I had signed a contract with Masters to put a shingle roof with a 50 year warranty and gutters on my house and gave them a $1000 deposit. When I talked to my neighbor, he indicated that he thought part of my roof was not pitched enough for a shingle roof. I had another roofer come out, and he told me the same thing. So I tried to talk to Masters about it and they insisted that it was a 2/ 12 pitch and could be shingled. I tried to cancel the project and they threatened to sue me. So I called the other roofer and he insisted that the roof was only a 1.6/ 12 pitch and would void the shingle warranty. He advised me to download a pitch meter onto my phone, and I did so. My roof was a 1.6/ 12 pitch. I called GAF roofing manufacturer and they confirmed that they would not warrant the roof. I called Masters again, told them they were getting ready to put the wrong roof on my house. So they finally came out to check the pitch. The person who came out verified that I was correct and proceeded to sell my a self sticking rolled roof solution. I asked about the warranty and he said it was 25 years. I considered it and decided that I didn't want to have to put another roof on in 25 years or less. So, since they could not deliver the roof in the contract, I was able to cancel the contract and I did so. I also asked for my deposit back. I didn't hear anything from them until a check came for $500. I called them and asked where the rest of my deposit was. They said that they are keeping $500 because they had sent someone to my house to measure the roof. In my opinion, since they could not deliver the roof they promised and almost put a roof on that wasn't designed for my roof, I should get all of my money back.
To Whom It May Concern:Mr. *** did sign a contract with us. As according to the contract, we received a $1,000 deposit check as well as $5,490 from our third bank finance company. Everything could have been completed us according the contract, but Mr. changed his mind after the 3 day “Right to Rescission”. Since he tried to cancel after the rescission, we had already incurred numerous costs-admin fees, sending out our measure tech, and charging and then refunding the finance credit card deposit. Per our standard procedures, we usually keep the entire deposit, but generously gave him half of it back. Again, he did not cancel within the legal, 3-day rescission, and therefore we are not refunding him the remaining $500.Master's Home Solutions

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: they are not stating the truth about being able to fulfill the contract as written. They did not do their due diligence to ensure the roof had enough pitch to put on a shingle roof. In fact, I called GAF and consulted with them and they said that the shingle roof would not be covered by their warranty. And if I had not found out that my roof wasn't pitched enough, I would have a roof that would not be covered as they were going to install that roof. Once I was proved correct, they tried to sell me a roof that would only last half as long and cost me the same amount of money. It WAS NOT my responsibility to ensure they did their due diligence in ensuring they sold me the correct product. Therefore, I am due the refund because they could NOT fulfill the contract as written. Thank you

The sales person came to give me an estimate to redo my bathroom. In the process he said he was checking my credit score. I did not know he was applying for a loan it was supposed to be a credit check. I gave him my SS# and instead of a credit check he sent in an application for a loan. Since this happened my email has been hacked. Prior to this loan none of this information was ever on my email account.

*** did authorize us to run her credit. I do have a credit application, which she signed. We not only provided an estimate, she signed a contract for us to complete the work. She rescinded the contract within 3 business days and we did not proceed forward with any loan options. Our financial options are secure and it is impossible that her email would have been hacked due to anything concerning our company or our third party banking options.Since we did have her permission to run her credit and any email issues she is having or not from us, I do not have a resolution to recommend.
