Cost was a bit much, but well worth it considering the alternative of keeping a timeshare that we were basically swindled into. The company, *** (stay away from them) got us drunk, lied to us, and then signed us up for what we thought was a free vacation package as we had been saving up for 2 years for a nice family vacation with our 5 kids for current and past graduations. We were told we got the free certificates in the mail, we didn’t. When we called, *** informed us they only covered 80% to 90% depending on the vacation. Needless to say we ended up still funding our vacation without the “free” certificates because it cost about the same. *** even admitted to wrongdoing. No More Fees was extremely professional and always responded very promptly over the several months it took to get this straightened out. No More Fees helped protect our credit and made sure the formal complaints were filed. We always knew what they were doing because they sent us the letters to verify, sign, and mail out. *** appeared to be stubborn and they ended up finally saying they would keep all the thousands they already took from us but would no longer charge us or hold us accountable for the rest. We used zero (0) of the *** services yet they still kept thousands of dollars. Not ethical at all. In my business I would NEVER treat people that way. The worst part is once we agreed to that, I received an email from them intended to be internal, but accidentally sent to me that said “Game, set, match”. In other words, *** was celebrating taking advantage of us. Then came a letter of apology for sending such an inhumane email. I acquired two timeshares many years ago. One just before and one after I was married thinking that I would be traveling and planning vacations annually. Early on, that plan was perfect. My wife and I spent several years going to places we wanted to visit and had wonderful trips. A trip to Aruba for our honeymoon was likely the highlight of those trips. After we were divorced and my work rhythm changed where I had little time to myself, the need for a timeshare, the planning and desire to travel all really dried up. I thought given the price I paid for these units that I could recover some/all of that money by selling the timeshares and move on with my life. I tried three or four companies over about 10 years that all had listing fees and to no one’s surprise (in hind sight), these units were never sold and the ever increasing annual fees were paid without being used or exchanged. I rented the units a few times and that helped offset the costs at times but it wasn’t a permanent situation. As the fees increased, I thought I would never be able to get out from under them.
I looked into donation and that was a possibility but I was extremely skeptical because of the past failed options. Then, through luck (or fate), I heard that the donation company (‘Donate for a Cause’) was out of business and forwarded me to a company called Timeshare Specialists where I spoke with Dallas (lovely lady and extremely helpful) who suggested a call to “No More Fees LLC”. I provided information on one of my timeshares and the owner walked me through the entire process with his company and the transfer company (Timeshare Specialists). He provided a complete rundown of what the costs would be and when they would be charged and essentially guaranteed the process. I took the chance and as I write this testimonial, the unit has a buyer, the paperwork is being completed and in about 4-6 weeks, the timeshare will be gone.
For those that think timeshares will sell for what you paid for them, this process may not be for you. I’ve been through all those thoughts and as the years went by, the amount I continued to pay for annual assessments continued to grow. I wanted out. I’m here to tell you that No More Fees will successfully transfer your timeshare to another owner. It will take 3-6 months for the entire process to complete but you will be pleased at the end when you have the peace of mind that there will no longer be annual assessments showing up in the mail. The amount you’ll pay is a set fee (that isn’t cheap) for each resort but knowing it will work was significantly more important than the price.
If you want to remove the burden of a timeshare and have proven to yourself that you can’t sell it for profit, I highly recommend talking with Timeshare Specialists and No More Fees.
