I signed up for Planet Fitness during a battle with cancer to get back in shape. I was going regularly, but I started catching all sorts of colds and infections because of my weakened immune system and so I had to slow down and then stop going altogether. Still, I had hope that I would be back, so I didn't desire to cancel my membership until I became pregnant and was not allowed to partake - doctor's orders. But when I called to cancel, I was told I needed to come in in person.
I was annoyed, but I decided I would wait until I felt up to it and make the trip in, but the pregnancy proved to be a difficult one because of all the radiation I went through and it didn't happen. I continued paying every month. Finally, I decided to try and cancel online and made several attempts, but every time I was blocked by an inability to sign in - I didn't have my member ID number and the email link to retrieve it would not work no matter when I tried it.
A year passes that I've been wanting to cancel and now I have a newborn, I'm barely able to walk - forget get there in person. Calling, I'm now told that I can't cancel online either, it has to be in person. I'm angry at this point, but I'm still hopeful that my condition will improve. When I try calling the headquarters occasionally, I'm disconnected.
Now I have a one-year-old. I'm in constant physical therapy and having a very difficult time. I try calling again only to find that they are shut down due to COVID-19. Now I think it should be easier to cancel online, but I still cannot access my account or get through on the phone.
I have been, and continue to pay $22 a month for the last two years. Plus a yearly fee! It should not be this hard to cancel an unused membership! It should not be automatically renewed. I would like my money back and a change in how they do business.

The cancellation process is explained when members sign up (it is the first part of four signatures in the membership agreement they sign) and anytime they call the club inquiring how the cancellation process works. Members have two options when it comes to cancelling a membership at the Planet Fitness location. They can either come into their home location and do it in-person or they can send us a certified letter with all of their information to cancel their membership. In order to avoid any monthly or annual fees all the member has to do is process the cancellation a week before said fee is to be charged. The other option members have is to freeze their membership if they are dealing with any medical issues or military leave that is preventing them from using the club. All they have to do is provide official documentation stating they will not be able to use the facility with a specified time frame. It does not have to go into detail, just has to state that they can not work out. With this we can freeze the membership to avoid any monthly dues. The last visit we received from *** was on 7/1/2018, she did not speak to a Manager and we did not receive a letter of cancellation.

I went in and was asked to update my BACKUP card. I gave them card information. The next billing cycle, my backup card got charged even though I usually get billed directly from my checking account. I confirmed that my account had plenty of money in it and there was no reason for my backup card to be used.

I asked for my incorrect charge to be refunded and for the correct account to be charged. I was told this wasn’t possible, so I responded that I would have to dispute the charge on the incorrect card. I won my dispute, and I was charged for the month I disputed and the following months, yet a late fee appeared and carried over until August 6th when I got charged 36.99. The 36.99 is a late fee and the charge for the month of July, as I wasn’t charged on the 17th as I’m supposed to. I also confirmed I had plenty of money in my account on and around July 17th so there is no reason for that charge to have happened on August 6th.

I don’t think it’s fair that I have to pay for the mistake the club made, especially when after a year and a half I had never missed a payment. I get that It is only $15 but the principle behind it is what’s important. The club first denied they had set my credit card as my primary payment, which I confirmed they lied about. Then I had a hard time getting ahold of the manager ***. Lastly when I did call him today he said he couldn’t reverse the fee for me, even after confirming that we corrected my payments problems and went over my concern.

Unfortunately the management was unwilling to work with my on my concern. And now I’m paying for a mistake that THEY made.

I have offered to produce bank statements and other paperwork to prove that the fee is incorrect and the last time I spoke to the manager he was basically rude and was refusing to refund the late fee that was his clubs fault.

Tuesday, January 29. 2019, I used the Planet Fitness (PF) facilty at 445 Putnam Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917. The staff cut my locker key without permission. They explained a reason because I used the locker where someone else left a car key, which I didn't see. I left the message to the staff to have a manager to call me back. No response.
Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Revisited the PF again and spoke with the manager. He told me either to replace a key or to seek if they could refund a key after he would ask the management. Since I purchased a new key to use the facility, I requested to refund of the key price, which was US$7.61. The manager told me to give me a call for the update next day, but no response was received next day.

Monday, February 4th, 2019. Called the facility, and the staff told me that the manager was not there. He took my phone number and told me he would have the manager call me back. No response.

Wednesday, February 6th, 2019. Called the facility, and the staff told me that the manager was not there. Left the phone number for the manger and the summary of the inquiry. However, no response was received.

