We have used mmi in the past and had achieved becoming debt free and I'm thinking of using them again in the near future . All our cards were paid on time and we had no issue with them. Customer service were always there to help, very courteous and answered any questions we had. Would recommend them highly and like I said planning to use them agin in the near future if I need to

We have used them plus have had a few family members use them - you still pay all the debt you incurred which I like because it's not fair in my eyes to settle - but they do work with you on payment / Interest rates get dropped too & in 5 years which comes quick I may add you're credit card debt free - we've worked with them since 2008 then helped family get on plan 2011 - every time we've called amazing service and reps !!! Helpful beyond imagination - look no further & don't go with places who don't make the payments and settle your debt bc in the end your credit score will take a huge hit - using Mmi your score will go up!

Review: In March 2015 I contacted this company for a Credit Counseling Course prior to filling for bankruptcy. I was told by two representatives that I would only be charged a one-time fee of $40 for the Credit Counseling Course (prior to filling) and the Debtor Education Course (post filling). I took my Credit Counseling Course and was now ready to take my Debtor Education Course. I went on the website and was asked to pay an additional fee of $50 for the post filling course. I called customer service and spoke to a rep who advised that what I was previously advised, by multiple reps, was incorrect and I would have to pay the additional fee to complete the course (that was now raise from $40 to $50). She advised that there was no way to waive the fee and I would have no choice but to pay the fee if I wanted my certificate to show that I completed the course.

I am highly upset that this company has not taken responsibility for sharing incorrect information and I was not advised of the increase of fees a month after taking the initial course. This is bad business practice and some one should be aware of this. I don't make a lot of money and paying an additional $50 after I was told I would only be required to pay $40 is false advertisement.Desired Settlement: I would like the $50 refunded to me because I was given wrong information about the fees for service. I feel as though this was a 'bait and switch' situation to get me to pay for services. I was not advised when first using this company that I would be changed an additional fee for completing the second half of the course.

MMI is prohibited by the [redacted]) to bundle bankruptcy counseling services together. Bundling (or offering both the pre- and post-filing sessions together for one fee) is prohibited as it assumes the outcome of the initial counseling session. Therefore, each session is separate and requires separate disclosures and fees.Ms. [redacted] completed her counseling and education courses during the time that MMI implemented an [redacted]-approved fee increase on April 1, 2015. The fees for online bankruptcy counseling were increased to $50 for both the pre- and post-filing sessions. In the spirit of cooperation, MMI has opted to refund Ms. [redacted] the $50 fee for her education course since she was counseled so close to the implementation of the fee increase.

My wife and I started with MMI over 3 years ago and $76,969.85 in credit cards debt. Today we have two more payments and we are done. What a relief, if you follow the instructions there will be no issues. This company was recommended to us by [redacted] credit card services when we were finding it difficult to control our CC dept, we are extremely please with their services.

I have been MMI's services for a couple years to pay off credit card debt. They have recently made an error, which resulted in my credit card company dropping me from the payment system. MMI has done nothing to correct their error, and in fact, have now blamed me saying I did not update my balances correctly. The math is completely wrong on their part, and now, after I am asking for some sort of retribution, they are going back on their admission of fault. They are paid a monthly fee to "manage your money." The truth is they manage nothing, you apparently have to watch their every move. Don't use this company, their customer service is terrible. They don't care about helping you, they just care about making money. I will be looking for a new credit consolidation company asap.

We are in the process of a reverse mortgage and were directed to contact the San Diego office of Money Management International.

Every attempt to do that has been totally unsuccessful. Their phone message states Office hours 8-5 Mon-Fri. Monday we made 7 attempts to call 11am-3:15pm, all calls were dropped and they offer no access to leave a message.

We email the company asking for someone to call us. To date no contact has been made. Today we have called every 5 minutes from 8am-9:30am and the message is the same: everyone is busy helping others, call back later. If this counseling is mandatory for a reverse mortgage then we are running into a brick wall.

We used Money Management (opened account with them in 2009) to help us pay off two credit cards that were quite high in balance. They negotiated significantly better interest rates. Every month they paid as according to contract and each month we received statements from our credit card companies showing that the amounts were paid and at the agreed upon interest rate. We made our last payment to MMI this past October, and they even called to congratulate us on completing the dept program. It was real nice to have those 2 monkeys off our backs. All we had to do was report balances periodically via our online account to make sure the balances of our credit card statements matched the MMI records. It was hassle-free for 5 years.

Review: The company was handling payment of creditors for me and failed to make the final payment to one of my creditors after receiving my payment.

