Thank you for forwarding this correspondence to our office.NJM reviewed [redacted] correspondence and file. We responded to him directly via mail on 9/30/16.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:I HAVE LOST FAITH IN NJM. THEY HAVE HAD 4 MONTHS TO INVESTIGATE MY CLAIM. I HAVE COOPERATED AND PUT MYSELF OUT RETRIEVING DOCUMENTATION, RECEIPTS, BANKING STATEMENTS, TAX RETURNS, AN ABSURD AMOUNT OF INFORMATION, BUT I DID IT AND SPENT WEEKS COLLECTING IT ALL. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THIS DAY HAVE BEEN TOLD WHAT THEY ARE EXACTLY LOOKING FOR, IF IT IS SOMETHING SPECIFIC OR JUST MY GENERAL SPENDING HABITS. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN UPFRONT OR HONEST FROM THE BEGINNING, I WAS TOLD THAT [redacted] WAS A VIDEO GAME EXPERT BY [redacted] WHO ALSO STATED THAT LIST OF GAMES AND SYSTEMS WERE NOT IN HIS REALM OF EXPERTISE, HOW TO VALUE THEM, HE THEN WOULD BE IN CHARGE OF THE HOME RESTORATION. and [redacted] THE CONTENT PORTION. NJM HIRED [redacted] TO DO THE CLEANING, SINCE MY HOUSE WAS CONTAMINATED WITH FECES, MY ENTIRE BASEMENT AS WELL AS MY LAUNDRY ROOM, POWDER ROOM, AND FAMILY ROOM. I WAS ASSURED THAT THEY WERE THE EXPERTS AND WHATEVER THEY NEEDED TO DO WOULD BE COVERED. THEY LEFT MY HOUSE WITH 1 FOOT HOLES IN MY WALLS, DOORS DISCARDED TO MY BATHROOM AND TO MY FINISHED BASEMENT, THE STENCH OF RAW SAGE THROUGHOUT MY HOUSE, AS THEY LEFT 4 INDUSTRIAL TRASH BAGS FILLED WITH MY BELONGINGS AND WET CLOTHING SOAKED IN SEWER WATER IN THOSE BAGS. THEY ALSO DISCARDED MY BELONGINGS IN A FULL DUMPSTER, AND DID NOT MAKE AN INVENTORY OF WHAT WAS THROWN AWAY. AND WHEN THE DUMPSTER WAS FULL, THEY LEFT AND NEVER CAME BACK TO RETRIEVE THE GARBAGE THAT COULD NOT FIT IN THE DUMPSTER.WEEKS PAST AND I CALLED THE COMPANY TO FIND OUT WHEN THEY WERE RETURNING. THEY DIDN'T HAVE ME ON THE LIST. I CALLED [redacted] AND TOLD HIM THAT I WAS HIRING A DIFFERENT COMPANY BECAUSE [redacted] DID NOT RESPOND TO MY PHONE CALLS. IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 4 MONTHS, I AM LIVING IN HORRENDOUS CONDITIONS, NJM REFUSES TO ALLOW ANY PROMISE OF PAYMENT FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION SO THAT MY CONTRACTOR CAN BEGIN WORKING ON MY HOME. THE ONLY CORRESPONDENCE I RECEIVE FROM THEM IS THAT THE INVESTIGATION IS STILL OPEN. iF THERE IS SOMETHING THAT THEY REQUIRE FROM ME THEY NEED TO INFORM ME. I SATISFIED THEIR ATTORNEY WHEN I HAD MY SWORN STATEMENT. HE TOLD ME HE DIDN'T NEED TO SEE ANY FURTHER DOCUMENTS. HE JUST ASKED THAT I MAKE COPIES OF ALL OF THE ORIGINAL RECEIPTS THAT HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO VIEW, AT MY CONVENIENCE. I LEFT HIS OFFICE CONFIDENT THAT WHATEVER THEY WERE QUESTIONING HAD BEEN RESOLVED. I CALLED NJM THE FOLLOWING MORNING TO ASK THEM TO EXPEDITE THE RESTORATION, THAT I COMPLETED EVERYTHING REQUESTED OF ME. THEN I RECEIVE A VOICE MAIL FROM THEIR ATTORNEYS SECRETARY, STATING I KNOW YOU WERE HERE YESTERDAY, AND YOU WERE TOLD THAT ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS YOU HAD BROUGHT IN WERE NOT NEEDED. BUT NOW THE INSURANCE COMPANY WOULD LIKE ALL OF THOSE DOCUMENTS CAN YOU MAKE COPIES AND BRING THEM BACK TO THE OFFICE. AND I DID. I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH ANOTHER FORM LETTER. I WANT MY HOME TO BE RESTORED IT IS AFFECTING MY FAMILIES QUALITY OF LIFE, OUR ABILITY TO ENTERTAIN, AND HOST THE HOLIDAYS FOR MY FAMILY WHICH I DO EVERY YEAR. SO AGAIN NO, I REJECT THEIR RESPONSE.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
I never have got response from the NJM, the company that I am complaining.
Regards,
[redacted]

