Planet Energy Reviews (%countItem)

I wanted to switch companies-my bill is still in their name-in1week they put me in collection for $75 I assume because I alerted them I was switching
I tried to leave them before and was unaware of a FIVE YEAR contract they had me under. Last time, after threatening me with $150 fee, I didn't switch but they ADDED 5 years to the current contract and raised my price per kilowatt. Now, I emailed them and said it was ridiculous for me to stay with them when they can't honor their prices and they put me into collection for $75 without ever trying to bill me. They are still listed on my bill as my supplier and my account is in good standing! They have been maddening to deal with and I don't believe I owe them a thing.

Desired Outcome

I don't feel I owe them a cent (since they continuously raised the price when I was originally "locked in" and I should not have had to honor a 5 year contract when I had NO CLUE that was the case. I don't want them to contact me- just take me out of collection (crazy!) and let me pursue the type of clean energy I want. They are CROOKS!

Planet Energy appreciates the opportunity to respond via the Revdex.com forum.

Please be advised that Planet Energy records all calls to and from its customer service department.

Upon review, Planet Energy's records indicate that the customer signed up for services with Planet Energy in December, 2014 for a five year agreement. The consumer confirmed the rate and term of the agreement in writing and via a telephone confirmation which reviewed the key parts of the agreement.

The consumer's agreement was still in force and effect when the consumer switched suppliers as confirmed by the consumer. As the consumer switched suppliers prior to the end of the term of the agreement, early termination charges were applicable on the consumer's account. Please note, since the consumer was still under the initial agreement, there was no second agreement nor any extension on the agreement or additional agreement as noted by the consumer.

At present time, Planet Energy is not the listed supplier for the consumer, nor is Planet Energy on the consumer's electricity bill.

Please be advised, that even though the consumer exited the contract prior to the end of the term of the agreement, and would be subject to early termination charges - Planet Energy has as a good will gesture, waived the early termination charges on the consumer's account, as well as removed the consumers account from collections.

Since the consumer is no longer a Planet Energy customer, and the early termination charges have been waived as a good will gesture, Planet Energy trusts that this is a full resolution to the consumer's complaint and will be closing the file as resolved.

Thank you once again for providing the opportunity to respond via the Revdex.com forum.

Planet Energy appreciates the opportunity to respond via the Revdex.com forum.

Please be advised that Planet Energy records all calls to and from its customer service department.

The consumer entered into an agreement with Planet Energy; however, it is Planet Energy's procedure to always confirm all agreements via a telephone call prior to implementing and putting into action the agreement.

Planet Energy contacted the consumer and the consumer expressed that he did not wish to complete the agreement. The consumer was not polite on the call. As a result of the consumer not completing the confirmation call, Planet Energy cancelled the customer's agreement.

As the customer's agreement has been cancelled, and the consumer is not answering Planet Energy's calls, Planet Energy considers the matter to be resolved and has closed the complaint file.

My contract expired on August 28. I did not receive any notification prior to the expiration date. The price for electricity raised from 6.7% to 8.9% + an admin fee. The law states that they are required to notify me twice before the contract expiration. They claim they emailed me twice. But I didn't get the emails. I don't delete emails and I checked all folders and spam. I have not blocked their domain. I can't explain why I didn't get the emails but the point is I was never notified.

Desired Outcome

It takes up to two billing cycles for my power provider to be switched to a more competitive provider. All I'm asking is that they keep my contract rate of 6.7% in effect for the time it takes for the new provider rate to be effective. I'm a widow living on social security. This increase is huge to me.

Planet Energy Response • Oct 02, 2019

Planet Energy appreciates the opportunity to respond via the Revdex.com forum.

We would also like to thank the consumer for providing feedback and the opportunity to address the concerns raised.

While renewal notifications were sent to the consumer, it is unfortunate that the consumer did not see the notices.

The consumer's initial agreement was for a one year term and the agreement was subsequently renewed at the end of the term of the initial agreement.

However, the consumer at present time has signed up with another supplier for electricity services, and as a result, Planet Energy is not able to make any changes on the consumer's account.

Please be advised that the switch process does not take up to two billing cycles, and should in fact only take approximately 3 business days.

As the consumer has already switched providers, Planet Energy cannot make any changes directly to the consumer's account, and the consumer should very soon be billed according to their agreement with the new electricity supplier. However, Planet Energy as a good will gesture will provide the customer with a credit of the difference between Planet Energy's rate and the utilities rate for the prior month billing period. The consumer will get a payment via check.

Planet Energy apologies if there were any misunderstandings and appreciates the consumer's actions to call attention to her concerns.

We trust that this resolves the matter.