I contacted MMI to work with me to pay off creditors on my behalf. I would pay MMI and they would pay my creditors. My complaint is regarding the company failing to make the final payment ($570.48) to one of my creditors as agreed, by March 5th, 2015. They had previously stated they would give me a refund after April 5th, 2015 if the creditor had not received the payment. The creditor did not receive payment from MMI. MMI thus far has not refunded me the money or offered to refund the money. I have asked for a refund of the whole amount I paid them which includes their service fee since they failed to provide this service. I have asked for them to refund the money to my bank account, which they were automatically deducting from, so I can make the payment myself as the creditor is charging me daily interest which is on top of late a fee. This will allow me to quickly make a payment and avoid further fees, which MMI said I will be responsible for. Customer service said someone will contact me; I have not been contacted by the company. They had previously suggested I pay the creditor while I await action from MMI. I did not agree to that course of action.Desired Settlement: I seek a full refund of the amount I paid MMI, $570.48, in a wired transfer to my bank account which they have on record. This will allow me to quickly make the payment they were to make on my behalf and avoid further interest and late fees.

Review: I contacted MMI at the beginning of November to inquire about services and went through a counseling session with [redacted]. After calling to get my contract details (because they were never sent) from [redacted] I called back and spoke with [redacted] to finish my enrollment. He stated to me I did not need to make any payments to the creditors. I asked if I would become passed due and he stated no if I received any late fees the creditors would waive them. I asked him again if he was sure and that I could make extra payments and he told me he knows that I could and not to worry about it.

After doing some research online I still sent my payments to my creditors for the month of November (even though it was advised by [redacted] not to). For the month of December I noticed some creditors were asking for a difference so I emailed MMI to confirm what [redacted] told me was true and was told that I indeed needed to make a difference payment. I did so that same day. 2 days later I received a call from the collections department with [redacted]’s (phone # ###-###-####) stating I owed $9.23 passed due, had a $25 late fee and they were requesting $75 to get me back to current status. I explained I was in a DMP and the creditor told me they had not received a proposal and would follow-up with me in a few days and that they did show I paid $15 on 12/10 to cover the $9.23 passed due amount. I contacted Melvin (who stated it was his last day) and he would look into the matter. He then put me on the phone with the supervisor, [redacted], who explained she would pull the call and call me back. Once [redacted]’s accepted my proposal I would be contacted in regards to the late fee and high minimum amount due. I was never contacted.

I just spoke with Alicia who told me [redacted] was busy with another client and put me on the phone with a supervisor named [redacted] (after waiting for over 40 minutes). He told me they would submit a written request to [redacted]’s to waive the $25 fee but could not make any guarantees and would not get a response for some time and he needed to follow the proper channels. This is completely unacceptable. Why should I have to pay a $25 late fee due to MMI’s counselor providing me with inaccurate information? [redacted] told me I should not have listened to the counselor and should have gone by the written contract as that supersedes any verbal discussion. That posed to me that I should not trust what counselors are telling me which shows a lack of integrity. I told him due to that I wanted our conversation in writing and him to call me back and let me know if I needed to send anything to [redacted]’s to ensure I am not passed due. He said he would call me before he left for the day and hasn’t called me or sent anything to my email address.

In closing, I contacted MMI to get out of debt not to be assessed additional fees and start a financial burden for myself or to mention additional stress with all of this. I have never been late with any of my creditors and had the counselor explained to me the correct process of the difference payment while in transition of the proposals being accepted I would have complied.Desired Settlement: I want MMI to have [redacted]’s waive the $25 late fee due to the error in discussion from the counselor who enrolled me or pay the fee themselves and ensure I will not be passed due with [redacted]’s.

Response:

MMI has received and resolved the complaint by Ms. [redacted] regarding the $25 late fee applied by her creditor. We have addressed this matter with her creditor, [redacted]’s, who has indicated the late fee was applied prior to the start of the debt management plan. In an effort to mitigate the discrepancy, MMI has issued a refund of $25 to be allocated to her [redacted]’s account. We have also confirmed the status of the account remains current without any adverse reporting of late payment. The client has affirmed her satisfaction with the resolution of this matter and we will continue to provide service and support in helping her reach her financial goals.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Due to the error in the counselors suggestions I want to ensure no other consumers have to deal with this nightmare and would like to know that the counselor was spoken to in regards to this matter so that he is properly trained to advise clients on how to handle the transition process. Had I been initially told to make the make-up payments none of this would have happened.

Regards,

I have been with Money Management International for about 4 1/2 years. I have one payment left! With their assistance I have been able to pay off all of my debt. The customer service has been outstanding. They have been great to work with!
