Middlesex Management Reviews (57)

The tenant has lived with us sinceMay of 2013 and the signs have always been posted.  We acknowledged thatat the time your car was towed on September 27, 2014 the signs had been removedhowever the mount for the sign was still on the building and have since beenreplaced.  However you lived with the management company for over a yearat this point and whether signs where taken down and in the process of beingreplaced you would have been well aware of the parking restrictions. Management denies the request to refund the towing expenses.

Review: I was tenant of the Middlesex management property at 202 FOREST DRIVE at EDISON VILLAGE apartments, EDISON, NJ, 08817 from Sep 2015 to Aug 2016. I moved to 907 Blueberry CT in Blueberry village, Edison, NJ, 08817.
On Oct 5th 2016, I received the Final settlement statement which shows $770 deduction from my security deposit under the item: Damages. There are no damages on the apartment and I have cleaned the apartment before I moved out. And if I sum up the damages mentioned by Middlesex management it comes +20 or -20 of $200 but total mentioned in damage sheet is $770.They mentioned something in additional comments .And they reduced $845.53 not sure why.
I left with no damage and I cleaned the apartment before moving out.
Reducing $845.53 is really frustrating and it’s nearly a more than half a month rent.
I called Middlesex mgmt customer service few times and informed that there was no damage and could be total calculation mistake .But they wanted me to raise the dispute.
I am fed up following on this refund amount still living in another apartment 907 Blueberry CT in Blueberry village ,Edison,nj,08817 . I am afraid the same thing will happen reducing the security deposit under item damages to me again for the current apartment 907 Blueberry CT when I vacate.
Desired Settlement: I expect to receive my full security deposit. And so please refund the reduced amount $865.53.

Review: I was the tenant of the following unit: [redacted]., [redacted]s) from Oct. 2012 to Nov. 30th 2014. On 12/30/2014, I received the move-out statement which shows $150 deduction from my security deposit under the item: Damages. There are no damages on the apartment and I have cleaned the apartment before I moved out. Some claimed items should belong to normal wear and tear considering 2 years of tenancy.

On 1/23/2015 I sent a certified mail to middlesex management office (Attn: Damage Disputes, [redacted], NJ 07095) which was delivered on 01/26/2015. Since then, I haven't received any response.Desired Settlement: I expect to receive deducted portion ($150) of my security deposit.

WE REC'D TENANTS LETTER DATED 1/23/2015 AND MAILED A RELEASE TO TENANT AT [redacted], CA 95054. WE HAVE CHECKED TENANT'S FILE AND ARE EMAILING TENANT ANOTHER RELEASE FOR $80.00.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I received the release form by email from the business after filing the complaint. Thanks for the prompt response by the business. However, only partial amount ($80) is mentioned. The total deduction under "Damages" is $150. Since those deductions are not well justified, I would expect to receive the full amount ($150).

Review: My wife and I moved out of our apartment in October 2015 due to relocation for work. We were advised that we were responsible for all rent through the term of our lease - which ran through 10/16 - unless another tenant took residence of our apartment. Thankfully, my company provided relocation assistance with rent payments / lease cancellation.

We were advised in late November that a tenant was going to be signing a lease in the coming days, and we would no longer be responsible for the rent. I followed up with the Middlesex Management (MM) in early December to ensure that we had ended our obligation as tenants. I was informed at that time that the tenant did not take residency, and that we were still responsible for rent. I continued to follow up over the coming weeks and was told in mid-December that someone (the original tenants) would be assuming residency of the apartment over the weekend of 12/20-12/21. I followed up during the following week and was told by the leasing office that a tenant had moved in. I followed up with the main office of MM also, who advised me that they had no record of a tenant moving in. This misinformation and lack of communication continued through December and into early January.

In early January, it was confirmed to me by MM that a tenant had moved in and that my security deposit and overpayment for December rent (potentially over $2k), would be paid to me by 1/31/16. I followed up with MM on 1/29 to seek update on status of payment, and was notified that the address the company had on file was incorrect and the check was returned. I was advised that I had to send in a paper form with a correct address and a copy of my drivers license, which I did that day. I followed up on 2/12 to seek update on status of payment, and was told that there had been no activity on my account.Desired Settlement: Throughout this process, representatives associated with this company have sought to pass blame from one department to another. I have made multiple failed attempts to correct information on file (incorrect phone number, incorrect current address) with no resolution. My requests have been met with disdain and disinterest in finding a resolution. The company has failed in its obligation to reimburse me for my security deposit and overpayment for DEC rent, and despite my meeting all obligations required of me, the company has made no effort to do the same. All representatives at all levels of the company that I have interacted with have provided inconsistent and incorrect information, and have not aided me in finding a resolution.

