MAYFAIR IMPORTS Reviews (22)

Review: During April 2013 I was looking to buy a car. I stopped by Mayfair Imports in Philadelphia to check out a car I liked. Since I wasn't sure whether to buy it or not, I placed a $500 deposit to hold the car for one week until I made up my mind. The following week I went back to Mayfair Imports and purchased the car for the exact price the Dealer asked. I purchased the car through a [redacted] check which I obtained as a car loan. Once I purchased the car, I was told I was going to be provided with a $500 check for the deposit I placed the week before. However, the dealer did not give me the check because they said "they needed to wait for the [redacted] check I gave them to clear" - which I believed to be unfair because that was not the reason why my $500 was originally kept for. I was told to go back to pick up the check the next day. When I went back the next day I was told the check wasn't ready- so the dealer asked for me to go back later that week; which I did, and the check was still not ready. This story repeated 4 times. So I decided to file a dispute through my credit card company ([redacted])- provided that the credit card bill was due and I had to pay the $500. [redacted] still hasn't received the money from Mayfair Imports because they claim that their bank "[redacted]" has already paid me the money. Which is not true because that would have shown on my bank statements. At that point, [redacted] stopped dealing with this issue because the issue is now between me, [redacted], and Mayfair Imports. So I asked [redacted], the accountant of Mayfair, to call [redacted] and provide proof about the funds and where they had gone. When on the phone with Mayfair Imports and [redacted], did not want me to be on the call because of financial confidentiality. Once I hanged up, I was expecting a call back from [redacted] with an explanation but she never called. I have tried to reach out to her more than 20 times since, but she is "never in her office". Please help. I have enough student loans I need to pay.Desired Settlement: I would like the $500 that was taken from me and kept for 7 months, and counting. I would also like $100 for my time spent to resolve the issue and the interest charged from the credit card company. Time spent to resolve the issue includes: 1) Driving to Mayfair Imports 4 times. No result. 2) Calling Mayfair constantly (over 20 calls). No result. Calling [redacted] Credit Card (over 2o times). Being on the phone with [redacted] (Mayfair Accountant)- 1 hour. No resolution.

To Whom It May Concern:

I spoke with the customer, [redacted], and with my financial institution several times when this situation was first brought to my attention.

[redacted] could not show that the $500.00 charge in question was returned to my account.

After receiving your letter, I spent 3 Vi hours in the branch and they finally were able to come up with the reversal of the funds.

I am sending a check in the amount of $500.00 back to the customer, [redacted], refunding his money in full along with a copy of this letter and an apology letter.

Please mark this matter amicably resolved.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. However, as of 11/5/2013 2:58PM, I still have not received the check the merchant is referring to. Until the check is received, I believe it is important to keep the case open.

Regards,

Review: I purchased a vehicle from them on August 2, 2014. They gave me a temporary tag and "supposedly" sent info. to PennDot for registration. I emailed and called them on 9/2/14 and told them that my temporary tag expired this day. I requested that they check on their paperwork to make sure they had submitted it correctly. I was told that it sometimes takes 90 days to receive permanent registration (I knew this to be false). On 9/4/14 I received a letter from PennDot. It had all of the orignal paperwork for the car (title, bill of sale) and a letter stating that they could not issue me a registration because paperwork had not been completed correctly (Reg. gross weight) was not completed AND they had failed to pay a portion of the sales tax/registration fee. I immediately emaile them a scanned copy of all of the paperwork and demanded immediate response and correction. I faxed a copy of the same information to ensure receipt. I have received no response.Desired Settlement: I expect fees to be paid and correct paperwork submitted ASAP so that I can get the registration for a truck I bought over a month ago

September 23rd, 2014Dear [redacted] of the Revdex.com,This letter is in regards to [redacted]'s complaint. We apologize for any inconvenience that this transaction may have caused, but you do have to understand that we work with the Department of Transportation /[redacted] and any/all process take time.[redacted] bought the vehicle above mentioned from us on 08/02/2014; the paperwork was submitted to the state on 08/13/2014. A clerical error was made and unfortunately we are human and do make mistakes. However the discrepancy on weight of the mentioned vehicle was an oversight.[redacted] informed us on 9/4/14 of the returned paperwork from [redacted]. We corrected and re-submitted on 09/08/14.Today we called Penndot and were informed that the work was processed and the registration was submitted to the customer. If you need any more information, please feel free to call us.Regards,JosieMayfair Imports
