Review: In contacted my Home Warranty company on 7/8/16 about a leaking hot water heater. A couple business days later they sent out a contractor, Mundin Plumbing to look at the water heater. At that time Mundin condemned the water heater and the Home Warranty company authorized a new unit. Mundin ordered a 75 gallon replacement unit but that was denied by the Home Warranty company. After a couple more days the Home Warranty authorized the contractor, Mundin to do the work. Originally Mundin estimated it would cost between $200 to $500 for the repair. Ten days later Mundin called to schedule the installation and showed up on 7/19/16 to do the work. During the install the contractor stated that there would be a $450 piping modification fee and the grand total of the work was $570 to include a $65 disposal fee and $55 water fee. The pipping modifications done my Mundin consisted of them cutting the PVC line for the hot and cold water and installing two flexible hoses, one including a shutoff valve, which took about 30 minutes to complete. Charging $450 dollars for 30 minutes of work and providing inferior parts compared to the solid metal piping that was on the original unit is a ripe off. In disputing the charges with both the Home Warranty company and Mundin there was nothing either the Home Warranty company or Mundin was willing to do to fix this situation. My issues is charging $450 for 30 minutes of work that was inferior to the original plumbing work that was on the original water heater is not right. Charges for services should be proportionate to the actual labor and Mundin should not be subsidizing their other expenses on the backs of their customers. The pricing is not fair and should be adjusted.Desired Settlement: The $450 piping modification fee should be lower based on the actual labor and the inferior parts that were provided. This charge should be lowered and a refund issued for overcharging me by at least $250.

Revdex.com spoke with a representative from the business who provided the following response: The company provided a diagnosis to the warranty company. Condemning the water heater and providing a new one was done at the warranty company's discretion, and the time associated with that was due to the warranty company and should be addressed with them. The size of the water heater the warranty company approved was also at their discretion, as the size of the customer's previous water heater is one that is no longer made. The warranty company covered the water heater itself and basic installation. This did not include the modification required, or the water or disposal of the old hot water heater. The modification was required as a result of new government regulations that require certain standards. In order to be up to code properly, the modification was required. The parts used were not inferior, but were professional parts purchased from a plumbing supply store. The work did take longer than half an hour, and part of the reason for the charge was the limited access to move the new hot water heater as it was located in the basement. The modification was explained to the customer ahead of time, and the customer agreed to the charges, and signed an authorization for the charges. The customer has not called the business to express dissatisfaction with the amount charged. The business is willing to speak with the customer in more detail about the charges and work with him on the charges, but they have not heard from him directly in order to do so.
Review: On 2/22/2016 they came to my house to diag. a water heater problem. They were working through my warranty company [redacted]. They showed up 5 hours late and within 20 min. I was told I needed a new water heater. The next day when I called AHS about my claim I was told the claim was declined due to Mundin Plumbing told them the unit was all apart and a proper diag. could not be done, and I also had electrical problems. They further more wanted to charge me 300.00 to do the repairs. On 2/22/2016 The Mundin Tech told me the tank was clogged and he could not drain it to replace the heating elements and would need a new water heater. That was all I was told. I repaired the water heater myself on 2/23/2016 by draining the tank and replacing the heater elements. this company as caused a problem with my warranty I have and also tried to take advantage of me. And they will not answer my calls or return my calls.Desired Settlement: I have resolved my problem. However this company has a lot to learn when it come to doing there job.
