I would like to warn everyone that this is horrible insuranceMy insurance lapsed on April 8,(which I wanted)I called the first week of April to make sure it would cancel and that nothing would be taking out of my account and was assured it would cancel and nothing would be taken out of my accountAfter doing what I was supposed to do, they still took the amount out of my accuntI have fought for two weeks now to get my money returned to my account to no avail They sure didn't have a problem taking the premium out, but I can not get it refundedThey are just making it so difficult I would never recommend this company

My husband and I have been customers for yearsWe have term life insurance with themI have always paid my premiums every month never lateWell today I received a letter from them saying that our insurance had lapsedI call them and the 1st lady I talked with kept telling me that I skipped payments and the whole time I was looking at my checking account and they had cashed the checksI told her this and she wanted me to mail them my bank statementsI told her no way that I need to talk to someone higher up than her, so after being on hold for several minutes I talked to another lady which preceded to tell me the same thingBut after I was very persistent she decided to look at it closerWhat had happen was my policy had reach its anniversary date and the premiums had increase by and they were holding the check until I paid itBut the paper that they sent to me saying it had lapsed wanted me to pay on each policyIt was a total messShe did say it was their fault bc the statement they sent me didn't have the increase on itBut she wasn't very apologetic about itSo I guess after all of these years I will be shopping for life insuranceThey need to teach their employees how to comucate and how to figure things outI was on the phone for almost an hourI would never recommend AIGLook somewhere else

Company responds "As stated In our July 29, letter, a proper detailed response to his concerns would Include specific policy related data and personally Identifiable Information. " Why would I have a policy with this company????????? That is why I reported the high pressure sales tactics via spam? Why would I provide the company that is spamming me with more information? All the information that is required was provided to the Revdex.com in the complaint including my email addressThey can not fall back on the Privacy Act as far as responses to the Revdex.com as it does not apply in this complaintI do NOT have an AIG accountThey would like me to have an AIG account but based on their high pressure tactics via spamming and their evasiveness in providing a public response to the Revdex.com I would never ever have an AIG account!

AIG Consumer Insurance
American General Life Insurance

My husband took out a life insurance claim throughout NYSUT while employed by SUNY college. After he retired he still paid out on his claim. My husband died and I the designee was then redirected to Mercer Consumer 12421 Meredith Drive in Urbandale IA.
They asked for and received an original copy of my husband's death certificate together with the corresponding forms filled out at the direction of one of their employees. They received this information because I have the proof of an overnight delivery.
I never got any verification in writing or by email that this was successful only that it would take some time to process this information. Once this was accomplished, I was told by the representative that it would be sent to Us Life AIG. I never received any verification other than verbal that it would be sent to AIG. I was left with no paper trail of the information being sent no corresponding numbers and told that it would all be accomplished with his social security # . I had to beg for the proper certificate number at MERCER. They also spelled my name wrong on the original and only paper work which was on the form I had to fill out (though I corrected in in the paper work). When I asked for verification that it was in the hands of AIG I was told that they would not provide me with any such document. I was told to just sit tight and wait. First I was told it would be deposited in some bank account of their choosing and that I could then withdraw it. Then they told me that I would just have to wait until AIG contacted me. I was told it could take a week or 2, then I was told it could take a month or two, then I was told it cold take up to 6 months to process. I had to beg for a phone number for AIG TO find out what happened to my husbands death certificate and the paper work MERCER sent out. Mercer said they do not provide any assurance that the paper work was sent out or on what date and that I would just have to wait and keep calling AIG. They also said that "even though it was going to "THEIR processing department that it was a SEPARATE company and that they would no longer be available to help me. I'd just have to wait. When I asked how I ever know what bank they deposited my money in they again said that it was a separate business and that I'd just have to find out about it myself. I have know way of knowing if it was lost or ever got to AIG if there was not some sort of corresponding number that I could refer to. NO! when I asked why they did not provide some paper tail they said they were sorry but that's just the way things were and too bad. I will never know what happened to my insurance policy because MERCER PUT UP a fire wall. It washes itself of all responsibility and there is know way to follow up on this except to keep calling AIG. AIG CLAIMS TO HAVE no knowledge of receipt of paper work from MERCER. EVEN though it is clear that this is the 3rd party that NYSUT used to process claims. I am at my wits end. And there is no hope or follow through. Mercer though having received a FED EX overnighted package from me ( so it is verified) is unwilling to help me in any way to discover what happened to my husband's information or death certificate. Who do you call for help? And this is the bill of goods that NYSUT sold my husband.

Final response

1/7/2016 yesterday I spoke with [redacted] a customer representative for AIG Direct insurance Services Inc. at 1-800-575-8026. I was having some issues with another company and Mr. [redacted] was very inclined and more than willing to help me. He set me up with a medical exam all was well his statement to me was to attempt to get qualified for the largest amount possible. 500,000 dollars which would have been great if the price was right..So that evening, I was digging through paperwork and found another policy I had so out of courtesy to Mr, [redacted] I decided to give a him a call since he was so nice and helpful to me in the beginning. as I told Mr.[redacted] that I would no longer need his services he ask me how much my existing policy was for and I told him 100,000 his remarks to me were, then why were you trying to get 500,000? then he proceeded to tell me I HOPE NOTHING HAPPENS TO YOUR FAMILY. Everything was great and wonderful until it no longer involved him. I thought it was very rude and unprofessional, if I need anyting in the future it will surely not be with this company.
