Perfection Tire and Auto Repair Reviews (33)

Review: On October 30, 2013 I brought in my 1968 [redacted] into Perfection to get brand new tires and wheels put on, along with a front end alignment and a routine oil change. I dropped it off around noon and came back for it at 4:00pm. When I got there they had forgotten to do the oil change so they quickly went back out and grabbed the truck from the lot to bring it in for an oil change. Once I got the truck home and looked more closely at it I noticed a brand new scratch right on the driver's door, about 6 inches above the chrome trim. I called Perfection and they had me bring it right back so they could take a look at it. The guy looked at it and said there was nothing they could do because the paint on the truck is so faded that you would not be able to match the paint. I left feeling like nothing had been accomplished. I called back the next day and told them I felt like something more needed to be done about this. I spoke with the manager, [redacted], on several occasions, every time he kept telling me he would speak to the owner and get back to me. After a week and no reply from Perfection, I feeling like I was being pushed aside because I was a woman trying to deal with it on my own, so I got my dad involved. He too was told basically that there was no proof that they did it, I guess since we can't stand in the bay and watch the mechanic work on it they could do whatever they want to it, and deny anything ever happened. My dad contacted the main office in Spokane, with the same treatment. He was told that the owner of the CDA store would call him, which never occurred either, and they too said no proof they did it, denied all claims. Question is how do you prove anything if customers are denied access from watching the mechanic work on said vehicles, anything could happen and the owner and company just turn their heads the other way. I wanted to use a local businesses and keep the money in the community I live in, but I too am seeing why my Dad and his friends do not use Perfection because there is no trust from the local units, thus why I will stay with chains going forward. I was really sad to see a local owner and company with such poor customer service. The company is trying to say that it is a door ding that happened out in the parking lot and is not their fault. The scratch is definitely not a door ding because the chrome trim would have been hit/scratched if this were the case. I inherited this truck from my grandpa who kept it in immaculate/mint condition with very few scratches on it. Now whenever I get into it I see this brand new scratch on the driver side door.Desired Settlement: If a new pickup had been scratched on the door, the door would get repainted. If I wanted the door repainted any color regardless, it would be about $500. There is no way to repaint the door because of the age and condition of the truck, the paint would not match. I am not expecting for them to pay to get my whole truck repainted, but to refund me the equivalent of painting the door. And having spent over $1000 on the one visit, I dont see this as asking too much in return.

It appears this has been resolved and replacement wheels have been picked up by the customer. The following explanation was received from the store: The wheels loss occurred when [redacted] and [redacted] were running the front counter. I attempted to figure out what breakdown had occurred, whether it was a lapse in communication between us and the customer and/ or a lapse in communication internally. The date the wheels had been left behind was on September 3rd 2013, [redacted] made us aware of the mishap when he came in to get tires installed on his daughters vehicle which was on October 4th 2013. Being that [redacted] and [redacted] are no longer here I had invited the customer who had possession of them at the time of repairs to go through the shop with an employee. [redacted] (customer) and [redacted] (employee) had inspected the building and storage facilities and could not locate the wheels left behind. I had asked [redacted] what kind of wheels had been lost and he described them as being silver steel wheels with a plastic center cap. I had Googled a Jeep steel wheel online and showed him an example. After [redacted] had confirmed the wheels I had Ron order them through the Wheel Barn. The day those wheels came in [redacted] had called in before we had a chance to call him, we had told him the wheels were here. About 2 minutes after getting off of the phone with [redacted], I had received a call from [redacted] (whom I did not know was part of this story). Mr. [redacted] had informed us that the wheels that [redacted] had pointed out were in correct and that the wheels were actually aluminum with a different appearance. So we set out to find a different set of wheels. At this point Mr. [redacted] had called in and talked to [redacted] and had told him that if we could not find wheels he would rather take a check. He had told [redacted] to find a used set and knock off $100.00 due to the condition of the wheels. [redacted] had looked on ebay and found a set for $300.00, so as per customer request [redacted] had notified [redacted] that we had found a set for $300.00 and we can cut him a check for $200.00 and have it ready the next day. Mr. [redacted] now claimed he had these wheels sold for $400.00 and will either take a check for $400.00 or the wheels that once were steel wheels then turned into alloys. I had called Mr. [redacted] to inform him the wheels had come in and he wanted to make sure they matched his spare wheel that he still had and said that [redacted] sent a picture into us by email. [redacted] came in and picked up the wheels and apologized for not emailing the picture

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The response from the business has nothing to do with my complaint and must be referencing another persons complaint.

