"*** and her son *** have been a part of our afternoon club since the beginning of our Fall semesterIt's been a pleasure having *** and his family in our community here in Long Island City! *** signed up online for ***'s second year of afternoon club on August **, and did
sign our Afternoon Club class contractIn our contract, our policy specifies that if a family is choosing to pay in full, a partial refund may be granted for the remainder of the semester's tuition with days notice prior to the next billing dateOur website's terms and policies section also states specifically that all monthly payments will be charged on the 30th of each month and families who have chosen to pay in full may receive a partial refund for the remaining year's tuition with days notice prior to the next billing date*** sent me an email on September 9th regarding a refund for her afternoon club enrollment beginning September ***, at which time I was able to offer her a refund for the Fall semester, less the cost of the first month's tuition. Last year, our program was non-refundable and I am glad to report that we have been able to open this option to allow flexibility for families. When registering families for afternoon club in person, over email, or over the phone, I like to further reiterate these policies to ensure that our program is the best fit for our families and their plansIn an online order, however, I am unable to reiterate these policies before registration and the best resource is then the contract signed at time of purchase and our website's terms and policies."

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
For the immediate previous Semester in (Spring and Summer 2016), right below the Afternoon Club section, it stated "Students are entitled to a full refund, less a $cancellation fee and the cost of classes that have taken place, prior to the end of the third week of the semesterShould you choose to take a NYKC credit, the cancellation fee will be waivedNo refunds or credits will be given after the third week of the semesterRefund requests must be submitted in writing and must include the child's name, the adult's name, the details of the program being cancelled, and the reason for the cancellation."We have been under the impression that the Refund Policy is applicable to the Afterschool Programs, as shown in the last page of the programWith the new Fall semester, parents have not been informed with the changes in Refund PolicyAs such, we still think we are entitle to receive the refund minus the $cancellation fee

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
We are not satisfied with the response from New York Kids Club for numerous reasons:1- As stated in our last response- classes at the other NY Kids Club locations are not convenient for our familyAttending classes afterschool would require our year old to travel for over hour in each direction to attend classes via public transportation after attending a full day at schoolHer school ends at 2:and would not arrive at Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights or Park Slope until after 3:45pmThere are very limited classes for her age group and interest that start at the 4:time slotClasses at those locations end at 5:and would require her to travel again for over hour to get homeMy daughter's bedtime is at 7pm so this will leave her little time to eat dinner and unwind after a very long dayOther locations are NOT convenientThe Wiliamsburg location was across the street from me at Northside PiersI live at Northside PiersMy medical condition limits my mobility at times and traveling to other parts of Brooklyn is not an option. 2- My daughter did not enjoy taking classes at NY Kids Club for the 3-age groupWe have seen inconsistency with teachers since the opening of the Williamsburg location in with lots of staff turnoverOther students in the 3-class were wearing diapers and the instructors were not able to control the class and keep the year olds engagedI observed a "Hip Hop" Class for 3-year olds on a Saturday taught by the one of the head instructors and we observed the instructor struggle to keep the younger students interested in the classHe was not able to balance the year olds with trying to teach skills to the only year old in the class which was my daughterThere needs to be more adequate training for instructors or additional teachers when a class has an abundance of babies in the classThe Williamsburg location understood that my daughter was mature beyond her years and she was able to follow directions well so she was taking the Gym Club Prep class (6-10yrs) since she was years oldI refuse to pay over $for each class that is poor quality and amature instruction.3- I would like to see the written policy for NY Kids Club where a customer does not receive a refund for store credit at a location that is closing due to lack of enrollment.4- I would like to see the written policy for store credit that expiresOn my ONLINE account it states on May **, at store credit was activatedStarting value of $This store credit expires on May **, and there is a balance of $Is there an explanation for this store credit that has "expired"? What happened to $765? Clearly there is foul play involvedIn addition, there are other entries under store credit for June ** where there are additional values entered: $545, $and $I would like an explanation for these entries on my online accountI did not create these numbersThey are clearly stated on my account.5- I received a one page summary of my account in the mail from NY Kids Club after my complaint was filed with the Revdex.comThis summary is more confusing than my online account! I have included an attachment in my responseAt three points my store credit was "Zero'd out" or in the "Negative"On 4/**/my credit card was charged for $4,On 5/**/my credit card was charged for $I received at $store credit for a sibling discountOn 5/**/my card was charged $On 6/**/by card was charged for $Then my store credit was Zero'd outThere is a column for refunds that says "yes" or "no" yet refunds are also listed under the column stating "Class"This is not an accurate or coherent listing of my accountThese accounting practices are suspicious and appear to be fraudulentI have attached a copy of the balance sheet they sent me so Revdex.com can see this disgraceful accounting practices of NY Kids Club.My suggestion to Revdex.com is a third party or independent accountant get involved and go over my account to see how much is owed to meIn addition, I refuse to send my year old daughter on a two hour crusade across Brooklyn to a class she does not enjoySending her to other locations in a "mile radius" will require a one hour commute in each directionI would like a full refund of all $ that is rightfully owed to me

