When my heat stopped working I called Mr. Holland's, they arrived quick and on time. The tech seemed very knowledgeable, and as I watched, he explained everything to me. He said my secondary heat exchanger was pitted and corroded, leaking water into a low pressure switch. He removed the switch and emptied water from it. The cost to replace the exchanger and switch would be about $2,400. , better to replace the entire 20 year old furnace. He told me I could drain the low pressure switch to get the heat working if it stopped again, and told me he could not say if, or how long this would work. I set up an appointment with them and 2 other HVAC companies to come out with estimates for a new furnace.
The first guy from C & B Custom Heating & Air Conditioning, was not dressed as the salesman I was expecting, but was a technician. I told him of Mr. Holland's diagnosis and he proceeded to look inside my furnace anyway. There is a hose which drains water from the heat exchanger to a pump which empties into my basement sump. He squeezed the hose about 10 times and lots of water immediately drained. EZ fix NO CHARGE! I will eventually need a new heat exchanger, but C & B (a small honest Family business) told me Carrier had a lifetime guaranty on these exchangers! I will just pay labor of about $500. The plugged drain line seems like the most common and easily fixed problem, why didn't Mr. Hollands check that 1st? Were they trying to get me to spend big $$'s on a new furnace?

I can't help but to write a comment on Hollands One Hour Heating after hearing their radio commercials over and over lately and then reading numerous complaints online similar to what happened to me 4 years ago.
4 Winters ago my furnace would click on but wouldn't electronically ignite. It was a cold 20 degree day and the inside home temperature was nearing 50 degrees. I called Hollands One Hour Heating and they scheduled an appointment for that afternoon. A bit late on arriving but not a big deal at all.
As the service tech entered my kitchen, he held out a clipboard and started to go over service plans off of a clip board he was holding with various costs/levels of service. I looked at him and stated "Aren't you going to go downstairs and look at the furnace first?" After seeing I was in no mood to buy into any of their service packages, he proceeded downstairs.
Within minutes he came back up and told me one of my heat exchangers was cracked and running the furnace could be fatal due to leaking carbon monoxide. I went downstairs as he requested and noted a bright Orange sticker placed on my furnace reading it was unsafe to run (sticker is still there today 4 years later).
He proceeded to put a camera probe inside the furnace and from his laptop was telling me certain appearances were cracks in the heat exchangers. We discussed prices on replacing them along with furnace costs. Keep in mind, I am in a home now that is in the upper 40's and no working furnace. He talked a good talk and ultimately had things set up for people from their Co to come and bring electric heaters to my home and had a furnace sales person scheduled to come over to my home in the AM as I was told to not turn the furnace on again as there was a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning due to the cracked heat exchanger.
I then paid for the service call (I believe $45.00 or $90.00 at the time/not sure the exact amount) and began thinking after they left how things didn't seem right. Firstly, way too aggressive with selling me a sales package at the front end before he ever inspected my furnace and then way too pushy setting up an appointment for the AM for a sales person to come to my home.
I then called a 2nd Co from the Kewaskum area and they showed up to my home 2 hours later. I told him my story and he laughed and said "Let me go down and take a look".
10 minutes he comes up and says your furnace is repaired. It was a "Orifice" where the gas comes out of an injector that was clogged. Price of the part: $9.00!! I asked about the heat exchangers and he said they are fine and further stated to me that he checked my furnace serial # and being my house was built only 8 years ago that the heat exchangers were still partially under warranty had they had a crack which they didn't.
So, Hollands One Hour tried to sell me a new furnace, scare me with the bright Orange sticker on my furnace, have portable heaters brought to my home all when had the exchangers been cracked they were still under factory warranty and could have been replaced from the factory. Yet they never told me that and wanted to sell me a new furnace.
To this day 4 years later, my furnace that I was told to never turn back on still runs fine today 4 years later and the cost of the part to fix it 4 years ago was $9.00! The Orange sticker is still on the furnace. Hollands wanted to rip me off at the time for a new furnace.
I ultimately had to argue tooth and nail to get my refund back from Hollands for the service call, ended up contacting Katrina at FOX 6 consumer affairs and finally did get a refund for the service call.
From my experience I would never never touch this Co as they are more about selling you a new furnace or a service package contract deal than even looking at your furnace and that is fact based on my experience with them. What's funny and prompted me to write this is I just saw a very similar complaint on this website where another individual talked of the same incident/circumstances.
In fact the 2nd Co I had come out that same day that fixed the furnace with the $9.00 part charged me only $9.00 and said the service call was on him after hearing the ordeal I told him I went thru with Hollands.
If I were you and based on my experience; I would not recommend Hollands Heating to my worst enemy.

