NorthStar Products Inc. contacted the maintenance person at our school requesting permission to send him sample garbage bags at no charge.

Along with the bags came an invoice for $ 653.50 which we did not authorize. The maintenance person at our school does have the authority to make purchases.

He went right to the Revdex.com without talking to anybody.

We never sent samples to this school. He knows he ordered. He had authority to order. Now, all the sudden he doesn't.

We issued return labels to him.

Hello!I am writing to let you know that I have resolved the issue reported via Complaint # ***.Northstar Products, Inc. has authorized the return of the merchandise sent to us without authorization. Is there a way for me to go on-line and edit my original complaint?Thank you for your assistance on this matter.Regards,***Business Manager

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!!!!!! This "company" sends you stuff you didn't order and then sends a massively inflated invoice. I just call and the so called owner, Jim, gets rude and tells me he'll come get the products he sent but not issue a refund. Our finance office got the bill and paid it without question. HEY, NORTHSTAR, YOU ARE A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WISH I COULD GIVE NO STARS

I have called this company 8 times (or more), for a return label and instructions- they never answer or return phone calls. Our company was sent light bulbs we never ordered, extremely fraudulent. This purchase was never authorized and no purchase order number was issued. We are trying to send these back but cannot without communication. Our story matches so many others listed here. Person on the other end of the phone chatted with our front desk person at the location just long enough to get the maintenance man's name and then when transferred to the maintenance department he acted like he knew our maintenance man and said "I missed you last week." He proceeded to ship 1 case of light bulbs and offered a Wal-Mart gift card along with it. We have not opened the box and we reject it as ours. We need to get these sent back and the invoice voided immediately.

Northstar Products Response • Nov 25, 2019

Nobody ever called here.

Duane Castle had ordered merchandise on Oct 30 2019. Upon revew of our phone directories, no had called or left a message reguarding this order.

This complaint is just another incident of following the band wagon.

I work at a Ag Retailer and a salesman from this company called the location and was talking to me about their company. He then proceeded to offer a to send a Wal-mart gift card and a box of free Nitrile gloves with a merchandise catalog. We received 10 boxes of nitrile gloves then a few weeks later we recieved an invoice for 458.60. I did not agree to purchase any of the gloves as the salesman told me they would be a free gift. I have tried calling them many times to return the item, but no one will answer the phone. I don't believe this is the proper way to operate a business.

I have been able to contact the business and have got my complaint handled.

Office:

I'm a custodian at a public school who has no permissions to buy supplies. I've been on the job for almost 15 years and only order through form that I fax to my supervisor.

I normally don't answer my phone when it says "unknown caller" but while at work my phone rang and I decided to answer. Big mistake.

A gentleman who knew my name and where I worked said he came by last week when I was away (don't know how he knew I wasn't in town) and told me he was going to send me a couple boxes of trash bags and a case of gloves. He also said his wife came into some *** gift cards and was going to send one of those along with his business card. Under no circumstances did I say I wanted to purchase any items or did he mention that the school would be billed.

A week or so later I get a delivery of two cases of trash bags and a case of vinyl gloves. Cool, I put them in our supply area. Guys I work with grab a few boxes of gloves, we don't use the trash bags.

Flash to this morning the director of operations for my school emails me a bill that she received. $295 for two cases of trash bags and $375.50 for a case of vinyl gloves and $66.10 for shipping. These prices are outrageous compared to what my districts supply contract is! Like waaaay too high and we're never going to pay for then because we never had any agreement on a purchase. So right now they are sitting in a warehouse minus three boxes of used gloves waiting for a supposed return label to be faxed.

Northstar Products Response • Apr 26, 2019

Wait a minute. That is a stone lie. He ordered the merchandise. When it came in, he used the product. That's why he went to the Revdex.com. We take back merchandise that has not been opened or used.

We receive three boxes of supplies (1 with latex gloves and two with garbage bags) from Northstar Products, Inc. PO Box ***, Southampton, PA) that we did not order. I cannot get a hold of the company. In trying to find a contact I understand this is common with this company and that I will most likely receive an invoice for these products. Looking at the previous complaints filed against this same company I see that even I send the products back I will receive a bill. These items were not ordered by our establishment, I cannot get a hold of anyone in customer service, and I have been informed that this is a scam that has hit several businesses recently.

Northstar Products Response • Mar 01, 2019

This Woman has no idea what's going on. The man had ordered the supplies. Why don't she wise up, nobody was in the office.