I decided against filing a formal complaint because I told the owner I wouldn'tHowever, I would like to steer people away from this shop in the form of this reviewI arrived minutes early for an 8am appointmentNo one started my hair until after 9amI paid extra to have small twists with extra length and left with twists 3x larger than I requestedI wish that I would've left the shop without paying and had them to pursue legal action against me, since they would not have a case in courtHowever, I am a woman of integrity so leaving that way was not an option for meThe owner can often be found saying that she wants her customer to be happyThis is falseShe wants them to be happy as long as it does not involve her or her team taking any sort of responsibility, or a refund on her partI got my hair braided Saturday, took them out on Sunday, (talked to her both days) and she only agreed to give me a partial refund -- after I threatened to take my complaints to the news and social mediumsBefore that, she offered me $off and then said she would go to $off so I ended up paying $She is quick to tell untruths and has her front desk staff (who are very sweet women) to do the same to cover for her as well*Please note* I know that is a serious allegation and I would not say that if I did not experience itThere were several instances that I caught them covering for her about not being available and about the cost of the hairI simply let it go so that I could get my partial refundSeriously, just choose another shop and skip the drama hereYou'll be happy you didIf you must go, be very specific about your expectations and watch the braiderThis is not the place to read a book while getting your hair doneYou'll look up and may have a nightmare on your handsGood luck

The client was refunded for the days that they did not attend, and accepted the refund amount via email We were then told via email that the client was going to attend on Thursdays only They chose to not attend on Thursdays, therefore it is not our responsibility to refund them for the remainder of those days

The previously attached schedule is our enrichment class schedule for the Winter/ Spring semesterOur afternoon club programming is separate from our 45-minute and hour long enrichment classesPreviously the afternoon club was non-refundable and now we are able to refund our program on a month by month basisWe have been advertising this update to our families since it offers new flexibility! Attached is the flyer we've been sharing at our front desk to speak with families about afternoon clubAttached also is a screenshot of our afternoon club refund policy from our website ***Because we have limited enrollment and also staff our classes based on the number of students, we do ask that families give us days advanced notice before canceling our programIn this case, I was able to refund $of the $purchase, lessing the $cost of the first monthly installmentI received an email requesting a cancellation on September 9th for the program beginning September ***

At this time, The NY Kids Club will not be granting the refund request of $1, The original refund amount was readjusted and approved by the client, and does not reflect a $cancellation fee per day. This refund was an exception from our policy because of the extenuating circumstance, and
we have a signed contract from the client stating that she is aware of the refund policy

1. On May [redacted], 2015, [redacted] was issued a refund for a Gymnastics II class for her daughter. Gymnastics II is for children 3 ½ - 5 years. Because [redacted] originally paid for this class in store credit, she was issued back a store credit refund. Our refund policy on store credit states: “NY Kids Club store credit is non-refundable, unless the refund period for the program from which you un-enrolled has not yet ended.” 2. The NY Kids Club does extend full refunds for classes, less a $50 cancellation fee, should it fall within the parameters of our class refund policy. Families who take a store credit instead, will be waived the $50 fee. Our refund policy on classes states: “Students are entitled to a full refund, less a $50 cancellation fee and the cost of classes that have taken place, prior to the end of the third week of the semester. Should you choose to take a NYKC credit, the cancellation fee will be waived. No refunds or credits will be given after the third week of the semester. Refund requests must be submitted in writing and must include the child's name, the adult's name, the details of the program being cancelled, and the reason for the cancellation.” 3. Additionally, [redacted] can use her credit at our Williamsburg location for the remainder of the summer semester, through September 4th. 4. A day later (May **th, 2015), [redacted] was issued a store credit for cancelling two weeks of Summer Camp, and was issued the full amount, $1220, back in store credit in order to waive the cancellation fee of $50 per week. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I reject this response for four reasons:1- I was told my the manager at NY Kids Club Williamburg over the phone that I would get a full refund to my credit card because my daughter was not interested in taking classes for 3-5year olds. For the past year she has been enrolled in a class for 6-10 year olds because of her maturity and ability. One Saturday in the Spring, my daughter attended a trial class for Hip Hop (ages 3-5) and there were several 3 year olds who were wearing diapers and who could not follow directions from the instructor. My daughter has been potty trained since the age of 2 and she refuses to take classes with 'babies'. 2- The company has given full refunds to other customers who have withdrawn from classes in the past. There is precedent for giving full refunds.3- The other locations mentioned are not convenient for me. I have an autoimmune disorder and cannot travel to take my daughter to classes is Brooklyn Heights or Park Slope. This would require me to hire someone to take her to these classes and travel over 45- 60mins each way by public transit. My daughter is 5 years old and traveling 2 hours a day to a class she is not interested in taking is unreasonable. The Williamsburg location was across the street from my building so I was able to walk and take her to class. Other locations are too far away and not an option for our family.4- If you log into my account and go to the Store Credit and click on details this is what you see: Store Credit Issued May **, 2015. Expires May **, 2016. Starting Value: $1220.00. Balance $455.00. This looks like $765 was taken out of my account because it "expired". If you go to the "Order History" on my account online there are several thousand dollars made in purchases which do not correspond to classes taken by either of my children. I need to see a line by line account of money going in and out of my account in order to be satifsied NY Kids Club has not taken money out the the account without my knowledge.I would expect a company like NY Kids Club who caters to families and has locations around NYC would have better accounting practices so the consumer could easily follow his/her account online. Unprofessional and corrupt practices.

This place is not professional, they lack experienced braiders who are licensed, and they have poor customer service skills. They are only concerned with pleasing you when you are spending $180 or more.

Review: I had booked a birthday party and just 1 week later I had called to cancel. This was a year ago. They would not let me use the $300 towards any other class except a birthday party. Considering my son was 3 year old and we decided not to throw a party for family reasons, I thought it was inconsiderate of a kids establishment not to honor our credit card with $300 towards the event. Every other date was availiable that month so when I canceled only one week later I should of been refunded.

I just want this complaint on file. I would love our money back we are no longer in the city. I feel we were treated cruel. This place called me in March 2015, to see if I wanted to have my birthday party there. I think they are a scam and they took our money. The party was only booked for one week and they were unfair. The only reason I am complaining now is someone told me I can report this.Desired Settlement: $300 back that is owed to me.
