Michael Hohl Honda Subaru Reviews (26)

In April 2013 I took my fully-paid-for 2007 Honda Civic to the Michael Hohl Honda dealership in Carson City, NV to trade it in for a safer car. The design of the side mirrors attached to the car created a blind spot for me and I didn't feel safe driving it after one accident and three other near-accidents since I had purchased the car in 10/07. I had purchased the car from Michael Hohl Honda and, in good faith, felt they would help me with my dilemma. The salesperson I dealt with "traded" my 2007 Honda Civic 2-dr, which had 45,100 miles and a [redacted] low value of $8,325 (suggested retail $11,250) for a 2005 Hyundai Sonata 4-dr SDN LX V6, which had 93,316 miles and a [redacted] low value of $4,500 (suggested retail $7,800). Both cars were in very good condition. I had told the salesman I might want to trade down a little to get some cash back. The salesman "sold" me the Hyundai for a total of $10,256 after adding all kinds of charges to his "vehicle selling price" of $8,888. He gave me a gross trade-in allowance of $7,500 for my Honda. I was given a check for $5,200, which was his answer to my request for some cash back, but somehow I ended up having to finance $7,395 for the Hyundai. Of course I applied the $5,200 toward it, but the rest had to come out of my pocket. I am a 62 y.o. retired woman on my own, and it created a real financial hardship for me to pay off the loan. On 8/28/13 I was explaining the transaction to a male friend of mine and he felt very strongly that I had been taken advantage of. Together we went to the Michael Hohl dealership and [redacted], Sales Manager, agreed to find me a different trade-in of comparable value to my Honda and that would get better gas mileage than the Hyundai. He said it would be a straight across-the-board trade; just exchanging keys. I have called [redacted] several times and he has assured me that he's waiting for a comparable car, but business has been slow. The General Manager has not returned my calls.I have all of the paperwork.Desired SettlementI would like Michael Hohl Honda to provide me with a car of comparable value, as a trade-in for my 2007 Honda Civic, as they have promised to do.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted],CR ManagerContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]We have been on the lookout for a suitable vehicle that fits [redacted]'s needs and wants (better gas mileage and comparable value with good visibility). Do to the slowing of business and fewer quality trade-ins in the proper price range, we have not found the appropriate vehicle yet, but we are actively working on finding [redacted] a replacement. As soon as we find one, we would be thrilled to have her come in and "trade" keys. We believe that our customer's satisfaction is vital and that is what has kept us in business for over 30 years.

On August 8, 2014 I took my Forester into Michael Hohl Subaru for the Forester's 30K mile service and received an estimate of $483.25. After two subsequent phone calls indicating my Forester needed additional services, my final bill was $964.14. A local company that has serviced hundreds of Foresters and an international company that has serviced thousands of Foresters should know what a Forester will require at 30K miles. Either this error in the estimate of approximately 100% indicates incompetence or a service scam.Subsequently, I received an automated customer service phone call, during which I indicated I was not satisfied. I then received a live follow-up call from a customer service rep, who then passed my issue to a manager. This manager called me at my office during working hours. When I told him I was working, he said he'd call back at 4:30. That was the last I've heard from them.Product_Or_Service: 30,000 mile vehicle serviceOrder_Number: [redacted]Desired SettlementMichael Hohl Subaru needs to make accurate estimates.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] Service DirectoContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]After revewing the complaint with my service advisor it was determined that [redacted] was given an estimate of 483.25 for his 30k service. While performing this service it was suggested by our factory trained technician that the transmission fluid and power steering fluid be exchanged due to being dirty. [redacted] was called and given prices for these additional services which he authorized us to perform, this addtional work brought his total to 964.14 which he paid for and again was explained what was performed. We do appologize for not getting back in touch with [redacted] after our first attempt. If there anything else we need to do please let me know directlyConsumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Michael Hohl merely summarized what I stated in my complaint description. There was no explanation as to why they failed to make an accurate estimate of cost or the services needed. They've undoubtedly serviced hundreds of Foresters locally and orders of magnitude more worldwide. They should know with a certain degree of accuracy what a Forester will need at the 30K service interval.Final Business Response let me try explaining what happened a little better. the Statndard 30k svc is what was quoted and performed, during our inpsection which is part of the 30 k we noticed the tranmission and power steering fluid to be dirty, this is NOT part of a 30k service but an additional service just like if the brakes were required to be replaced or anything else not included in a normal 30k svc, it seems the confusiion is that the customer assumed the additional work needed was included in the service which it is NOT, we will be sending you copies of the signed repair order with documentaion of the phone call and also a signed invoice upon pick up agreeing to the addtiional services performed. I hope this clarifies a little better what happened.