Northstar Products Response • Mar 20, 2019

No one was rude to her at all. Another case of joining the band wagon that's all it is

I was contacted by North Star representative telling me he wanted to send me a walmart gift card and then said he wanted to send me a free sample of his product . about a week later I got 4 cases of trash bags and a case of nitrile gloves I didn't order. Almost a month later they send a bill for 1100 dollars . I did not authorize them to send me anything but the gift card and sample. I tried to email them but it said email address was incorrect.I am trying to contact them to send me return labels or have someone take this stuff back.I didnt order it and will not be paying for it.

Northstar Products Response • Feb 18, 2019

yes, we sent 5 cases if merchandise as samples and my name is *** (PHILANTHROPIST).

We don't send (or tell anybody they are samples) at all. The man ordered them.

I am the facilities manager at a school in Chicago and I received a phone call from a salesman from this company. He asked me what size garbage bags we use and if we use latex gloves. I told him the size of garbage bags we use and said that we do use latex gloves. He replied that he will send me a couple of FREE cases of garbage bags and a case of FREE latex gloves. He also said that he was going to send me a *** gift card as a gift for the holidays which I, of course, never received. A couple weeks later we received the garbage bags and latex gloves. We opened 2 of the boxes of latex gloves and used a couple of pairs of gloves. A few weeks after we received the gloves we received a bill for close to $800. I then called the company and told them what had happened. The woman on the phone laughed at me and told me that no one sends anything for free. She was very unprofessional and did not want to listen to anything I had to say. But she finally said that it was ok to return the products and to just keep the 2 boxes of opened gloves. She also said she was going to fax over some postage to send back the products. So I sent the products back and thought I was finally done with that company but unfortunately we just received a bill for $158. I called them again and the same woman told me we have to pay for what we kept. I told her we are not paying because their salesman LIED. She proceeded to laugh at me again and I just told her that we are not paying and that I am going to contact the Revdex.com. WORST COMPANY EVER.

Northstar Products Response • Jan 09, 2019

We sent labels for them to return merchandise. They returned 2 cases of the liners, but 8 out of 10 boxes of gloves.

There was never a mention of free gloves or samples. We sent an adjusted invoice of what they kept and used. His response was to file a complaint...

In 15 years in the business just got my 3rd call at my 3rd property from "Northstar" today. The approach hasn't changed much. They call after hours to get the name of the Chief Engineer, Purchasing Agent, Executive Housekeeper. They then call during business hours asking for the person by name. Next is a call. "I stopped by the other day and just missed you. I was going to leave a catalog but I figured I should talk to you" (variations on how it could just get filed anyway if didn't talk personally.) Next is confirming your address and asking for another number (your personal or direct dial) to harass you directly. Then it is I'm going to send you out a catalog plus (insert scam here) that varies between a free refrigerator to a tool set to (latest) a Wal-Mart gift card. They are going to send a huge free gift, catalog, maybe samples. Finally we'll confirm that shipping address AND YOUR ORDER FOR (insert case of toilet paper, LED bulbs, latex gloves here). The SCAM is they hope you don't catch "YOUR ORDER FOR" among whatever free crap they promised. You'll receive a case of cheap China latex gloves (or lightbulbs or whatever) and a bill for $399 or more for a $30 item. That will be followed by collection threats. If you report it to scambusters or Revdex.com their response is pretty generic. All your fault, we did nothing wrong, you ordered the product. Hate to say it but if they follow "the script" it is technically legal. SCAM nonetheless as they prey upon those who are new or are not paying full attention. They don't have all these complaints because they are a great company. Oh, today's scam attempt hung up on me when trying to throw in a case of LED bulbs. Stated I'm a brand new property with LED bulbs and won't have to replace any for 10 years. CLICK! LOL

I have called this company 8 times (or more), for a return label and instructions- they never answer or return phone calls. Our company was sent dust masks we never ordered, extremely fraudulent. The invoice arrived AFTER the due date. We are trying to send these back but cannot without communication. Our story matches so many others listed here. Person on the other end of the phone chatted with our office person at the location just long enough to get her name and then "thanks for your order!" and hung up on her! We need to get these sent back and the invoice cleared.