Door-to-door salesman comes to my apartment in State College, PA is offering a lower reduced rate on supplying gas than *** Gas *** Complete Scam
One of Planet Energy's door-to-door salesman comes to my college apartment promising me a reduced rate on supplying gas vs. its competitors. The man very quickly and briefly goes over "yada yada yada we can offer a reduced rate on your gas if you sign up with us instead." I spend the next 30 minutes wasting my time with this shady, unprofessional looking man who did indeed work for Planet Energy. He promised me a fixed reduced rate from the supplier and had me sign their contract to do business with them instead. He also stated that *** Gas (my at the time current supplier) was raising rates significantly, and it was going to be more costly if I stayed with them.
The very following month, I get a raised rate on the supplier side by nearly 80-90%. He signed me up for fixed rate at $0.5999/thm. Meanwhile, *** was offering $0.334/thm. This month (April/March billing period) I paid the MOST I have ever paid for gas, and it was no where near as cold in State College as Jan/Feb. The most I ever paid was $51 via *** and this month was $77.91. I get off the phone with one of Planet's representatives who was absolutely of no help at all. Rejected me from speaking with a manager/someone who could actually help my cause after explaining that their own representative blatantly lied about their services and rates. The representative basically said, "sorry, you have to pay the bill." I canceled my services with them today and stated I was not paying an additional fee to have the contract ended, and she said I will not be charged. I asked/ensured that I would not be billed for cancellation 3 times, so we will see if I get a bill from them anytime soon. This company employs liars, and I feel very deeply that their business is a scam. How can you offer rates that are near double compared to your competitors after their salesman are out going door-to-door saying "cheaper gas" & "reduced rates" & "save money with us" etc. All of the information was NOT properly disclosed to me on what I would pay by Planet Energy's salesman and their customer service denied complete liability basically. Something has to be done about this because it was not just me obviously that he got to sign up for these higher rates. I read the reviews here, and it seems like this is a MAJOR issue Planet Energy has. This is getting reporting to the Pennsylvania Utilities Commision as well after I can get a hold of them. Extremely disappointed. Please investigate.

Desired Outcome

I would like them to either pay this bill or erase this month and future month's that I get charged at this rate and demand they offer me the same rate *** was offering or cheaper (as promised by their own salesperson). I would also by more than willing and would like to discuss this with an executive or management who can actually help my situation. Their representative on the phone did not act professional after I asked to speak with someone who can actually help me. Those people have only so much power, and I knew she could not help me, which I stated. I also think Planet should look into its own business strategy on trying to retain business rather than shady door-to-door salesman. Seems very unprofessional.

The consumer did not contact Planet Energy during this cooling off period.

The current feedback that the consumer provided regarding the door to door agent will be sent to management.

Canceled contract and was turned into collections in 10 days.
I called planet energy who has been my utility supplier for several years; after an hour long conversation of them trying to convince me to not cancel even after I explained to them that I am paying over $50 each month compared to their competitors. The rep also had to "consult" my contract several times and backtrack on information of what my termination fee was even after I said I understood there was one. I asked for them to mail me the bill; she also emailed me. I was under the assumption that I would still be mailed; I have yet to receive it. I called to cancel 03/20/2019 and today have a letter dated from a collections agency 03/30/2019 that I received today. I called today to ask again to have a "paper" bill mailed to me and they stated that they placed the collections on hold. I have never herd of a copy turn someone into collects after 10 days.

Desired Outcome

I would like them to waive the termination fee due to the hardship it was to work with them and to reevaluate their policy.

I just received the bill in the mail and if the company did pull the call then they should also acknowledge that I did request a paper bill. Also they did not send a proper bill with due date on the paper bill and email. Also yes there was a verbal agreement but they did not explain properly that it was a 5 year contract; which by year 3 from the previous call mentioned I was paying way above their competitors to the point the cancelling fee would have evened out what I was paying. They also did not address turning me into collections for a balance that was 10 days old with no due date for payment but I was given the payment option to mail in a money order or check. Their third party collection agency has more structured billing then they do. I would like for the fee to be waived due to the inconsistency of their business and their aggressiveness in pursuing me when I originally signed the contract.

While I am fully aware that I owe a balance to Planet Energy, their A+ rating with the Revdex.com (Revdex.com) seems inaccurate and inappropriate based on their business practices. I called on March 20th to cancel a contract that I held with them for having rates that were double their competitors. The representative went to great lengths to remind me that I had eight months remaining, but paying double would exceed the cost to buy out my contract. During that call, I requested a paper bill for the balance that I owed them. Prior to receiving a paper bill on April 22, 2019 (that lacked a due date), I was placed in collections within 10 days, on March 30th. This practice is concerning. I never received notification of my balance and a reasonable time-frame to pay the balance before I placed in collections, which impacts my credit rating. The representative who spoke to me continuously had to verify my contract and information before she would answer any questions. At this time, April 23rd, I have not yet paid the bill due to contact with the Revdex.com. Their business practices need to be reviewed and addressed. I look forward to your response containing a solution for this issue.

I was charged an early cancellation fee from the energy supplier, who was overcharging me for my service. The supplier attempted to contact me via email and phone to collect the fee. The phone number they have on my account is no longer a working number. The email address was correct, however I did not receive the communication immediately. There was no attempt to bill me via US mail. Instead, my account was sent the account to collections with a seven day turn around time.

I called Planet Energy to discuss this process to get a better understanding as to why I would be sent to collections in such a short turn around time with attempting to reach me via mail. The rep made multiple assumptions. I asked to speak with a supervisor and after being placed on hold for approximately 2 mins, I was told non were available to speak with me. But the rep who was once unsure, now had an answer to provide to my question.

The communication and customer service was not top quality. In addition, I switch from this supplier because I learned that they were overcharging me for my service.

Desired Outcome

No further contact by the busi Electrical and gas customers should be made aware of the additional charges by suppliers that could result in overcharges and well as the flawed collection process which could financially harm someone who is responsible with their obligations.

They asked me to verbally confirm my information over a phone call that the rep would hand me. I did not allow this to happen. Other consumers may not as smart.
