Review: May 29, 2011 I purchased a pool from Namco in [redacted] This past winter I noticed a stream of ice coming from the pool indicating a leak. I purchased a new liner for the pool and had a company come in to install it & they couldn't as when they took the old liner out they noticed where the leak was the pool wall had rusted and there was clusters of holes in the wall. They said the wall would not hold up to the pressure of the water. I went back to Namco & they said I would have to contact the manufacturer who was [redacted] & Namco no longer deals with them. So I emailed [redacted] several times & all they are willing to do is give me 70% off replacement parts. The pool is so defective it can not be repaired it needs to be replaced by a new pool. So I went back to Namco & all they are willing to do is give me a discounted price on a new pool. I do not trust Namco's quality and do not want a new pool from them I want a refund of the purchase price I paid for this pool because it is so defective.Desired Settlement: A full refund of the purchase price of the pool as a pool should last 10 - 20 years not 3.

Review: In 2007 I purchased a pool from Namco with a 30 year warranty on the pool wall from the manufacturer, [redacted]. Last winter, January 2013, I noticed that the pool was leaking. I contacted Namco and they eventually sent a new wall and liner. The pool wall had rusted/rotted in a fairly large section which caused the leak. The new wall and liner (I had to purchase the correct liner, the one they sent did not fit properly) were installed in June 2013. This winter, March 2014, I again noticed the pool wall leaking, in a completely different area than before. I immediately contacted Namco. They stated to call back in April and set up a time for a rep, [redacted], to come to the property to look at the problem. [redacted] came out on April 16th, took photos (I had already sent photos, as well) and asked my husband to drain the pool down to a foot, pull back the liner and take pictures of the interior part of the wall. He stated he would call us on Monday or Tuesday of the following week to let us know what was going to happen. My husband did what was asked and the pictures were emailed to [redacted] at Namco. The wall was completely rusted/rotted just like before. It has been over 2 months and I have not gotten a satisfactory resolution to this issue despite leaving numerous voicemails and email messages for [redacted]. The wall is less than a year old, they need to replace it and the liner and should pay for the water and labor to put up another pool.Desired Settlement: Since I have had 2 pool walls from Namco leak in a 7 year period, I have to presume their product is junk. I would like a refund of the initial pool cost, the cost of the liner and additional water and labor costs I had to and will have to incur yet again for another pool to be installed.

We are in receipt of the complaint filed by the above referenced customer. Following a site inspection performed last month we had determined that we would replace the customer's wall at no charge for the sake of customer relations. On June 19th our carrier made several attempts to deliver the wall to the customer, but the delivery was ultimately refused. At this point we feel we have already gone above and beyond what is typically covered under warranty; the wall is still available should the customer still want this solution. Best regards, NAMCO, LLC Customer Service

Response:

I received a call on June 19th from the company attempting to deliver the wall & liner when they were already at my home. No one was home to inspect and accept the products, that is why the delivery was refused. I never got a call in advance and when they attempted to deliver the other replacement wall for the first time last year, it was damaged. They are also trying to give me an unacceptable liner. I will accept the wall and the appropriate liner ONLY. I had originally paid extra for the [redacted] liner, they are trying to give me a subpar over the wall liner which I do not want and will not accept. I do not feel that I should have to settle for a liner that is not the original. So, if they are willing to give me the products I originally purchased and coordinate with me an acceptable delivery date and time when someone can inspect the items then I will accept their offer.

I am rejecting this response because:

Please refer to complaint #[redacted]. I did not realize by my choosing I accept the company's offer that it would close the complaint. I will accept their offer under the conditions noted only and I will need them to also replace parts of the pool that have rotted from the rust in order to properly re-assemble the pool. The upper and lower tracks. Also, they have not responded to the numerous phone messages that have been left to attempt to resolve this matter with the stipulations mentioned.