Response:

The following is the response from owner/manager [redacted].

When customer returned with the vehicle complaining of a new scratch on her door, we went out and inspected the door, along with a body repair man from [redacted]'s Body Shop, who happened to be here at the time. Our findings were that it was more like a small dimple rather than a scratch, and has as much oxidation inside of it as the rest of the paint on the entire truck, indicating that it was not a fresh ding at all. It actually appears more like an old rock chip.

There is no equipment or tools that would have been anywhere near the door of this vehicle while inside of our shop, and there was no work performed near the door of this vehicle. This is a 45 year old truck, with several scratches, and I find it hard to believe that each time she enters her vehicle that she inventories all scratches and dings.

As far as watching the vehicle work being performed, we have large windows that customers can watch from inside of the store, which many do every day. For insurance reasons, customers are not permitted inside of the work bays, which is standard with any shop.

I feel this is a case of someone wanting to take advantage of a business, assuming that we make a large profit on our product, and can afford to make this type of refund without a loss on our part, which would be totally false. The customer even states that they do not intend to repair the door, but they would like to have half of their money back. For what?

I do not feel that Perfection Tire had anything to do with this door ding, and I feel that this customer is way out of line in their desired settlement. However, because we believe in customer satisfaction, we are willing to offer $200.00

Review: My Father [redacted] brought his 1997 [redacted] to the [redacted] in for diagnostics on a fuel pump issue on 10/10/13. The Perfection tire employees stated that the fuel pump did need to be replaced. He had them replace what he thought was just the fuel pump and fuel filter. The total bill came to $808.61 which my father and I thought was higher than the normal pricing that would have been at the [redacted] Dealer. After calling [redacted] for a price quote I found that my father paid at least $350.00 more than he should have. He was charged $475.74 for the fuel pump (which included the sending unit that he did not need), $40.00 to install a fuel filter and a hazardous waste material charge of $25.00. This fuel pump should have cost a little over $200.00 from [redacted] and the labor for the install on the fuel filter should have been included in the 2.6 hours they charged for the pump install ([redacted] quotes only 2.1 hours). My father has the early onset of dementia related Alzheimer's and was greatly taken advantage of by the employee's and owner of the Orofino Perfection tire store. They never disclosed what they were installing and how much it would cost until it was all installed. I called and spoke to [redacted] at the Perfection Tire store on 10/12/13 and he became hostile and belligerent almost immediately and said that he would need another quote to compare prices (which I said I would provide to him by Monday/Tuesday of the following week. I feel that Perfection Tire owes my father a refund for overcharging him for parts, labor and service in at least the amount of $350.00. I am representing my father as he is not able to at this time. Please contact me at my phone # ###-###-####, Thank you, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I believe that Perfection Tire Store #** in Orofino Idaho owes my Father [redacted] a refund in the amount of $350.00 for overcharging on parts & labor for a fuel pump replacement.

Response:

Case I.D. #[redacted]

[redacted], our store manager in the Orofino store called Mr. [redacted] a week ago to explain the difference between the fuel pump we had sold his father and the pump he had priced elsewhere. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] also agreed to a compromise refund price of $200.00. The original was a fair and agreed upon price offered before any work was done. The settlement is made because Perfection Tire works very hard to have no unresolved complaints. For Perfection,

A tire store that doesn't tighten lug nuts...

I went into the Rathdrum, ID location of Perfection Tire on 3/2/16 to have my tires balanced and rotated. The tires seemed fine and drove better after being balanced. While out running errands on March 9th my car seemed "shaky" and when I left the store it sounded like I had a flat tire but when I pulled over my tires were fine. I proceeded to head home but my car just didn't feel right so I parked and my husband left work to come and help me. When he checked the lug nuts of my front left tire they were so loose he could tighten them with his hands...

Had I been more ignorant and just drove home this could have resulted in a accident that not only would have affected myself and my youngest son it could have involved other drivers. This seems like a huge liability issue that I would imagine their insurance carrier would like to be informed about?

