Initial Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2016/04/10) */
Unbeknownst to me, [redacted] is the daughter of [redacted] one of my oldest and dearest friends.
[redacted] father and I grew up together, played sports together, went to school together, and were both fellow Marines having served in...

Viet Nam. [redacted] even purcased his first car from my father.
My wife and I spent many weekends with [redacted] while we both served in the Marine Corps. After, knowing each other for sixty years we still saw each other regulalry and associated together with friends from grade school, junior and senior highschools.
[redacted] was a frequent dinner guest of my wife and I. He even spent last Christmas at my house for dinner.
Sadly, [redacted] and her father have been estranged for as long I can remember; though I never put two and two together; i.e. that [redacted] was [redacted]'s daughter.
Out of respect, admiration and affetcion for Tery my response to Ms. [redacted]'s allegations is brief.
I learned of the alledged broken water line from [redacted] Ms. [redacted]'s boyfriend and a signatory to our construction contract. [redacted] called me at home one evening and informed me that there was water on the kitchen floor and that [redacted] was in a rage.
At seven-thirty the next morning I visited Ms. [redacted]'s house to inspect the damage and determine where the water was coming from.
My employee was agast at Ms [redacted] conduct. He informed me that the previous evening [redacted] had told him that she really liked the work that he had performed. He also said he knew nothing of a broken water line when he left the house after working there all day.
We do know that water had been dripping in the corner of the bathroom for an exteneded period of time. My partner [redacted] infomred [redacted] of this fact after we had removed the drywall behind the washer. We cut out a peiece of the 2x4" bottom plate to show [redacted] I still have this piece of rotted wood.
Ms. [redacted] would not allow me to look at the broken water lin, speak to me or my employee or even pick-up our tools. She summarily kicked us out of her house.
I am certain Ms. [redacted] would not disagree with me that her boyfriend, [redacted] approached me at [redacted]'s funeral and shook my hand.
Respectfully, [redacted], owner of Rice Construction

That is really sad that you are more concerned about explaining my father and his passing. I don't think it was, Out of respect, admiration and affection for my father. I am 37 years old and have NEVER heard this mans name before, so they are not as close as he is portraying. My mom had no idea who he was either. My mom and dad were married almost 20 years. My father and I were NOT estranged as you would like people to believe, which again is just sad that you would say after I have lost my dad, and again I don't think that was, Out of respect, admiration and affection for my dad. I think it says a lot about his character though. My dad was not friends with [redacted]. My dad had a REALTIONHSHIP with [redacted] WIFE, if we are going to air dirty laundry.
I STRONGLY DISAGREE, the hand shake from [redacted] was not out of respect for you, my mom begged him to not throw you out and make a scene!!! I am really sure that in the process of said hand shake it was not a friendly one since you were followed out the door and thanked for leaving my father's funeral!!!
As for the floor. I have gone ahead and got my homeowner's insurance involved and they will be contacting Mr [redacted]'s insurance company. As for the wood he claims he removed from my home without permission like the brand new window he left with, there was no rotted wood on the right side of my room. I have had it inspected and it was agreed that there was nothing wrong with the wood before. So you are aware the wood he is claiming he removed came from the left side of the room where my washer was sitting not the right side were the dryer is. [redacted] cut my water line to the fridge, which is on the right side of my room not the left, causing a water leak into my kitchen. The washer had nothing to do with the leak that was caused. The water line to my fridge that was cut was also given to the insurance adjuster. We know that it was the water line to the fridge because as soon as we shut it off the water stopped. The gentleman that claims he knew nothing of a water line leak the night before is the same man who said he stuffed the water line under the bathtub because he thought it was leaking. Told me he could fix it but he had only been working for [redacted] 2 days and was hired to hang drywall and didn't get paid enough to fix it. So when My boyfriend came home and I told him what was said is when we realized the it put a LEAKING water line under the bathtub that is directly behind my kitchen sink, causing the kitchen floor to be flooded and ruined!!

My name is [redacted]. I am the owner of [redacted] Construction. I have been in business for 45 years. I believe my record of fairness speaks for itself.
I installed a new roof on a portion of Mr. Mrs [redacted]'s house. The roof leaked....

After inumerable times trying to detect the roof leak, to no avail, I hiresd a thermagraher to find the source of water infiltration. The roof leaked on a portion of the roof that the owners decided not to have me repair.
During this distreesful time, the owners also filed a complaint against me with the office of the Indiana Attorney General. I responded in much more detail to the Attorney Generals inquiry. And, in fact, I made an offer to the AG to split the cost of repairs with the owners. They declined my offer. I have not heard back from the AG.
Interestingly, two months ago Mrs. [redacted] called me and asked if we could settle this issue. I said yes and the next day recived the complaint from the AG. It is my opinion that the Higginbothams are not dealing in good faith and are unwilling to acknowledge that much of their anguish is self inflicted.

Dear Ms. Firestone,
In response to Mr. [redacted] (aka) Don Rice Construction. We did have a minor leak detected after the major roof leaks were repaired. We did not have him repair this do to his neglect of the problems we had with his repairs and untimely response to fix the previous problems we experienced with the contractor. Our grief began when the roofing and siding began to come loose after the job was completed and he was paid. He continued to tell us, and I quote his response: "I will taken care of if". He has removed the siding that was coming loose, cut a hole in our ceiling and removed the wall where the water was infiltrating our house. We did contact the Attorney Generals office in Indianapolis only because he would not respond to our calls and complaints to fix the leaks. His response was that he would repair the damages that were we left behind if we would pay him to do so. He has left our house unfinished and has not dealt in good faith as he has mentioned. The anguish and grief we have experienced from him has been due to his neglect, unprofessional conduct on the phone and poor workmanship. We will not be extorted for more money for a job that was paid in full and then left undone and abandoned. He has not lived up to his promises. We have been left with a pile of unusable siding that was removed. We are out over $2500.00 for the repairs that were left by this contractor. I have included photos in an attachment.

Hi [redacted]:Thank you for the follow up. This customer is confusing this invoice with the part in question. The attached invoice he sent over was for a different kit he purchased from us, which we already did offer him two free replacement ballasts (Please see the attached replacement invoice [redacted]).The part in question was called Raptor Slim kit, instead of DDM Slim kit. Raptor Slim kit only came with 1 year warranty.  Best Regards, [redacted]DDM Tuning
