Quaker City Service Reviews (%countItem)

A representative came out charged us $105 plus tax. He told us it would be $500 to fix but half the time to fix it it wouldn't really work and they do not guarantee it. This was never told to us over the phone and we would never have agreed to have him come out and give him a check for $112.35

Quaker City Service Response • Mar 27, 2020

Dear ***:

This letter is regarding the complaint against my business with the ID of ***. Quaker City Service, is the factory authorized repair company for ***. *** owns ***, ***, ***, and ***. Factory authorized means that we are ***'s preferred servicer for their products. *** contacted *** regarding her microwave that needed service. They set her up for an appointment with our company on March 17, 2020. Our office called *** because we were given a date of purchase for her microwave of January 30th 2004. This means the microwave is out of warranty. *** was advised that there was a service call fee of $105 for our technician to come out to the home. Any parts, labor and tax would be additional.

The complaint given to us from the manufacturer was that ***'s microwave visibly failed, roken or missing parts. Our technician brought out common parts that fail on that model microwave so we could try to fix it in one visit. With out being at a customer's home, there is no way of us knowing whether the repair is a simple fix, or a complicated one.

When our technician arrived at her home, we were able to see the full extend of the damage to the microwave. The unit needs a new door as well as the springs. This unit can be fixed, and we quoted her an estimate of $430+tax to do the repair. The estimate included the $105 service call fee, as well as the cost for the parts and labor. We did advise the customer that we can't guarantee the repair. This is because whenever a door is taken apart, there is always the possibility of plastic pieces breaking, which would cause the estimate to go up. We also advised that this model is known to have repeat issues especially once it gets up in age. This unit is over 12 years old, and is currently in need of a major repair. Based off what was needed to fix her unit, and the information our technician gave her, *** decided not to proceed with the repair.

*** was only charged $112.35, which is our service call fee of $105+tax. No company, not even the manufacturer can go out for free. There was no way our technician could have known the extend of the problem without seeing what was needed. If *** would like us to fix her microwave, we would be more than happy to do it. *** is not entitled to a refund. I would also like to bring to your attention that *** has stopped payment on her check, which is illegal.

Enclosed with this letter, please find a copy of our service invoice, as well as documentation from our back stating that there was a stopped payment on the check provided by ***.

Please let me know if I can be of any more assistance.

Sincerely, Bruce G

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: after explaining the error indicator came on when trying to use microwave on the phone with Quaker they sent out a technician. Technician without doing anything but looking at the microwave said there was only a 50-50 chance that he could fix it. he did say he could go ahead and replace the parts and try to fix it and it would be an additional $500 but probably wouldn't work. I called another company they send out a technician he fixed it in under 2 hours for less than $200 and said it was only a loose wire. the microwave has been working perfectly ever since !

Regards
