Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Please note that the business in question provided the malware via their pop up ad! Their business model is to target older customers who are not tech savvy by displaying  pop up alerts generated by visiting bogus web sites which spoof legitimate websites (ie [redacted]nstead of [redacted]). When visited, these bogus sites trigger activity such as background downloading and then pop up ad(s) which "discover" them. This is a shameful business model which should be exposed and shut down. I was NOT satisfied by their phoned explanation, which, by the way, did NOT match their attached response to you. If you take the time to "[redacted]" this, you'll find many more complaints.
Regards,[redacted]

We received a call from the customer stating that she wasgetting random virus pop-ups on her computer. Our representative “[redacted]” askedher if she was fine with free remote diagnostic of hermachine. To which she replied “yes”.Our representative asked her to enter “session code” for...

[redacted] ( an onlinemeeting software) to start remote session (referred in the complaint as “asked her to push a few keys”). The diagnosticservices were provided for free. As a result of our initial scan, we foundtraces of spyware/malware & tracking cookies on customer’s computer. Weinformed the customer about the same and that it might result in datacorruption or data loss. We further informed the customer about the cost associatedwith the repair and our various support plans (referred in the complaint as “offered to sell a computer protection service for $249 per yearor one-time fix for $159”). Our support plan includes but is notlimited to; unlimited technical support (24x7) during the subscription period, on-siterepair if required, [redacted]The customer decided not to purchase our repair service& was informed that if she decides to get her computer repaired, she cancall us before the end of business day. It’s our policy to educate our customers about the adverseeffects of neglecting such issues. Which might result in data loss, datacorruption or in some cases security issues (Referred in the complaint as “Refused to pay. [redacted] said to call back in same day if shechanged mind or her computer may not be able to be fixed. Left my mother-in-lawscared and upset”). Once corrupted or lost, the data cannot beretrieved in most cases. We believe it’s our responsibility to inform customers aboutthe risk of neglecting such issues. Which we believe in this case left thecustomer scared or upset.

Hi,This is to inform you that we have contacted [redacted] regarding her complaint and convinced her to cancel the complaint against our company. We have offered her a full refund of what she paid us for our service subscription. ($299.99) USD[redacted], agreed for the same and has confirmed us...

by email. We have attached the copy of the email confirmation sent by her. Also, she promised that she would contact the Revdex.com to cancel her complaint as soon as possible. Regards,[redacted]

In regard to the above complaint I spoke with [redacted] from Pro tech at which time he apologized for what had happened and and stated to me that the tech had made a mistake and that he would received further training.  He also stated that they were refunding the $249.99 that they charged me.  He also requested that withdraw my complaint.  I am sorry that my response has taken so long but I had to have my computer repaired after this incident, and just got it back today.  I would like to say that what Protech did was deliberate and I do not want to withdraw my complaint and would like to keep it on record.  Other than getting my refund of $249.99 and and not withdrawing my complaint , I would consider this complaint resolved.

Review: On Friday 10-17-14 I was on my laptop computer doing a job search. I went to [redacted] web page. When I tried to access the information on page I could not. Subsequently a message came up on screen stating that there was a [redacted] on my computer and that I needed to call the number on the screen. I x'd out and tried to access the page again getting the same message. I then tried to use two other browser which not work at all. I returned back to my initial search and tried again at which time I wrote the number down and called. The person who identified himself as [redacted] immediately began tell me about the risk of having the [redacted] on my computer. He told me that if my computer crashed which by the way it was acting, that when it did crash it could not be repaired and this is a critical now because my hard drive was being destroyed. He asked me if he could have access to my computer remotely shoe that he could show me what was happening. He gave me a code to typed in so that he could access my computer. He showed me according to him items which said that my [redacted] tools had stopped working and he stated that over 65% had stopped and that my system was very close to crashing. He showed me many items that were at issue he said o my computer. He went on and on about the [redacted] who had hijacked my network and computer and other deviceshe stated that even if my computer were cleaned it would not matter because the [redacted] had control of my network and could reinfect. He told me that he could clean my computer as well as remove the [redacted]. He told me that this needed to be done now or that my computer would crash and could not repaired after the damage. I gave him permission to remotely fix what ever issues were on the computer. They charged me 249.99 to do this. I later found out that this could not really be done remotely and that the man in the middle was probably protech who already had access to my computer thus being able to block me from websites and sending the message to me.Desired Settlement: I would like this company to be exposed for scamming people. They should be fined or not allowed to operate their business under current practices I have contacted my credit card company to dispute this claim.

Regards,

My experiences with PRO TECH SQUAD, LLC - have MOSTLY been very positive.

Recommend their expertise and services to anyone who is not savy in the computer world, as I.

The value, attention and detailed work done by them are excellent.

My choice is: PTS.

Thank you,

Review: I got the message that [redacted] would not install on my computer; searched the web for the [redacted] phone number. (I realize that I called a number at the top of the Search page, not the actual [redacted] support number). The answerer said they could help me with the [redacted] install. “Anjit” accessed my computer remotely, said I had many problems and "stopped programs." Next I was connected with “Piyush”, the "tech support" person. He said he would need 60-90 minutes to fix it. Before he would fix it, I had to by a "subscription" at $249.99 for one year.

After more than 90 minutes of remote access, Piyush said the problem was resolved but I must call them every month to have the computer searched by remote access. I felt suspicious because the techs were in India, not reachable via [redacted]. I didn’t like having my computer searched each month.

Last night, my husband's computer gave an error message about [redacted] installation. I called ProTech and was told I would have to buy a new contract for that computer. I refused because we have a service contract for that computer with [redacted].

While waiting at [redacted], my daughter searched the Internet and learned the error message is normal and no problem: it’s how Windows 8 lets you know to renew your antivirus protection. This alerted me that ProTech was "making up" problems so they can charge for fixing them. I believe all I needed when I first called was instructions about how to renew. I had experienced no problems with my computer.

The [redacted] technician said that the company misrepresented its employees as [redacted] and Microsoft technicians. [redacted] said it is dangerous to allow remote access to one’s computer and that scammers often plant things on a computer and then charge to remove them.

I’m 69 years old, and computers aren’t my strong suit. I believe I was scammed into buying a potentially invasive product when all that was needed was a reinstallation of [redacted] Antivirus, for which I already pay.Desired Settlement: Because I was "scared" by very skilled salespeople into buying an unneeded, misrepresented service, I want a refund and will not do business with ProTech Squad again. Thank you.

Review: on September 18, 2014, after seeing a warning several times about the speed of my computer. I called the number and was told that my computer was infected and slow. I was very uneasy about the news I was given. The person said he was a [redacted]. I allowed this company to remotely take control of my computer. I am not that technically savvy and was afraid the computer would crash. I authorized a charge of $249.99 for a year's service, but when I contacted them for a monthly check, I could not understand the woman on the phone due to her heavy accent. I could not communicate with her.

I would like to get my money back. Dealing with a company whose personnel are not understandable is not what I thought I was getting. I think that they may be scammers and I have fallen victim.Desired Settlement: A full refund of the $249.99 that was charged to me on September 18, 2014.
