My name is [redacted] and I recently purchased a home from Maronda Homes in This was my third home purchase and the first one that I ever purchased as a new buildMy wife and I were pretty nervous going into this endeavorDidn't want to make a mistake and wanted to make sure we picked the right home builder for our needsWe spent about to months researching all of our optionsWe finally decided to go with Maronda Homes after we looked at their house plans and did some on-line researchI saw some of the negative feedback on line and brought that up to our sales agent Ian D [redacted] Ian put us at ease and gave my wife and I that feeling that he was a person of integrityI have to say it came down to price, house design, location and the gut feeling we got from IanMy wife and I are not quick to jump on these sites and make comments either way about a company or an individual....in this case I felt it was important to tell our story as it seems to go against the grain of what I was reading on this siteWe had a wonderful experience with Ian and Jack our production supervisorThey were the epitome of professionalismWe moved into our house two weeks ago and it is everything we imaginedI can not speak for anyone else...but, our experience was better than expectedI have already recommended Maronda to my friends who are looking to build

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below While appreciate the response from Maronda, all it states is that they are pursuing their options but offer no solution to me This issue is over a year old and I have a number of concerns: There is currently a tarp on my roof, does Maronda expect me to pay to have it fixed? Or are they planning to send someone out? If I have to replace the roof before Maronda homes has figured out their legal options? Then what? Will be I be compensated? What is Maronda's response to the missing drip edge? A representative came to my home, inspected it several weeks ago, but I have had any feedback Why is there no-one from Maronda homes updating me on the status of what they doing to remedy the situation? I'm sorry but simply stating they are working the issue is not an acceptable response to my claim.I am more than willing to meet with a representative from Maronda to discuss these matters in detail.Thank you [redacted] Regards, [redacted]

Maronda accepted the contract in February The contract had a projected closing date of 9/30/The PROJECTED close date of July may have been discussed back in December when our sale team member was discussing the potential project with the customersNaturally, this would have been based on a contract being written at that ***e.Since we did not agree to a contract in December or January...then the Projected dates would naturally move to a later dateI hope this makes sense to everyone. We did have several delays through this build processWe needed to purchase the lot from the developer that we do business with in this community. One of our vendors passed away during the construction of this houseIt was a difficult ***e for all involved to say the least. We had a new building inspector that held us up for at least weeksHe wanted to see manufacturer guidelines for drilling holes in engineered productsWe promptly provided those documents and the inspector said it was not good enough...he now wanted to talk directly with a Boise Cascade engineerWe arranged for that to happen at a ***e that was convenient for the inspectorThat conference call happened and apparently satisfied the inspectorThe key point is that we had done nothing wrong, we had followed the standard proceduresI first heard something about a $10,grant of some kind that the county started to offer at the end of the summer or even some ***e in SeptemberI think the entire team wanted the customers to be able to get this grantWe did not write the contract with any of this in mindAs I said, we did not know anything about a grant until we were well into the build of this houseWith that being said...this was about the ***e that the Realtor demanded that he get to speak to myselfI explained that we were very sorry about the delays and did my best to explain the main reasonsThe Realtor asked for us to pay extension fees for the grant and asked for other concessions.I feel that we are being asked to pay for extension fees for a potential county grant that we knew nothing about through the first 66% of this project and then it was a situation in which we would have loved to get this project wrapped up in enough ***e to allow the customer to get that grant but it didn't work out because of several reasons that I have already stated. Then it became a situation in which we want you to pay for extension fees and you need to offer free items for the house to make this problem go awayWe do not charge over inflated prices for our houses!! We do cost analysis We do not have allowances for such items as extension fees and other free itemsIf one were to do a check on the cost of this house...a fair market analysisThey would find that none of our competition is coming close to our selling price because we do not over charge on the front side...it is priced very fairlyFor that reason I can not offer any free itemsIf the customer is not satisfied...I will certainly offer a full refund with no question asked and a heart felt apology!

Maronda Homes stands behind its work and remains committed to fulfill its obligations to the homeownerAs the homeowner noted, we have been working with him to resolve his concerns since he first contacted us, and have made repairs and replacements in an effort to resolve the homeowner’s issues Maronda Homes looks forward to coming to a satisfactory resolution and will continue to work in good faith to determine the cause and solution to the homeowner’s concerns

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below The response from the business means absolutely nothing to usWeeks of trying to contact this company and getting ignored and the only reason they responded is because I filed on Revdex.comHe did not discuss how he would compensate for all the errors that they have causedAnd we NEVER asked for more money off from them, other than to only pay for the extension feesNever once did we ask for "free money off." If we would of made the original contract date none of this would be an issueSo, yes after them not paying the extension fees from THERE delays I do believe we should somehow be compensatedThis company has not apologized until recently, and they only have after getting this complaint on Revdex.comAnd this doesn't explain half the delays that have occurredMaybe, if they would of been honest and detailed from the get go things wouldn't have escalated this farWill I ever build with Maronda again? Absolutely not, but I refuse to pull out of our contract, that we have invested a year inI will know from now on how this company acts and if I need to contact them I know to come to Revdex.com considering this is the only thing that will get there attention Regards, [redacted]

