Company would not let me cancel the service that was supposed to be $99.00 for a year. It was not!A rep came by to offer to wipe down any spider webs I might have. He did. He said for $99. they would come by 4 times and take care of any insects on the lawn, and check for spiders. I told him I had a Pest service already and really did not need his service, but for $99.00 they could come by 4 time a year and take down any spider webs they might find. 3 months later they came by and walked around the house. I could not see them doing anything but reaching up here and there around the house with a padded stick. I paid them the $99.00. When they called just recently to come by again for another $99.00 I said I did not need their services any more as I paid the $99. I am not in need of their services and asked to have the service cancelled. They said, No the contract is not up yet and I could not cancel. They said if I did not want their services any longer I would have to pay them $219.00. I just today received their bill for $219.00 mailed 1/31/14. I did not sign up for four instances of $99.00 and I do not need the service. I need to cancel this service as they do not do anything but brush around the house with a rag on a stick. Any valid service that is not doing what they advertise should allow a customer to cancel. Desired SettlementI just need to cancel this service and not be billed for $219.00. I paid for the service that was performed - $99.00 and will not pay for any further service.Business Response /[redacted]/Upon receiving this complaint, we contacted the customer and reached an amicable solution. She acknowledged that she misunderstood our service and we then discussed options for how to proceed. The agreement all customer sign explains that we provide 4 quarterly services for $99 each. If the service is cancelled before the year is up, we ask that the customer pay back the discounted portion of the initial service, which in this case was $219. Dewebbing is perhaps the most visible aspect of our service (since it's hard to miss a 30-foot web pole!). During each visit we also powerspray a treatment around the foundation of the home, granulate the lawn areas, inspect and treat for any additional pests in the yard, and treat inside upon request. In addition to the dewebbing, powerspraying and granulation, we also treated this customer's crawlspace and treated specifically for ants.

I contracted Moxie Pest Control to service my home. After the first application approx. June 14. I was not satisfied after approx. a weeks later I asked that they send someone back immediately they cancelled and made appointments they did not keep. Their answer was they didn't set up that date and kept putting me off. Finally someone came out and said we had the same problem and retreated. They sent me an email to set up a time to come out yet again and service the area the next week. I did not respond or approve the visit because I was out of the country. It was only 2 weeks after the second application they returned to apply the quarterly application not taking into consideration the fact they were just out 2 times in 3 weeks. They did not get prior approval nor approval to charge my credit card. I am completely unsatisfied with their service in regards to setting up and showing up for appointments, not telling me they are coming, charging my credit card without notification and now charging me to cancel my service. They put down 3 application in less then a month. They have not solved any of my problems as promised and with terrible customer service I have the right to cancel without penalty if I believe they are not doing what is promised. I would like to not only dispute the charge but file a complaint so others can be warned not to use them. I offered since they already charge my credit card without my permission for the quarterly service to keep that for the termination fee. They did not agree to that and now want to charge me an addition $130 dollars. The go house to house and promise you everything but do not tell you about how they start your quarterly application only 3 weeks after the first initial application no matter how many times they come out. Also they claim there products are safe they are spraying pesticides 3 times in 3 weeks I do not want chemical applied in my house and yard that frequently and if I am not seeing results I don't believe they are spraying anything.Product_Or_Service: Pest ControlOrder_Number: XXXXXXXDesired SettlementI am being generous by offering them the $139 fee from there last application and also the $89.00 for the initial application that is $228.00 for nothing I still have the problems they said they would take care of. I would prefer a full refund since they did not deliver what they had promised. You may also want to check if they are killing moles which they are not suppose to do in North Caroline. They claim they put down something to make voles/moles move over to your neighbors yard.Business Response /[redacted]/We reached out to this customer to discuss the account and reached a mutually agreeable solution. We appreciate this customer's willingness to discuss the account and come up with a solution that we both feel is fair. Each of the services we provided (the initial service, the free reservice for ants and voles, and the July quarterly service) each have unique objectives and utilize different products to achieve specific results. For example, a flushing treatment uses different products than a barrier treatment. It is expected to see an increase in activity after the initial treatment since we are flushing out pests, as explained to new customers in the welcome call and by the technician. The first quarterly service, which we complete a month after the flushing treatment, sets up the barrier around the home. Voles in particular often require a higher level of attention, and we are always willing to retreat for them as much needed. All reservices between quarterlies are free. In accordance with North Carolina law, we do not treat for moles. As we explain to all our customers in a welcome call upon beginning service, we will reach out to schedule quarterly services via phone call and if no response is given, we will send out service. In addition to leaving voicemails, this time we also emailed the customer to let her know that it was time for the quarterly service. We received no objection, so service was sent out. This customer also wrote her credit card number on the agreement and specifically signed that it was to be charged automatically the day after each service. This signature is separate from the overall contract signature to ensure the customer wants to use this autopay feature. We would never automatically charge a credit card without this signature or express permission from the customer.

