After checking my credit report, I found a collection filed against me from Online Services. The collection was from a local cable account that did not belong to me. The cable company advised only submitting the name and address where the account was held. Further investigation revealed Online Svcs conducted a People Search, locating my name and applied the collection to my social security number. I was told by legal advisor that it is the collection agency's responsibility to confirm and verify the identity before submitting the collection to the Credit Bureau.A TransUnion representative advised this action did have an adverse effect on my credit score as well as interest rate on finance loan. Spoke with the manager, [redacted], whom displayed a demeanor as if it was my fault. He insisted I was notified by mail, but denied that it was sent by certified mail nor could provide a copy of the letter upon request. Faulty collections process with refusal to delete a reportafter being told they'd do so with payment.I moved in October 2014. I received a notice months later from this collection agency. I called [redacted] and explained that I never got a final bill at the correct address and I asked that with payment this error be deleted off my credit score. Upon trying to prequalify for a mortgage I found two weeks ago that the balance was reported paid in full but not deleted. They keep telling me I'm lying about deleting in and I am not. This is a violation of the fair reporting act. I have made many phone calls to both companies. Last week, the manager [redacted] told me my account was paid in full with payments of 25.00, 25.00, and 38.15 which was a total of 88.15 that covered my bill.[redacted] said they didn't receive one of the payments and that I still owed them 25.00. I was assured by online collections that they sent the money and it was a zero balance. Today I received a call from [redacted] that all of the sudden online collections is claiming they made an error and they are putting a balance back on. This is absolutely bogus. I am being asked to produce payment receipts for a collection that I paid that THEY messed up from two years ago. This circus is keeping me from getting a mortgage. A collection agency can't say you paid something then when asked to fix it say oops! sorry we made a mistake. I want this deleted from my account immediately and I want this problem fixed NOW. This is ridiculous. I am a person who does not pay my bills late and this one organization is screwing up my life. I want the bill with [redacted] fixed and I want it off my credit report as they have absolutely prolonged a negative report with their errors regardless.Desired SettlementI want the situation settled with [redacted] If owe [redacted] money, I will pay them, but this needs to be taken out of the hands of this collection agency and off my report.
