PA Turnpike Commission Reviews (25)

Review: On August 9, I drove to the PA Turnpike from [redacted], PA [redacted]. Apparently there was a very small sign somewhere near the entrance saying that the entrance was for ** pass holders only. My view must have been obstructed because I could not see it. When arriving at the entrance and realizing that the entrance was for ** pass holders only, I was forced to proceed since there was no safe way to turn around or exit to take.

When I arrived at the toll plaza, I was forced to pay the maximum fare of $33.80

If the turnpike commission won't allow tickets to be available for folks without ** pass, then they have to display a much LARGER sign (preferably multiple signs), or provide a safe way to exit. They didn't do any of that. It seems as though they're intentionally trying to take advantage of out-of-towners to pay for the highway by forcing them to pay the maximum fare. In this case, instead of paying around $1, I was charged $33.80!!! In the banking industry, this would be a UDAAP violation ( unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices). The turnpike commission needs to be held accountable to the same standards! I'd at least like the portion of my payment that should never have been collected to be fully refunded.Desired Settlement: Provide a refund equal to the amount I was overcharged (approx $32)

Review: the toll both I was to go through (and pay my cash toll of $17.50) was closed due to construction (night time). All traffic on toll route [redacted] West was diverted through an E-Zpass lane. I even stopped to talk to woman at toll both and she assured me I wouldnt be billed because all traffic had to go through. Still, I get a bill for $83.75! Id be happy to pay the 16.50, but after multiple attempts to call, and now a letter from their collections company, no resolution has been reached. They did not send the appeal by mail I had asked for (a month ago), and no one in accounts department will speak to me on phone.Desired Settlement: I just want to pay the $17.50 I owe. The remaining $66.25 should be their problem. I run a small roofing business in [redacted], PA. I can not bill people for the mistakes my workers, nor should I. So why should I pay for extra charges resulting from poor communication on the part of EZPass?PA EZpass also needs to make the correction with their collections company [redacted]. please just have someone call me so we can fix this! thank you Revdex.com, you guys are the only solution here ###-###-####

June 9, 2014Dear [redacted].We are responding to the above ID number filed by [redacted].[redacted] was issued a violation notice when he exited our roadway through an E-ZPass lane but did not have a valid EZPass. The toll amount listed on the violation notice was for a full fare since we did not have information that identified [redacted]s point of entry. He indicated that construction near his entry point prevented him from obtaining a ticket that would verify his entry point. While [redacted] was not able to identify the specific entry point, he did indicate that it was near [redacted]. After attempting to locate information that would indicate the point of entry, it was determined that [redacted] had made several trips and knew the toll amount due to be approximately 15 to 17. The Commission agreed to adjust the toll amount due for this customer and waive the administration fee. The agreed upon payment was received from this Customer. The Commission now considers the matter resolved.Sincerely,

Review: I ordered my 2nd [redacted] for my wife's car. The person who I ordered it told me they would also include a transponder for my Motorcycle. When I received the Transponder for my 2nd vehicle, the one for my motorcycle was not included. When I called to ask why, I was told they do not do that????? The only way I could get one was to pay another fee. This is clearly not what was represented. Thank You in advance for any help.Desired Settlement: Give me my transponder I was promised for my Motorcycle.

October 27, 2014Dear [redacted]Your complaint from the Revdex.com (Revdex.com) was forwarded to me for response. In investigating the allegations made in your complaint, our records indicate that the Customer Service Representative (CSR) who spoke to you back in July 2013 advised that the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) would replace the current transponder on your account without a fee. While I know that you believe the CSR was referring to providing you with a free motorcycle transponder, our program does not allow additional transponders be added to an [redacted] account without a payment. While misunderstandings do occur, the PTC's [redacted] Agreement indicates that a payment of $35 is required for each transponder on the account. We apologize for any confusion that occurred. However, we are unable to grant your request to add an additional transponder for your motorcycle without charging your account appropriately.Sincerely,Laura M. Manager of ETC Customer Service Operations

Review: On 3-2-2013 I entered the ramp at [redacted] for the PA turnpike without seeing it was a toll road because the ramp was DARK, the entrance lights were NOT FUNCTIONING. There I couldn't see any signs, I looked for a place to turn around not knowing where I was, but there was no place to make a U turn. I got to the toll plaza and explained to the toll taker what had happened and he told me he would have to charge me FULL PRICE and I would have to send his documents AND my RECEIPT to the Turnpike commission to get a refund. I did what he told me to do and I recently received a letter DENYING me refund and THEY KEPT THE DOCUMENTS I SENT!!! I would like a refund of overpayment because I don't believe I was wrong and I did what the Tolltaker told me to do. Thank you for any help you can give me.Desired Settlement: Refund of OVERPAYMENT. I was only on the turnpike from [redacted] to [redacted]. I think I should only be charged for THAT MILEAGE.

Review: On December 2nd, 2012, I was traveling from [redacted] to [redacted]. While passing through Pennsylvania I used a toll road run by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Authority. I have an EZ-Pass in my vechicle, purchased in my home state of [redacted], yet the EZ-Pass lanes failed to pick up on it, as I later got a violation notice in the mail. I disputed this claim as I was, and am, a valid EZ-Pass customer. I mailed them the required information about the violations, as well as an account statement showing that I was a valid customer in good standing. I subsequently received a reply stating that their records show I am not a valid customer, due to my EZ-Pass being reported lost or stolen. I called The EZ-Pass Violation Processing Center to discuss these claims. I was told that their system showed that my EZ-Pass had been reported lost or stolen, even though I never made such a report, and the EZ-Pass had never once left the windshield of my vehicle. I then called the EZ-Pass in [redacted] where I obtained my EZ-Pass to confirm that I was in fact a valid customer in good standing. [redacted] confirmed with me that my EZ-Pass was never reported lost or stolen, that I was a valid customer, and my EZ-Pass was fully useable in Pennsylvania. [redacted] not only had no idea why Pennsylvania would tell me my EZ-Pass was reported lost or stolen, but also that Pennsylvania had no way of knowing such information, as the two states systems did not communicate with each other in that way. I called back to Pennsylvania to relay this information. Their systems still showed my EZ-Pass as lost or stolen. I was also informed that their systems said I had two EZ-Passes, while I only have one. The one in my vehicle having been reported lost or stolen, while the other mysterious EZ-Pass was valid. Eventually I was told that the issues would be straightened out. Today I received a letter of collections from [redacted], on behalf of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission. I attempt to contact the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission in another attempt to get this ordeal straightened out, but they are closed. I then try to contact [redacted], only to have the operator refuse to listen to my concerns. As I'm trying to talk to the operator about my situation she only accuses me of lying and being in the wrong about the whole situation, while continually repeating to me the amount they say I owe. At this point I am extremely upset and bothered by the entire situation, and determine nothing will come of my attempts at resolution. I have been mistakenly charged with an EZ-Pass fine, my attempts at resolving this error had been futile, and have been sent to collections instead of having the situation resolved.Desired Settlement: I want the fines placed on me by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission cleared, as well as the cancellation of order of collections.