I've paid about $600 worth of services from Moxie due to the contract. I went from no pests to nothing but.I can provide dates if necessary, but it was a contract-one initial visit, 4 subsequent quarterly visits, and call back visits in between for a one year period. I didn't have ants in my house when I signed up. I haven't been without ants inside my house since their first visit. I think they have been out here 6 to 7 times and ants have been constant inside and out. They just charged me for my last installment a couple of weeks ago. The very next day I still have ants crawling all over my front door steps, large mounds in the yard, and in the house. I have told them at least twice that I wanted out of contract because their efforts have been worthless. They wouldn't quit the service nor give me back any of my money nor let me not pay. The last time I spoke to them I was told that I owed money, I got cut off with them before I agreed to pay, and they charged me moments after I got off phone with them.Desired SettlementI have been unsatisfied since day 1 and would like all of my money back. That said, I signed the contract like an it, so I am willing to pay half.Business Response We want every customer to be satisfied and pleased with our service, so we take Mr. [redacted]'s feedback very seriously and want to remedy his concerns. To that end, we have reached out multiple times via phone and email to speak with him since receiving this complaint, but he has not yet returned our messages. We're happy to compromise with him by providing the desired resolution he requested in his complaint, but we just need to speak with him to be able to send out a check. As explained in our phone and email messages, we look forward to hearing from him. We can be reached at XXX-XXX-XXXX or [redacted]@moxiepestcontrol.com. Consumer Response I have received a response from Moxie Pest Control, but have not called them back yet. I have employed [redacted] for a 1 time service to try to get rid of the ants. They came by 2 days ago and today is the first time I have been without ants in over a year. That said, I have been without ants for 1 day. If I get through tomorrow without ants, I will call Moxie and explain the difference-$80 verses $600, no ants verses ants, and will ask for a full refund.ThanksFinal Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)Moxie agreed to pay back half the money as I requested and they say a check is on the way. As long as it shows up, I'll be satisfied. Thanks for the help on your partFinal Business Response Mr. [redacted] returned our call yesterday to confirm his address and we have mailed him a check in accordance with his original desired resolution.

Sales guy have me sign a contract where hidden in fine print is a 1 year service commitment, but no clause for solving pest control problem.Sales guy came to my door promising pest control treatment and anti termite treatment with a attractive starting price. Also mentioned that after 3 services the contractual obligation would be done. Now they have been unable to resolve the spider and ant problem, after repeated applications I asked for cancellation of service. Moxie now wants to charge $150 cancellation fee, as they say contract requires 2 more applications at $99 each.As they are unable to do effective pest control they are also in violation of their obligation so I have a solid ground for cancellation of service, but they turned a deaf ear to my side of the argument.Desired SettlementRefund the cancellation fee for services not performed of $150Business Response /[redacted]/We're glad we were able to further discuss this matter with the customer and come to a compromise we both feel is fair. We sincerely appreciate the customer's willingness to talk to us so we can reach a mutually satisfactory resolution. The first line of our agreement explains, "This service agreement shall be continued for a minimum period of (12) twelve months according to the dates and pricing listed above on this agreement." As evidenced by its placement in our agreement, we never attempt to hide this fact, especially since regular quarterly services are an integral part of our treatment plan. The agreement then explains that we do not treat for termites. Since we understand that there is a lot of information being exchanged during an initial sale, we reiterate the terms of our service multiple times with new customers to prevent such misunderstandings. Each customer is given a copy of the agreement, and we then go over the one-year agreement again when the technician arrives, and again via a personal welcome call. The customer is correct about the early cancellation fee. If an agreement is terminated before the year is complete, we ask that the discounted portion of the initial service be refunded, in this case $150. This too is specified in the agreement and during the welcome call. We are always willing to come retreat for persistent pest activity at no additional cost. All our one-year agreements include unlimited free reservices. Again, we appreciate the customer's willingness to discuss the account and agree on a solution.