I called Perfection Tire to express my concern his reaction was " oh no" and asked me to come in to make sure my wheel wasn't wallowed out. After checking it out they said it was fine. I asked what they were going to do to make it right with us being that it was EXTREMELY dangerous for me to drive on wheels that the lug nuts were not torqued and my husband loosing half of a day of pay, not to mention the extra gas to drive out of the way to where I was. They offered me a $50 credit on any future work they perform on our cars BUT it really was a slap in the face to give me a credit to a store that we do not feel comfortable having work on our cars any longer.

After getting home my husband noticed the wheel cap was loose only on that left front tire so I went into their competitor to get a second opinion. After they inspected it they agreed nothing was wrong with that wheel but they did bring to my attention there was a lot of corrosion caused from deicer on the roads that makes the wheel not safe to put back on the car. They spent over an hour grinding it down smooth to make sure I was safe. It is amazing to me with all the times I have been into Perfection Tire between buying new tires from them and having them rotate our tires a couple times a year this was never brought to my attention. Is it their policy to let customers drive on unsafe wheels and tires? Again something I imagine their insurance would like to know about.

We have done business with this location for years but recently the workmanship has really gone down hill.

Review: Perfection stripped my oil pan when reinstalling the plug after an oil change by not putting the washer back in with the plug. When I went to [redacted] for the next oil change, the informed me and suggested I install a new pan. Perfection had me bring it back to Moses Lake, from Spokane, and they inserted an oversize plug in the pan without a helio-coil. It was dripping in my driveway, about the size of a half dollar. I went back to Perfection and they said they tightened the plug up a quarter of a turn. A couple months later, the size of the stain on my driveway was the size of an volleyball. I realized this would continue to drip and the car only has 24,000 miles on it, so I took it to Spokane and had a new pan installed for $457. I feel they owe me something. I am caught in the middle of Perfection saying they didn't do it and [redacted] did when they took the plug out, but they went ahead and put an oversize plug in, which in my opinion, is admitting to guilt. When [redacted] service asked why they did not reinstall a washer with the oil plug the manager said, "We don't put washers on if they come in without a washer." I thought perhaps a service manual would tell them this is not correct. I had six oil changes at [redacted] prior to this without any problem and will only go to the dealer from now on.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded for the oil pan and labor I incurred to restore the car to warranty and factory new condition.

Regards,

I purchased an alternator from perfection tire in January of this year...I now have an internal issue with it in as the regulator is causing the battery light to come on at infrequent intervals. I have taken this truck back to perfection tire twice now and the second time was told that my truck was possessed by the so called manager [redacted]. They won't replace the alternator that I paid $585 dollars for and treat me like an it when I have had 20 or thirty people see that my battery light is on and truck is not charging. Don't use this business!! They will turn your vehicle into a lemon for you. I will just write off the $585 and take the truck to ford where they have some mechanics that are actual real mechanics and not incompetents like the ones at perfection tire

I had booked an appointment for an Oil Change yesterday, Mar 8, 2016, after considerable discussion on the phone with the Front Counterman. I arrived a little earlier as a Doctor's appointment had 'come up' & I needed to be 'out on time'. When I was presented the bill, there were charges for 7 quarts (2 quarts over the standard fee) which I questioned but was told that it was the manufacturers recommendation. I had other 'business' & errands.so called for the previous change records at the 'dealer' later in the day. Six quarts always which is the manufacturers specification, was their reply & I returned to remove 1 quart.

Long story short, this 'service' did NOT go well & I feel that I was handled by a couple of cage keepers, not customer services staff - Harsh words were exchanged & I left with the Manager & counterman smirking amongst themselves.

Review: I had a complete brake job and new tires put on my wife's car roughly 10,000 miles ago at Perfection tire in Post Falls ID

while driving to work on the freeway in Spokane WA She applied the brakes and the rear tire locked up solid. she pulled it off the freeway and called me. upon arrival I could visibly see the caliper out of place. I called The perfection tire in Spokane. they called a tow truck and retrieved the car. After inspecting the brake in question they informed me that the caliper bolt had fallen out. They put a new bolt in then proceeded to charge me for he tow bill. I then called the Post Falls branch to let them know, and let them know that I thought that they should pay the tow bill. They told me that it wasn't there fault and that they wouldn't pay for the tow because I may have messed with the brakes.Desired Settlement: Pay the tow bill and take ownership of the mishap

Business

Response:

I spoke today with the owner of the Perfection Tire location in Post Falls, [redacted] who agreed to give the customer the requested refund for towing. Said further that he would be contacting the customer to make that happen.

