In 2007 through 2009 I purchased replacements windows from Olde Towne Windows and Doors, including a large patio door. In December, 2019 I noticed that the weather stripping was separating from the bottom of the patio door when I opened it. I took pictures of the problem and showed them to an employee in their showroom on Jan. 2, 2020. I was told that someone would contact me re: the issue. It is January 28 and I have not been contacted, despite several phone calls to the company to remind them and find out why.
Product_Or_Service: Sliding patio door

Desired Outcome

Repair I would like the door repaired or replaced.

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Feb 10, 2020

The patio door unit was installed spring of 2007. Our service department works part time and makes calls based on the territory they will be working in to schedule non urgent calls. We contacted the customer on 1/30 she responded on 1/31 and talked with the service dept. Olde towne scheduled an inspection for 2/3 determined what was required and has ordered the parts with the supplier. We do not inventory the parts required, we will contact once parts are received to schedule installation of the components

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
My main concern is the communication or lack of it in trying to get someone to acknowledge my problem so it could be corrected. I don't feel that it should have taken one month to get a response. I am trusting that the door will be repaired when the part comes in and weather permits.

They did a terrible job! The owner measured my windows twice and the installation for storm windows was horrible. The installers had to make several cuts to the frames, they came unprepared and had to leave for more equipment. The took off windows that were not being replaced. Just an all around unprofessional job. When the owner came I asked him if he was proud of his work. They never came to complete the job and one storm window does not stay up. The sad thing is the former owner was a professional and did my whole house several years ago. I believe that was a different owner that did quality work no matter how small a job.

My husband and I ordered replacement windows on 7/10/2019. Sixteen weeks later, we still do not have them. The sales manager came out, measured our window openings and sold us four windows. We were told that we would get them installed in 6-8 weeks. On August 29, 2019, I phoned to find out the status of the windows and was told that they were in. On Wednesday, September 4,2019, the contractor came out to install the windows and informed me that they were too small: the sales manager had made a mistake. I refused the order, stating that we ordered replacement windows, not reconstruction windows. The sales manager, (Chuck), came out to our house in the evening on September 10, 2019 and tried to talk us into taking the smaller windows and offered us $1800 to $2000 to do this. We countered by saying we would take our $3000 deposit back and go elsewhere or Olde Towne could reorder the correct windows. Chuck stated that giving us back the deposit was not an option and he would reorder the windows. He added that 3 of the windows would be in within 2 to 3 weeks and one would take 6 weeks. I have been calling about the windows for the past month and still no windows. Today, I took off from work this morning for 3 of the windows, and Tammy from Olde Towne called and said that the windows never made it from the manufacturer to them, so it would be another week. I offered to drive down to the manufacturer myself to pick up the windows, and that we would install them ourselves, and Tammy said that this was not allowed.
Product_Or_Service: Windows
Account_Number: Signed Contract

Desired Outcome

Finish the job I want the windows, and I want this done correctly. I have already missed two mornings of work over this, so wages have been lost. We have been living without the casements and trim since September 3, 2019, when my husband removed them to make the installation easier for the contractor, and one can feel the cold air coming through around the windows. We have yet to speak directly to the manager, (***), since September 11, 2019, when my husband refused (again) to take the smaller windows.

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Nov 07, 2019

Replacement windows are on order, scheduled for installation om 11/13/19. Manufacturer will not allow any dealer pickups from factory. Windows will be installed. the job will be finished. Trim removal by owner was not required. We will discuss time off compensation upon completion of the project

I signed a proposal to have this company replace french doors from my kitchen to the back patio. I wanted new doors to replace the old rotted ones to have a sliding screen door on the outside like the old one. That was written in the proposal. This proposal was signed 6/4/19. The doors showed up 7/22/19 to be installed but there was no screen doors with them. The french doors were sort of installed without the screen. Poor workmanship! Holes left unfilled, stain does not match on trim, light can be seen between doors to outside, wrong door handle on one side of doors, etc!