We have used Moxie Pest Control for 2 years now. We had a definite roach problem when we started with them - in the garage and throughout the inside of our house. They decreases significantly after the first treatment, but were still present. We had them respray after a month or so which got rid of most of them. After six months, when the yard had been fully treated a couple of times, we no longer have roaches anywhere, inside or out. Whenever we have seen one, and it's usually just one or two random sitings, they have come back to spray at no charge and all is well again. [redacted] was just here today. He showed up with a smile, treated the whole inside again and was very pleasant in the process. We have been very satisfied with their service and results. I would definitely recommend them if you have pest problems.

We had our first treatment today and [redacted] was polite, friendly. He explained everything to me and made sure I didn't have any questions. He made sure I knew to call if we have any problems before our next visit. We are looking forward to Moxie returning next month to get started on the regular treatment schedule. [redacted] was the salesman and he also was polite and friendly. It was not a hard sell, but a through overview of the services and the product.

My garden and pets have been poisoned / burned by this supposed "organic" treatment. The email on their site goes nowhere. Following up with NC Ag whole garden burned, pets sickDesired SettlementNo more service, no invoice, termination of service. They lied x 3, and poisoned my yard, garden and pets.Business Response /[redacted]/The customer wished to retract this complaint after speaking with us. We're glad we were able to reassure her about the safety of our products. We explained that we use organically derived products and that as noted on her account, service orders, and agreement, we always make sure to never apply products near her garden. She acknowledged this and thanked us for explaining our product line to clear up her confusion. No animals were harmed in any way.

Charged before canceling service. My parents told the technician I wanted to cancel as they were completing an application and I actually called at Noon. When I called at noon, they told me the management would call me back to cancel. Then come to find out the management never called back but they ran my Credit Card for $99 (A full quarter). I seen this email at 3:57pm, then I called management of Moxie and your management team to tell me this couldn't be reversed or even pro-rated. The management constantly argued with me to tell me this was my fault. I would even take a prorated cost but they said this is not possible as this is a quarterly charge. I don't understand how a company can over charge people. Also how they don't call you back till they hurry up and charge my card. No Sense. I will make sure others know about the service your team provides.Desired SettlementI believe a pro-rated cost just be adjusted to my card. Why would this company hurry up to charge my card before management would call me back to verify cancellation. This is very unbusiness like. Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/Moxie is refunding pro-rated amount of $66 which was agreed from [redacted].

Contact for one year with automatic payment draws. At conclusion of the year continued to service without consent.I was under a one year contract with automatic bank drafts. At the conclusion of the year they called me weekly wanting to schedule service. I declined each time and was simply told that they would keep it open for me. With out consent or request the came to my home when I was not there and serviced my yard and proceeded to bill me. When I called to complain they said that the contact goes month to month after the year and that unless I had put it in writing I was still an active client. At no time was I told this. I then put it in writing and told them to credit for the service the provided without my consent and thus far they have refused. This is deceptive practices and I have no intention of paying them for services I did not authorize.Desired Settlementremove this chargeFinal Consumer Response /[redacted]/I believe we have resolution

Moxie service was horrible. Twice the guy came here and damaged my garage door . He sprayed that [redacted] all over the sensors and the garage door stopped working. They never took responsibility for their actions. They are the WORST pest control company in Raleigh. I told them NOT to come unless you speak with me but they refused to listen to the customer and did whatever the [redacted] they wanted to do. the people who answer the phones don't have a clue young girls high school girls that are clueless. Never again

Thank you Moxie and [redacted] for coming out so promptly and taking care of my pesky sugar ant problem, I have always had a great experience with the professionalism, friendly and knowledgable technicians. More times than not, they take care of other issues as well on the spot. R [redacted]

Overcharged cancellation fee. Should have been $59, was $115.Service plan was sold based upon a discount for initial treatment. Would have been $229, but was discounted to $160 for initial treatment. Remaining treatments were scheduled quarterly for $229 with unlimited returns for pests. Early termination would result in the discount being cancelled and remaining full payment would become due. Contract was cancelled, but instead of the agreed upon cancellation fee of $59, business charged $115. Have Initial invoice showing $160 charge and have subsequent invoice showing $219 charge available for review. Business needs to refund overage of $56.Desired SettlementSeeking $56 refund for over charge of cancellation fee.Business Response /[redacted]/The difference in early cancellation fees varies based on the square footage of the home and any discounts given on the first service. The service agreement explains, "the first service performed on a home under 3,400 square feet has a minimum cost of $219." Since this home is more than 3,400 square feet, the price of the first service normally costs $275. The customer received a discount of $115 so that the first service would cost $160. In response to this complaint, we reached out to the customer to explain the difference in price. As a gesture of goodwill, we have refunded the $56 per the customer's request.

Review: Big, big, promises, terrible, terrible work.Desired Settlement: I would like my money back.