We closed on this house early in the Month of March. We had 6 different change orders that were processed on this project that were well after the appropriate time to submit change orders. A series of change orders was submitted 7 months after the original contract was signed. This would have been... in October 2017. It should be noted that some of the 6 change orders had multiple items listed on them and several were not simple in nature. We had several changes that would be considered substantial change orders. Our drawings were fine...the problem was having to go back and add a wider driveway the entire length of the drive to the curb along with many other changes.

We entered into a contract to build a house for the [redacted] 's on May 17, This particular contract required that we purchase the lot they selected from the developer because it was not one that we already ownedThe process of purchasing the lot was being held up for reasons that I will explain below. We submitted the plans to the HOA for review as this was a new house design to our division....it was at this time that we discovered that the garage needed to switched from a front load to a side load garage and would need a brick wing wall addedWe promptly approached the [redacted] 's and informed them of the situation...this was still in Mayaccording to our e-mail records and logsWe presented three different options for a side load garage and wanted to know if they still wanted to proceed with the project/ contractThey selected one of the three options we presented for a side load garageThey also requested that we change the wing wall configuration and wanted to negotiate a wider driveway for this project (this had taken us to about mid-June)At this point...Mr [redacted] and I had a personal phone conversation about the projectHe wanted the different wing wall and a wider driveway at no charge...we negotiated a deal that I felt was very fairBut, more importantly...I felt it made them happy and excited to proceedThis took us into the latter parts of June....this was the critical decision block for all parties involved as we still had not purchased the lot and wanted to make sure the customer was happy and wanted to proceedThey absolutely wanted to move forwardWe purchased the lot, had our plot plan redesigned to accommodate the changes, had our drawingschanged to match the changes that we both agreed to make and submitted the building application.Mr [redacted] states the following in his complaint....."When September rolled around and we still had not broken ground on the house I contacted the permit office and found out that no paperwork had been submitted to them at all."I have an official letter from the [redacted] asking for clarification of items on our drawings/ permit plan set back in AugustThis clearly means we had submitted the building application before Mr [redacted] called the department in September.I can not honestly say why the department stated otherwise...but, I can say and prove that we had submitted well before September.I was very surprised when the [redacted] 's notified us of their desire to cancel and was disappointed as we could have avoided some major expensesIn all fairness, we spent tens of thousands of dollars after the [redacted] 's agreed to proceed. We made a decision to not exercise paragraph of our contract that would enable us to recover up to 3,additional dollars in expenses because of "buyer default".We opted to cancel the deal and to offer the [redacted] 's a full transfer of deposit monies if they decided to purchase another house or an existing home from us in the next months

My wife and I were under contract with Maronda Homes in May of We were mislead many different times by our sales rep and had to change the layout of our house because the sales rep did not know the correct specs for the specific subdivision we were to build inThe sales rep sent us multiple emails stating that all the paperwork for permits had been submitted in June and again in July after changes had been made to the layoutWhen September rolled around and we still had not broken ground on the house I contacted the permit office and found out that no paperwork had been submitted to them at allAt this point we had been mislead and lied to and had no trust for this company or our sales rep and we terminated our contractWe had an up front cost of $3,that Maronda will not refundI understand that businesses have starting costs but in our case this company didn't start anything and we feel that we should be refundedI don't want anyone else to go through what we did a

Built our brand new home less than years agoThe roof was installed improperly with substandard shinglesThey are unwilling to fix their mistakes, and are very hard to contactThere are other houses in our neighborhood with the same problem, and no help from the builderIf you want a new house, don't choose Maronda to build it

I have been in a long over due construction process for a new home with Maronda HomesThe national average construction time for the type of we are building with them is monthsWe are quickly approaching a yearThe communication flow from between Maronda and my family is non existent and borderline dishonest and rudeWe have not been able to get a straight answer from this company from day Parts of the house at the beginning of the contract were agreed upon and the contract was signedOnce the construction process began Maronda alleged items were in fact not part of the house and we had to pay extra feesTo put a long story short, if they had been honest with us up front about the particulars of the house we would never have agreed to build with the company the original completion date of the house was October of The contract was signed March of We are very far from those dates and weather was not an issueThe issues are as follows: nobody is ever working on the

We signed a contract with Maronda homes to have a house built The house is low quality and has numerous issues The completion date was confirmed for 3/21/ The home is still not completed The closing date is set for 4/17/ There are so many issues with this house that we do not feel like we can move into it However, since Maronda homes set our closing we will have no place to live on 4/17/ This company has had terrible customer service beginning with the sales people all the way up through the vice president I have tried to get these issues resolved but there has been any acceptable response

