Review: Upon contacting NYC Private Rooms, I made an appointment to have assistance in seeking a roommate and finding a room. When I went to office on August [redacted], I was given a set of directions to view a "property manager" who is affiliated with NYC Private Rooms. I was also told this to "property manager" would show me unlimited access to various rooms. Upon going to "property manager" to discuss my rooming options, I was sent to an already established agency, American Plaza on [redacted], who conducts its own business, and told me that they do not conduct business with NYC Private Rooms - they do not know why they keep "referring" clients people to them. I called Karen, the supervisor at NYC Private Rooms, who then referred me to another two "agencies" to speak to Vanessa who then referred me to another agency and to speak with Jose. Vanessa explained that I would need to leave a second $150 deposit fee; prior to seeing any rooms with her or Jose. When I realized that I was in a scam, I contacted Karen the next day and visited the office in person. I requested a refund that she denied. As per account of the building's security guard and handy man, NYC Private Rooms has brought negative traffic to the building. Each day, they are completing incident reports because consumers have contacted the police against their advertised and false claims, and are not receiving services in exchange for their money. Needless to say, the police have been to the building everyday of the week. Upon asking for my refund a second time, Karen told me my refund was denied because "the day I called the cops, she lost three clients" and this is why my refund was denied by her boss, who also cannot be contacted. Karen also told me I can take her to court to get my money back. She also told me that the cops would tell me to take her to court as well, and that there was nothing she could do to give me my rightful $200 back.Desired Settlement: NYC Private Rooms is conducting fraud. They do not render the services as advertised on [redacted]. NYC Private Rooms also has poor professionalism, poor conduct and is an unlicensed agency (as per the DOS Real Estate license division). I write and am complaining against this company because the services they advertise are a breach, dishonest in practice and are robbing the public and consumer of their earned resources that should not be divested so easily.

Review: I paid a registration fee of $150 to become apart of this company's database in order to look at various rooms to possibly rent either weekly/monthly from [redacted]s that were supposedly "affiliated" with this company. I was explained by the receptionist [redacted] and [redacted] that once I found a room to rent, I would submit my receipt from the paid registration fee and copy of my signed agreement with NYC Private Rooms to the [redacted]. The [redacted] would then contact NYC Private Rooms and notify them that the room should be removed from the database, insinuating an exclusive partnership with the Room [redacted]s and this company as promised. 3 days after I started using the database, I realized that the [redacted]s were indeed NOT affiliated with the company "NYC PRIVATE ROOMS" and were in fact from [redacted]. I even spoke to two [redacted]s that told me to notify the company and tell them to remove their listings because they never gave "NYC PRIVATE ROOMS" authorization to list their rooms.

I then contacted [redacted] and their [redacted]" for a refund of my $150 registration fee because of false advertising and misrepresentation on their behalf. [redacted], whom which I spoke to September [redacted] 2014, told me he was going to notify the [redacted] of my situation and get in contact with me by September [redacted] 2014. He has been ignoring my calls/texts ever since and the receptionists [redacted] and [redacted] have been giving me "the run-around" in colloquial terms. I was then informed by [redacted] that this business is operated based on "info-scrapping", which I was NOT told by [redacted] when I paid the $150 registration fee. Thus, I have been mislead and would like my money back.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive me $150 refund that I paid for this falsely advertised service and misrepresented/misleading company.

Sincerely,

Review: The young woman, [redacted], was 20 minutes late for my appointment but was friendly and helpful with misleading information about the agency she was then sending me to. How this works is that they charge you a fee of $150 then send you to see another agent ([redacted]) that will give you addresses to rooms for you to see. NYC Private Rooms make it clear that they don't do refunds but their advertisment is misleading. They advertise that all rooms come with wi-fi and have photos off lovely furnished rooms. What I saw where tiny, barely furnished rooms, and of a total of six which I saw -- none had wi-fi. Moreover, one landlord didn't include utilities in the price which means none of the agencies are in agreement with what they want and advertise for. NYC Private Rooms, advertises to fish people but then sends them to [redacted] which has rooms completely different from what was initially advertised.Desired Settlement: I would like my $150 refunded because of false advertisment and lack of information on the rooms that are being let out.

