An easy, pain free maintenance appointment with service by a knowledgeable and friendly technician.

Our technician was on time and efficient. He answered all of our questions and was very helpful. Great service!

I have had a maintenance contract with Meyer & Depew Co. for at least two years and have been pleased with their service technicians on all of their visits. Today, [redacted]. was the technician who serviced my heating system. He performed a thorough inspection and answered any questions that I had. I would recommend this company.

Excellent service. Very professional. Came on time. Work done cleanly and fully.

Very friendly service people, do a good job and always wear foot coverings.

Review: In September of 2011 I contracted with Meyer & Depew Heating Company install a [redacted] furnace. A decision which I have regretted since it was installed, however after our home was flooded during Hurricane Irene, they were the first company that we could get here to install a furnace. From the start, we have had nothing but service issues with this company. Their technicians appear to give their “best guess” instead of an actual diagnosis as to what is wrong with the equipment – but know exactly how much they are to collect from you for parts and labor. The first issue with our brand new furnace was during the one year service contract period, in whereby they came out to perform routine service. The technician came upstairs and informed us that the humidifier was never hooked up to a water supply; therefore it was actually never working. He then called the Service Manager to inform him that he would need to hook up the water supply, and then he promptly quoted us a price for this service. This service which was supposed to have been done when the equipment was initially installed, but wasn’t. After a prolonged argument and we produced a copy of our contract- they allowed the technician to hook up the water supply and not charge us. My complaint today is based on a recent issue with our 5 year old furnace, whereby the thermostat screen shuts down and the furnace would blow cold air. On February 1, 2016 at approximately 1413hrs I contacted and spoke to their receptionist and explained that our furnace is less than 5 years old and it’s not working. I explained that I have a contract that states our furnace is covered for 10 years for parts. She immediately told me that not all parts are covered, but after asking someone agreed that parts would be covered under that manufacturer’s warranty. I agreed to pay the required $137.00 service call charge to diagnose the problem. A technician from Meyer & Depew arrived at my house on 2/1/16 at approx 1500 hrs. and left at approximately 1730hrs. During his visit he asked me if I had changed the filters recently. I explained that I did and pulled the air filter to show him. He commented that the filter was pretty clean and should not be causing the issue. After investigating the problem for approximately 2 hours he explained that the heat regulator was shutting the system / thermostat power off in phase #2, which is the higher heat setting on my furnace. He further explained that he pulled the air filter and adjusted the humidifier and it is running ok without the filter. He recommended I replace the filter, after he told me 2 hours prior the filter was not the cause. He explained to my wife and me that after speaking with his service manager they have decided to replace the wiring board and motor wiring housing to “see if that was the problem.” He stated that it’s under warranty so why not replace them. He further explained that he had to order the parts and both his return visit and the parts would be covered under manufacturer’s warranty. He added that he would lock my furnace into Phase #1 (lower heat) to avoid the problem from reoccurring until he can install the new parts. Today, February 2, 2016 I followed up with a phone call to Meyer & Depew and spoke to the Service Manager John. I wanted to know when they were going to return to my house to repair my furnace. He explained that the parts weren’t even ordered yet and wanted to know if I had received a call from his company. I explained that his technician explained to me yesterday that he was ordering the parts and that he should have them by tomorrow or the next day. I explained that he also told my wife and me that his return visit and parts would be at no cost to us. John, indicated that this was not the case and that I would be responsible for a $320 service fee. I explained that it was unacceptable that a furnace that is under 5 years old and under warranty would cost me over $400 to replace parts that they are not sure will solve the problem. I have no guarantee, no confirmation of exactly what the issue is, yet I have already paid $137.00 and now they want another $320.00 – to do work that may or may not fix the issue. At this time, I want a refund of the $137.00 that I paid for a diagnosis of the issue. I have not gotten any statement from Meyer and Depew as to why this 5 year old furnace is not functioning properly.Desired Settlement: I want a refund of $137.00 paid to Meyer and Depew to diagnose the issue with our furnace- this was not done, they gave us a guess, and a price for them to come back to install some parts that may fix the issue.

Response:

According to our records we responded to the clients complaint immediately and offered to come back out and re diagnose the problem. The client declined and called another company. After further discussion, we offered to go out and replace the thermostat to an upgraded one. We will be returning on Monday, 2/29/16 to complete this call as per the clients request.

Response:

Today, On February 29, 2016 at approximately 0900 Owner of MEYER & DEPEW, Bobby R[redacted] and Service Manager John S[redacted] arrived at my home to inspect my [redacted] Furnace and install an [redacted] thermostat. Moments later an additional service tech arrived and assisted Mr. S[redacted] with his inspection and installation. During this time I met and spoke with Owner Bobby R[redacted] about my negative experiences with his company. Starting with their failure to install a water supply to the humitifier and his company’s attempt to charge me a year later. We discussed his techs causing my pipes to leak (on 2 different occasions), turning off our hot water, and most recently misinforming us on the cause of malfunction and cost associated with the replacement of parts and labor. During our conversation Mr. Ri** apologized for his companies short comings and wanted to make things right with me. He explained that he will work on training his staff to better serve their customers and offered the installation of the [redacted] thermostat (3 stage) free of charge. I explained that I appreciate the time and effort he has spent addressing my problems and based on his efforts that I would be providing this information to the Revdex.com and [redacted]. Please take a minute to update my recent complaint with the aforementioned information.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Very good service for AC and heat. If something is wrong, they come back until problem is resolved.

Meyer & Depew has always taken great care of our heating and air conditioning needs, often with the same technician servicing our HVAC unit. They follow up w/ me to remind me that it is time to schedule a check-up (included in our service plan), and I think it's great that someone who is familiar w/ the equipment is the one who comes to do the inspection. Our technician, [redacted], is professional, friendly, and takes good care of our house as well. I always notice that he puts the disposable foot covers on his boots to avoid tracking dirt into the house. He never forgets. Little things like that matter. We really appreciate the care and consideration, and that is a big part of what keeps us with Meyer and Depew.

We have used them a few times and have found them to very good at what the do and their staff has been very helpful. I plan to use them in the future.

Had a new Furnace/AC installed. [redacted] did the work and was very neat, efficient, information and answered all of my questions. Heating system is running great!! Very happy with the service and equipment.

[redacted] of Meyer & Depew was responsible for the installation of my new air handler. [redacted] was polite and professional. He and his partner [redacted] made sure that every inch of floor space was protected from the front door all the way up to the attic. Upon completion they cleaned the entire area and it was as if they had never been lugging tools and air conditioner parts through my house. [redacted] explained the new unit and demonstrated the filter change.
