claim it is comperable to the actual fee (which is actually triple). When asked to cancel my order after educating myself further, they agreed to, but insist on keeping my money. It is a scam and running on the edge of the law. The illegal part is signing peoples names and submitting to the government.

I would advise that boaters do not use this third party for renewing their vessel documentation. The may not be illegal but they certainly work to entrap you and are borderline if not out right deceptive. They also charge excessive fees ($75 vs $26) vs what the Coast Guard charges to do the same thing.
I was not careful in identifying their process and paid $150 for two years of documentation and they would not provide the second year because I contested the original charge but did pay it.
Dealing with them has been a very unsatisfactory and costly experience. They should get no stars. The rating doesn't allow me to do that however. If boaters do not use them, they may fail and not continue to take advantage of others.

This company has designed there website, communication and overall web presence to appear as though they are an official government agency. They obviously use Government resources to find and communicate with Vessel owners that have existing federal boat registration and they convince them to register there boat through this company at a 300 -1000% markup. I called them out on it within a few minutes of pushing the submit button, they wouldn't refund my money, they wouldn't speak about this issue. They threatened to send me to collections if I disputed the charge with my credit card company. the coastguard web site warns of this third party web site and there are many complaints on line warning of them. also the coastguard states they are not authorized to issue and documentation on their behalf, which deems it illegal

I have asked for my money back because I found out they are over charging me for a service that I can do for myself..

My number is *** I just received an email from the company and they said they could help me with the paperwork and they would not give me the money back either. If they can’t do the job then they don’t get to keep the money either. I want my money back.

Next time I will go directly to the USCG like I usually do. This company sent out my documentation and 2 months after I ordered it I still didn't have it then I moved now they tell me if I want a copy I have to pay another $75
Would not recommend this company to anyone.

this company refuses to refund my $150.00 after I canceled. The vendor portrays themselves as the United States Coast Guard Vessel Documentation and ABSOLUTELY NOT this government service. Minutes after I was sent an email at which point I realized that this is NOT an official government website, did I then try and cancel this submission. After trying to call several times and getting no answer, I submitted a request via email. I was told that by submitting my credit card information I agreed to their terms and conditions, which I never saw nor do I agree too, and that they do not refund anyone anytime.
I have received NO GOODS OR SERVICES from this company and would like my money refunded to my credit card.

The "Marine Documentation Center" charged me their fee for a 2-year renewal of my boat's documentation. An hour later when I realized that I was being scammed, I notified them that I did not want to use their services. They canceled my order, performed no service, and kept my money. My credit card company could not help me because I accepted their terms and conditions by clicking "submit" on their website. Legal thievery...they are unethical people.

They refused to provide documentation I had paid for and just kept my money.

I also received a renewal notice from "Maritime Documentation Center", but it seemed like it was a few months early. Luckily, I did some research -- I recommend checking the USCG notice at *** This is obviously one of the scams they warn about!

on 7/31/2018, I filled out an application for title registration for my boat online because I was misled to believe that this company was legitimate government Coastguard agency. However, after I paid and contacted the Coastguard, I realized that this was 3rd party private company. On the front page of the company website, it does not make it clear or state that it is not government agency. The initial confirmation email the company generated and sent to me made it look like very legit as if it was official government agency.

The processor by the name of Leah T contacted me by email requesting for ridiculous documents including vessel built materials, constructions, notorized public bill of sale and etc. Ms. T would not pick up the phone or contact me as she only dealt with emailing. She is not acknowledgeable about the guidelines which would recognize my sale/bill of sale if the purchase was handled by a dealer. Every time, I called the company asking to speak to her, I was advised to email only. No phone contacts were accepted. For the last 2-3 days, Ms. T continued sending out ridiculous requests. Since, my application has not been processed and I have not been given an official certificate number, I then requested her to cancel my application and refund the fee. However, she ignored my request.

Please contact the company to address my concern.

This company sends documents that look like they come from the US Coast Guard but they are not. They refused to give a refund minutes after I hit accept. They are a total scam.

On Friday June 29 I applied to have a boat documented and I used my credit card to pay the 550 dollars. On Saturday, June 30th the boat deal fell thru and I no longer needed this companies help at this time. The offices were closed all weekend and I finally reached out on Monday July 2 and was told to email the company. emailed them informing them I no longer need this service. They responded back by citing some code ***(e) stating no refunds for applications or processing fees will be issued. I called the *** and seemed their assistance. They at first showed shock that tis company was charging 400 dollars more than that it would've cost me to document directly with the *** and they also went further by saying that at least the *** fees should be kept and the rest refunded to me. As I was emailing this company back and forth I noticed an unopened Email from them requesting some documents to be filled out and signed so that they can begin the process... I had missed tat email and never submitted it to them further proving they did nothing with my application because they haven't started any work other than a email request for paperwork to be filled out. I contacted my bank and they are disputing the charge.