I am at my wits end. I have been cooperative, and have submitted all documentation that was asked of me. I need to get my house restored, as the cold weather approaches there is holes in wall leading to my unheated garage, my gas and electric bill was over 2000.00 and this is not even winter yet, I have an 85 year old aunt who is in failing health, her husband, my uncle has passed and she has been living in Florida for the past 20 something years. As she ages and requires assistance with her activities of daily living, she has asked if she can come stay with me. I am a RN, and have taken care of all of my elderly aunts and uncles. I am extremely close to my family, and although this is not the problem of njm insurance I am very concerned for her staying in my home in the condition it is in. I feel like I am being bullied by this company and forced to wait patiently as I jump through hoops to do as they request, and then wait again. This is completely unfair.
Any help from the Revdex.com is so very appreciated.
Were you able to open the document? I did fax it to the number I have on file for you. I also sent the latest reply from NJM.
Please do not hesitate to call me, or email me, if you require any additional information. I have saved every letter  and correspondence between njm and myself.
I also am filing an official complaint with NJ DOBI

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: NJM has been dragging there feet for the last 7 months with this claim. The public needs to be aware of what NJM puts the consumer thru.  They send people to my home who low ball the work that needs to be done or want to put bandaids on things just to close this claim. I was even told if the cabinets do not exactly fit properly against my existing backsplash that the contractor ([redacted] would use more grout to meet countertop. This to me is shorty work.  At one point they had a gentleman come to my home give a estimate and then he sent me letter saying my adjuster agreed at quote that I was to sign "proof of loss". When contacting my adjuster he received no estimate and did not agree to anything NJM adjuster had stated.  This to me is underhanded. I am very upset by this whole situation and by the way it has been handled. Such as the incident with my mold issue in my attic, I will not be taken advantage of again. It has taken 7 months and a monepercentage of what I am suppose to receive from NJM, because I had to hire a adjuster to make sure I do not get played the fool again.

I am rejecting this response because:
It is not a response.  It is legal jargon that doesn't address my concerns. If NJM reaches out to me and does what I ask I will accept the response. If NJM responds accordingly and  satisfactorily I will not persue legal actions

Review: In January 2013, I contacted NJM insurance company for an auto insurance policy. The policy I signed up for had above the NJ standards for collision, property, rental and bodily injury. In December 2013, they sent me a renewal package to which was returned via [redacted] mail. There were no changes that I made to my policy. I had $50.00 for rental coverage in which they changed on there on to $20.00. I called to dispute this problem and they said that I signed up for 20.00, but the documentation that I signed says otherwise and they refuse to fix their mistake now that I have been involved in an accident. They changed the contract to benefit themselves without notifying me of these changes. They even told me that I received a copy of my policy, but on my declaration page, my rental coverage is not displayed, thus I would not be able to see that they changed it. Therefore, I would not know.Desired Settlement: I request that they honor the original contract that I signed up for that they failed to adhere to.

