Payoff Reviews (%countItem)

This company only operates in california. I have never applied for financial services from this company. ANd according to their info, they do no provide services to people outside of their state. Why are they pulling my credit on these dates? 06/13/2018, 04/13/2018, 01/16/2018, 12/12/2017 . I want to be taken off of their list. I want my records destroyed and if I see another pull I will sue them in court.

Payoff, Inc. is in receipt of your Revdex.com complaint, and we appreciate the time you took to bring your concern regarding a soft inquiry on your credit by Payoff. We take your concern seriously and appreciate the opportunity to respond fully to it.

Payoff is a financial services company that offers loans to customers for paying off their credit card debt in most states in USA. You may have received a pre-screened marketing piece introducing the Payoff® Loan to you. During the selection process for recipients of pre-screened marketing pieces, Payoff initiates a "soft inquiry" to determine whether you would be a good fit for the Payoff® Loan. A soft inquiry is only visible to you and Payoff and does not affect your overall credit score. If you do not want to receive prescreened offers of credit from Payoff and other companies, call the consumer credit reporting Agencies at 1-888-567-*** or visit the website at www.optoutprescreen.com

Our records indicate that no application for a loan was made under your name, address, and/or birthdate. We understand that receiving pre-screened mail or soft inquiry on your credit can be frustrating and we appreciate you reaching out to us to address your concerns.

If you have any additional concerns do not hesitate to contact me directly at (949) 430-*** extension 650 or by email at ***@payoff.com. Neel *** (Compliance Manager)

I applied for a loan with Payoff after being rejected by several other banks and organizations. I was approved immediately, asked to submit additional paperwork, and had my funds 9 days later. The Payoff team was extremely responsive to all of my inquiries and reached out to me several times to keep me on track for submitting my documentation. I appreciate everything they have done for me so far and I would absolutely recommend Payoff to friends and family in need. Thank you again!

I received a letter in the mail from the company saying I was preapproved for a loan. As such I filled out the necessary application and supplied all the required documents. I incurred costs for doing so and I would like those costs to be reimbursed.

Customer Response • Jun 28, 2018

I did not reach out to have a loan extended to me but rather the business payoff reached out to me.

Payoff Response • Jul 19, 2018

I am sorry, but we still stand by our decision and previous response to the customer. It’s against company policy to reimburse applicant for any expenditures voluntarily incurred during the application process. As Payoff’s application process is in an electronic format to mitigate submission costs to an applicant.

unacceptable

Negative- Payoff Inc. is a joke of a company. Took them 4 weeks to finally get a answer to me. I would highly recommend no one to use this company!

Payoff, Inc. is in receipt of your Revdex.com review and we appreciate the time you took to bring the issue you experienced during a loan application to our attention. We take your concerns seriously and appreciate the opportunity to respond fully to them. You expressed concern over Payoff’s loan application process timing. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Payoff has a credit policy in place and must review certain credit criteria, including verifying income documents. Our first concern is that, in facilitating the funding of a loan to a consumer, we do not put the consumer in a worse position as a result of the loan. We want to help people pay off their debt once and for all. We understand it can be frustrating having to wait for a final decision on your loan application. However, the review time is dependent upon the complexity of the individual application. Our process requires that we fully review an application to ensure that an extension of credit will be beneficial to the consumer. If you have any additional concerns do not hesitate to contact me directly at *** extension *** or by email at

I am a young professional looking for a personal loan to payoff credit card debt incurred as an irresponsible teen. After reviewing multiple companies, I decided to apply for Payoff. I submitted my application with all requested documents and the waiting game began. A week exactly from my application I send an email to check the status. I get an automated reply that it’s being reviewed. A few hours later I get a call from a snarky employee who clearly doesn’t want to be at work asking me to unlock my credit with the three bureaus. I tell him my credit is unlocked and while I have him on the phone I pull up the bureaus to make sure everything is unlocked. I tell him to try running it again to which he replies, “how’d you do it so fast you might want to double check” I’m staring at my screen with all three bureaus showing unlocked while this is happening. He then rudely tells me to do it again and let them know when I have. At this point it’s not worth my energy so I say sure and hang up. I then send an email to withdraw my application and boy were they fast to respond to that. These people are low energy and have awful customer service. I just submitted an application with another company and have been instantly approved because I submitted everything requested right away. Save yourself the energy and anger with the slackers at payoff.

Their advertising leads you to believe they can help anyone. Their Ads on Instagram are misleading. In a nutshell, you have good credit to get help paying off your credit cards.... let me rephrase again... in order to get help from PayOff to help you manage and pay off your current debt & credit cards, they require you to have already good credit. If your score is below 640, they won't help you better your credit. They're here to only help those with already credit.
Then as I come to post my review, I see other complaints about getting no help and they listed their credit scores in the 700s. The whole point in a consumer like myself finding interest in them is because we want manage the current debt we have in order to build our credit more. The Ads lead me to believe I would be able to have Payoff help manage my current credit card balances/debt/etc. If I were to actually get that help then I could count on my credit not changing and no raise in interest BUT no, they lied.