I am rejecting this response because: No one lied. I called 10-12 times with no response. I filled out this complaint, the following week correspondence from the company finally happened THEN a return label was recvd, but not before repeated calls. Also just recvd a harassing phone call. Luckily it was recorded.
Regards

this company got an employee that does not purchase supplies to agree to a "free sample". The "free sample" arrived in the form of a case of gloves. Shortly thereafter sending an invoice. Once I received the invoice I contacted the company letting them know that we had not agreed to purchase anything from them and they need to send a return label for the case of gloves. The guys opened a box of gloves before the invoice thinking they were the "free sample", the gloves were not of acceptable quality. We sent back the 9 unopened boxes of gloves and were billed 42.95 for the gloves and 37.50 return shipping. I called 10/24/18 to inform the company we would not be paying for anything. They claim they are owed for the unreturned box of gloves and return shipping that they do not offer "free samples".

Northstar Products Response • Oct 24, 2018

Because we asked them to pay for what they used.

The sales representatives of this company contact business employees apparently around the country with the intent of selling their products by sending boxes of gloves and liners as "free merchandise" in lieu of an order. The finance department is then billed with an invoice of high amount (over $700.00) for the merchandise sent to the business. Once *** is contacted, an answering machine always responds to the phone call. A month later a very unprepared and unpleasant manager returns the call by stating that a *** rep may have called one of our employees and a miscommunication may have occurred. Now ***t wants to provide the labels via email to return the packages. Apparently, this company tries to scam businesses by getting in contact with employees dealing with janitorial products and then sends them products never ordered in the first place. Beware because nobody knows what exactly is in these boxes. They could even be life threatening. And once you receive the bill and pay it accidentally anyone from *** could steal the information from the check.

That’s right, there are 2 sides to every story. This story is ridiculous

The woman called here was so irate. We never said FREE

of anything what so ever. This woman only wants to keep our merchandise without payment. The only way she fells comfortable with doing so is to vent to the Revdex.com.

We were very happy to take back all products sent. It wasn’t a month later that we returned a phone call. These products were ordered by the custodian that my salesman had spoke to.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

No business company will send ordered merchandise worth $700.00 to another company without pre-payment approval or a credit check to establish a net 10/15/30 day invoicing process. As a school we do not purchase merchandise without going through a board approved purchasing procedure of providing a PO to a company and establishing a business partnership with them by filling out liability paperwork. Any business for which we cannot establish a credit agreement will always request a credit card payment prior to shipping merchandise to our school. Any one scammer can go on our website and find out an email address of one of our employees and a location where to send merchandise that can contain hazardous material and life threatening items to employees and students.

The woman in question happens to be the SCHOOL PRINCIPAL AND FINANCE MANAGER of a well established k-12 school in ***. The custodian in question happens to be be the Director of Operations in charge of safety and security of our facility. Mr. B has sent an attachment to my school email address which he clearly obtained through our website. I never personally gave him my email address and explicitly denied him the privilege to send me any email notifications when he insisted to have my email address during our brief phone call . Our IT manager and data analyst was notified immediately upon receipt of this attachment in the email that this Mr. B recently sent to me. I will ensure to submit a complaint to the the federal bureau of investigation as well. This business could be a serious threat to any business by sending hazardous merchandise in boxes apparently never ordered by anyone on staff.

The merchandise this scamming company has sent to our school is currently in our possession for further investigation by our local authorities.

Please let me know how we can move forward in resolving this matter.

Best Regards,

***School Principal & Finance Manager

Same tactics as the other reviews. Contacted our custodian asking what products we used. Sent us a "free" sample followed by a ridiculously high invoice. Next thing we know, we are getting multiple packages from them with similar invoices for outrageous amounts. Called and left a message for them to stop sending us stuff, and that we would not be paying the invoices. They returned the call, asking to speak with the custodian. I informed them that he was not available and that they could speak to me (principal of the school). He indicated that the custodian was a personal friend and that he would just "call him on his cell". SCAM!

Hilton Hotel received 1 case of small light bulbs and a invoice for $399.90.
Item was NOT ordered by hotel or staff.
Northstar was contacted and stated we must have and gave a name of an employee on site.
Employee did not order items, nor would have as hotel does not use this type of lighting, and employees have no authority to do so.
Northstar has multiple complaints on the same type of issue with the Revdex.com in Pennsylvania on identical complaints. 16 in Total.
Northstar stated to myself the GM of the hotel they would send a return label to my Hilton e-mail. This never occurred.
This hotel needs to confirm with Northstar thru the Revdex.com the actual address of the company so we may return product with signature confirmation.

This hotel has since received the following e-mail from Northstar:

Typical response with threatening behavior from a scrupulous business.