Review: I went to this company with the promise of finding a room. They never told me that there was a no refund policy until after they received my money. They have not found me a room, and they're not refunding me the $150 that I put out. Please help me so that other people don't get caught out there like I did. I wouldn't want this happening to anyone else. Thank you.Desired Settlement: I want my money back.

Review: I've tried looking online and in the newspapers for a room for both myself and my daughter but no luck. So I figured to go through the room rental agency. NYC Private Rooms advertised they have rooms for single and double occupancy. I've paid $150 only to get a password for the website which none of the contacts had available rooms for double occupancy only for single people. I've told them I would like a refund since they falsely advertised their business and was told by Carlos(Manager) that I won't get my money back. Please help me...thank you in advancedDesired Settlement: I would like my $150 back

Review: On the website they advertise that you can sign up for their service and find an apartment and move in on the same day as the meeting you schedule with them. They advertise fixed prices for single rooms and couple rooms with or with out pets. They advertise no fee room for week & monthly rental. They advertise that you are speaking directly with owners and that there are no background checks. When I arrived for my meeting they I asked them if I would be able to find a room today and they assured me that I would be as long as I called the people in the listings they gave me access to. What they provide you with for 150 dollars is a password to a database with the same listing as [redacted]. I called many of the people listed in the database and many were realty agents, many were not even aware of [redacted] and all of them were asking for free, security deposits, & bg checks. I lost 150 dollars and received nothing of what I was signing up for and had no place to live. They database is supposed to be updated everyday after 3 and most of the time they were updated with the same listings as the day before all listing you can find on [redacted].Desired Settlement: I would like for a refund of my 150 dollars and for the company to be forced to change their website to reflect accurate information or a link on the site to find out in detail how the system works.

Review: This company advertises that they can help you find a room within the time you're looking for. Last week I went in with a million and 1 questions before I left the office to make sure we were all on the same page. After leaving the office, I proceeded to call a few numbers given to me from the Database. One of which stated that the room was unavailable, and the other number was disconnected. Since I was still in the area, I went back to the office and made them aware of the issue. The lady at the front took the information and said the [redacted] would look into it and would remove those listings off of the site. I was a bit concerned and advised her that I really need this room. She said she would have no problem giving me my money back if this didnt work out. She said give it a try again and get back to them.

Since last week, I have been calling and texting several numbers and again, its either they are disconnected, or the room isnt available. I am on the verge of being homeless because this company advised me that they would help. I called the company again yesterday fussing and the same woman took all my information stating she would get back to me and never did.

Now I've been on hold for 40 minutes. Pretty much they're waiting on me to hang up and still no resolution. I am in utter disgust and cannot believe a business like this is allowed to be ran. They are running a scam on new yorkers and this business needs to be shut down. I want my money back, and if not I will escalate this to the news, and to other forms of public media. This cannot continue.Desired Settlement: I either want my money back, or I want this business to be fully investigated, because there is no way they can get away with this over and over. I will escalate this further if there is no resolution

Review: I went to this business to find a place to rent. On the website and in person I was promised that I could find places within my price range. I payed my fee of $150 to look at a list of potential rooms to rent. I called and text 50 on the first day I recieved my password from the agency for the website. I could not find any places to rent within my price range. Not only that but most of the rooms dont have pictures and there is no information other than location and a phone number. How is this helping me find a place to rent. Most people wanted way more money. This is a complete misrepresentation of service. This was a waste of money.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund because the service that this business offered was not as advertised.

I was lucky. I read [redacted]'s review and it stopped me from going to the appt that I made for today. This company texted me a reminder about my appt and I responded have to cancel. Something needs to be done about them to stop the scamming and fraud. TQ Revdex.com for being there.