I went into the gym In September 2018 to cancel my membership with a employee of planet fitness. After signing the pin pad she told me I was all set. After realizing they were still taking money out of my account a few months after I contacted the gym and spoke to a so called weekend manager. Which he told me to come in and cancel the membership again and he would speak to another manager in in regards to giving me back the money that they took which was a total of eighty something. That manager never called me back. I then started to speak with the actual manager *** which all she kept telling me was that she had to look into this further and that she needs to look back in the cameras. I reach out to this manager numerous times and she never returned my calls. When I finally ended up reaching her after a couple of weeks she then said I couldn’t find anything you need to bring a cancellation sheet which I never got. Not only did they steal money from my account they have no professional staff working at this gym.

My name is ***. I live in Cranston Rhode Island 4 years ago. My one against Planet Fitness is at 1810 Plainfield Pike, Cranston, RI 02921, on August 17, 2017 I was to Planet Fitness to be a member club. One of the questions I asked to Planet Fitness staff was I could cancel my membership at any time she told me ” yes”. The plan that she told me to take was PF Black Card. That plan supposedly I could cancel at any time that's why I signed that plan and decided to sign the papers to be a When I went to planet fitness one month after I signed the membership I saw that I was getting dificil for I went to the gym and decided to go to the store to cancel my membership. The same person who assisted me to sign the papers was the same one that told me that I could not cancel that I had to pay a sum of $60.00 dollars but before that I had to pay $39.00 per annual fee. That without me having a year with that program. The payment had to be automatic, in May of 2018 I had a financial problem and I could not pay my membership. Two days ago after my due day passed I recieved a call from collection agency . They told me that I need to pay now and after I pay I need to go to the store to pay until my membership was fulfilled. The months of June and July I went to pay the membership personally, I asked one of the assistants named *** I asked him after I paid the month of August I did not have to do anything else to cancel my membership his response was "that after I do not have to do anything else for the last payment. " I waited until August 19 to pay but I realized that Planet Fitness had claimed the membership of my bank account I Thought that I don’t need to go to the store to do my payment. I asked why they took my money from my account when I was going to make my last payment. Why Planet Fitness store to pay for them they went to my account exactly when my membership expires. In August I received a call from the same collection agency telling me that I had to pay again $ 39.00 per annual fee. I called the store and I asked to speak to the manager her name is ***. She was very rude to me, I explained to her my situation and she told me that I can not do anything that the only thing I have to do is pay that money and that's it. She did not give me any options that maybe she could do what she told me that she is the manager and she was telling me that I had to pay and that it. The customer service that lady gave to me it was so bad. How that manager talk to me let the company a very bad position about customer service. I think Planet Fitness needs to training their its personnel better. I would like you to help me with my case. Thank you very much I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely

Good Morning,
I made a mistake thinking that my Annual Fee of $39 was a increase of my Monthly Fee of $19.99,so,
I went to Planet Fitness to ask about it ,the clerk did not remind me, or explain that the $39 was my Annual Fee,and was only told ,once they receive payment there is no refund, so I quit. Not till I called
corporate was I made aware of my mistake. Within 24 hrs. I returned to PF to rejoin and was told that now I would just have to pay a slight increase in my monthly fee, which was perfectly fine with me, when I asked about not paying the Annual Fee again because I had just paid it, ***, the PF Manager said no, that would not be a problem, I would not have to pay it again, just come back in 4/2/18 and I could then rejoin, so I did go back as instructed on 4/2/18, and had to refresh her of our conversation, now she said I have to pay The Annual Fee Again Of $39, I told her that was not what she had previously told me, she didn't deny it, of course I'm not happy, again I called corporate and was told they couldn't do anything about it because it is a privately owned franchise, it's their decision but, that they would call them to see if they could help, and I still have heard nothing. Very poor Customer Service, they would rather loose my monthly fee for a year because I refuse to pay again, the Annual Fee,I was not asking for a refund, only to rejoin, now, I am asking for a refund since They will not let me rejoin unless I again pay the Annnual Fee of $39, AGAIN TWICE IN A YEAR,! They now have my non refundable fee of $39 and I can't use the facility. Why would anyone pay the Annual Fee and then quit next day? Does that make any sense? It was a mistake/misunderstanding
I just wanted to fix my mistake and rejoin without having to pay a Annual twice. Why should I pay twice for something? Thank You

I have gone into planet fitness and I have sent 3 letters per the instruction of the staff requesting that my membership be canceled and that my bank account is no longer charged and they continually and without permission keep charging my card monthly

Went into my checking account without notification and withdrew $39.00 for annual membership.
I was not informed prior to doing this- I did not give my permission for them to do this.
