Moishe's Moving Systems Reviews (24)

Review: I had booked Moishe's for my move in NYC on Aug 17th, 2015. As a result of the move, I had a box of clothes that was stolen/missing. It was a box with very expensive clothing, which the movers overhead me saying. The entire box was never delivered. Clothing was worth over $3000, and I was able to provide receipt for $1900 of it. Moishe's will ony reimburse $600, not even half the value of the missing/stolen goods. And I have attempted to get them to just return my box to me, I prefer to have my clothes back. I attempted for months, but the fact that a reputable moving company can have an entire wardrobe box go missing, is very shocking. I am requesting for fair value compensation for the lost items.Desired Settlement: Either find my missing box, or refund the $1900 worth of receipts I provided (at least as close to it as possible) so I can personally replace some of my clothing.

Response:

The customer stated they had a piece that was damaged and a box missing. The coverage is 30 cents per pound and the total offer would have been an offer of about $100. We paid for the restoration of the damaged furniture and have offered $600 for the missing box.

Review: On On 30 September 2013 Moishe's movers came to pick up furniture from my apartment for storage in LIC, nY. I talked to [redacted] who was my contact person. He sent two skinny hispanic movers who told me they were not informed about all the details I discussed with [redacted] which shocked me. I had given all the measurements of my furniture to [redacted]. Movers told me they came from New Jersey without any instructions. [redacted] had told me moving furniture by stairs was not a problem. Most of the furniture was moved via elevator except one big piece. I was never informed movers can refuse to move furniture via stairs. I called [redacted] immediately, left several messages about the problem but he never replied. I called my building manager immediately and he told me that even larger pieces of furniture has been moved in the building via stairs so why can't these movers do it?. He also sent building staff to help them. I have witnesses. Even then the movers flatly refused. I was in a flux and livid as I was Packing, moving, and flying out of town the same day. I had to vacate the apartment. In addition my mother who is 86 had anxiety because of the attitude of movers. Had staff of Moishe's called me back immediately the movers would have complied. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO FINALLY ABANDON THE HEADBOARD in the garbage room. If Moishe's staf[redacted] had called me back immediately the movers would have moved my bed via stairs. I was very badly let down by Moishe's. I am still renting their storage for rest of my furniture since 30 Sept 2013. The cost of the bed was $2,500. My family were bereaved hence I had to travel overseas. Upon return I called Moishes to file a claim. They sent claim form which I sent back with all the required paperwork but [redacted], the Manager who sounded very assuring has refused to reimburse me. Hence I reverted to your office for help. Moishes staff are liars and dishonest. Everything on their website is contradictory to how I was treated.Desired Settlement: I am seeking full compensation of $2500, as I need to replace my custom made bed. [redacted], the Manager sounded very assuring in the beginning but now he has refused to reimburse me. He refuses to answer my calls and my emails hence I had to file this complaint with Revdex.com.

Response:

Hello,

We moves the customer, The headboard was too large and would not fit in the elevator. The customer was aware of this and it was left in the apartment and it needed to be taken apart by a carpenter of needed special handling. The customer know the piece was in the apartment and was aware of the situation. the customer left the piece in the apartment and never did anything to take the piece out. From what she told me, her building discarded the piece as her lease ran out. 3-4 months later she is calling demanding Moishe's pay for a new headboard. The headboard could not be moved and the customer left it in the apartment. It is not Moishe's responsibility of what the customer did with the headboard or if the building discarded it or sold it. Moishe's has no liability in this matter and is not offering any compensation.

