I got the call at night from my boss asking me to relocate the next daySure, I didn’t have too many things to move but given the time constraints, I just had to hire a moving companyI called Northside Moving at am asking if they could send over some movers right thenThey said yesThe movers arrived after an hourThey packed up everything within an hour only! It really was the fastest move ever since they delivered everything just a few hours later to my new accommodationEven my boss was surprised that I was able to move so fast!

Mr** was given an estimate based on the items he provided us with over the phone. When we showed up the his location, there was more items added onto his inventory then originally providedAgain, he was
quoted at the price originally given because of the inventory list he providedInstead, the day of his move he was told by the foreman that the price would change due to his inventory, hours of labor, taxes and packing suppliesWhen speaking to us over the phone, Mr** failed to mention that he had a long carrySo there was an additional cost for the long carryEvery email we send out to our clients stipulates that our forms of payment are 1) cash 2) money order 3) certified bank checkMr** was charged accordingly based on hours of labor, taxes, and packing supplies

We did state to her that packing materials are additional but she said she was doing her own packing; had we known she was not securing her furniture we would have estimated with the materials. We also do state that this was not a flat rate and we do put that in writing in the emails as well. I am rejecting this response because: This is second time that the moving company tried to say to look in the boxes delivered. The Chrome wire shelf stand was wrap all by it self in a clear plastic bag.  These unit is heavy and  I don't think that is going to get  lost in the truck.Respectfully

Stay away from these guys. They charged us 3 times on the quoted amount on the contract. The way they operate is by quoting you a low price to lock you initially. This is usually done by a dumb receptionist (Evelyn) when you call them. On the actual day of moving, the movers will arrive - usually 3 guys - 1 supervisor and 2 more to lift the heavy weight. Supervisor will conduct a walk through and then the cheating kicks in. On seeing that you are completely packed and ready to move they will disclose the following hidden charges -
actual packing material charges are 3 times of what is quoted on the phone - $170
long corridor charges - $150
stair charges - $200
driving the truck back to their own office charge - $75
On calling their office and talking to their owner John, we realized that nothing can be done as he was the master mind behind all the whole hidden charges and they very well know that since you are completely packed and ready to move, the odds of finding a new mover is next to none.
Read the other reviews and you will figure out why everyone is complaining about the same bad experience. I am disappointed at myself for not reading the reviews before I signed them for moving to my first new home. The whole experience with the movers completely ruined the excitement of moving into my new home for me and my family.
Complete rip off ! We were quoted $350 to $450 and ended up paying $1025

Oh my god, these guys were incredible!! It started off with Evelyn- she gave me the quote, and as small as it sounds, she was responsive to every random question up until the movers arrived she was awesome. On the actual move day, the movers were on time, professional, quick, and perfect. Nothing was broken. Moving into the new place , it turned out the sofa didn't fit into the elevator and barely fit into the new apartment. The movers must have tried about 40 different ways over about an hour to get it in and eventually did. They were incredible beyond words. I am so grateful to Northside and will not hesitate to recommend them to my friends and family.

I am rejecting this response because: I have gone back and looked at my quote and it does not say it is a flat rate. I never said I thought it was a flat rate. I am not arguing about wrapping my furiture. What I have an issue with is that I was only quoted a price for blankets making it seem like that was all the business used. I was never told about shrink wrap. I was quoted 4 dollars per blanket and ended up spending 160 for shrink wrap. I was never made aware that shrink wrap would be used or could be used. Also there was damaged to my wall and that was not addressed. I have called the company, that was the first thing I did and I got no where. I actually wsa argued with by staff. I told the staff that since there could be no resolution over the phone that I would have to contact the Revdex.com.

The customer never made us aware she had stairs and nor did she EVER state she had a long carry. As far as the tip goes, it's NOT mandatory, it's welcomed. Who doesn't tip hardworking movers? These guys carried her belongings up and down flights of stairs as well as carried her belongings over 75 ft...

from her apartment to the truck and back. She was charged accordingly. Had she been upfront that she had stairs and a long carry we would have added those prices to the original estimate. The customer is an out right liar.

When I spoke with Evelyn on the phone she asked me what floor the apt was on I said second floor she asked is there an elevator I said no there are about 12 stair give or take. She never mentioned any extra costs for this. So it is the fault of your employee for not being more descriptive or charges. Had I been aware of these additional charges it would not have been an issue and would have been better prepared for this. Also as previously stared we told the driver to park in the back of the building as it was closer, he refused stating he was fine where he was parked. To end this conversation maybe you need to have a meeting with your employees so they have a better understanding as to what they need to state in the contracts and what they need to tell the customers exactly.

[redacted] is lying. At no point in time did they EVER stress to us that he said he had 250 boxes. Rather, they were only suppose to have 25 boxes. When we called the consumer to ask him about this, he said he just didn't know how many boxes he actually had. Secondly, the consumer did NOT get the...

key to his new place, therefore our guys were just sitting around waiting for him. When we offered to send another crew to go pick up the remainder of the items that didn't fit in the first truck, because he had so much overage of inventory, his sister was refused. We do not owe anything to this customer, if anything, he owes us additional money for time spent moving him.

I am rejecting this response because: The Moving Company was contacted the next day after the move.
They are telling you that we didn't check the truck, At 82 year old I'm not  going  to climb any truck, Also they keep saying to check
all the boxes. the unit was wrap in clear plastic, by it self. I had tried to contact the moving company
but they fail to callback. The moving company has fail from the start by changing the moving hour from 0800 to 1230
there by rushing to get to new place by the allowable time of 1630 hours.

I am rejecting this response because:I received your letter dated 10/7/2016 re: Northside Movers. Again, I reiterate that I was told by Evelyn that there would be no up charges and the truck would be coming out of Toms River, not Hawthorne specifically!Plus the fact I contacted the company 5 times after the move and each time I was told I would get a call back from the supervisor. I'm still waiting on the call. It never came. What a horrible company to work with. To charge a customer more than double the quote on the day of the move and to demand payment in cash! I didn't have that kind of cash at hand. What a stressful situation on what is a stressful day to begin with....??

Its a scam! Do not trust the nice lady on the phone! She talks real sweet and sells you on the company for your move. On the actual moving day she will not pick up the phone. You will be dealing with a mean manager who has no manners and uses rough language to intidimate you.
They quoted me $600 which include all the packing and material based on detailed list of items and pictures I had given them. Once they got here, they wanted $650 extra for "packing material" plus 20% mandatory tip for a total close to $1500. Its a scam! They bank on knowing that you are short on time and purposely come late in the day so you cant even look for anybody else if you have to vacate your house the same day. If you say no to the extra charges, manager on the phone charges your credit card $250 cancellation fee automatically and then blackmail you by saying "do you want the $250 cancellation fee counted towards your move or not?"

Do NOT give them your credit card number! Do NOT select this moving company! They are posting fake 5 star reviews themselves to get more business. All reviews are either fake 5 stars or the real 1 stars!

I have moved many times in my life and there is no better company than this. I had another company abruptly cancel my small move and I was in a huge bind. My boxes were sitting in the lobby of my building and needed to be taken to my new home. I called North side Moving on a whim and they were TERRIFIC! Within 3 hours, John had movers arrive and take care of this entire situation. Plus, the price he quoted was the actual price and the crew was great. Kudos that there are still good companies out there. I recommend them highly.