I demand that I am paid the security deposit that I am owed. If any deductions have been made, an itemization of those deductions, and complete reimbursement of pro-rated DEC rent in an expeditious manner.

Response:

New tenant moved in on December 19, 2015. Mr. [redacted] was credited back 13 days rent for December 2015, the full month of January and his full security deposit minus $195 for damage charges. Because the address we received on the notice to vacate form that the tenant submitted did not include the apartment #, the checks were returned to us on 2/1. Once contacted by the tenant on 2/11, the check was immediately mailed back out to him the same day with the corrected address. The refund was for the tenant’s security deposit and the overpayment of 13 days of December rent.

Review: I paid 100 dollar 20ish of Sep as deposit to Yorkshire Meadow apartment managed by Middlesex management for applying for an apartment - but end up canceling the application and not moving in at all. It was clearly indicated on the application form at the time of my application that 100 dollar is refundable so I expect to get a check of 100 dollar back because of the fact I didn't move in. The lady who processed my application, is extremely helpful and facilitative and my cancellation submitted quite timely. I also told the lady processing my application at the time of my cancellation of application, my new address (which is different from the one I lived at the time of my application) and she passed on this information to Middlesex management. After 1 months, I have received a voicemail on my cellphone that a lady claimed [redacted] told me she has sent a check to my old address and see if I have received and give her a call back. I called her back almost 10 times after and leave her multiple voicemails (also her managers) and didn't get any further feedback. So far it has been 10 days since she called back.Desired Settlement: Middlesex management send me 100 dollar refund check to my new address

Review: I have rented [redacted] Blvd in 2002 and have lived here for past 12 Years.

During the time I had to paint the rooms myself as the Middlesex Managment was not willing to keep it tidy.

I have fixed the floorboards and cleaned the bathrooms and replaced all the light bulbs with Modern CFLs and left them where they are, when I vacated at the end of November, 2013. I have faced major issues with the maintenance, throughout my stay for 12 years and finally I have to give up on this mafia like management, which is ripping me off with rent, but not providing any amenities. I cleaned up all the utilities and rooms and left it clean. I have returned the keys on a Monday as the emptying was done on a Saturday and no office was open on Saturday/Sunday 30 Nov, due to Holiday.

I have been illegally charged these amounts - 2 Days Additional Rent for December $107.60

Illegal damages for a 30 Year old Bathroom Sink whose enamel(Yes it was enamel on a cast Iron base) has chipped in a couple of places - $30 ( This Sink would not fetch a penny if sold)

Grill Not clean - $ 100 - This is how they steal your money folks. Total rip-off management.

Please do not promote any properties managed by Middlesex Management. This is my appeal.Desired Settlement: Pay the illegal deduction immediately

We are willing to refund the $160.00 we charged for damages however, If the tenant went to [redacted] Forest [redacted] Blvd rental office there are notices posted advising tenants that location closed 4 years ago and to please follow the directions to visit our new office located at [redacted] that office was open on the weekend in question therefore we are not willing to refund this tenant for the 2 days December rent. We will create and send a release for $160.00. as soon as we receive it back from the tenant we will forward the check.

Thank You,

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

I have gone to the Supervisor on premises and tried to hand over the Keys. He refused to take the keys and asked me to go to the rental office. If it is closed, he asked me to return on Monday and hand off the keys at the rental office.

The new office you have mentioned in question is closed as it was evening, by the time we went to the office to hand over the keys on Saturday.

Please consider this factor.

Business

Response:

Our super was correct in refusing to accept keys from any of our tenants after hours. Unfortunately, if the tenant went to the office after hours we don't feel that it is our fault since the hours of operation are posted at the location.

Review: Hi, my name is [redacted] G. [redacted]y I resign at 8[redacted]. On September 27, 2014 @ 8:15am my car was towed from the back of my garage by D+G Towing located at 48 [redacted]. Contact number ###-###-####. When speaking with D+G Towing they claim that Middlesex Management gave them authorization to tow cars from residence's driveway where signs are posted in certain areas. However, Middlesex Management does not have any signs posted where I live. I have photos stating that there are no signs stating that there is no parking in the driveway. D+G Towing stated that I have to take this issue up with Middlesex Management. When contacting Middlesex Management regarding this issue they stated that I needed to speak with a manager name [redacted]. I have made 3 attempts to contact Mr. [redacted] with no avil. On October 15, 2014 I tried contacting Mr. [redacted] for the final time just to get his receptionist [redacted] who let me speak with [redacted] who is her manager. While speaking with [redacted] the phone hung up. I called right back only to get [redacted] again who inform me that [redacted] was now not available. [redacted] stated that she would take my message and forward it to [redacted] the same manager that I have been trying to get in contact with for the pass 3 weeks now. I feel like this office is playing games with me.. I would like to get this issue resolve once and for all.Desired Settlement: I do not care how Middlesex Management refund my $125.00 but I want my refund back ASAP.