I purchased a car at this dealer on 01/04/16.I also purchased a [redacted] environmental coating to protect the paint for an additional $695.00. I was told to make an appointment to bring the car in to have this applied to the car. When my wife called to make an appointment they told her it was already applied to the car. I feel I was completely scammed out of $695. Either they don't want to provide the promised product now that the sale is concluded or I paid an extra $695 for something that already came with the car. I purchased this product with another car and had to take it in to have it applied. I would like a full refund for the product/service that was not provided. This dealer has no integrity and I do not trust them to deliver on any promised service. I believe they did is fraud.Product_Or_Service: [redacted]Desired SettlementFull Refund in the amount of 695.00.Business Response I recently started talking with [redacted] about this. When we bought the vehicle from him we used the payoff that he provided on his car as the amount owed to the bank. We sent in that amount. It was actualy not enough money. This amount needed to be accounted for, before title would be issued. This was eventually paid by the [redacted]. This accounted for a great deal of the time between us buying the car and the bank being satisfied. The bank is now paid in full and the title is being processed. I talked to [redacted] yesterday and expalined to him that California is a "paperless" state. Becuase of this, a title needs to be created. I informed [redacted] that his title needs to be in our posession before we can issue him a check. I also informed him that his check is cut and ready for him as soon as the title lands. I understand his frustration in taking so long. However the title is the most important part of the deal. We are expecting the title within days. Final Business Response To whom it may concern, For clarification purposes, my name is [redacted], and I am the General Sales Manager at Michael Hohl Subaru in Carson City. In response to the referenced case I feel that I have created a remedy for the customer's complaint, and have upheld Michael Hohl's steadfast commitment to stellar customer service. Because [redacted] was initially unhappy with our charge of $629 for [redacted] paint and fabric protection treatment and accompanying warranty, I initially offered him a full refund; however, [redacted] did in fact wish to have his vehicle chemically treated with the [redacted] products to protect his new vehicle. As a good faith gesture we did in fact refund [redacted] $300 of his $629 charge. Furthermore, although we refunded a portion of the charge, we applied all the applicable chemical treatments, and kept the associated warranty for the product fully valid. In addition we also gave [redacted] a brand new set of Subaru genuine all weather mats free of charge to add a finishing touch to his total protection package. Upon our follow-up with [redacted], he communicated to us that he was grateful for our service and satisfied with the final results concerning his initial complaint.

