Pemco Insurance Company Reviews (38)

My car was broken into almost two months ago and my vehicle still has not been repairedI keep getting tossed around to different claims adjusters (so far) and have to start the process over completely each timeEmailing pictures, quotes, discussing damage etcThen I have had to put in multiple calls and emails and speak with supervisors to get a responseMy policy states that I have the right to choose where I want my vehicle to be fixed and it will be fully coveredThe place I chose to have my vehicle repaired is the dealership my car came fromPEMCO claims adjuster had me take the time off of work and out of my day to bring my car to the dealership to get a written quote doneI had to do this twice and she said that it was completely acceptable to have the work done thereShe was processing my claim and told me she would be issuing a check within seven business days and then stopped Contacting me suddenlyShe didn’t return any calls or voicemailsI had to reach out to he

I was with PEMCO for 26yrs and they decided to jack my auto insurance rates over 40% for no apparent reason other than they told me repair costs and medical costs have risen over the yearsI highly recommend using another company for auto insurance Unacceptable and should be illegal to jack rates that much

I was a loyal Pemco customer for two years--first with auto insurance, then later with homeowners I always made my payments on time After I bought my home, a wind storm brought trees down on my house, so I had to file claims for the first time Pemco paid the claims, but then sent me a letter telling me that I am being dropped because Pemco can't insure me anymore I think this is a terrible way to treat a customer

PEMCO sent notice to an address in California that I have not lived at for well over years, attempting to notify that they were going to non-renew my policy because I no longer lived in Oregon or Washington
I in fact live in Oregon at this time, the two years prior to this time, and currently The letter was not received, as it was for a very old address
They then are stating the policy that expired on November 27, is not able to be renewed since it is past days, on January 9, This is nowhere near accurate, as that is not even days ago, but they are unable to provide any response of any kind why November 27th to January 9, is "over days"

I was a customer of Pemco for about Months They were charging me a reasonable $per month Then without warning, they raised my rate to $per month That is an increase of almost $per year and represents about 45% increaseThere was no explanation as to this huge increase I had no accidents and made no claims with Pemco The only thing I can possibly think of is that I turned Applying such an increase due to being one year older is age discrimination is that is the case I have tried contacting Pemco to get an explanation of this increase but there has been no response

Ok, I'd say watch out for these folksThey come across as the nicest locals that would be considered a traditional insurance company and hint toward regionalism, etc., but have not real differentiation from a larger impersonal insurance firmThink AIG pre melt
Great sales person, horrible customer service / adjustorUnhelpful yet also condescending and rude

I was told that my insurance rates went up $per month due to the amount of accidents that happenedSo that rate is being passed down to me, the consumer, who follows the laws I live in a rural area and its not my fault they are loosing money on claims Raise the other persons rates, not mine

I have been a customer of Pemco Insurance for consecutive yearsOver that time period I have only had a total of claims - two $tow fees and one $cracked windshieldAfter those claims my monthly fees always would increase by a minumum of $When I would call to inquire, I would be told it's because I needed to pay them back for the claimsEven though I've given them an average of $1200-per year for my premiumI don't understand why I am paying them a monthly coverage fee when I have to pay them back for every little claimRecently I moved to a new area and got a new job in the process and called Pemco to update my mailing address (months prior to finishing out my year contract)They increased my premium due to this new zip code (which I understand the reasoning for that) but then told me I had to pay off the new premium, which is $higher then my original premium I started with for this year's contractI told them I understood the increase for the zip

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:While I understand your business policy with the detailed explanation you have given, for me the numbers don't add up to the same on my end with my paperwork. First off, you said the remaining balance I owed from May 16th to November 14th 2017 was $219.86.  But my numbers show I only owed $147.58 for the remaining months. Here are my calculations (based off my contract of paying 20% down the first month and the rest over the course of 8 months): My beginning premium was 1,263.52 for November 14, 2016 to November 14, 2017. I paid $256.71 in November 2016 for the first payment. I then paid $130.36 per month from December 2016 to April 2017. I called in late April verifying that I had bought a house (but had not moved in yet until the end of May) and was given the benefit of a homeowner discount which lowered my annual premium to $1,168.05. My May payment was lowered to $111.96. So, 256.71+(130.36 x 5 months)+111.96 = 1,020.47.  1,168.05-1,020.47= 147.58 for the remaining balance of the previous premium. So this is where part of my confusion comes in - are you using my original premium at the start of the contract to calculate what I still owe you? Because I am not seeing where you are getting the remaining balance of $219.86. As for the additional $168.89 to make up for the difference of the new premium of 1,506.48, this still leaves me with one of my previous complaints/confusions - why am I ending up having to pay for a FULL YEAR of a premium that only applies for the last 2 months of my payments? You are charging me a full new premium as if I have lived at this new address since November of 2016, that's what I don't understand. Why is this not pro-rated?Please help me understand this. Thank you.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