Follow-up after several calls by "***" (owner? I don't know his last name) 8/13/19. He made excuses about the screen door and we agreed on a remedy. He also agreed the installation was poor and said it would be taken care of. After another call to try to find out what was going on because I heard from no one by 9/23/19 I decided to write a letter to give up on them and they could keep the 1/2 of the price I paid upfront. I just wanted a letter from them agreeing to no more payment from me and I would not want them back to finish the job. It is now 10/10/19 and I have heard nothing!

I do not want them back and I do not want to pay another dime to them because the job was never completed as proposed and what was done was very unsatisfactory!
Product_Or_Service: French Doors with internal blinds

Desired Outcome

No further contact by the busi I do not want them back here but I do want a letter saying what work that was done at my home is paid for in full.

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Nov 06, 2019

We will contact the customer yet this week and rectify the complaint with our service technician

Customer Response • Nov 10, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
1st: They did not make contact as stated.

2ed: I do not want them back to do any more work, almost six months for a two day job is way too much and the work they do is SUB-PAR!

To resolve this complaint all I ask for is a Paid in full, work is complete letter from the business. Then I can get someone else that does quality work to complete the job. I have been left hanging for almost six months! I am done with them!

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Nov 12, 2019

We can do one of two options. I have worked with a new technician and have answers for screen, handle and trim. We can schedule any day this week to repair all items but the screen which will take three weeks once ordered. The tech can resolve the issues or I will consider The contract paid in full as is. We have had technician installer shortage and have not addressed the issue correctly. The manpower issue has been corrected if they would like to proceed. Please let me know as to what the next steps

Customer Response • Nov 13, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept the New technician and wait for the screen option. You were here three months ago and were going to get the screen then. I have lost all confidence in further dealings.
I will accept the paid in full option since I paid half and only got half a job done. I will clear this complaint when I get some sort of letter or the proposal marked paid in full.

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Nov 25, 2019

Revdex.com spoke with the *** from the business and he stated that he would send the customer an invoice stating paid in full.

Customer Response • Nov 29, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Received the original proposal from the business signed as Paid in full. As such I expect nothing further from them and I consider the matter closed.

Ordered special order front entrance door and storm door in September. Still missing storm door. Will not return ANY calls.

I had to call and call the co. in Nov to find out where my special order doors were. Finally was told doors had come in but storm door had a dent and a new one had to be ordered. Decided to install entrance door while waiting for storm door.

Then had to put up with drafts around the door because it couldn't be caulked in. After tons of calls, worker came a few weeks ago with new storm door. As he was finishing the install, I realized it opened on the incorrect/opposite side. He removed this door and I have had no communication with owner. I have called almost everyday requesting a rush Order and at least a phone all---nothing. I have gone all winter now with a drafty cold front entrance! So far I have paid $1700 of the $3400. Did I get a rush order.? A phone call?

Desired Outcome

I need my storm door installed and the door/threshold caulked and finished before Spring gets here. Some sort of communication from a company I thought I could trust!!

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Feb 21, 2019

Communicated with client regarding the issue. The reordered door is a special size with extended lead times from the supplier. The product is expected to be delivered in the next 3 weeks and installed as soon as received. We will keep in contact with the customer regarding installation

Customer Response • Feb 25, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The business owner left so much out of his response. I was concerned that I could not get a response of any kind after the wrong storm door was almost completely installed. I caught the error (door opened on wrong side) and the subcontractor removed the door. After that point I could not get any info regarding the correct door.

My order was a special order; projected to take 6-8 weeks. Long after that time had passed, I finally tracked down my salesman (who I had given a check for half the order). I was then informed the order had arrived but the storm door was dented and had to be reordered. Again, no communication. It was decided to go ahead and install the front door and wait for the storm door. At that point, I began my wait.

I had to stuff some foam insulation under and around the door all winter to fill in holes and gaps around my over 2k $ door.

