The Planet Fitness I belonged to was permanently closed as of the middle of March 2020. I had a paid in full membership; they won't give me a refund.
The planet fitness located at*** was owned and operated by ***s out of ***, TX. I called the 888 number for ***s on 10 September 2020, when I realized that the location had been permanently closed. I spoke to a woman named, ***. She was very nice and said she would request a refund for and to call back in about 10 days to check on the status. I called on 21 September 2020 and spoke to woman named, ***. She also was very nice; she spoke to her boss and told me a regional manager would call me. No one called me. Today, I called again and after holding for an hour; they disconnected my call. They can identify the number I am calling from and obviously do not want to talk to me. Their answering system says, if you send an e-mail to ***, you will receive a response within 24 hours. I have sent three messages to that address and have not received any responses. I called again today after they disconnected my call and selected the option to have them call me back. They did not call. Again, I know they know my telephone number and evidently, do not want to talk to me. They only owe me about $40, so you would think they would want the good will such a small amount of money would provide. If they were nice to me and gave me a refund, I would join a planet fitness again, if they opened one close to my home. They come across as a sleazy company, because of their actions to avoid talking to me. The two women I talked to from the company understood completely, that I should be given a refund, because (1) the location I belonged to and the only location I was allowed to go to was closed permanently, (2) I am 70 years old, and (3) there isn't currently a location convenient to my home. They owe me for 3.5 months at $11.06 per month.

I had the same kind of response from this company when my husband was diagnosed with a terminal illness and subsequently died. He also had a paid in full membership. He had paid $99 for one year and had 6 months remaining on his membership when he became seriously ill. They also did not reply to my telephone calls or e-mails then. Because that was such a traumatic situation for me, I just gave up after numerous calls and e-mails trying to get a refund.

I understand that gyms and health clubs are suffering along with the rest of the country because of Covid 19, but this company acted the same way before Covid 19, when my husband became terminally ill.

I know in some states the *** helps with problems with gyms and fitness clubs, but I don't know if North Carolina is one of those states.

Desired Outcome

I want a refund and an apology for taking so much of my time to accomplish something that should be simple. I spent numerous hours on the telephone on hold and talking to people as well as time writing and sending emails and researching information about them and filing at least one complaint.

I have tried to reach out to the member and left a voicemail and sent an email to come to a resolution. Given the re-opening of our clubs, call volume is extremely high.

Both her and Husbands membership will be refunded. Just need to confirm month with member to process refund.

I tried to call Mr. but was unable to speak to him or leave a telephone message, so I sent him an email. According to my calculations, Planet Fitness owes me $88.21. That is $38.71 for the part of my membership I was unable to use and $49.50 for the part of the membership my husband was unable to use.
We joined the Planet Fitness on *** before it was completed and enjoyed the club very much.

I requested cancellation of my gym membership and the requests were ignored. Meanwhile, I was charged an annual fee after my cancellation request.
My annual membership expired on June 11, 2020. During the time the gym was shutdown, I contacted Planet Fitness to cancel my membership. They indicated that they could not cancel my membership over the phone but extended my cancellation period until the gym re-opened. They indicated that I would have to go to the gym (obviously it was closed) or send a certified letter. I was not going to the post office to get a certified letter during the peak of COVID-19. It seems that they could have made an exception to this during the pandemic. The day the gym re-opened, September 1, 2020, I called my local gym and the recording indicated that I could request to cancel my membership by simply emailing ***. I was told to include my name, address, phone #, and membership #. My email was not answered. I sent a follow up email on September 4, 2020. I did this just in case something happened with the first email. I figured that they were getting inundated with requests, so I was patiently waiting for a response. Today, October 1, 2020, I looked at my checking account to find that I had been charged an annual fee in the amount of $39. To me, this is false advertisement. Given the current situation with COVID-19, it is disappointing that this company would take money from me when I requested to cancel my membership months ago over the phone and over a month ago by email as instructed on my home gym's answering service. In addition, I tried to call today to see if I could actually talk to a person. I have currently been holding for 36 minutes and counting. This is not customer service.

Desired Outcome

I would like my membership cancelled and the annual fee refunded to me.

I cancelled my membership on 9/30 and they told me no more charges after 2 days I found $39 charge on my bank.
Worst experience ever.Won't get a membership with them ever. I went on 9/30 to cancel my membership and all went fine and I signed the cancellation form and I asked the associate if there is any other charges so I can stop them from my bank and he told me No other charges you are all set. Today 10/2 I found a charge of $39 into my bank account went to the Gym and I told them I already canceled a few days ago they told me cancelation didn't went through and it's my mistake I should have cancelled before 25th and you can dispute with your bank but we won't refund you any money. What a shame! While we have a pandemic they try to force us to come back to the gym to get our money they don't care about us. I'll dispute this with my bank. It's not over

Desired Outcome

I want a refund of $39 I cancelled because I'm not going to use the Gym when we have a pandemic.

The gym has been closed since Covid 19. They opened up just for people who were suppose to have to work out due to medical reasons.
The gym charged me the membership fee even though the governor has not opened the gym up completely. I think this is wrong. I want my money refunded.

We have attempted to reach out to Mrs. on Monday Oct. 12th, and Tuesday October 13th.

We have been opened since September 4th under the governments orders that do not require medical documentation to use the facility.

We sent emails to all members stating the conditions we have opened under and have billed our members based on contract terms. Considering we opened on September 4th with no medical documentation required, we billed members prorated amounts that covered the days we were open. The annual fees for all members were pushed back to be billed after we reopened.

We also sent out emails to members during the beginning of September allowing members to use an online portal to freeze their membership.

In the meantime, in order to cancel memberships, Mrs. would need to do so according to the contract. I have frozen members membership for the month of October until member is able to contact us back.