Firstly, My Honda Accord had a recall for airbags, I called and ordered the air bags and they said it would take a month to arrive , I called every month for 3 months. On the 3rd month of me calling the Honda service department and talking to [redacted] they arrived. Honda did not notify me. Then I had to wait a month for an appointment. My car was in the shop for 4 days, I had to get rides to and from Honda, and I live in [redacted].My issue begins when I drove from the Shop to south lake and when I arrive my car completely turns off. Won't start, the windows won't roll up. I called [redacted] to ask some questions on what it might be so I had a better idea of how to handle it. He was not much help. I said I would call him back if it wasn't a jump or a new battery. I went across the street to [redacted] to buy a new battery. It wasn't that. I tried calling Timothy back that day 3 times to see what I should do. I left voicemails. No reply. All of your service staff said "he was there. Talking to different customers and he would call me back" I had to leave my car with garbage bags in the windows over night at the gym because I had to work. I checked on my car on the way home it was safe, still. The next morning I called Timothy again. He was working that day. No reply. I had to pay 100$ to get my car towed to another shop in [redacted] find another ride to work ... [redacted] at [redacted] automotive said that when your employee spliced the wire and tried to crimp it back together after my door locks were supposed to be fixed they missed the wire so any bump in the road would knock it off and I would loose power. And it happened. I understand that accidents happen but you would think if my car was in the shop for 4 days or if you had a new employee in training, things would be double checked or test driven.Product_Or_Service: Door locksOrder_Number: [redacted]Desired SettlementI paid $390.65 to your company at Honda.I paid 100$ for a tow I paid Charlie at strueve automotive 194$ to redue their work Plus my airbag light is still on to this day.The lack of service I received after I had all these issues makes me think that [redacted] had my money and didn't want to deal with me. I called him several times for over two weeks and left voicemails and it wasn't until I was so upset and frustrated that Steve Dix. I want all of my money back.684.25$Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]/Svc DirContact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]To whom it may concern,After reviewing the repairs completed at Michael Hohl Honda, and calling [redacted] at [redacted] Automotive. It seems in fact a wire that was attached did not make complete contact with the said wiring harness which in turn caused the vehicle issues. I would like to reimburse [redacted] for the $100 tow and $194 repair at [redacted], providing copies of both invoices.Thank You,[redacted]Service DirectorMichael Hohl Honda

Purchased a 2015 [redacted] Fit as a new car with 12 miles on it. Upon inspection of car during delivery process, a dent was noted on the left front door and a scratch on the rear bumper. Both were added to the due bill. This was almost 2 weeks ago, I have called 4 times about the issue to get it resolved and have not gotten one promised phone call back. The manager stated to me that the estimate of repair I provided was too expensive and he would send someone out to look at it. I further stated that they did not make enough profit on the deal to do the repair.Product_Or_Service: 2015 [redacted] FitDesired SettlementI just want the car fixed correctly and be made whole for the new car that I purchased.Final Consumer Response

On Sunday 7/31/16 my boyfriend and I were looking to purchase a car and made it very clear when we arrived that we were seeking a better car with a cheaper payment, we had no money to put down, and he had planned on cosigning the loan. After a few hours of multiple salesmen going back and forth with the banks, we settled on 7% interest, no money down, and a $340 a month payment, which we signed a contract for. We had called the dealership repeatedly the next week to see which bank had financed us, since the contract we signed had no bank named. They called us back on Thursday 8/4/16 to tell us there was no bank and we needed to come in that day to sign a new contract, otherwise law enforcement would be notified. We arrived that afternoon and spoke to[redacted] in finance who had told us we had 2 options: pay $1000 down with only my boyfriend on the loan or pay $2000 to get my old car back.[redacted] began to become abrasive and make things very uncomfortable when we told him that is not what we agreed on, and he told us the other contract was voided, per him, but could not tell us why. He led us to believe there was no way out and legal action would be taken against us. He also told us I had already signed my car over to them, even though I had explained to him I never signed a paper in regards to my car being transferred into their possession. He took out a document I did sign that had the odometer readings, and he said that was the form to sign my car over to them. I later signed another paper that did sign my car over to them, in belief I had already signed other documents doing this. He proceeded to make a copy of David's (my boyfriend) debit card (front and back) when we told them we would need the full 21 days to come up with the down payment and later refused to shred the paper after we paid the down payment in cash. They also said we could not put the negative equity from my car on a loan without my name, but they somehow were able to transfer the negative equity onto to David's new loan.Product_Or_Service: Honda CivicDesired SettlementI would like an explanation into the laws. They had told us it was illegal to put the negative equity from my loan onto a new loan without my name, and yet they were able to. They also lied about the contracts and coerced us into signing new contracts under false allegations and false information.Business Response Having looked over the complaint, I feel it best to handle with the customer in person. Regarding the trade, some banks will not accept a third party trade depending on the situation. Negative equity can be an issue. There are claims in this statement that the customer is making, that [redacted] is disputing. One is that we were forcing her to pay $2000.00 to get her car back. That did not happen. We do not force customers to take new terms on a contract that they do not agree with. A customer is never froced to sign a new contract under new terms.