I told the owner I hoped he had put a rush on this missing storm door but he basically said it's up to the supplier. I also told him I do not want the same installer coming back.

His response to his not returning my calls was that he was very busy. He lists four different phone #s; I left messages almost daily on these #s.

I am really ashamed of my front entrance. I waited a long time to be able to order my door and I am very disappointed. The color doesn't even match the paint chip in my brochure. But I was prepared to repaint it this Spring. Not so much anymore.

Not fulfilling warranty of windows during lifetime of ownership.
The prior owner, ***, purchased windows from Olde Town Windows some years ago. With this purchase, she was provided with a guarantee that if anything should go wrong with her windows during her entire term of living at the residence, the windows would be replaced. Prior to these owners selling their home, they contacted Olde Town for issues on many of their windows. This issues involve many windows falling to one side when opening and not staying up when they are opened. Olde Town reps came to her house a few times, but kept giving her a run around about not being able to get the parts, and other excuses. The windows never got fixed. My family moved into this home in December of 2017. I called Olde Town to ask them why this was never fixed, and was told there was new ownership now, and they'd send a rep to see if they could help. *** came to our house and looked at all of the windows that needed repair and said he'd talk to the owner and get back with me. When he called me back, he said they could not honor the warranty since it's under new ownership, and it would cost me $300-400 to get the repairs done. They did have records of the prior owner having someone here, but said the warranty would not transfer. I argued the fact that she tried getting them fixed while living here, but he said his hands were tied. He told me to call the owner ***, and talk to him. I called several times, but was not able to reach him nor did I get a call back. It is much strong belief that it is their obligation to fix all of these windows, since the prior owner did contact them and they did not provide the service they promised.

Desired Outcome

Any and all of the windows that come off track or slide down need repaired at no more cost than the $75 service fee.

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Nov 28, 2018

This project was completed in 1994 almost 25 yrs ago for *** the previous owner of the home at that time not ***. *** is the new owner.
The warranty was not transferable. If the Warranty was in effect it does not cover labor after one year. Following the first year all labor is chargeable.
The previous owner would have also paid labor charges. We are under no obligation to repair the windows as requested under warranty at no charge. We would repair the the windows charging service labor as quoted.

Customer Response • Nov 29, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
As I mentioned before, the previous owner had asked this service to be completed and it was not done. This warranty was not honored for the previous owner and the job was not completed when she contacted you. If it had been, I wouldn't be needing to contact you. $300-400 in labor charges to replace simple parts, as I was told us the issue, is outrageous. What good is a warranty if you aren't going to honor it?

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Nov 30, 2018

Labor charges are only one year per the warranty. Labor would be charged regardless, it is chargeable per any warranty. There is a possibility of reduced labor but not $75 as requested. I will review with service with expected hrs required and give a specific estimate based on our estimated time

Customer Response • Dec 04, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Please let me know the amended labor charge. Hopefully we can come to a resolution

They installed windows that have proven to be defective.
Receipt for original purchase is dated 12-16-99. Even though it is long ago, I also have a lifetime warranty that is Non ProRated and clearly covers the 'seal' that has proven defective. They came out and measured the windows in June and said that they would order new ones and that they "had a problem with a manufacturer" back when mine were installed. They said that they would call back to schedule a time that they could install. I never heard anything back and now cannot get them to return my phone call. I even suggested that they get me the windows and I would get them installed if needed....still no call back.

Desired Outcome

If they cannot get me the replacement windows then I want a full refund of the original contract amount of $3,887 and an additional $1,113 ($5,000 total). The additional is due to the fact that I will now have to start over with a new supplier and have them come measure for new windows....and obviously pay more than I did back in 1999.

