Totally inappropriate and intrusive request by M&T Bank
In early June of 2020, I called the Mayville NY branch to inquire about making a withdraw from my checking account. I was told that because the amount was several thousand, I would have to come in to the bank. This was expected and that's why I called. What wasn't expected was being told I had to PUT IN WRITING WHAT I WAS GOING TO USE MY OWN MONEY FOR BEFORE I COULD WITHDRAW IT! Unbelievable! When I finally calmed down enough, I asked why they would make such a request. I was told it was for my protection. I refused their insane request and demanded my money. I had an auto loan with them and informed them it would be gone by the following day!
I ran into a similar problem with them several years ago involving a mortgage I had with them. Immediately upon acquiring my mortgage they started calling me every month to remind me of my upcoming payment. This soon became very annoying, so I called their "customer service" number and spoke to Latisha. I explained to her that the phone calls were annoying and asked her if she could make them stop. She said NO! She then proceeds to tell me they wouldn't be calling me if I had been making my payments on time. I assured her that this was not the case and again asked for the calls to stop; again she says NO! Being the resourceful person that I am, I tell her that I can make the calls stop. She asks how I would be able to do that? I tell her there would be no reason for them to keep calling me if I didn't have a mortgage with them anymore "hint hint". Her response was UNBELIEVABLE! She tells me they would be more than happy for me to take my mortgage elsewhere! NOW THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE! I go to their Fredonia NY branch and tell Skip, the manager my story, and watch his mouth drop open. My mortgage was gone the following week! Don't let their moto "Understanding what's important" fool you, it's the farthest from the truth! I wish I could give them a negative star rating! Gene from Western NY.

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear belowM&T bank has continued to refuse to acknowledge that I have been a good customer and have never been late on a paymentI missed the September payment because of an oversight on my part, and have asked them to agree to adjust my credit report out of goodwill since this missed payment was obviously an accident and it does not accurately reflect my likeliness of ever missing another payment in the future (as mentioned before, I have not been late on any payments to anyone in over years)This company keeps reciting the dates of notifications to me (although I have already stated I which ones I received, the others I did not receive for reasons unknown), and side-stepping what I have stated is most important to me, which my credit report Credit reports should let others agencies determine the relative risk of lending to a customer, and reporting a day late payment does not help M&T, other agencies, or myself I have proven that I am reliable and highly unlikely to ever miss a payment in the future, and this missed payment was purely accidental and an isolated incidentI am aware of the fair credit reporting act that M&T keeps quoting, however I am also aware that they are able to make an adjustment out of goodwill so that my credit report does not reflect a 30-day late paymentI would understand their unwillingness to do this if I were someone that often does not make on time payments, but I am not one of those people and I believe that any company that truly values good customers would be willing to forgive a single, isolated oversightRegards, [redacted] ***

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] 0, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below Clearly, Ms [redacted] does not have a clue what she is talking aboutMaybe M&T should look at the entire caseThey assume to know what is going onThe facts speak for themselvesFirst off, I never contacted the Telephone Banking Center to file my complaintThe complaint was filed in person, at the Belair Road BranchAt that time I did file a complaint for Services paid for and not renderedThe amount of the dispute was $The telephone rep did not file my requestThe Banking rep did Yes I was issued a provisional creditI received a letter requesting additional informationThe only info that M&T mailed to me was a contractI had never disputed the fact that I signed a contract The reason M&T did not receive my response was that I had eye surgeryI can not see without my glasses I did call the Banking Center and asked to speak to Mr [redacted] I was told he was unavailable, and leave a messageWhich I didI left the message that I had surgery, and I could not wear my glasses for daysI would respond as soon as I was able to see See letterOn SeptI did fax the entire case to Mr [redacted] I called again on Oct to check and see if my fax was receivedI was told that it had notI had confirmation that it hadI faxed the packet againThey received it this time Per MsMcCarty's letter she states that my case was dismissed, because I did not respond when requestedThat was not my understandingWhen I called the Banking center and spoke to Lisa a supervisorI was told that form letters sent out, days to respond is a preliminary requestLisa told me to go back to the Bank on the next Business day and have the case reopenedWhen I went to the back, I was refused the opportunity to reopen the caseThe Rep called the department responsibleShe said that the woman on the phone told her to tell us that the case is closed and would NEVER be reopened I left the bank and called the Banking center againI was able to speak with LisaLisa called someone and she told me that the case was to be reopened because they had received my fax and would look at the new evidenceM&T CLAIMED THERE WERE NO NEW FACTS IN THE CASE SO THE CASE WAS AGAIN DENIEDI truly believe the case was never looked atOnly after I was convinced that the case had not been looked at, did I write a letter to M&T'S Corporate OfficesI never heard from themSo I then contacted the Revdex.comI do not appreciate MsMcCarty's accusations Paragraph per her letterI have the entire time let it be known that I was overcharged as she statesThis was NOT A NEW COMPLAINTSee page May 20,emailsI have stated all along that I was quoted one price , yet charged anotherThis is illegal A merchant cannot quote you a agreed upon price and then charge your account something elseI DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE $CHARGED TO MY ACCOUNTI WAS QUOTED $THAT IS THE ONLY CHARGE I HAD AGREED TOMS [redacted] IS COMPLETELY OUT OF LINE SHE SUGGEST THAT I NEVER MENTIONED THE OVERCHARGEI AM TOTALLY OFFENDED OVER THIS STATEMENTIF M&T LOOKED AT THE CASE, THEY WOULD SEE THAT I HAD ALWAYS MADE IT A FACT THAT I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THIS CHARGEI EXPECT AN APOLOGY FOR THIS STATEMENTIT WAS TOTALLY UNCALLED FORI DO NOT WANT ANYTHING FROM ANYONE OTHER THEN WHAT IS MINE [redacted] did not even activate the switch until days after I paid for the serviceThe switch should have been done on May 21, It was not done until May 30, See page Areas I am following It states Nottingham .Md It was not created by [redacted] until May I clearly did not receive the service I paid for I also was supposed to received the leads on my cell phone I did not ever get leads other then on the site I have done everything in my power to try and correct this situationI had written many emails, many many calls to [redacted] No one would return the call See pages 14- This is the bottom line [redacted] charged me for zip code leadsI clearly told Ms [redacted] that I wanted only ONE ZIP CODE I was being charged for two I was not receiving the leads for The alerts were to have gone to my cellThey never didI did not have any advertisement for on my site unit it was created by [redacted] on May 30, No one from [redacted] would answer any of my calls, or emails M&T has not been any help in clearing this matter as wellIt is ILLEGAL FOR ANY MERCHANT TO TAKE WHAT THEM WANT OUT OF A CLIENT'S BANKING ACCOUNTI agreed to one charge and [redacted] decides on their own to just take what them wanted I feel that I have met the burden of proof in my caseI further believe I am entitled to the refund of my moneyRegards, [redacted]