Response:

Hello,

The piece was left behind and it was the customers decision that to do with it. In good faith we are offering $250 to resolve this case. We feel we bare no liability here but are offering the $250 as a courtesy.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Regards,

[redacted] and where do we stand now as I need payment from Moishe's soon-Eventhough they are not honest, I $139 every month to Moishes for my furniture stored at their storage in LIC since 1 Oct 2013. Some of the reviews are negative that they have bugs and

moths that eats up people's furniture etc. I pray to god they first reimburse me for the bed, moreover I hope my furniture is not rotting in their storage. I thank you

I would like to inform Moishe‘s for the last time after all the details provided in the initial complaint has been overlooked and you are in total denial. IT WAS NOT MY DECISION TO LEAVE MY BED BEHIND but IT WAS YOUR MOVERS WHO WENT ON STRIKE AND REFUSED TO MOVE IT VIA STAIRS so it was your staff who pushed me to abandon my bed. This is simple English, so why are you repeatedly accuse me faser instead of accepting your mistakes and bad behaviour. I did not get any help from [redacted] when l was desperate. He refused to answer my calls. I am honest and I stand by my words unlike you.

Your flowery language on your website is contrary to what I experienced. There is no truth on your website. Your staff are unprofessional, not skilled, do not know how to wrap furniture and do what they want to do. where is the justice?

People are not stupid. All this will go public and as a result tarnish your reputation.

[redacted] and [redacted] told me that your movers are specially trained to do everything and anything and moving it via stairs is what they always do. When I was desperate, [redacted] refused to answer or reply to my calls. I was flying out the same day.

What in your mind was I supposed to do with it, throw it down via the windows??? there is no justice in your answer. For god's sake why don't you accept the facts instead of ducking, circumventing and hiding behind your guilt.

I am outraged and fed up because I am still renting storage from you paying $139 a month since September 2013. don't you have any respect for your customers?? In Honesty I am not comfortable keeping your storage anymore with this kind of false accusations, lies and dishonest business.

[redacted] is very small and word about your behaviour will flare like fire and this is a fact. They are your biggest customers.

Having said that for you to repeatedly blame me and accuse me falsely that it was my decision for leaving it behind IS A TOTAL LIE. All your replies are consistently packed with lies. Shame.

For you to offer token $250 is not acceptable. New beds of the same kind costs $5,000. From the beginning I was reasonable by asking half the price so your token offer adds insult to injury. For you to say in good faith?????? what faith?

I need my total reimbursement to settle this dispute.

Response:

Hello,

We have been over the situation several times. The piece was left in the apartment and it was your decision what you needed to do with it, 5 months or so later you are asking us where the piece is or for us to pay for a piece that was in your apartment. Our FINAL offer is $500.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Your persistent lies makes me angry. it was not my decision to leave my bed behind. I had a contract with Moishes to move all my furniture to your storage including the bed for which measurements were given to [redacted]. YOUR MOVERS REFUSED TO MOVE IT - I HAVE TOLD YOU SO MANY TIMES - ALSO IF [redacted] IS HONEST ASK HIM ALL THE MESSAGES I LEFT ON HIS VOICEMAIL TELLING HIM TO CALL ME BACK ASAP BECAUSE YOUR MOVERS ARE REFUSING TO MOVE MY BED> I WANTED HOM TO TELL THE MOVERS TO MOVE IT BUT HE DID NOT RESPOND.

Contrary to your false fabricated lies, since I did not know what to do with it, it was your movers who took it to the garbage room as my tenants were moving in. IT WAS NOT left in my apartment.

I WAS FORCED TO ABANDON MY BED BY YOUR MOVERS. SO STOP LYING THAT IT WAS MY DECISION TO LEAVE IT IN MY APARTMENT. YOUR STATEMENTS ARE FABRICATED WITHOUT ANY TRUTH. I REPEAT I HAVE WITNESSES HOW BADLY YOUR MOVERS BEHAVED AND THEN GAVE YOU FALSE STATEMENTS> KINDLY DO NOT REPEAT YOUR LIES AGAIN AND REIMBURSE ME SO I CAN REPLACE MY BED.

Review: Moishe's failed to deliver to my new residence all of the items that they moved out of my previous residence. The inventory list Moishe's presented to me upon move-in was a different inventory list than that they used during my move-out over a year earlier.