I called in the morning requesting service on my air conditioner. They sated they would call back with a time that someone could come out and look at it. They did this within a matter of minutes and the technician was right on time! After looking at the air conditioner the tech gave me a few different options and told me what he would do in my instance. He did not try to sell me up but told me straight forward what was wrong and what could be done.

***, the technician who came as a result of an appointment I made, was excellent. I was home all day and he walked me thru all the steps he was taking. Very interesting and *** was very knowledgeable. I wouldn't hesitate to use them for future needs.

The tech was very professional both in his appearance
and in explaining every step he took to service my
equipment. He wasn't going to leave until I was completely satisfied with all that was done and the
reasons that he did what was done

Your techs are always very professional and friendly. They explain things to me so that I can understand the situation. Keep up the great work!

I had my air conditioners replaced and my furnaces checked for winter. I also had some duct work replaced. Everyone I worked with was professional and explained things well. They worked efficiently and cleaned up after themselves. I will continue to work with this company for all my heating and air conditioning needs. THANK YOU!

Very friendly and helpful people. Worked quickly and cleanly. Good communication throughout. Worked very hard to resolve any issue. They also do all the work to get every rebate and refund due to you from the manufacturer and utilities.

The staff at Mr. Holland's Heating is great and they are always polite and helpful. I have been using their services for approximately 10 years and have no complaints whatsoever!!!

“Before your tech even arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. I was told to expect him between 8 and 9 but received a call from your office at 7:57. I was told that the tech had encountered traffic and would arrive between 8:15 and 8:30. I was stunned by this courtesy. Tommy was excellent. He was very patient with my questions and very good at explaining things in an easy to understand manner. All this made it much less painful to pay for a repair.”

They do very good work. Installed my furnace and air conditioner in my old house. Excellent job. We built a new house and had a different company, and I now have gone back to Mr. Holland Heating.

I applaud Holland's Heating & Air Conditioning for their hiring practices. I've worked with 5 of their technicians on 3 separate jobs, and they're all very professional, personable, reliable, and helpful. They're also very positive-based and its easy to tell that they care about the work they do. I have nothing but good to say about both the A/C tune-up (at my daughters house) and the duct cleaning & furnace install (at my house) projects I had done. Kudo's to Matt, Joe, Mike, Gary, Tim, and of course Steve for hiring them! The office staff is also very much on top of it. Dealt with Heather and Brenda. Very polite, friendly, and helpful! Would definitely recommend Holland's!

This was the first time I purchased an Air Conditioner from Mr. Holland's Heating and Air Conditioners. What a joy it was to do business with them. The sales and service people were more than helpful with their knowledge. The technicians were just great and I am thrilled with the operation of my new Conditioner. I would certainly recommend Mr. Holland's to anyone who needs a new Air Conditioner. God Bless all of the people with this Company. Thank you so much.

Service work performed on a 12kw stand-by generator at my residence was flawless. Very happy with the technician and his expertise-knowledge. Service was completed in a timely manner. Technician took time to show AND demonstrate to me the service work needed and what needs to be completed for regular maintenance on the generator.

I can't say enough positive things about Holland's One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning! Professional, polite, truly concerned about the customer. They went above and beyond any expected customer service levels. Their technicians, installation crew, and electrician are phenomenal!!! The girls in the office are incredible as well! I will always use this company!!

We have been utilizing Mr. Holland's services for several years. They have installed 2 furnaces (hot water and hot air) and 2 A/C units (rooftop and first floor). We are members of their Comfort Club. Service has always been excellent: timely, reliable, efficient and. Of high quality. Their staff of service technicians and administrative personnel are outstanding. Their pricing for their services and materials is very fair.
I am pleased to highly recommend this organization.