Regards,

Review: My sister's car was hit by another vehicle last year. She, my father, and I currently reside in the same residence. Late last year NJMI sent a letter to my father to file a claim against my auto insurance under the "resident relative" provision of New Jersey law. The letter was poorly written for the following reasons: 1) no definition was provided for the term "resident relative". 2) No reference was provided to the New Jersey statute(s) that authorize NJMI to file a claim against my insurance. I requested information about what statute provides NJMI the authority to file a claim against my insurance. The Senior Claim Representative, Catherine B[redacted], consistently provided me **incorrect** information about New Jersey law. I pointed this out several times, only to receive the same incorrect information in response. I later spoke with Catherine's supervisor, Kathleen W[redacted] who said that the letter that my father received was NJMI's standard concurrency claim letter.

An introductory legal research & writing course will teach its students to use definitions for unfamiliar terms and/or cite statutes when writing legal demand letters. NJMI did neither, and this is apparently their standard letter. As a result, I spent several hours researching the law because NJMI consistently provided inaccurate information to me. I could not disregard them because doing so would slow down the claim process for my sister.

I have attempted to communicate with NJMI several times by email and phone about this issue and am not getting any forward progress.Desired Settlement: First, NJMI must change their letter to adhere to standard practices regarding the drafting of legal demand letters. They must provide a definition in their letter for the term "resident relative". Additionally, they must cite the New Jersey statute that provides them the authority to file concurrency claims.

I also sent these items to NJMI via email:

1. I would like the packet of information mentioned regarding [redacted] insurance law.

2. I understand that there may be limits to what you can disclose, but I would like to know a little more about what was discussed with Catherine Bi[redacted] I expressed in precise detail my grievances with her actions. May I at least know that she received a copy of my

grievances or that these were verbally mentioned to her?

3. NJMI made the process of closing out this convcurrency claim excessively long and very frustrating. I believe NJMI ought to compensate me for the time and frustration that I endured. Someone must contact me about this.

Review: I was involved in an auto accident on Dec 21 2013. My car was considered totaled according to New Jersey Manufacturers. My car was tolled to Dependable Motors on Route 27 in Somerset NJ. I went to clean out my belongings and had the plates removed, however this was New Years Eve, and the place was just ready to close, however a nice man in their tow truck removed the plates from me. Nothing was said to me that day that I had to sign a release allowing New Jersey Manufacturers to take the car. Today Fri 01/03/2014 [redacted] my representative called me to say that they could not get the car on 01/02/2014 because I had not signed a release. Well on 01/02/2014. We had a snowstorm, and also a state a emergency that went in to Fri morning, now New Jersey Manufacturers wants to deduct $60.00 from my settlement check, being they could not take the car as promised. Even Dependable Motors thinks its terrible that even a couple a days later, and not my fault because of a storm and a state of emergency that I should be deducted $60.00. I have been with New Jersey Manufacturers for many years, I also have my home insured with them, and this is how they treat me. I am 82 years old, and need all the monies I can get. I am also on Food Stamps. So New Jersey Manufacturers sure doesn't care about me. I am glad when this is all said and done I will not be buying a new or used car, and will no longer have car insurance with NJMDesired Settlement: I WANT MY SETTLEMENT CHECK JUST THE WAY I WAS PROMISED. AS I SAID ABOVE IT IS NOT MY FAULT THEIR WAS SNOWSTORM AND A STATE OF EMERGENCY THAT OUR GOVERNOR PUT IN PLACE FROM THUR NIGHT TO FRI MORNING. I KNOW I GOT A LETTER STATING HOW LONG THEY WERE GOING TO KEEP PAYING THE STORAGE, HOWEVER ACCORDING TO MY CONTRACT WVEN 3 DAYS OVER AND THE CONDITIONS OF NEW JERSEY WITH SNOW. ISHOULD NOT BE LIABLE AND PUNISHED FOR $60.00. THIS IS A DISGRACE!!!!

Response:

The consumer’s 2002 Saturn is insured by New Jersey Manufacturer's Insurance Company (“NJM”) under a personal automobile policy. On December 21, 2013, the consumer’s daughter (herein after referred to as “consumer”) contacted NJM and advised that the consumer had been involved in a motor vehicle accident with another Vehicle (Note: All communication regarding this claim has been with the consumer’s daughter). That same day, the claim was verified by the assigned NJM adjuster and an appraisal of the vehicle was then scheduled.