[redacted],   We’re sorry there’s still confusion regarding the premium change due to your move and amounts remaining due for your automobile insurance coverage.   With your move May 16, 2017 to zip code 98258, your premium calculation changed.  This new ZIP Code generated an additional premium of $168.89 for the time period of May 16, 2017, through Nov. 14, 2017 (6 Months).      Your move did not impact your premium between Nov. 15, 2016, through May 15, 2017.  The $168.89 is the premium charged for the time period of May 16, 2017, through Nov. 14, 2017.   It might be helpful to see a breakdown of the premiums charged and payments made.  Please note the $4.00 service fee is not considered part of the premium payment.  The premium and premium adjustment column lists the debits and credits that adjusted the premium.   The total adjusted annual premium of $1,377.22 at the bottom of the chart is the total amount you will pay in premium for coverage Nov. 15, 2016, through Nov. 14, 2017 including adjustments (Auto Plus Homeowners discount and Address Change).        Policy Term 11/15/2016 – 11/14/2017   Premium and Premium adjustments Payments Payment Made Running total of Insurance Premiums Beginning Term Premium $1263.52     $1,263.52 Payment Date   Insurance Premium Payment Service Fee   11/8/2016   $252.71 $4.00 $256.71 -$252.71           $ 1,010.81 12/07/2016   $126.36 $4.00 $130.36 -$126.36           $ 884.45 1/4/2017   $126.36 $4.00 $130.36 -$126.36           $758.09 2/10/2017   $126.36 $4.00 $130.36 -$126.36           $631.73 3/2/2017   $126.36 $4.00 $130.36 -$126.36           $ 505.37 4/14/2017   $126.36 $4.00 $130.36 -$126.36           $ 379.01 4/17/2017 Auto Plus Homeowners Discount applied -55.19 (4/17/2017 to 11/14/2017       -$55.19           $ 323.82 5/16/2017 Address change and Vehicle use change applied $168.89 (5/16/2017 to 11/14/2017)       $492.71 5/16/2017   $107.96 $4.00 $111.96 -$107.96           $384.75 6/6/2017   $192.41 $4.00 $196.41 -$196.41           192.34 Total Amount Due   $192.34 $4.00 $196.34   Total adjusted annual Premium after Changes are applied         $1377.22   We hope this addresses your concerns.  If you have any other questions, please call 1-800-GO-PEMCO and ask to speak to a customer service supervisor.

Response to [redacted] complaint. Thank you for the opportunity to respond Mr. [redacted] concern over his recent claim. On November 23, 2016 [redacted] Insurance Company filed a claim for damages on PEMCO Auto PolicyCA [redacted] for an accident that occurred on November 3, 2016. The [redacted] driver,...

[redacted] opened aclaim for injuries sustained from a collision with our policy holder on November 3, 2016. [redacted] putPEMCO on notice of their intent to subrogate for the medical payments made for their policy holder. Theday the claim was reported to PEMCO we contacted our Insured who was also the driver, [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] confirmed that on November 3, 2016 he was involved in a rear end collision with[redacted]. He stated the he felt the other party cut him off so he 'flipped her off'. Shortly thereafterwhile traveling at a low speed, there was contact between the two vehicles. The police were called to thescene, but a police report was not filed because there was no visible damage to either vehicle and neitherdriver claimed an injury. Mr. [redacted] was distressed to discover Ms. [redacted] later reported an injury. The [redacted] driver sought medical treatment for injuries she reported as accident related injuries. Hermedical providers related her injury to the November 3rd collision and submitted them to her autoinsurance carrier. [redacted] Insurance Company accepted that the medical treatment was both reasonable andrelated to the collision. Medical payments were made under her PIP coverage and submitted to PEMCOfor reimbursement. The PEMCO Auto Policy states on page 18:Our Right to SettleWe may settle any claim or suit if we believe it is proper.PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company secured a release from Ms. [redacted] for all claims arising out of theNovember 3rd collision against Mr. [redacted] on February 21, 2017.We understand that Mr. [redacted] also filed a complaint with Office of the Insurance Commissioner andwe are addressing his concerns in that forum.*Please view attached document.

After receiving the complaint, a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the acceptance and decline of Ms. [redacted]’s policy was completed.    On December 23, 2016 the customer spoke with a PEMCO agent completing a quote for home insurance. On December 27, 2016 the PEMCO agent...

sent a binder for proof of insurance to the lender with effective date of January 5, 2017. There was a delay in closing and the effective date of the home policy was changed to January 29, 2017. The home insurance policy was submitted February 2, 2017and held for further review.   On February 3, 2017 a PEMCO underwriter contacted the agent and requested photographs to verify condition and roof type. The PEMCO agent is not in a position to pre-inspect homes or roofs in person when writing new policies. Our practice is to request photographs from the insureds. When the photographs were received on February 13, 2017, the roofing material was found to be ineligible. The customer was notified that coverage would end on March 16, 2017 due to the type of roofing material.   After receiving the complaint, we are examining our processes and agent actions. Also, we have reached out to Ms. [redacted] regarding roof plans and continued coverage.   We are grateful for this information and the opportunity to address the customer’s concerns. Please contact me with any questions or concerns at [redacted].

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