Review: I purchased a 21' aboveground pool last summer from Namco Pools. It was installed through Namco, by there subcontractor, [redacted]. I began the process of opening the pool on Friday, June13 2014.On Saturday, the pool liner began sliding down from under the rim into the pool. I immediately notified Namco in person the very same day. I can not get an answer from their corporate office as to when this issue will be rectified.Desired Settlement: I want my liner fixed immediately, so I can use my pool in this heat. I paid good money for this pool and installation last summer, and should not have to suffer because of faulty installation issues.

Review: Purchased a new pool on 2/8/14, after 1 season when I uncovered the pool there was damage to the pool wall and the skimmer. Pool clearly still under warranty plus I purchased and additional warranty through the store. I'm being told that winter damage is not covered only damage in the summer. Will not replace any of the damaged items.Desired Settlement: I would like the items replaced or repaired. I will probably have an outside company attempt to repair the pool in which case I would like a reimbursement amount for this.

Review: I purchased a pool for my daughter as a gift and have had several complaints with the servcie of this company. I was promised calls and feedback with regards to some of our concerns and have received nothing in return. My daughter attempted to contact the District Manager and Installation Manager to no avail. We received a call back yesterday with regards to wanting to return the pool and get a full refund and were told that we could not receive a refund as the shipment has already been made and the DM did not approve the return. This was not a small purchase and is considered an investment for our family. The boxes are all sitting in our garage with no response from anyone with regards to our ongoing concerns.

Review: On Sunday April 28th, We visited the Namco website and there was an advertisement for the 24ft 52" Contempera pool w/Liner for $819.99 (Configured price; Contempera round pool$430.00 + Liner $389.99. So we decided to purchase with our debit master card totaling, $872.06.The card was charged and we received a confirmation number (XXXXXXXXXX) and 2 emails confirming our order. On Monday April 29th the price of the pool went up to $3,919.99.We then received an e-mail stating that the price($819.99) was an error after charging our card the $819.99 + Tax $52.07 equaling $872.06. We were informed through e-mail that we would be receiving a refund and they couldn't sell the pool due to "pricing issues". I then called customer service XXX-XXX-XXXX and they stated that myself and four other people ordered the same pool and would not be able to sell it at that price. I found them to be very rude and not willing to come to any solution or help. We checked the bank account and $872.06 was taken out and NOT put back in as of 4:30p.m. today.

We would like to get the pool at the advertised price of $819.99!

Review: My husband and I purchased a [redacted] pool from Namco in [redacted] on 6/9/2011. When we took the cover off this June we found substantial rust around the edge of the pool. My coresspondence with Namco ended with I could purchase new railings at a "pro-rated" price siting winter damage. No other pool in my neighborhood and most of them older than mine had such damage. Since then, pieces of the railing have fallen into the pool and recently my liner has been damaged and the pool will not hold water. I don't feel I should pay for a new pool which it appears I will have to do. I am contacting the pool manufacturer, Namco, "on your Side" ([redacted]) and "The Bottom Line" ([redacted]) by phone calls, emails and a letter to all parties.Desired Settlement: new Pool

We are in receipt of your correspondence concerning the complaint filed by the above referenced customer. [redacted] sent correspondence to us on June 20th of this year indicating a rust issue with her swimming pool that was originally purchased in 2011. In a letter dated June 20, 2014 we explain that we processed the claim using the same criteria as the manufacturer. The warranty is pro-rated and its guidelines provide for replacement components on a pro-rated basis depending on the pool model and the original date of purchase. The adjusted prices on the quote would be the consumer’s responsibility. No where in this letter did we indicate the issue was weather related. In the correspondence received from your office [redacted] had asked for a brand new pool to be provided at no cost to her. Unfortunately that request we must respectfully decline. The quote provided details the replacement components needed – which is not a brand new pool in its entirety. As indicated on the letter, [redacted] would bring the quote into the store for processing. Regards, NAMCO Customer Service

Review: I purchased a pool with installation from Namco's [redacted] store on 5/9/15. It took 5 weeks for installers to begin. There were missing parts and I had to retrieve them from the store. I was given the wrong parts. The store ordered an entire new filter box... which also had the wrong parts. The employees at the [redacted] store, in the absence of the general store manager (who was on vacation during prime pool season!), were unable to resolve the issue. I ordered the parts myself from an outside retailer (with NO help from Namco).

