When the economy bottomed out in my husband and I both lost our jobs and was out of work for two yearsWe lost cars, our home went into pre-foreclosure three times and we eventually had to file bankruptcy to hold on to our home with the help of the Affordable Housing Act We finally got jobs in and have worked hard to rebuild our creditUnfortunately, we are not completely financially solvent and we were in need of a car repair that we did not have the money to pay for We took out a loan with Advance America with the verbal understanding from the clerk that it was a one-time interest payment of $for a $loan I could satisfy the interest and part of the principal with the first payment and all subsequent payments would pay off the balance in four payments It was never explained to me that I would actually be continually renewing the loan with a new check amount and additional interest with each paymentTherefore, I was forced to continue to take out a new loan with additional interest fees instead of making payments on the initial $loan until it was paid offIn addition the fourth payment had to be paid in full If I had understood it this way I would never have taken out this loan My husband and I have worked so hard to get out of debt and now we have just put ourselves in another financial situation that is so unfair I don’t understand how they can get away with this type of predatory lending We will have paid almost $in interest for a $loanI have attached the payments on one of the two $loans from themWe unfortunately had to take out two loans at the same time thinking that the interest would be a one-time $interest feeThis has really put us in a terrible situation and is really hurting us financiallyI am so afraid of the outcome Is there anything at all that can be done to stop this type of lending to the people who need help the most and seem to be taken advantage of the worse?
