Planet Energy Reviews (%countItem)

I discontinued my service with PECO/Planet Energy because I moved from my address to another address that already had service.
Someone from Planet Energy came to my (now prior) residence a few months after I moved into my apartment. They told me how I could save money if I got my electricity through them. What they never mentioned to me was that I was locked into a 3 year contract. I moved out of my apartment at the end of October 2018. This was 3 years after I moved in but not 3 years since I apparently signed the contract. At the beginning of November I got an email from someone at Planet Energy stating that I am under contract until January 6, 2019 as that is 3 years after I signed the original contract. I simply responded to let them know that I had moved. I did not get a response from them until over 24 hours later of what I had to do. They told me I had to send them certain paperwork with my new address to clear my account. They only gave me 4 days to do so. I didn't have this paperwork as I had just moved and was also very busy with moving and a full time job. I sent them an email explaining this after the very unrealistic date that they gave me. I never received an email response from them. Every day (except Sunday) for at least a week after they sent me the original email, they would call my cell phone at least 5 times a day. They never left a single voicemail and would just keep calling and calling. This was always while I was at work, and I do not have the ability to answer personal phone calls while working. This practice is extremely annoying and ineffective. I did't know who was calling me so often or why. I just assumed it was a spam caller until I looked up the phone number. I described this in my email as well, but like I said I got no response. Fast forward to December- and I get a notice from a collection agency that I owe Planet Energy the $75 early termination fee. I never received anything back from the company in response I sent them- either the information they asked to send or my complaints about their company. It is very clear that this company lacks the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with their customers. My contract number is: XXXXXXXX.

Desired Outcome

Waive the cancellation fee and removal of collection notices

IPlanet Energy is misleading and a scam. He entered a secure senior apartment illegally and proceed to go door to door to get people to sign up.

March 2017 salesman from Planet Energy gained illegal access to a Senior Apartment. Came to my Mom's (95 yrs old) door and told her he had a deal for her. She let him in and he told her he could decrease her electric by 60%. I waited until I saw the actual contract and explained to my mom that instead of $35.00 a month it would jump to $120. Plus a $7.00 service charge each month. I then canceled with Planet Energy explaining that she signed under false pretense. Then came the $225.00 cancellation fee a then the phone calls. I have placed 37 phone calls since March and now they want her driver license I sent them the POA papers showing her age, it was not accepted and they need SS card or driver license. I am done dealing with this company. Please contact Francine Esposito with any further questions

Desired Outcome

Cancel the $225.00 cancelation fee and make sure your sales people never enter a locked building again.

The consumer entered into an agreement with Planet Energy for the supply of electricity services. Planet Energy contacted the consumer on two separate occasions via outbound telephone call in order to conduct a verification call. The consumer confirmed having enrolled with Planet Energy, as well as the pertinent aspects of the agreement with Planet Energy.

Planet Energy received a request from the consumer's family member to cancel the agreement, which Planet Energy proceeded to process cancellation of the agreement. The consumer's family member advised that she would send in documentation to Planet Energy as proof of authority, this was in April, 2017 and Planet Energy did not receive any documentation.

As a result of the lack of documentation being sent to Planet Energy, the consumer's account was placed in collections. Planet Energy as a good will gesture has removed the consumer's account from collections. Had the consumer provided documentation as requested at the time requested, the account would not have proceeded to collections.

Planet Energy spoke with the family member twice in June, 2017 and twice in November, 2017. The claim that there has been 37 phone calls does not appear to be factual.

Planet Energy to date has not received any documentation pertaining to the consumer's age or any valid documentation from the consumer or consumer's family member. However, as stated, and as a good will gesture, Planet Energy has removed the consumer's account from collections.

Cancellation fee not disclosed and fee sent to collection without proper initial billing.
A representative of Planet Energy presented herself at my door and advised me she could decrease my energy fees. Subsequently, I signed up for the service. Thereafter my current provider Just Energy contacted me and offered me a better rate. Therefore, I never utilized the services of Planet Energy. Planet Energy is currently attempting to collect a cancellation fee from me in the amount of $225.00. I was never notified of this early cancellation fee nor was I ever initially billed for it prior to is being turned over to a collection agency. I contacted the collection agency and the only thing they could offer me was a payment plan. I then contacted Planet Energy directly (my acct. no. XXXXX-XXXXX and they would not negotiate the fee. Therefore, I am forced to pay this fraudulent charge which I cannot afford.

Desired Outcome

I would like to negotiate this cancellation fee down or have it waived in it's entirety.

I received and unfair collection & Bill due to a miscommunication with representative.
I signed up for planet energy to lower my electric bill. I signed up for a three year contract and I was told that if I decided that I do not like it, I would be able to end the contract with no fees. I decided to end it because I switch to a better supplier and they are now trying to collect $225 from me. When I first signed up.

Desired Outcome

All I want them to do is waived the fee and remove the collections notices and NEVER contact me again.

Service was grossly oversold.
Salesman arrived at front door and promised huge savings on electric utility upon change. After two months of excessive charges, we went back to our original carrier. We were never verbally informed of the outrageous cancellation fee. We feel like we were scammed.

Desired Outcome

Removal of $225 cancellation fee.

The consumer entered into an agreement with Planet Energy in November, 2016. Planet Energy contacted the consumer via outbound telephone call to verify the consumer's agreement. The consumer, amongst other things, confirmed entering into the agreement with Planet Energy, as well as the rate and term of the agreement.

The consumer cancelled services with Planet Energy, apparently via signing with another electricity service provider. Planet Energy sent the consumer written follow up, as well as attempted to contact the consumer more than two dozen times, however the consumer is unresponsive to Planet Energy's communications.

Planet Energy is able to offer the consumer a variety of program choices with Planet Energy. However, as the consumer switched services while still under agreement with Planet Energy, early termination charges are applicable pursuant to the contract.

Should the consumer wish to resolve the matter, the consumer is encouraged to contact Planet Energy's customer service department.

We felt pressured to sign with them, and while we signed the contract, it was never clearly defined. Nor was a $225 cancellation ever discussed at the time of signing.

Planet Energy, if have called me, has never once left a message. Just calling and hanging up when no ones home isn't a professional approach to doing business. That said, they have NOT CALLED ME !!

Planet Energy Response

As of July 25th, 2017 the consumer has not contacted Planet Energy. The consumer, of their own action and accord, broke the agreement with Planet Energy.

The consumer's statement that Planet Energy has not attempted to contact them is categorically false.

The consumer is making both false and misleading accusations which are unfounded.

Please be advised that Planet Energy records all calls to and from its customer service department.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Should the consumer wish to resolve the matter, the consumer is encouraged to contact Planet Energy's customer service department.
