Nova Movers

I requested service from Nova Movers and they were scheduled to arrive between 1-2 pm on Nov. 28, 2015. The electricity was not yet on in my new apartment, but given the projected arrival time I wasn't concerned. I had very few large items. Yet, when it neared 2 pm, I grew concerned. So I called Amine to express my worries about the lighting situation and he said, "Don't worry. We will make it work." Once it reached 3:30 pm and they still had not arrived, I was very concerned. I called Amine again and he said the two movers were on their way. They arrived at 3:45. They were able to get everything out of the apartment within an hour, though they did not bring the TV box that I requested nor a requested mattress bag.
By the time we reached the second location, it was dark. I asked them if they would be okay moving in low lighting (I had candles.) And they were surprised. Amine had not told them about the power situation. Nonetheless, they were able to move everything in pretty efficiently. I credit them for working through a less than ideal situation.
Two days later, I check my bank account and saw that I was charged more than I expected -- $312. The rate I was quoted was $65 per hour flat. When I called Amine to ask why I was being charged so much for three hours of service, he said the price included an hour of travel time and an additional $35 fee. This was the first time either fee was mentioned to me. He suggested I check my email. I did. There was no record of him providing a breakdown of the price that included the additional $100. I expected hiring movers would be costly, but I find the practice of including hidden fees to be totally dishonest and disingenuous. If I had been given a full estimate at the time I scheduled the move I would at least have done so with my eyes open and with the ability to make a fair comparison between NovaMovers price and that of their competitors. I would certainly not recommend anyone hire this company. I've dealt with several movers, and this has been my worst experience.