July 4th weekend, 2 months from purchase date, I finally had the pool completely installed. The filter was completed but then the skimmer basket cracked when filter was turned on. ANOTHER trip to [redacted] store to retrieve a replacement part. The employee said he did not have one in the store, when there was one right there visible.

I have contacted the corporate office who responded with a letter asking for receipts for parts I purchased. I still have not received reimbursement for parts. It has been 2 weeks since submitting the receipts.Desired Settlement: I am requesting a refund for parts immediately. Namco should refund in a more timely manner. They should give customer service training to their store employees. They should produce products of better quality.

Review: I purchased a pool from Namco Pools online http://www.namcopool.com/. After a month of very limited info I placed a call to there customer service and was told the pool was shipped when I asked for tracking info I was placed on hold and told they would call me back by the end of business this was on a Thursday. I never received a call back so I call in on Friday morning and was told they were working on getting me more info and that they would call back after 5 hours I called again and was told they were having a meeting about my case and would call back by the end of the day. I called back just before 5 PM EST and got there store closed message. I called back on Monday morning and waited over 2 hours just to speak to a person. I purchased this pool for nearly $4000 over a month ago.... After checking online it appears that I am not the only one that has had issues with this company taking there money and never getting there products. Buyer BEWARE stay away from this company horrible customer service plus you are just giving them money for nothing.

The customer purchased his pool during a time where we were running a promotion for a free package with the purchase of a pool.

When the customer called our office inquiring about the status of his order we noticed that he had only added the pool to his cart and not the package. Instead of having the customer cancel and re-order it, which would put him at the end of the line, we decided to fulfill it manually. Unfortunately this manual process required some additional steps which in turn delayed the order by a few days.

The customer called in to our office again and wanted to cancel. He was refunded $3896.91 on June 27 per his request. Therefore this matter can be considered closed. Please contact me should you have any further questions.

Sincerely,

NAMCO, LLC Customer Service Manager

Review: On August 5, 2012, my husband and I purchased an above ground pool from NAMCO, [redacted] NJ 07730. We were swayed to purchase at season's end because of the sale price and the promised $750.00 free complete pool package which we would be entitled to pick up in the spring of 2013 and which would include a filter, cover, chemicals, and a ladder among other things. When my husband went to pick up our package on May 2, 2013, he was told that the store was not honoring the coupon. They also informed us that the coupon was for 50% off the complete pool package up to $750 and was not a free $750 complete pool package as we were both told.Desired Settlement: We want the $750 complete pool package that we were promised on August 5, 2012 including ladder, chemicals, filter, vacuum, and cover.

Review: On 3/24/13, PRIOR TO BANKRUPTCY & GOING OUT OF BUSINESS, I purchased a pool from NAMCO through Branch Brook in Hazlet, NJ. I purchased the package with installation for $3,730.82. Their installers,YES Contractors, were unable to give us a date to install the pool before the end of May, 2 months later. Branch Brook advised that they had been having issues with YES and would try to get us an earlier date. After calling & going to the store directly numerous times, they were unable to do so. They refunded us the cost of the installation and we hired an outside contractor to install the pool. Our pool was delivered to our house 3 weeks later and installed in the middle of April. Once the pool was installed and filled I found 2 holes in the wall of the pool. I contacted the manufacturer of the pool and send photos to them. The manufacturer of the pool said that this was not a defect but in fact the wall was damaged and told us to contact our dealer. I called NAMCO to discuss. I sent photos and an explanation of what happened to Branch Brook who then forwarded everything to their Home Office in Connecticut. I finally heard back from the home office about a week later, and only because I contacted them to find out what was going on, and they admitted that the wall was delivered to me damaged. They advised they will send me a new pool wall, but it will be a different color and style. They also advised that they will not send me a new liner because I did not use their installer. They advised that if I used their installer they never would have installed it with the damaged wall. It is now May 28th and I still do not have the new wall. I wote to the bank to exercise my right to not pay our bill as we we received a damaged product and they are not willing to fix the issue but was denied and I am still expected to pay for a damaged product. I call headquarters and they do not answer, they do not return calls or leave you on hold and the phone hangs up automatically if left on hold for more than 30 minute

RE: Case # 84119164: [redacted]

I am in receipt of the complaint filed by the above referenced customer.