Payoff, Inc. is in receipt of your Revdex.com review and we appreciate the time you took to bring the issue you experienced during a loan application to our attention. We take your concerns seriously and appreciate the opportunity to respond fully to them. You expressed concern over Payoff’s Instagram advertisement which led you to feel that the ad is misleading due to minimum credit score requirement at Payoff’s platform. Payoff has a credit policy in place and must review certain credit criteria, including credit score to ensure a consumer’s ability to repay the loan for which they are applying. Our first concern is that, in facilitating the funding of a loan to a consumer, we do not put the consumer in a worse position as a result of the loan. We want to help people pay off their debt once and for all. We understand it can be frustrating to not be approved due to ones credit score, however, we would like to assure you that Payoff’s advertisement follows all the applicable regulatory advertising requirements. Payoff Response

Payoff, Inc. is in receipt of your Revdex.com review and we appreciate the time you took to bring the issues you experienced in applying for a loan on the Payoff Platform to our attention. We take your concerns seriously and appreciate the opportunity to respond fully to them.

You expressed your frustration with the overall loan application process, including incorrect reporting information that resulted in a denial. Payoff has certain requirements and must review certain documents in order to ensure a consumer’s ability to repay the loan for which they are applying. Our first concern is that, in facilitating the funding of a loan to a consumer, we do not put the consumer in a worse position as a result of the loan. We want to help people pay off their debt once and for all. If the loan offered on the Payoff Platform does not help a consumer, our Bank partner will not make the loan.

We understand it can be frustrating having to wait for a final decision and regret any inconvenience caused to you as a result of the time spent during the application process.

Again, to Payoff, our customer’s betterment is of the utmost importance. We do not want to facilitate a loan that does not make economic sense to a customer. Only through a thorough underwriting process can we determine the suitability of the Payoff Loan to a consumer. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at ***.

Bait and switch!!! Lures you in with one rate, do the application, have to send in document after document after document....then they give you a NEW loan APR....and now this new rate is higher than my credit cards. WASTE OF TIME. I have mid 700's credit, no mortgage, and do not appreciate this switch at all. SCAM!!!

You expressed your concern over having received pre-qualified offers for a Payoff® Loan. You received initial loan offers pursuant to information you provided during the application process. Customer Response

Definition of bait and switch: the action (generally illegal) of advertising goods that are an apparent bargain, with the intention of substituting inferior or more expensive goods. OR a sales tactic in which a customer is attracted by the advertisement of a low-priced item but is then encouraged to buy a higher-priced one OR the ploy of offering a person something desirable to gain favor then thwarting expectations with something less desirable. This is what you guys are doing, even if you try and justify your actions. Stop giving out APRs that you KNOW are false!!!

I sent a check through the United States Postal Service on 6/23/17 by Priority Mail. I have the tracking # and it states Payoff received this check on 6/26/17. No one at Payoff can show this payment being applied to my account, however the credit card company I am using shows the check is pending my account. How can it be pending if PayOff doesn't have it posted to my account. Everyone I have talked to states they cant give me any additional information and that the Dept I mailed it to is just a box drop off. Someone had to receive my check if Citibank is showing it is pending my account. Not being able to speak with someone that actually knows what's going on with my account is not good customer service. I am still waiting on a Manager to return my call.

Payoff Response

Payoff, Inc. is in receipt of the complaint you filed with the Revdex.com. We appreciate the time you took to bring the issues you experienced in paying off your loan to our attention and for the time you took speaking with me this morning. We take your concerns seriously and appreciate the opportunity to respond fully to them in this letter.

You expressed your frustration over the time it took for your payment to post to your Payoff account. We understand that you sent a hard copy check to pay off the balance of your loan on June 23, 2017 via priority mail. That check, according to your records, arrived at Payoff’s lockbox on June 26, 2017. The payment was posted to your account on July 3, 2017. It can take between three and five business days for a hard copy check retrieved from our lockbox to post to a member account due to varying mail delivery times which may include weekends and holidays and confirmation of funds availability from the bank that issued the check.

I personally spoke to the manager of Member Experience and confirmed that he did call you at 8:56 AM on July 6, 2017. He left you a voicemail to inform you know that your payment had posted on July 3, 2017 and that your account was paid in full.

We apologize if you were displeased with the time it took us to apply to your payment to your account. We do, however, want to congratulate you on paying off your loan and wish you well on your future financial journey.

If you should have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at or via email and ***@payoff.com
