Review: We bought a car on May 3, 2014, a [redacted]. We were charged $395 processing fee. The dealer informed us they would take care of all the title and registration at the [redacted] and the dealer would mail all the paperwork to us. They gave us 30 day tags and told us we would get the new registration in the mail. They also were suppose to pay off the trade-in vehicle before May 16, 2014. They cashed my step-father's check on May 5, 2014 for the car and never paid off the trade - in. On May 19, payment for the trade-in was taken out of my mother's account because they had not paid it off. We had to contact them concerning the bank payment which was when we found out about this matter and the fact that they hadn't done anything with the registration. Now they are telling us that they are not going to [redacted] and we have to go ourselves, when they have been sitting on all the paperwork for 3 weeks. All this verbal information was witnessed by myself, my mother and my step-fatherDesired Settlement: Refund check of $395 for the processing fee since they did not register the vehicle as promised.

Revdex.com spoke with [redacted] for the business and he stated that the $395 is a processing fee that does not include tax and tags. The company would need the tax and tags money in order to register the vehicle.

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I spoke with other dealers and the $395 is the processing fee for the people to go to the [redacted] and do the paperwork for you. They also stated they would go to [redacted] and do all the paperwork for the registration and we would get it in the mail and just be able to put our old plates on the vehicle. Since they did not do this, we would like to have the $395 back since we in turn had to go to [redacted] ourselves.

Response:
Revdex.com spoke with [redacted] from the business and he stated that the processing fee doesn't have tie in with the payment for tax and tags. The processing fee is a fee for the business doing paperwork for getting the car purchased by the consumer. When a consumer submits payment for the tax and tags, the company then sends that payment to [redacted] free of charge.

They got our money and lied to us about the license. They told us they would take care of the registration and we would get the new one in the mail so all we would have to do is put the plates on the new car. Now they are going back on their word and saying they never told us that. They are liars and a poor business establishment. We still want our $395 back.
