This MID commits acts outside the laws, their rules, and what is fair daily. There are many that do not file complaints or understand what they can do. More than likely because there is nothing that will stop companies like them from abusing the public. They wield power that effects the lives of public and have no mercy when wielding that power and authority. They should be closely governed.

Review: I recently moved from ** to **. I called MID (Modesto Irrigation District) to transfer services out of my name. I later received another bill from MID and was told this would be the last bill. Finally I received a bill for service so I called once more. While on the phone I was told there were no records of the previous calls and that I'm responsible for the current bill. I have two complaints for this business. First they are extremely hard to get on the phone. I was on hold for 20 minutes and then just disconnected for no reason. Called back and was told to enter my info and they would call me back (Never happened). Second complaint is the lack of history of my previous calls that created the current issue. If this type of business relies on such call recording then it should be %100 percent accurate. Why should I or others have to pay for the faults of a bad phone system? My complaint isn't for a individual except if they didn't do there job and press the record button or whatever it is that documents the process. I've never filed a report with the Revdex.com before in the past and I hope this isn't just overlooked. Thank you for you time.Desired Settlement: I would like the bill that was given to me redirected to the current residents (Who have lived there during this time of the bill). I would also like to see in writing that they will investigate the phone system issues. The issues are: Poor phone system to the point you can't contact them in a timely manner, and the phone system that they rely upon so much doesn't seem to function as designed or required.

Review: In Modesto we do not get an option of who we have for our electricity and because of this MID thinks they can treat customers like crap and steal their money. My thief happen a week ago. MID double charge my card through their website for paying bills. When I went to process my transaction their website gave me a 404 error. I reloaded the page and was told my transaction had gone through. Come to find out a week later that it had gone through twice. Causing 130 dollars in other transaction to bounce causing a 180 in fees. When I called MID to ask to fix this problem they told me they can't and to contact my bank over the issue. Luckily, [redacted] is an excellent customer service provider and is trying to solve the issue unlike MID who steals money and treats customers like dirt.Desired Settlement: I would like MID to fix the charge payment and my NFS funds reversed. [redacted] is working on this but I want to make sure it is happening.

Review: We moved into a house my mother in law occupied and she moved back to her house. The bill was in her name but we have power of attorney but realized the bill was going to her new place and we wouldn't get it. So we decided to change it from her name to our name since we didn't get a bill and the power was turned off. We paid it right away(within an hour of it off) and took her down to the MID office to sort it out and change the name. We were told too bad the power was off and it would take 3-5 business days to turn back on. They have our license, SS, and leasing agreement. 3-5 days it totally unacceptable! We spent the weekend in hotels and now staying with family and told "sorry it takes us 3-5 days and we will call you" what more could they possibly need? We went down there twice. I work from home and we have a small child and now I have to find places to stay and work. Totally unacceptable! And how hard is it to verify we live there? We gave then a leasing agreement. Why not turn it on and take a deposit. If we are fraud then keep the deposit and turn off. But have us wait for 3-5 business days is soo horrible.Desired Settlement: I want my power on! We did this on Thursday and still no power and told our account has no activity so nothing has been done. It is just horrible and I find it hard to believe there is soo many fraudulent applicants that this is how it should be done. Why not turn it on and take a deposit. If we are fraud then keep the deposit and turn off. But have us wait for 3-5 business days is soo horrible. I have a toddler and I work from home.

Review: Our electricity was shut off out of nowhere, and when we had called we were told it was because the bill was under our landlords name. It has been paid on time every month, but MID made the decision to cut off our service because of the fact we live here and not on our landlord, regardless of the agreement we have with our landlord. So my children and I were left with no heat or electricity until I could come up with deposit and a past due amount that was from a previous address. What's more upsetting is that we were given no notice, no chance to even be prepared for this.Desired Settlement: Not sure of what kind of settlement I could receive, I just would like justice in the fact that MID feel they can make the decision to shut off a family's heat and electricity on a bill that was made on time every month. It was so upsetting for me and my children.