My wife and I signed a contract in April of we were given a closing date of apr** November 24thWe were also referred to a Realtor to help us sell our existing homeWe were told we would be breaking ground in june or july as the permitting process would take about daysOn June 28th we received a phone call from the sales rep saying we needed to come in and sign a change order that we "never" signedNot thinking anything of it we went in and signed the paperWe also had been told we would be breaking ground the first week of JulyBy now we are living in an apartment because we sold our house in days and we are eager to get the new house done before the holidays as we were told by the sales repAfter signing the paper for a change order I realized that we had already signed it and sent it back in on 4/so I contacted the sales rep and he said he never got itI went back and reviewed my emails and found a email were the sales rep stated that he received the change order and all was goodNow we are days into the process and the builder still doesn't have the permitting process startedMy wife and I both kept in constant contact with the sales rep and we weren't informed that we were going to be delayed in the build until AugustThat's when we had our preconstruction meetingNow they said we wouldn't close until JanuaryRight after the fed raised prime and our rate ended up being 1/4% higher than we had expected it to beAfter the construction finally started in Sept things looked to be going well until we got to DecI had contacted Greg C** of Maronda to discuss the issues and delays and he set up a meeting with us on Dec 7thMaronda agreed to install flooring that I had purchased from an outside vendor for us as compensation for the two month delay we experiencedSo now things are going somewhat smoothlyWe didn't have any major issues during the build until it came to the finish aspects of the houseThe painters started painting the interior walls the wrong color, once they got the right color and began to paint again they did a horrible jobThey cut ins at the ceiling and around the door trim looks like it was done by a preschoolerThere is paint on the carpet in two rooms and still spots that I am finding that didn't get touched upThere is still exterior painting that is not complete and it is documented to be done when weather permitsI know its January but yesterday it was degreesAfter days in the house I noticed a plumbing leak in the basement showerWe had to use the basement shower because we didn't have the blinds installed yet for other baths and we had no shower door for master bathNow the real fun beginsWe selected a shower door when we made our color selections in MayThe door never arrived and I was told the day of closing that we didn't pay for itThe sales rep didn't include it in our contractI paid $for gas line in the kitchen for a gas rangeThe range I received is electricI was told that the sales rep sold me an electric range that the gas range was an additional $I do not even have the proper electric outlet in the kitchen for a electric rangeWe closed on the house with the appliances not installed at my request and did not find out about the stove being wrong until days laterNow I cant get anyone to do anything about the issueThe customer service with Maronda is horribleThe Head of the Cincinnati office Greg C** will flat out ignore you if you have a complaint or issueAs I type this Greg C** has just replied to an email I sent him yesterdayHe is blaming us for not buying the correct appliances

According to RCO Section - Weather Protection for Residential Roof AssembliesDrip edge is not mentioned in the roof assembly section of the Residential Code of OhioConsequently, drip edges are not requiredIt is stated that, "separate roofers state that my roof is not installed correctly"We would like to request that we get copies of all of these claims on the letter head for each company with the claim that we did not install the roof correctlyIt is our opinion that the shingles are defective and the installation is not the issueI quick google search will show that thousands of other companies and customers have arrived at this same conclusionWhat makes this frustrating for us is that we are not at liberty to discuss in detail what time, energy, money we have spent on this issue on behalf of not only us but our customers

I went to Maronda to have them build me a home I signed the contract in November and put a $deposit down The sales person told me that the house would take months to build Which would put the closing date in May But The sales person said that since we are going into winter that there might be weather delays so we agreed on a closing date of June 21, We had a meeting with the sales rep and the construction foreman a few months after signing the contract The job foreman says that there is no way he would have the house finished by June That upset the sales rep who then called me the next day and told me that construction is only delayed by days We had a warm winter so weather wasn't an issue They didn't start breaking ground until 3-months after we signed the contract Then when it came time to waterproof the foundation they didn't waterproof high enough on the foundation So had I not gone and checked it they would have just covered it up

I purchased my home in October Since moving in I have had continuous problems with my roof The problems were reported within the warranty period and at first Maronda was working with me For Four years they had been telling me they were working to get this corrected and would have do whatever it takes to correct the issue In April of I was informed by a Maronda representative (I can provide the name if required) that they believed the issue was a due to a defect in the shingles they purchased and I was asked to hire a contractor to remove shingles from my home and send them to the manufacturer, *** for warranty replacement I did this at an expense of about $ After months of waiting the shingle company sent a detailed letter explaining the issue was with installation and thus my year warranty was void I then reported the issue to Maronda but they have refused to respond to any of my communications since April My roof is now tarped and again in need of rep