Moishe’s packed up and moved all of my items out of my apartment in New York on 4/21/13. The number of listed items on the Moishe’s inventory list for that day is 31 items (Moishe's Carrier File #[redacted]). All of my things were stored with Moishe’s Self Storage facility in Brooklyn, NY, until the time of delivery to me on 6/10/14. Moishe’s had control over all of my items 100% of the time from the move out date, 4/21/13, until the move-in date on 6/10/14. On the date of move-in 6/10/14, Moishe’s had me check off the items on a new inventory (Moishe's Carrier File #[redacted]) list to ensure those items on the 6/10/14 inventory list were included. I signed that inventory list, indicating all of the items on the new inventory list (the 6/10/14 list/ File #[redacted]) were delivered.

I challenged my $1,400 payment to Moishe's through my [redacted], showing documentation that the 2 inventory lists weren't duplicates, as many items were clearly missing from the delivery list. In defense of my claim with [redacted] Moishe's repeatedly cites my signature of the 6/10/14 inventory list. That signature did not indicate that all of my items were delivered, just that the items listed in the inventory list dated 6/10/14 were, in fact, delivered. I did not realize until after the delivery how many of my items were missing, as Moishe’s had packaged everything up. I had no way of knowing what items were packed in which boxes, hence no way of knowing my items were missing, until I unpacked everything.

The inventory list I signed on 6/10/14 only listed 26 items, not the 31 items listed on the original inventory list on 4/21/13. I filed a claim with Moishe's and with [redacted] and there has been no appropriate resolution.Desired Settlement: At a minimum, I would like to be reimbursed the $1,400 that I paid Moishe's to move my things from New York to Miami. As mentioned, I filed a claim form with Moishe's on 7/14/14 as well as multiple claims with [redacted] and there has been no resolution (either an attempt to locate/deliver my items or to reimburse me for such items).

The total for the missing and damaged items was over $1,600 (not to mention I paid over $160/month for storage of items that may or may not have ever been stored)- I feel this is a reasonable request.

Business

Response:

We have the inventory as signed off and no items missing. We have processed the claim which is by the weight and it comes out to $ 120. We have offered $400 to settle the claim.

Consumer

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: as outlined clearly in my complaint, Moishes' pulled a bait-and-switch with their Inventory lists. My signature on the delivery invoice (Moishe's Inventory file number [redacted]) indicated that all of the items listed on that invoice were delivered. At that time, I had no way of knowing that Moishe's had switched the Inventory list, and used a different one the one they had used when they moved my things out months earlier (Moishe's Inventory File Number [redacted]).

there was no way I could have known that there were items missing at the time of delivery, since Moishe's did not present the inventory list (Moishe's File Number [redacted]) that they had used when they packed up my things. Instead, they presented me with a different inventory (Moishe's File Number [redacted]), which was missing 5 of the items on the original inventory.

The process of using the wrong inventory list, which clearly did no include all of my items is unconscionable and fraudulent, and I cannot believe that Moishe's charge me for a move where they lost 5 of my boxes of items. Not only did they lose them, instead of presenting the correct invoice, the one that was used when the moved my items out, they simply had me check of a different inventory with less items marked on it, and played it off as though it were the original.

I uploaded the two inventory lists for comparison. It is clear that on the Inventory list dated 4/21/13, has 31 items listed, and the inventory list presented to me for signature at the time of delivery only had 26 items listed. A clearly deceitful practice- I can't even imagine how that is even legal. If we are unable to come a resolution here I will certainly be finding out.

Response:

Hello,

There are 2 inventories. One inventory is from the residence to storage. When you book a long distance job they create a new inventory. 2 boxes are sometimes packed into a larger box and items are re wrapped. Stuff can be loose in a storage unit, but to go long distance the items need to be packed differently to be stacked. This is why the inventory is different. in an effort to resolve this we can offer $500 to resolve this. This exceeds the legal liability of 60 cents per pound.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: Moishes did not arrive on time and their customer service was very rude. They had committed to being at our residence at 9am and did not arrive. They said they got lost and when we called customer service, they didn't answerDesired Settlement: We would like to reimbursed for the charge