[redacted] called into our office on April, 29 2013 regarding the damage sustained to his pool wall. We were very sorry to hear that he had issues with one of our products so shortly after having it installed. Unfortunately the only wall we had in stock in his size was slightly different in color. To make up for this difference, and to offer an apology, we offered this wall to Mr. [redacted] free of charge. The customer declined our offer for a new wall and instead decided to go to the manufacturer of the pool for assistance.

A week later Mr. [redacted] called stating that the manufacturer was not willing to help him and he inquired if our original offer still stood. We willingly shipped the wall to one of our stores so the customer could pick it up at his convenience. We informed the customer that we cannot cover the cost of a new liner, or labor to re-install it because he had originally declined our installation services when getting his pool put up.

Mr. [redacted] has since picked up his wall from our Brick, NJ location and the situation is rectified. Feel free to reach out to me directly should you have any questions regarding this matter. (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

Sincerely,

NAMCO, LLC Customer Service Manager

Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2013/06/09) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

The new wall as final settlement in this matter is unsatisfactory as providing us a new wall free of charge is not settling the matter. First providing us with a new wall is the proper thing to do and there never should be a charge, they are basically replacing a damaged product as any company should do. We should also have been provided with the same exact wall that we ordered, not one in a different color. If we wanted the different color, we would have bought that originally.

Secondly, the new wall should have been delivered to our home just as the original one was. We should not have had to drive all the way to the Brick location to pick it up being that it was not our fault or the installers fault that the original wall was delivered to our home damaged.

The respondent also has not addressed the overall quality of the pool. The vertical supports do not touch the wall in some areas, its bulging in other areas and the vertical supports are bending in other areas. The pool is level on the ground so it is craftmanship of the pool that is unsatisfactory. The quality of the pool is extremely poor for the cost of this product.

We feel the liner should also be replaced being that it now damaged as well. We did not outright decline their installation services, we were left with no choice but to use another installer. We called right away after purchase of the pool to get a date for installation, as our home and yard were badly damaged by Hurricane Sandy and we needed to get moving with the repairs and installng the pool needed to be done first. We were given a date more than 2 months out. We went to the Hazlet store where the pool was purchased and they advised they were having problems with thier installer and tried to get us a different date as they advised the 2 months was unacceptable to them as well. After weeks of us calling and going to the store with no resolution, they advised us to use a different installer if we could get an earlier date and would be happy to refund our installation fee. We were then refunded our installation fee as they were unable to resolve the late installation date.

Please note that we did not pick up the new pool wall as final settlement of this issue. We were told that it was the new wall in a different color or it was nothing. We took the new wall as partial settlement as we felt this issue was still unresolved completely and the new wall was the least that should be provided. We feel that the new liner and installation fee would be an acceptable settlement.

Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2013/06/24) */

Dear Revdex.com

We have done our best to help Mr. [redacted]. The damage to the pool wall no one knows how it happen. We have a installation program that we offer to all our customers in NJ Mr. [redacted] had purchase a installation and because of the delays over the spring with weather issues he didn't want to wait. We refunded him his money for the installation and he contacted and hired a outside group to do the install. To date we still don't know who did the install. Mr [redacted] has questioned the integrity of the pool we sell thousands of these pools with out problems. We for the sake of customer relations replaced the wall for Mr. [redacted] His request to have us do the labor was are declining.