Hilton now has address from this business and is as of today 2.1.18 sending the merchandise back with signature confirmation attached.

Once vendor receives merchandise and Hilton gets statement saying invoice is null and void, complaint will be satisfied.

Until such a time, threatening collections on consumer fraud will not help reach a quicker solution, and will only serve to escalate a issue.

THE MERCHANDISE WAS ORDERED. AS STATED BEFORE, THE MAN WHO ORDERED THE MERCHANDISE KNOWS HE ORDERED.

We sent the right led lamps that he wanted. I guarantee that they use this type. The man (gm) has nothing better to do..

A company representative contacted our school stating they wanted to seek our business and sent over a "free box of disposable latex gloves". Mind you companies routinely do this as a means of attempting to solicit our business so this was not out of the ordinary. (At this point the telephone call stating the product was free and the action of sending the box of latex gloves to the school was a unilateral contract on behalf of NorthStar.) The box was mailed. However, my intake AR received a bill for the gloves at a substantial mark up. This constitutes a breach on NorthStar's part with the consideration being the product as well as the potential of doing business with a school. After reading several of the comments listed below there appears to be a common thread here and I am suspicious this is a common business practice for NorthStar to send over unsolicited product in an attempt to collect a "non-bargained for price", subsequently, a threat of "notice will go to collection" scares companies into changing the terms of the unilateral contract into a coerced bargain to pay for an unsolicited item. In my experience the tactic goes against the statute of frauds, the UCC, and the merchant confirmation rule.

This company is a SCAM! They called one of our departments offering a free box of Nitrile gloves and insisted we trial them. After we used the box, a bill was sent for $429! We buy the same boxes from our distributors for $66. They are demanding payment. When the sales rep called me, he got so upset that I was not paying, that he screamed at me and hung up. It sounds like they have tried to scam multiple hospitals.

Got a call from a salesman and he said he would send me a "complimentary" box of rubber gloves. Just got a bill for $458.75. WHAT! Left a message as all my calls go to voicemail demanding a return label to send the gloves back. Haven't heard back yet. SCAM!!!

This company should clearly be reported to the *** and my intentions are to do this. They shipped a box of dust masks to our office based on a name they received from the individual that answered the telephone who is not authorized to make any purchases. When we received the dust masks, I called the company and asked several questions to the point where they did fax a *** return label and the masks returned. However, they continue to call our receptionist and when they say that the general manager (me) wants to speak to them, they hang up. They should be investigated for fraudulent sales based on previous complaints and continued actions.

Northstar Products Response

You can se that we took care of this already. This is just another case of looking on the Revdex.com website and doing the same thing everybody else does, complain.

Customer Response

I am rejecting this response because:

This is not an erroneous or fabricated complaint. This is a case where this company attempted to fraudulently collect monies from a major corporation and got caught. The potential for them to continue this activities against other businesses is high and should be investigated. An additional complaint has been filed with the *** in hopes that this company will be held responsible for their unscrupulous and predatory activities towards businesses. Their response is not only unacceptable, it is an additional attempt to mask their deceptive practices.

Northstar Products Response

They called up. We issued a return service label, end of story. There was never an invoice generated at all.

Our custodian received a call from a representative of NorthStar Products stated he would like to send a FREE box of Nitrile Gloves 4mil gloves to our school to try. We received an entire case of gloves along with an invoice for $451.75. The custodian called the company as well as I and they stated they never said the gloves would be FREE. I stated that we require approved purchase orders for ANY purchases and this was not approved and we would not be paying for the gloves. I was able to get a return shipping label to return the unopened boxes of gloves however they are still billing us for the one opened box at an exorbitant price of $42.95 plus shipping of $22.25, totalling 65.20. I explained over and over again to the receptionist at NorthStar that we will not be paying for the gloves as they were NOT an approved order and our custodian was told they were FREE to try out, that is why he opened one box. They would not take the opened box back stating they were contaminated and could not be returned. I spoke to the general manager and received all of the same story that our man ordered them, he then stated the conversation was recorded and when I asked for it to be played for me he became rude and ended the call stating I still have to pay $42.95 that he would knock off the shipping of $22.25.

Northstar Products Response

The Rep never said We were sending a FREE box of gloves. When the customer called stating they didn't want the gloves, we issued a return service label to pick the gloves up free of charge. We're only trying to get paid for the merchandise that they used. We did nothing wrong.