TENANT HAS LIVED IN APARTMENT FOR OVER ONE YEAR. TENANT IS AWARE THAT THERE IS NO PARKING IN DRIVEWAYS. ALL BUILDINGS HAVE SIGNS POSTED. THIS BUILDING'S SIGN WAS MISSING BUT MOUNT IS STILL ATTACHED TO THE BUILDING.

Consumer

Response:

The reason I am rejecting the business response is in there 1st response to my complaint they said that signs are posted on all buildings. The pictures that I sent are in direct contradiction of that. I sent pictures that showed other building other than mine with no signs. The most recent pictures that you received shows the maintenance man posting signs up on October 30, 2014.

I received all your pictures what I would need now would be a explanation on why you are rejecting the business response, and reference what the pictures are.

Review: they refund my deposit and they keep 190.00 dollars .they stole my money when I rented the apartment the carpet was dirty I stayed there for 2 years and I made sure the carpet was clean and perfect better than when they gave me the apartment .I pay and hire people to make sure everything was clean. it is not right that this company are stealing people money.I have video of how I left the apartment in perfect condition .I left the apartment in better condition than when I first moved there.Desired Settlement: I want my money back

Regards,

I rented an apartment at Delaware Heights in Ewing which is managed by Middlesex Management (or should I say mismanagement). Everything the other reviewer states is true, but I MUST add this. I was told by the leasing agent Leah [redacted] that I had a choice or refurbished or not. Since it was an older complex, I chose refurbished for $75 additional a month. I moved from another state and Leah told me it would be ready in 3 weeks. I lived in a hotel for 3 weeks costing me $1500. I got the keys and went in. My movers were not coming for another 2 weeks. Not only was the apartment NOT repeat NOT renovated as promised with new kitchen and bath cabinets and pot lights, but it had never been cleaned or painted, which I heard is state law. There was a half inch of gray dirt on the bath floor coming from the overhead fan and under that was filthy grout and mold around the tub. In the kitchen were the original cabinets, a gas stove that is continually hot when turned off ( there was a gas leak in the building on Easter Sunday and they were pounding on doors) live and dead flies, moths, and roaches. Inside the cabinets was a LOT of dead bugs and food particles. In the kitchen sink you could see the white plastic pipe was not the correct diameter because you could see the edges and the dishwasher left water on the floor. A door [redacted] wasn't even attached so when you grabbed it, it was now in your hand. Bathtub stopper didn't work. Took multiple calls and 6 months for them to "fix" it The fridge had rusted shelves. The ac units had BLACK MOLD. I took pictures of it all. When I told the maintenance manager that when water splashed on the bathroom floor that a lot of dirt came up. He told me to my face that did not happen and that it is my job to clean it. I threw him out. I called and left a message at the leasing office, who still uses an answering machine, questioning if I was put in the wrong apartment. I never received a reply. Countless calls and emails. They said they were coming to visit and didn't. Weeks later I went to the leasing office to take photos of the kitchen I was supposed to have and Leah said to me "You are right! Your apartment was never refurbished" at which point I went off on her. No kidding really? I know! I have eyes and can tell a 70's kitchen from 2015. Did she bother to communicate with Middlesex Management? I started paying the correct rent for a non refurbished unit. HERE IS THE GOOD PART...THEY TOOK ME TO COURT TWICE FOR THE HIGHER RENT!!! I sent photos to their attorney. I WON. They were supposed to provide me with a corrected lease. Never did. The following months my statement still showed the incorrect rent. I called the state inspector who must be 'friends" because he was nasty and acted like he was being inconvenienced and wrote me up for 'unsanitary conditions'. No one at MM or the state returned my calls months ago for specifics. I say I was given payback. My next step is to sue them for the $1500 I spent on a hotel waiting for them to refurbish this unit. I was planning of living here until I retire in 3 years. instead I need to pay to move.

