I think our delivery person came out of a xxxxx, Virginia location We had purchased a new dishwasher from the xxxxx on xxxxx just north of xxxxx on Saturday afternoon and were given a Monday delivery/install My husband called xxxxx Monday, Jan19, to see if we could get an estimated time of arrival The woman with whom we spoke was belligerent and argumentative and only grudgingly gave a number to call Michael and Son as they were the folks responsible for the install My husband called the number and spoke with a very helpful, and apologetic lady who had no record of the purchase She promised to look into it and call back She did- within minutes She had tracked down the purchase and told us that someone would be able to get it delivered and installed by 4pm It was about 10:am at this point At 11am we receive a call from the installer At noon he was at our house By 1pm he was done Dishwasher installed, tested and he had hauled away the old washer The delivery person I can only say was of xxxxx heritage He was polite, efficient and took great care to not make or leave any mess behind Michael and Son was awesome Can't say the same for xxxxx
I called Michael & Son on Friday, 8/21/15, to schedule an appointment I explained that I had two faucets in the kitchen of our year old house that needed to be replaced with two Brizo (high end Delta) faucets that I had purchased Asked roughly how much it would cost The lady in the call center was nice, but said the technician/plumber would have to come out to give an estimate She said it was impossible to quote anything over the phone There was a $dispatch fee to which I agreed and they scheduled it for Monday, 8/24/On Monday they rescheduled me for Tuesday, 8/25/ When the guy arrived on Tuesday, he said it would be $to install the two He explained it's a flat rate $each to install a customer supplied faucet Really? $for about an hour of work? Every $100/hr = $200,per yearSo the labor is billed out at a rate of $1.2MM/year I could see maybe $each + dispatch but $602? There was absolutely no reason that the lady in the call center could not have told me that the charge for installing two customer supplied faucets would be at LEAST $and maybe more depending on what the technician/plumber found when he got here The plumber on the truck made it very clear that it was a flat rate per faucet and that we could not even use coupon if we had one because the parts were customer supplied (i.esince they couldn't gouge me on the price for parts, there were no discounts allowed on the $600/hr labor.) The company knows that they wouldn't get dispatched nearly as much if people knew the outrageous rates they are charging per hour for laborand coming out first to quote also puts the customer in the position of being "over the barrel"gives Michael & Sons more leverage to get you to agree to those high prices Obviously, I sent the plumber back with his $dispatch fee But they wasted days of my time, their time to come out, and my $fee They could have saved us all a LOT of time and frustration if they had just let me know that it was going to cost at least $which could easily have been done when I scheduled the appointment
First Michael and Son representative, Robert S [redacted] , came to install a new garbage disposal Very professional and informative However, after the installation was complete we discovered a bad switch and he was so helpful to immediately call for one of their electricians to come out immediately I was so grateful About minutes later the electrician, Jonathan C [redacted] , arrived He replaced the switch in addition to two additional switched on the same bank, checked the master electrical box, recommended and installed a surge protector for the entire house AND consulted with me about my broken overhead kitchen light Finally, he installed a new LED fixture (which is tremendous - brighter - no bulbs) and before leaving checked the outlets in the house near water supplies I am so happy to have found this amazing service organization and will certainly be utilizing them in the future

I was in a real pickleI awoke to my house being over 85* and on a Sunday too I was really afraid to call for repairs, but seeing as I am a disabled Vet with COPD and other problems including congestive heart failure and on dialysis, I needed A/C So I called, the receptionist was very understanding and soon the tech called me from SC and said he would be there as soon as possibleOnce he arrived he thoroughly checked out the year old unit and gave me optionsI picked the new unit with the warranty and he helped me set up a payment plan that I could afford on SSI Disability The whole experience was made less stressful by the courtesy and professionalism of everyone I dealt with Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
