I dropped off two rugs to be repaired and cleaned. Noure's never gave me a quote on the work. I was expecting to pay approximately $600 for the work. He called to tell me the work had been completed. The bill was $2600. He never gave me an estimate or an indication that the level of work required would be anywhere close to this price. He did a lot of unnecessary work on the rugs, and they don't look good.
When I confronted him about the problem, he simply stated that this is what the rugs needed. He reduced the price to $2000. We paid it and left.
I feel he completely bamboozled us, knowing that if we wanted our rugs back we would have no choice but to pay him.

This is the first time we are receiving a complaint like this and we take this very seriously. Mrs. *** met my son in front of our Lake Geneva store on May 18. The store was closed at the time due to Covid. She dropped off two rugs requesting that they be washed and repaired. There were multiple holes that needed to be mended and the sides were frayed. Mrs *** authorized us to proceed with the work. Noure’s Oriental Rug deals in fine handwoven textiles and luxury oriental rugs. We have an onsite skilled artisan that restores rugs by hand. These charges were well within the fair market value of such services. We even extended a 25% discount to the Geldermans. It was our understanding that was satisfactory. Noure’s Oriental Rug has built a strong reputation based on quality merchandise and workmanship. We have been in business for 40 years serving our community with pride. My husband was a well respected businessman in Lake Geneva and the slanderous statements from Mr. Steve *** are extremely hurtful to us. We hope to resolve this matter amicably.