On December 27, 2013, the adjuster contacted the consumer and advised that the g} vehicle had been inspected and had been deemed a total loss. The consumer informed NIM = that she did not wish to keep the vehicle. In response, the adjuster instructed the consumer to have the Vehicle cleaned out. The adjuster also requested that the consumer contact her once ' this had been completed so that the vehicle could be picked-up by NJM.

Review: On July 23rd a smell of something burning was identified coming from my house's breaker box. PSE&G was called to inspect the premises and identified evidences of burned cables caused by a water leak coming from the external power cabling and recommended immediate action since there was a risk of fire. I turned off the main power, called an electrician immediately and New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance and opened claim number [redacted] I immediately shared all the information I had (including the cost of the service: U$ 3,550.00) with the NJM claim operator I spoke with and I put [redacted] from [redacted] in contact with the adjuster handling the emergency repair before he started working because I am not an expert in electricity and I was not sure about the NJ Code requirements. They discussed the scope of the repair beforehand and asked [redacted] to take pictures of everything and save the parts he replaced for future inspection, what he did. The inspection happened 3 days later when the adjuster (Daniel B[redacted] visited the premises but he only looked at the electric box parts. He didn’t ask to see the other parts such as meter, cables, etc.

Days later I received a check from NJM in the amount of $1,729.43 stating that only the electric box was covered. When I inquired about the other parts that caused the issue, Mr B[redacted] stated that “We only can pay for the replacement panel, not any part from above, as that wasn’t directly affected by the loss, but was the cause.” The explanation was illogical because the issue would soon happen again, if the root cause was not fixed. I also called Mr [redacted] from [redacted] to discuss NJM’s assessment with him and he stated that according to the NJ code, he had to replace everything to fix the root cause and pass the township inspection. After reviewing my home owner’s policy my conclusion is that NJM should have reimbursed me for the full repair, fully protecting my home. I wrote to their Claim Appeal dep and my requested was denied.Desired Settlement: I don’t agree with the decisions made and would like to kindly request Revdex.com to intervene and have NJM pay me for the entire amount that was paid for the repair of the electrical issue, an additional $1,820.57.

Thank you for your anticipated assistance in resolving my problem and I look forward to hearing back from you. Please contact me in case of any questions or requests for information.

Review: Company refuses to cancel an auto policy without proof of sale of vehicles. This policy belonged to my Dad who died on 1/12/15 (I am the executrix of his estate). Today (5/5/15) I received a bill for renewal of the policy. The auto policy was allowed to expire and OF COURSE we are not renewing it (we no longer own the vehicles). I sent both a request for cancellation and the surrogates letter to the company on 4/23/15. Now they want proof of sale for the vehicles. Vehicles were sold by a cash transaction and there is no "proof of sale". I just want the policy cancelled without being billed to the present date.Desired Settlement: Cancel the policy without more hassles and don't bill me!

Review: On December 30, I contacted New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance (NJM) about damage to my bathroom floor, as they are the providers of my home insurance. I went to step on a tile and found my foot had gone straight through into the crawl space underneath. Upon further examination, it was determined that rot had set in on a portion of the plywood beneath the tile, as well as on one of the beams supporting the floor. My wife and I had no idea this was going on. We'd moved into the house 5 years ago and had both a licensed home inspector AND an inspector from NJM look through the house and no one saw that any damage had been occurring beneath our floor. As is stated in our policy, hidden damage is covered.

NJM then performed its own assessment of the damage and declared that it was the cause of repeated seepage of water from the shower to the floor, which is NOT covered by the policy. Furthermore, they state that we, the homeowners, knew of the damage being done to our floor, which is incorrect. We had no idea this was occurring until AFTER I had stepped through the floor. NJM is refusing to honor the coverage for which we pay.

They have been unresponsive. No one returns our calls or emails without constant prodding. We are being ignored and this needs to be resolved immediately.Desired Settlement: I would like New Jersey Manufacturers to honor the coverage my wife and I pay for and to pay for the repair of our bathroom that was caused by hidden damage, which is covered by our policy.
