Review: I bought a sofa from Property Furniture in New York on * March 2013 with shipping to be provided by a third party freight company. [redacted] of Property Furniture told me that the freight company gave her telephone quote of $685 to ship the sofa from New York to California. I requested information about the freight company, insurance coverage and paperwork documenting the actual freight charge. Property Furniture refused to provide documentations of the freight quote or information about the company and its liability policy. [redacted] told me that $685 was the ACTUAL FREIGHT QUOTED BY THE FREIGHT COMPANY. Furthermore, according to [redacted] of Property Furniture, the sofa was 100% fully insured against damage during shipping with zero deductible; but Property Furniture did not have any written information on freight insurance. The sofa was delivery a few days late. At delivery on * April 2013, I found out the name of the freight company - DCI Logistic. Property Furniture’s defensive and unethical sales practices were reinforced by facts from DCI Logistic: 1. Property Furniture charged me more than the actual freight. 2. Property Furniture has all the paperwork including freight insurance coverage. 3. There is a deductible should the sofa be damaged in transit. Property Furniture lied to me about the actual freight charge and insurance coverage. Not only did Property Furniture deny me the paperwork of freight quote and freight insurance information, they overcharged me for shipping my furniture.Desired Settlement: Refund of freight charge.

Response:

We do not understand this false complaint.

Client is not stating the truth. The high quality sofa was purchased at almost 50% discount.

The actual shipping amount was white glove $640 , we had to hire 2 delivery people to lift the sofa ( very heavy)from our sales floor basement to the ground floor entrance for the delivery crew to pick up. We actually paid $75 for this service but only added $40 to the shipping cost. The sofa was fully insured. There is always a deductible with all insurances common knowledge.

We shopped around for several days ( which takes a lot of time away from the sales floor) to get best freight cost & east to west coast can take up to 3 weeks for deliveries and rates can be $1200 for a large sofa.

We offer shipping as a customer service.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The price of the sofa is not the issue. The issue is that Property Furniture lied about the freight charge and continues to lie and refuse to provide ACTUAL FREIGHT DOCUMENT/INVOICE even in response to this complaint.

I have emails which document all the facts I have presented. According to Property Furniture, $685 is the freight quote via phone from the freight company (email dated ** March 2013). Property Furniture told me nothing was added to the freight quote; now they admit they did add a charge! They continue to lie about the actual freight quote.

Property Furniture statement of ‘there are deductibles with all insurance’ are incorrect and shows their ignorance. It is a common knowledge that the deductibles ranges from $0 to amount specified based terms of freight insurance policy.

The inflated freight charge was confirmed by DCI Logistic. To date, Property Furniture has failed to provide the ACTUAL FREIGHT QUOTE and INVOICE. If Property Furniture is not lying, why do they continue to denied claims and refused to provided me with the ACTUAL FREIGHT QUOTE and DCI Logistic’s FREIGHT INVOICE? Submit the ACTUAL FREIGHT DOCUMENT as requested and the fact will be evident. The ACTUAL FREIGHT QUOTE DOCUMENT AND DCI Logistic’s FREIGHT INVOICE will speak for itself.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Thank you for your email of 10/**/2013. Upon review of my files at the end of the year, I have concluded that this case should be considered 'Unresolved'. Allow me to explain why.

** Oct 2013, [redacted] of Property Furniture emailed a freight invoice to me. Upon closer scrutiny of the invoice, I can see that it was fabricated by Property Furniture using Invoice2go on ** Oct 2013. Based on the evidence presented to me, it is not the original invoice. Moreover, the freight invoice was not from Decorator’s Choice Installations/DCI Logistic, the freight company which actually picked up and delivered the sofa to me on * April 2013.

The dispute with the business is not resolved and I no longer wish to have any further dealings with Property Furniture. I did not make any false statements of Property Furniture and all my statements are correct. I request that the Revdex.com leave my complaint online as an ‘Unresolved’ to warn future consumers of Property Furniture’s deceptive practices.

Sincerely

Sincerely,

Response:

This harassment needs to stop we had enough of your false statements.

Review: About 3 years ago, I received delivery of 2 designer swivel chairs that cost me almost $6,000. Soon after delivery, I spoke with [redacted], the owner of the furniture store, and told her both chairs were making terrible squeaking noises. The chairs have a 5 year warranty from the Italian manufacturer, but she refused to help me. After a long period of time of both my interior decorator and I asking her to make the situation right, she came to my home and saw the chairs were well taken care of and that it was obviously a manufacturing defect and she agreed to have them replace the box (keeping the existing fabric and metal base). I took delivery of the replacement chairs in May, 2013. In June, 2013, I informed [redacted] (owner's daughter) I was hearing the same loud squeaking noise, this time in just one chair. Since June, I have sent numerous e-mails and left numerous messages, all unanswered. They are representatives of the manufacturer and according to the warranty, they are suppose to come here and make an inspection of the chair, but they refuse to do that. I have told [redacted] I just want my chair repaired (it doesn't have to be replaced) and she still refuses. It is terribly embarrassing when guests come over. My interior decorator who accompanied me on the purchase has told [redacted] my home is immaculate and I take very good care of my furniture, but [redacted] says she won't do anything for me. These are very expensive chairs and it was only 1 month old when I complained about this one chair.Desired Settlement: I just want my chair fixed or replaced.