I took my vehicle in for a simple issue at the Middleton, Idaho location and they turned it into a 4 day nightmare by dropping a part into the motor. Later I found out that the radiator was leaking a lot and the refused to do anything about it. It wasn't leaking when I took it into them to have the original work done. Upon further inspection I noticed a manifold bolt was broke and the still refuse to do anything about it.

Review: I had some tires for an [redacted] sprite to mount on some rims..they did put them on the rims but with the whitewall inside. I told them it was wrong and whitewalls go outside. they said the old tires had black on the outside..but they werent even white walls. I did not know they would have to be told that whitewalls go out .Desired Settlement: Id like a full refund so I could have them mounted the right way..I was charged 82.22.

Hi [redacted],

I spoke with the manager of our Richland location where the customer brought in four wheels and tires for mounting and balancing. He regrets that the tires were mounted with the whitewall in instead of out. He has been attempting to call the customer to let him know he will remount and balance the tires correctly at no charge. Seems reasonable. Thanks for your assistance.

Regards,

I was on my way to an interview on May 1st when I noticed something was going wrong with my car. It was overheating and I no longer had power steering. I pulled into a little mini mart store and had the people call me a tow truck. While I was waiting, I noticed the Perfection Tire store across the street on 2nd Ave in downtown Spokane. I asked the guy coming across the street if they do car repairs. He said yes, go in and tell the guy in the store you are stranded. That guy is [redacted]. I told [redacted] what my problem was and he sent a guy to drive my car to Perfection Tire. Originally we thought my serpentine belt had just broke, but [redacted] said it was my water pump and they could not have my car fixed until later the next afternoon because they were swamped. He was so nice and even had a gentleman bring me home from downtown Spokane. I live out past Sullivan. That was so nice. [redacted] called me at 7:45 am today to tell me my car was finished. I didn't have to wait all day. [redacted] is the nicest person and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I was taken care of. Thank you, [redacted]. You made my day and I will make sure to tell other people to come see you for quality service.

Review: Brought a set of wheels and tires in to have them mount the tires to other wheels. Upon completion, they didn't load my old wheels back in the truck. Upon returning to get them, I was told that they had misplaced them and that they couldn't find them. They offered to replace them as they could not produce my wheels. "They walked off, nice new 2006 [redacted] wheels, nice".I still have not be compensated or given a replacement set of wheels after two months. I just keep getting the run around. Excuses range from we are too busy and we cannot find anything used or reasonably prices. Will not recommend this business to anyone, including enemies. They are as good as thieves.Desired Settlement: I would like them to give me replacement wheels in the same condition or better or given $400 to buy them myself. I have seen used ones on the internet for on $100 each on the average.

I purchased 4new tires and the day they put them, the balance was off on them. I had to take my rig back in and when I talked to the mannager about the price difference between their prices and a competitor, he refused to match the price and proceeded to bash at least 3 of the local small businesses here. Started claiming they were only mediocre businesses that do sloppy and poor work, then started boasting how he just spent 35000 on a new piece of equipment, paying his tech35$ an hour and how his building and parking lot were so much better than every one elses. On top of that he pulled out a list of charities he donates to because of the prices he charges. I'm sorry to say that didn't impress me and it offended me to be treated as disrespectful as I was. It felt like he was talking down to me the entire time I was there. Just because I am a female doesn't mean I don't deserve the same respect a man gets.

Ponderay, ID store, the epitome of the old taking advantage of a woman story. Took advantage of a 61 year old, all she wanted was a transmission flush, tuneup and brake job. Wanted a spot weld on exhaust, instead they replaced the entire exhaust system without authorization. Cost over $3,600 fo flush, oil change, used wrong lubrication, etc. Guaranteed the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee would run like new. Brakes would not work, hit a car in parking lot (they failed to bleed them). Without permission installed new exhaust system, muffler. Broke hood latch and promised to replace. Worst auto experience of her life.