Review: I am tenant at one of the middlesex management property at [redacted] at [redacted] apartments for last 2 years. This people and their maintenance service sucks. They are humiliating and creating unnecessary mental stress to us as a tenant and I am writing this because most apartment tenants out here in this community will agree with me. I have complaint against various issues, related to their apartment structure too old and very hazardous to live, heat system is very very old types not at all favorable for living, unclean neighbor hood, etc. If any maintenance issue, it is worst out here. The service is never handled on time no matter whatever the emergency exist. Also the service once completed gets chaotic again in a day or 2 days period. So have to call again and keep doing it again & again. I want you guys to take some good action against this maintenance people and management for harassing us and taking money from us for sick apartments with sick maintenance services.Desired Settlement: refund back my rent money for last 6 months and security deposit money too in full.

Response:

We had a super who was not performing his tasks and not notifying us about thedeficiencies in his work orders . This super no longer works for the company. The tenant moved in on 9/1/13 and his dishwasherwas replaced with a brand new unit on 8/14/14. The HVAC system (heating system) has been inspected and is in goodworking order .All the issues and all defects werecorrected in a timely manner.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: Dishwasher is still not fixed properly, as the soap dispenser does not dissolve the soap properly and keeps all utensils as is. Also the heating system in the unit was never changed neither fixed. It still has the problem with providing adequate heat during winter time. The insulation of the apartment is also not at all livable condition.

If they can fix it properly, I can accept it as resolve issue, till then the service is not done. No offence, but just wanted to get worth of what we are paying.

YOUR FILE HAS BEEN REVIEWED SEVERAL TIMES BY UPPER MANAGEMENT. WE HAVE PERFORMED NECESSARY MAINTENANCE REPAIRS WITHIN A TIMELY FASHION. DISHWASHER HAS BEEN REPLACED AND HEATING HAS BEEN REPAIRED TO STANDARDS. MANAGEMENT FEELS ANYTHING WE DO, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BE HAPPY, THEREFORE MANAGEMENT HAS MADE THE DECISION TO ALLOW YOU TO BREAK YOUR LEASE WITHOUT ANY PENALTIES. HOWEVER YOU MUST VACATE THE UNIT AND RETURN THE KEYS TO THE RENTAL OFFICE BY AUGUST 30, 2015.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

I do not want to break my lease as of now. If I need I will let Management know. I am not satisfied with the reply I got from management. It is not at all complete true statement they have made about their services. I have even answered the return calls, when the maintenance service request has been successfully completed. But very rare the services has been successfully completed.

Review: We moved into a Middlesex Management property on June 1st. There were multiple issues with the appartment inspite of having signed the lease long in advance. The washer has not worked since the day we moved in and I have called them almost everyday patiently waiting for the washer to be fixed. It has been 10 days since we moved in today and nobody has come to fix it. I finally got a call on Saturday June 7the stating that someone will come in Monday June 9th but no one showed up. I keep calling the maintainance line but they dont let me speak to a supervisor or anyone useful apart from the the telephone operators and when I call the emergency like the super says that it is not an emergency and asks me to call the call center. I keep having to go in circles inspite of paying full rent !Desired Settlement: Repair the washer asap and provide the ability to speak to someone that can actually give some answers.

Review: I rent at Cloverleaf Gardens, an apartment complex managed by Middlesex Management. I also receive a rental subsidy from SHC now managed by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency. In August I received a packet from SHC requesting information, some to be filled by me and some to be filled out by my landlord. Despite multiple requests by me, Middlesex Management refuses to file the paperwork required for the rental subsidy. I've been told that "It's up in the air" and "It's under review" but the matter has not been resolved for three months. The SHC is unable to process my lease and send the correct payments without receiving the paperwork they require.Desired Settlement: Middlesex Management cooperates with SHC and provides the required paperwork.

Response:

THIS TENANT RECEIVES RENTAL ASSISTANCE FROM SUPPORTATIVE HOUSING CONNECTION. HIS CONTRACT IS UNDER ATTORNEY REVIEW.

Middlesex Management is an extremely unprofessional business. There is absolutely no way of speaking to anyone able to respond to inquiries or resolve problems. Upon seeking assistance, all that is offered are lists of numerous names and phone numbers to call- of people who are never available and never return calls. Additionally, the individuals at the clerical level whom are the only ones ever available, are rude and dismissive. I made various attempts to contact the individuals whose names and numbers I was given, to no avail as they even went as far as to pick up the phone and hang it up continuously without speaking. I was then given a number for a fax machine, to deter my calling back. Needless to say, I am still awaiting a call back from "Jeremy [redacted]", who may or may not even be an employee there. Not to mention, that I went personally to the office located at 90 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, NJ 07095, to only be directed to a phone at the corner of the office to speak with people whom are located at that location, but whom cannot be bothered to meet face-to-face. This individual on the office phone, was unable to answer my question not resolve my issue, but did offer another name and number for me to call??! THIS IS A SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS!