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Aug 29, 2018

Installation of the service glass is scheduled for friday 8/31/18. This was scheduled on tuesday 8/28/18 with Mr ***. These are failed insulated glass units that are being installed and replaced By Olde Towne. The glass manufacturer is no longer in business. We needed to get sizes and order custom glass and then schedule. this should be resolved by the end of the week

Customer Response • Sep 02, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The job is not complete yet. There was an issue with some mis-sized glass so there are still some defective windows that need replaced. Once these are complete this can be closed...not until. I was told that this could take up to 3 or 4 weeks due to delay time of manufacturing the glass.....hopefully installation will be completed right after.

I purchased new windows and needed to add to the order and I was also missing parts to the installed windows. I can't get the business to return call
Ordered approximately 13 windows with installation. I needed to add two windows to original order, which I did. After waiting several weeks I called and left message after message asking about the additional 2 windows I needed and to ask for parts that were missing from original installation. I have left approximately 10 messages and I have not gotten a return call.

Desired Outcome

I have already found the additional two windows that I needed. I would however like to get the parts that I'm missing from the original windows I had installed by this company.

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Mar 29, 2018

Contact will be made with customer and missing parts replaced

Customer Response • Apr 30, 2018

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
The business rectified my problem by providing me with the needed parts.

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Apr 30, 2018

Contacted the client and the required service parts were delivered. The complaint has been resolved. Delay in response was due to change in management at Olde Towne, Management issues have been corrected.

Olde towns will not return calls and two windows I bought last year are defective and guaranteed for life. Went to the business and not open.

We have contacted the store numerous times and called numerous times with no positive results. They do not return calls and sometimes you cannot leave a message as their mail box is full.
Product_Or_Service: they installed 9 windows and a sliding door

Desired Outcome

Replacement The seal has a lifetime warranty, they need to fix the window.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
still need to note the incorrect company is listed on this complaint, the company is ABC not Olde Town Windows. the response is from ABC. I do hope to hear from ABC but I am not holding my breathe.

In October of 2016 I noticed my glass pane in my window had silver dots inside between the panes of glass. I contacted old Towne Windows and doors via phone. We scheduled a site inspection and was apparent that the glass seal was damaged. I followed up a few weeks later in wanting to know the status of the issue and when the replacement glass/window would be arriving. I was told 4-8 weeks the service techs would be out to reinstall. Early January, I called the store and asked when the installation would happen and got told that all of the glass had been ordered that they knew of and somehow they could not give me a date when the service techs would be installing replacement glass.
Me and my wife tried to go into this business during business hours in late January/early feburary 2017. The doors were all locked and we tried calling several numbers listed on their website and they all went to answering machine and left messages. No calls back. On February 13, 2017 I was able to find the owner working in the *** construction business in Norwalk Ohio and actually talk to him. I stated my name, my problem and when I expect anything to happen on this issue. He stated that he would have to check the office and see where the paperwork was, but seems to remember that their was an issue going on at my house. After that no more contact had been made on either party.
Product_Or_Service: Replacement windows
Order_Number: ***. Invoice

Desired Outcome

Replacement I would like a replacment glass/window installed. I purchased these windows in 2011 and would like this manufacture warranty issue completed. If I need to use a different local contractor to complete this job in a timely manner, It would be acceptable to me.

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Apr 09, 2018

We have contacted the customer and determined the required glass panel. Glass is on order with the supplier and will be replaced once received

Yes, I am happy they are moving forward on this repair.
I will try and stay positive about forward movement on this claim.

Storm Door installed by Olde Towne

Storm door purchased on August 10, 2016 and installed by Olde Towne Remodeling and Restoration. Spline is missing from the storm door screen and the door does not fit correctly on the left side of the frame. Also the door handle has a tarnish mark. This product has a warranty on it. I have left messages for this company to call. Their phone numbers have been disconnected except of one and that mail box is full. This company seems to have vanish and left their customers with no service on their products.

Desired Outcome

i would like my door repair and the company to honor their warranty.

Olde Towne Remodeling & Restoration Response • Mar 29, 2018

Contact will be made with the customer and a a service scheduled to determine the problem