Review: I have resided in Modesto for a very long time. It seems as MID feels that they are above the laws of this state. They again have placed an unpaid debt, not belonging to me, onto my account and they use strong-arm tactics as a means of resolving issues. They have done this to me now three (3) times each time they will not respond to notices of validating the debt and always apply the amount to a person's bill and force them into paying it with threats of terminating power. I have heard many similar stories from others throughout the community over the years and I cannot believe that nobody has done anything about the manner in which this PUBLIC UTILITY COMPANY conducts its business. They are here to provide services this community needs not place members in there to get rich. They appear to receive financing for bad debts and they refuse to execute proper collection of debt practices so debts remain valid and they can receive financing for said debts. It also appears they fabricate debts as a means of generating additional revenue. They probably never report the successful collection of these criminally fabricated debts and continue to portray these debts as valid again so they may generate additional financing through bonds or whatever. I for one will no longer sit back and watch this. I will become active and gather petition and witnesses to this company's abusive and criminal ways. I will seek and locate a class action attorney to represent us residents who are being tormented by these people daily. There are sites that contain information about this company and I will soon cause the creation of a very informative site that will allow people to report their experiences with these people and become part of a lawsuit that will hopefully create enough attention to get a higher state and federal agency to come in here and investigate our little corrupt town that appears to believe they can do whatever they like to community and steal what they want. WAKE UP MODESTO AND GET INVOLVED.Desired Settlement: ?A public apology asking forgiveness for all these years of torment and illegal and criminal tactics. A public promise that things will change immediately and investigations will be initiated that causes grand jury and outside departments and agencies to come in and review how MID has operated over many, many years. MID gives back any money they know they owe to people currently and overhauls their employees with new employees that are honest, and wish to do good.

Review: Modesto irrigation district diconnected power and will not reinstate without paying a prior bill that was not mine and disputed

My name is [redacted] and I reside at [redacted] in modesto, california with my 3 children ages 8, 6, & 2. I called MID in the begining of October to get service into my name and was told I had to first pay an outstanding prior balance of $448.15. I have never lived in modesto prior so I said I would like information on this to dispute the charges and was told I had to comme in the office to receive any info. I went in the office and was told service would not be issued on that address for anyone until that bill was paid and I could not dispute the charges. I called back into the office a few days after this and was told the prior bill was from feb-may of 2010 from a location for 2 months and then transfered to another address on the same street for another 2 months and was never paid and all was set up over the phone and I could dispute the charges but that service could not be put into my name until everything was paid and I could pay the amount to have service started and then dispute the charges. I thought that was my only option so I agreed to pay just to get service in my name started, then continue disputing. I had gone in to pay and didnt relize I was short the full amount and called "[redacted]" who arranged this with me to let her know and she said that was fine and to go inside and pay what I had, then realized it wasw now 5:02 and the lobby was closed. She said she would go ahead and start service in my name and to go in on monday and pay that amount. over the weekend I was advised from a 3rd party not to ecause it would almost be impossible to dispute the charges so I didn't. I planned on waiting for the bill for security deposit that was going to be billed out and pay that along with usage incured. I never received the bill for security deposit or any usage bill, only a disconnect notice showing I owed 648.15 and 448.15 had to be paid to prevent disconnect. The power was shut off on 11/12/13 and I called to discuss reinstating it talking to a [redacted] who said I could bring in proof of utilities at another location during the prior owed bill to show it was not me and I could bring my cell phone record to show the number for that account was not mine and then got transfered to [redacted] who got hostile and aggresive saying I could not dispute prior charges that the bill was mine and she did me a favor by billing out for the deposit and since I said I would pay the amount I accepted ownership of that bill. I told her I disputed from day one and she told me I had to pay and then I could dispute and she said by me agreeing to do that I agreed to take ownership of the bill. I said I did not set that account up and I wanted to know what information I needed to dispute it and was told I can not dispute it and no service will be turned on unless I pay that money to her. I said I have a leagal right to dispute anything I know 100% was not me and I would not allow her to bully me or pressure me into paying a bill that is not mine. She still refused to tell me what I needed to do or who to talk to so I said if I had to speak to an attorney to resolve this I will. She said she will not turn service on and shes noting the account and hung up. I have three small children and it is too cold to not have means to heat the house. Not to mention the $100 of food that was just purchased and is now spoiling in my fridge. the account number that was on the disconnect notice is XXXXXXXXXXXDesired Settlement: I want my service reinstated and the prior charges that were not mine and I have been trying to dispute to be taken off my account and I think this company needs to be looked into and dealt with about harrasment. I could only imagine the amount of people this has happened to prior to me and especially how many elder people who rather not combat and have taken advantage of poor innocent people just to get money out of someone because they feel they have no choice just as I did. I want the services back on in exchange for me not opening a lawsuite

Review: On November 17,2016 MODESTO IRRIGATION DISTRICT decided to increase my Solar monitoring cost from $12.50 a month to $21.60 per month. How can a company raise a bill almost 87% by just a board vote and not involve the consumer?Desired Settlement: I was under the understanding that past Solar customers were grandfathered into the original $12.50 monthly monitoring fee and the new rate was only for new customers.