Review: Purchased a pool and did not have it installed until end of Aug 2014, so it got very little use that year. I paid Namco to install the pool. Over the winter the liner ripped, water leaked out, and the walls collapsed and buckled. A family member pointed out that the installer missed a very important step. Sand was not banked against the wall to form a cove. Per the Installation Manual, “this will prevent the liner from creeping under the wall, and it will also protect the liner from any metal edges of the pool framework. THIS STEP IS NOT OPTIONAL, IT MUST BE DONE.” Missing this required step lead to the liner being ripped. I sent Namco an email with pictures and did not get a response for about two weeks. I began calling and this where the frustration really began – long hold times, dropped calls, not being called back, being told that supervisors were always in meetings. After several weeks, Namco said that they would install the pool as a courtesy but they would not cover the cost of a new pool. That was not acceptable. Because it was already June and the pool season in [redacted] is short, I had no choice but to tear down the pool and purchase a new pool (from a different company).Desired Settlement: Full Refund

Review: I am disputing a charge of $5,701.00 of the attached receipt. I called Namco multiple times regarding my pool which is crooked, sinking, and moved, which was not installed properly. In addition the coping on the top moved because of the pool movement. This is unstable & unsafe, and the side walls are buckling. I had a pool contractor come to my house too install a deck around the pool and he said the pool needs to be taken down and reinstalled before a deck can be constructed, and so no one gets hurt from the unstable pool. It is more than 2 inches off on the water level on one side. I called the state of [redacted] and was told Namco could not install pools and longer. I am disputing the charge of $2,450.00 to take down the pool plus $2,450.00 to have it reinstalled properly along with the water charge of $802.00 due to the fact I have a well and cannot supply water. I already paid $802.00 when the pool was first installed. If the total of the above charge $5,701.00 is not credited to my Namco account. I will have my attorney begin legal action and recover addition damages. Due to the fact the pool is not safe.SincerelyDesired Settlement: Credit My Namco credit card for $5,701.00, and the issue will be resolved and I will have the pool taken down and put back up correctly as well as ordering a new truck load of water which is $802. for my size pool.

Review: purchased my pool on 7/2/12 along with a 3 year warranty. My pool liner has fallen apart, all along the seam. They refuse to replace as they say they cover if the seam pulls apart but not if it tears apart. there are large rips where the liner seam is and it just disintegrating all along the seam. The sides of the pool are buckling at the bottom and there is one crease. The warranty company division of Namco said no we aren't covering. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told " you can leave a message but they will tell you the same thing. " They refuse to return my calls. I have called the Customer service department everyday for 7 days and no one answers the phone. I have mailed in photos and description of damage.

Review: We purchased a new pool, & pool liner from Namco in May 2014. After 1 month, the pool liner has a leak.To make a long story short: Customer service at the warranty department at Namco was unhelpful and tried to brush me off the phone until I escalated my issue to a manager named [redacted]. She gave me the email address for warranty and requested that I email pictures & our information. Included in my email was a request that Namco confirm receipt of my email, which they never did. I followed up a few days later and customer service relayed that [redacted] said they were still reviewing my claim & when review was complete I would receive a letter in the mail. The following day my relative with the same last name received a letter from Namco advising of the coverage on THEIR claim with MY pool liner. (my relative purchased their liner years before and it is not the same pool liner as ours.) The claim was opened to the wrong person. The letter from Namco stated they would only offer a replacement for the 1 month old defective liner since we did not use a Namco installer initially, & does not cover additional costs to be incurred such as labor to reinstall the liner, draining the pool, & refilling the pool with approximately $600 of pool water. Additionally, the pool liner voucher does not have my name or address, so I cannot use it. I mailed a Certified letter to [redacted], CEO of Namco, confirmed receipt, and now 2 weeks later, I have not been contacted. I have tried contacting warranty to no avail. I called Namco again and spoke with [redacted] and asked to be transferred to [redacted] or his secretary, or provide me with a direct phone number and she refused. She told me she would not give me his number or transfer me and when I asked to speak with a manager who could do it, she told me no one will do it. I insisted she put a manager on the phone and she put me on hold. I waited on hold for as long as possible & now I am contacting the Revdex.com in hopes the situation can be rectified.Desired Settlement: I would like someone of authority to contact me to discuss a resolution that is fair to both parties. While we did not use a Namco installer, and according to Namco we are not entitled to labor and water fees, there is clearly a manufacturing defect when a liner fails within 1 month that may allow us additional reimbursement.
